This paper presents the design and implementation of a forest fire monitoring and warning system based on long range (LoRa) technology, a novel ultra-low power consumption and long-range wireless communication technology for remote sensing applications. The proposed system includes a wireless sensor network that records environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, and carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration in the air, as well as taking infrared photos. The data collected at each sensor node will be transmitted to the gateway via LoRa wireless transmission. Data will be collected, processed, and uploaded to a cloud database at the gateway. An Android smartphone application that allows anyone to easily view the recorded data has been developed. When a fire is detected, the system will sound a siren and send a warning message to the responsible personnel, instructing them to take appropriate action. Acoustic underwater link due to low attenuation is employed for underwater sensor network (UWSN). Due to water changing physical properties and different environmental conditions, the sound propagation for every underwater channel are different. So, the most important parameters to design reliable UWSN are: the shadow zone determination, optimum nodes placement, high signal to noise ratio and more power efficiency of nodes. This paper simulates underwater channel for 7 KHz carrier frequency, with measured physical water properties and remote sensing data. Based on defined scenario, the research determines optimum nodes placement and link budget analysis based on bottom to surface acoustic link. The paper utilizes Bellhop acoustic toolbox as a simulator, GeoMapApp program to collects bathymetry data and Aviso+ database to determine wind speed on sea surface. As a result the paper based on simulation of sound propagation in channel and transmission loss determination in depth and range, finds the optimum nodes positions and link budget calculation to prove the results. The ocean environment monitoring system is of great significance to the researchers because the ocean is the storehouse of natural resources. It is critical to comprehend and assess the ocean's environmental conditions. Several studies have been conducted over the last several decades that use sophisticated information and communication techniques to ensure the ocean ecosystem. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a promising technology to monitor the ocean environment, which delivers significant benefits such as enhanced accuracy and real-time observations. The advancements in sensor technology such as micro electromechanical systems (MEMS), integrated systems, distributed processing, wireless communications, and wireless sensor applications have contributed to the development of WSNs. This paper describes the utilization of WSN and analyzes the previous and existing project works and technologies used for ocean environment monitoring through WSNs, and also includes the MEMS sensor technology used for monitoring various ocean parameters such as ocean wave monitoring, water conductivity, temperature, and depth of ocean. New advance and integrated technologies have changed the traditional systems and convert these systems into more intelligent, feasible and cost effective systems. In all data communications domain, data gathering is one of the significant task performed by using any techniques, tools and devices. Wireless sensor networks (WSN) also gained popularity in various fields where the sensor node sensed the information by using sink or gateway nodes and further send to central units for decision making. With passage of time, these networks have faced complexities where most of the existing techniques have suffered with load balancing, complex processes, overhead and energy consumption issues. Firstly, this paper provides detail comparison of existing data gathering techniques adopted for WSN and then provides their performance analysis. After comparison, this paper proposes a novel data gathering techniques called a sink based data gathering techniques (ASDG) to collect the data from the sensor nodes and further send for decision making. Experimental results show that proposed techniques is better than existing techniques and provide more efficient data delivery ratio with more network lifetime. This paper presents low cost-effective weather station with monitoring system by using ZigBee communication technique that serves as a communication channel by using hardware and sensors to transmit and receive data in the weather station system. Using ZigBee over the Bluetooth for the short coverage distance about (1-10 m) and over the (WLAN) (wireless local area network) or Wi-Fi, a WLAN has limitation like delay, lacking BW of the handover of a large amount of data, and some areas have no internet coverage. The system includes implementation and design for the weather station using Arduino Uno board and five sensors gives sixth reading data (rain state, wind level, air pressure, dust density, temperature and humidity). The data can be stored in SD card on receiving (clouding and main processing side) from more than one transmitter node (ZigBee Network). It can be retrieved the data in any time and date. The nodes of wireless sensor networks (WSN) are severely restricted in terms of computing capabilities, limited communications, and limited power supplies, as it is difficult or impossible to replace or recharge the sensor battery. Consequently, the energy of nodes is one of the most important resources to consider when designing of WSNs. So, most of the routing protocols in WSNs are to assure the saving of energy as a significant aim for improvement. Nevertheless, just providing power is not sufficient to extend the lifetime of WSN. Where unbalance energy depletion in WSNs is a challenging issue often leading to splits the network and reduces its lifetime, also retrogression of its performance. This paper, therefore, uses a powerful routing protocol named spider monkey optimization routing protocol (SMORP) to generate an optimal data routing of the pathway for heterogeneous WSNs (HWSNs). SMORP, here, can compute the best way from a sensor to the sink through the cluster head, inside the intra-cluster, and the inter-cluster respectively. For this purpose and the organization of heterogeneous nodes, this paper uses the clustering partition. The simulation results revealed that SMORP significantly improves in terms of data latency reduction, stabilizing depletion of energy, and maximizing the network lifetime for HWSNs. This paper proposes a study of an energy harvesting system for powering wireless sensor network (WSN) devices. The thermal energy harvesting system used is based on the thermal energy source between ambient air at the soil surface with five depth levels. Measurement was taken for 46 days in a garden area located in Melaka, Malaysia. A feasibility study of soil temperature measurement to obtain a temperature gradient can be used for harvesting by using thermoelectric generators (TEG) modules. Then, the efficiency of TEG with several different configurations based on temperature gradient data has been tested in the laboratory. The results revealed that the depth of soil 6 cm between sensors 1 and 3 will gave the best representation of level average temperature different around 1 ?. Based on the temperature gradient data, the combination of three TEG SP1848 in a series connection with DC-DC step-up circuit DC1664 will produce an optimum voltage output of about 3 V. Nowadays, the rapid development and the miniaturization of CMOS image sensors in the last years allowed the creation of WMSN (Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network). Therefore, transferring images through the network becomes an important field of research. The main goal is to transmit the data from a sensor node to another to reach finally the Sink node. Thus, routing protocols play an important role in managing and optimizing the node's resources particularly the energy consumption. Therefore, some routing protocols are known by their ability to save energy and extend the lifetime of the network such as Leach protocol and derived variants. However, multimedia content transferring was not a priority for these protocols. In this paper, the main idea is to adapt ICH-Leach, for image transferring. This protocol was tested in a previous work and has given good performances against Leach, balanced Leach and MLD-Leach. In fact, the Haar wavelet transform is used, in the application layer, to extract the resolution level to be used in image transmission, depending on the rate flow between the sensor node and the sink node. This paper provides statistics concerning the lifetime of the network, the energy consumption and statistics related to receive images using the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR). The Castalia framework is used for simulation, obtained results show the efficiency of the proposed approach by network lifetime extending and more images transmitting with better quality compared to other protocols. In a wireless sensor network, energy is almost always the greatest limitation. Energy sources are restricted in many of the environments where nodes are deployed, limiting them to the use of batteries for power. Therefore, conserving energy is supremely important, however, such a task poses many challenges to hardware and protocol design. One of the greatest problems faced is reducing the energy consumption of the communications systems, which represents a substantial amount of the total consumption. This paper surveys the most recent schemes designed to reduce the communications module energy consumption with a focus on novel MAC protocols for ad-hoc wireless sensor networks. It initially describes the many challenges involved, then it analyses each protocol individually. Today, the wireless sensor network (WSN) plays an important role in our daily life. In addition, it is used in many applications such as military, medical, greenhouse, and transport. Due to the sending data between its nodes or to the base station requires a connection link, the sensor nodes can be exposed to the many attacks that exploit the weaknesses of the network. One of the most important types of these attacks is the denial of service (DoS). DoS attack exhausts the system's resources that lead the system to be out of service. In this paper, a cyber-security algorithm is proposed for physical level of WSN that adopts message queuing telemetry transport (MQTT) protocol for data transmission and networking. This algorithm predicts the DoS attacks at the first time of happening to be isolated from the WSN. It includes three stages of detecting the attack, predicting the effects of this attack and preventing the attacks by excluding the predicted nodes from the WSN. We applied a type of DoS attack that is a DoS injection attack (DoSIA) on the network protocol. The proposed algorithm is tested by adopting three case studies to cover the most common cases of attacks. Over the last few years coverage and connectivity of wireless ad hoc networks have fascinated considerable attention. The presented paper analyses and investigates the issues of k-connectivity probability and its robustness in wireless ad hoc-network while considering fading techniques like lognormal fading, Rayleigh fading, and nakagami fading in the ad hoc communication environment, by means of shadowing and fading phenomenon. In case of k-connected wireless sensor network (WSNs), this technique permits the routing of data packets or messages via individual (one or more) of minimum k node disjoint communication paths, but the other remaining paths can also be used. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is self-organizing network; it consists of a large number of sensor nodes with perception, calculation ability and communication ability. Generally, the floor, walls or people moving has an effect on indoor localization, so it will result in multi-path phenomena and decrease signal strength; also the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) is unable to gain higher accuracy of positioning. In order to improve the WSN positioning accuracy in indoor condition, in this paper, we firstly propose krill swarm algorithm used for WSN localization. We detailed analyze the multilateral measurement method in range-free distance vector-hop (DV-hop) localization algorithm. The position problem can be transformed into a global optimization problem. Then, we adequately utilize the advantage of calculating optimization problem and apply the krill swarm algorithm into the stage of estimating unknown node coordinates in DV-hop algorithm to realize localization. Finally, the simulation experience results show that the localization with krill swarm algorithm has an obviously higher positioning precision and accuracy stability with different anchor node proportion and nodes. This paper introduces a Simulink model design for a modified fountain code. The code is a new version of the traditional Luby transform (LT) codes. The design constructs the blocks required for generation of the generator matrix of a limited-degree-hopping-segment Luby transform (LDHS-LT) codes. This code is especially designed for short length data files which have assigned a great interest for wireless sensor networks. It generates the degrees in a predetermined sequence but random generation and partitioned the data file in segments. The data packets selection has been made serialy according to the integer generated from both degree and segment generators. The code is tested using Monte Carlo simulation approach with the conventional code generation using robust soliton distribution (RSD) for degree generation, and the simulation results approve better performance with all testing parameter. It is well known that the resources in agriculture are considered the most important factors for success. Therefore, numerous researchers are involved in the field of managing these resources, particularly water and consumed power. Moreover, the security side of these resources is considered, particularly the cyber-attacks. In this project, an optimized resource management method is proposed for allocating the available resources in a smart on-demand way. The proposed method is applied for dripped and sprinkler irrigation systems for managing the available water and generated power. In addition, an optimization method is utilized to obtain reliable solutions for managing the adopted resources. This method adopts a cyber security algorithm for preventing any possible attack. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is used as a reading source, in which the underlying area is covered well, since using sensors in irrigation systems is cost-effective that ensures on-demand irrigation process to save water and power resources. In this paper, a robust range-free localization algorithm by realizing best hop length optimization is proposed for node localization problem in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). This algorithm is derived from classic DV-Hop method but the critical hop length between any relay nodes is accurately computed and refined in space WSNs with arbitrary network connectivity. In case of network parameters hop length between nodes can be derived without complicated computation and further optimized using Kalman filtering in which guarantees robustness even in complicated environment with random node communication range. Especially sensor fusion techniques used has well gained robustness, accuracy, scalability, and power efficiency even without accurate distance or angle measurement which is more suitable in nonlinear conditions and power limited WSNs environment. Simulation results indicate it gained high accuracy compared with DV-Hop and Centroid methods in random communication range conditions which proves it gives characteristic of high robustness. Also it needs relatively little computation time which possesses high efficiency. Routing design is a key issue for large-scale wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Energy consumption associated with allocated resources should be considered. This paper proposes the integration of an energy-efficient model, which is based on vector field theory, in large-scale WSNs. Source nodes in WSNs have the characteristics of source points in a vector field, whereas sink nodes could be characterized as gathering points. Our scheme demonstrates that we can solve a set of partial differential equations in electrostatic theory to determine the routes that result in energy efficiency. Thus, the routing problem in WSN for energy efficiency becomes a typical PDE solution. Our simulation results show significant improvement in energy consumption. This paper investigates the implementation of the household low-power energy harvesting (LoPEH) wireless sensor networks (WSN) over log-normal fading channels. The relays are battery-operated and the stochastic harvested energy flow to the batteries is characterized with the Markov property of energy buffer status. The communication is established with the combination of direct link and cooperative relays. The best relay is chosen based on a relay selection (RS) scheme namely optimal relay selection (OPRS). It can be drawn that within a particular range of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the energy harvesting (EH) relay-aided protocol can remarkably boost the overall system performance. Power consumption is considered one of the most significant challenges in the wireless network sensors (WSNs). In this paper, an investigation of the power consumption is done by making a comparison between static and dynamic WSNs. We have compared the results of the static network with the results of the dynamic network. Static and dynamic wireless Sensor networks have the same architecture (Homogenous) and proposed protocol. Depending on the suggested protocol, the simulation results show that the energy consumption in the static wireless sensor network was less than the dynamic wireless sensor network. However, moving the sensors in the dynamic WSN present real improvement in delivering packets to the base station. In the proposed routing protocol, transmitting data process is done in a hierarchal way. Cheap sensors are introduced and deploy them intensively to improve the QoS in the network. Intrusion detection on the sea is an important surveillance problem for harbor protection, border security, and commercial facilities such as oil platforms, fisheries facilities and other marine wealth. Widely used methods for ship detection are using radar or satellite which is very expensive. Besides the high cost, the satellite image is easy affected by the cloud. And it is difficult to detect small boats or ships on the sea with marine radar due to the noise or clutters generated by the uneven sea surface. In this paper, we propose ship speed estimation by taking advantage of ship-generated wave's characteristics with Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). We use a grid fashion for sensor node deployment that can be clustered into three and five sensors. We propose the ship speed formulation for each type of claster. We use three sensors, we may expect to improve energy efficiency by involving small number of sensor for detection. We use five sensors, we may expect to improve accuracy of detection. We also propose an algorithm for detection by incorporating individual sensor detection. Environmental monitoring is a process for observing around with various conditions. Recently, internet of things (IoT) and wireless sensor network (WSN) technologies support to solve these problems. In this paper, we implemented a system to monitor environmental conditions using IoT and WSN technology. The data measure is temperature, humidity, carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) sensors. All sensor data will be sent and stored to the cloud through the internet in real-time. We provide applications for monitoring website and mobile phone-based environmental conditions, so users can access wherever and whenever. Furthermore, we also confirm the evaluation of analyst data that used k-NN method is better than other methods with an accuracy rate of 99.0657%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we suggested two approaches to minimizing the CH packet size by considering the accuracy of prediction of sensed data at the base station. The proposed coding schemes based relative difference (CS-RD) and based the factor of precision (CS-FP) instead of the absolute change method that has been used in recent work. The aim is to enhance the accuracy of prediction data at the base station. Therefore, the performance metric was evaluated in term of the accuracy of prediction data at the base station. Simulation results showed that the proposed approaches performed better in term of the accuracy of prediction data at the base station. Specifically, the distortion percentage and average Absolut error in the CS-RD and CS-FP method decreased by 50% and 88% better than the current new aggregation method (ADATDC). Data gathering is an attractive operation for obtaining information in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). But one of important challenges is to minimize energy consumption of networks. In this paper, an integration of distributed compressive sensing (CS) and virtual multi-input multi-output (vMIMO) in WSNs is proposed to significantly decrease the data gathering cost. The scheme first constructs a distributed data compression model based on low density parity check-like (LDPC-like) codes. Then a cluster-based dynamic virtual MIMO transmission protocol is proposed. The number of clusters, number of cooperative nodes and the constellation size are determined by a new established optimization model under the restrictions of compression model. Finally, simulation results show that the scheme can reduce the data gathering cost and prolong the sensor network’s lifetime in a reliable guarantee of sensory data recovery quality. Wireless Sensor Network is a collection of independent nodes and create a network for monitoring purposes in various scenarios like military operation, environmental operation etc. WSN network size is increasing very rapidly these days, due to large network size energy consumption is also increased and it has small battery, lifetime of network decreases due to early death of nodes and it impact the overall system performance. Clustering is a technique for enhance the network lifetime in WSN. Here in this paper we propose a new multi-objective adaptive swarm optimization (MASO) technique for clustering and computes the maximum number of clusters, which is best suited for the network. Each cluster has cluster head and cluster members and performed the task of local information extraction. Cluster head gathers all the extracted information from member nodes and send it to the base station, where base station performed global information extraction from all the cluster head nodes and generate some useful result. In MASO technique, object is used to find the best global position for the node and compare with existing position value. If new value is better than the old value, than node moves to a new position and object update their table for this new position. We are considering error probability in transmission of data packet in one hop communication. Here obtained the results are compared with other research in terms of overall network lifetime and effect on network lifetime when the size of the network is changed. In an underwater wireless sensor network (UWSN), the location of the sensor nodes plays a significant role in the localization process. The location information is obtained by using the known positions of anchor nodes. For underwater environments, instead of using various static anchor nodes, mobile anchor nodes are more efficient and cost-effective to cover the monitoring area. Nevertheless, the utilization of these mobile anchors requires adequate path planning strategy. Mzost of the path planning algorithms do not consider irregular deployment, caused by the effects of water currents. Consequently, this leads towards the inefficient energy consumption by mobile anchors due to unnecessary transmission of beacon messages at unnecessary areas. Therefore, an efficient dynamic mobile path planning (EDMPP) algorithm to tackle the irregular deployment and non-collinear virtual beacon point placement, targeting the underwater environment settings is presented in this paper. In addition, EDMPP controls the redundant beacon message deployment and overlapping, for beacon message distribution in mobile assistant localization. The simulation results show that the performance of the EDMPP is improved by increasing the localization accuracy and decreasing the energy consumption with optimum path length. Aiming at the measurement of cement rotary kiln’s axis, the paper presents the design method of a wireless dynamic measurement system for rotary kiln’s axis. A wireless sensor network monitoring system that can collect multiple parameters was designed, which integrates the detection functions for kiln shell axis deviation, kiln tire axis deviation and drive gear synchronizing signal, and has the advantages of wireless transmission, low power consumption, and easy to install. ZigBee tree network was developed, which is beneficial to expand the capacity of wireless network, improve the efficiency of data transmission, reduce the cost, and shorten the development cycle. The sever measurement software was designed, which has the functions of data wireless acquisition and analysis for rotary kiln axis. Continuous advances in the areas of sensor networks have made wireless sensor networks (WSNs) attractive for a wide variety of applications, with vastly varying requirements and characteristics. As the data sensed by nodes usually contain sensitive information, adherence to data protection requirements is vital in WSNs. This paper introduces a new and robust key pre-distribution key management scheme using random polynomial functions and a matrix. The proposed mechanism significantly increases storage efficiency and enhances network resilience against node capture. In order to generate wireless microwave power charging technology in coal mine tunnels, it is necessary to know the power characteristics of wireless electromagnetic wave along the tunnel walls. In this paper, the experimental results of narrowband wireless electromagnetic wave propagation measurements are presented, and a statistical model of the power characteristics at 2.4 GHz in real rectangular mine tunnels is proposed. Two standard half-wave dipole antennas were used to perform the field experiments in tunnels with different wall materials. A 10-meter wireless charging distance belongs to the free-space propagation zone. The path loss exponents rely heavily on the location of the receiver and antenna polarizations. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are prone to node breakdowns due to energy constraints, which contribute to frequent topology changes. Moreover, since sensor nodes have restricted transmission range, multiple hops are needed by the node in order to forward the packets from one node to the other and this raises very challenging issues when designing routing protocols. Most of the proposed single path routing schemes use a periodic low-rate flooding of data in order to recover from path failures, which causes higher consumption in sensor node resources. So multipath routing is an optimal approach to enhance the network lifetime. In this paper, a robust path construction for a reliable data transmission in node-disjoint multipath routing (RNDMR) is proposed for WSNs. The proposed RNDMR has the ability to provide a low overhead path construction as well as provide data transmission reliability by using XOR-based coding algorithm, which entails low utilization of resources, such as low storage space and lesser computing power. In the proposed RNDMR, the procedure involves the splitting up of all transmitted messages into many different segments of equal size, before adding the XOR-based error correction codes and distributing it among multiple paths simultaneously in order to boost reliable data transmission and to be assured that the essential fragment of the packet arrives at the sink node without any additional consumption of energy and undue delay. By using simulations, the performance of RNDMR was assessed and compares it with ReInForm routing. The results illustrate that RNDMR attains low energy consumption, records low average delay and routing overhead, as well as increased packet delivery ratio when compared with ReInForm Routing. This paper presents optimization of wireless sensor network (WSN) topology for forest fire detection. The sensors for this purpose are deployed in forest, grassland and open space, which have different attenuation properties in electromagnetic waves. For this reason, routers which receive signals from sensors and send them to the base station must be deployed considering these differences. In this work, we develop an optimization method for WSN topology based on simulated annealing considering the differences in the attenuation property. The vegetation data are taken from Landsat data. Because the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value greatly changes, the direct use of RSSI value has more errors in the positioning process as the basis to calculate the position of anchor nodes. This paper proposes a RSSI node localization algorithm based on constraint particle swarm optimization (PSO-RSSI). In the algorithm, particle swarm optimization is used to select anchor nodes set which are near the unknown node. The algorithm takes an element in the set, and measure distance between it and the other elements in the set. Then, the maximum likelihood method is used to calculate the coordinates. According to the difference between the calculated coordinates and the actual coordinates of the anchor node, the obtain coordinate of unknown node is corrected. When all the elements in the set perform such operation, the statistical methods are used to determine the coordinates of the unknown node. The algorithm embodies all the reference points influence on positioning, corrects the error problem on a single reference node positioning in the past. Wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of hundred to thousands sensor nodes to gathered the information from physical environment. Different clustering based algorithms have been proposed to improve network lifetime and energy efficiency. Practically it is not feasible to recharge the battery of sensor nodes when they are sensing the data. In such situation energy is crucial resource and it should be improved for life span of WSN. Cluster head (CH) has an important role in hierarchical energy efficient routing protocols because it receives data from nodes and sends towards base station (BS) or sink node. This paper presents a grid based cluster head selection (GBCHS) mechanism by dividing the network field into MXN uniform size partitions that aims to minimize the energy dissipation of sensor nodes and enhancing network lifetime. A vehicular Ad hoc network is an emerging and widely adopted technology because of their potentiality for innovative applications in transportation sector. Recently, the technology has been faced various challenges and rely on expensive architecture. The implementation of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) in vehicular networks reduces the required investment and improves intelligent applications performance for driving safety and traffic efficiency. In this paper, we propose a wireless sensor based hybrid architecture for navigation systems for vehicular Ad hoc networks. The interference issue is most vibrant on low-powered networks like wireless sensor network (WSN). In some cases, the heavy interference on WSN from different technologies and devices result in life threatening situations. In this paper, a machine learning (ML) based lightweight interference mitigation scheme for WSN is proposed. The scheme detects and identifies heterogeneous interference like Wifi, bluetooth and microwave oven using a lightweight feature extraction method and ML lightweight decision tree. It also provides WSN an adaptive interference mitigation solution by helping to choose packet scheduling, Acknowledgement (ACK)-retransmission or channel switching as the best countermeasure. The scheme is simulated with test data to evaluate the accuracy performance and the memory consumption. Evaluation of the proposed scheme's memory profile shows a 14% memory saving compared to a fast fourier transform (FFT) based periodicity estimation technique and 3% less memory compared to logistic regression-based ML model, hence proving the scheme is lightweight. The validation test shows the scheme has a high accuracy at 95.24%. It shows a precision of 100% in detecting WiFi and microwave oven interference while a 90% precision in detecting bluetooth interference. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A novel wireless sensor network node (WSNN) is presented in this paper where the solar energy harvester system is used as an autonomous power solution for endless battery lifetime. In this sensor node, the meander-line Inverted-F-Antenna (MIFA) is proposed and integrated in a single-CC2650 chip of Texas Instrument. The simple structure, low cost, compact size, high efficiency and low power consumption are advantages of this single-chip WSNN. The experimental results show that MIFA antenna is promising solution to enhance communication performance in WSN. In addition, the investigated single-chip WSNN with multi-wireless technologies including Bluetooth Low Energy and Zigbee as well as 6LowPAN is an attractive device for internet of thing (IoT) applications. Plants, flowers and crops are living things around us that makes our earth more productive and beautiful. In order to growth healthy, they need water, light and nutrition from the soil in order to effect cleaning air naturally and produce oxygen to the world. Therefore, a technology that manage to brilliantly control plants watering rate according to its soil moisture and user requirement is proposed in this paper. The developed system included an Internet of Things (IoT) in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) environment where it manages and monitors the irrigation system either manually or automatically, depending on the user requirement. This proposed system applied Arduino technology and NRF24L01 as the microprocessor and transceiver for the communication channel, respectively. Smart agriculture and smart lifestyle can be developed by implementing this technology for the future work. MAC Protocols enables sensor nodes of the same WSN to access a common shared communication channel. Many researchers have proposed different solutions explaining how to design and implement these protocols. The main goal of most MACs protocols is how to prolong lifetime of the WSN as long as possible by reducing energy consumption since it is often impossible to change or to recharge sensors' batteries. The majority of these protocols designed for WSN are based on "duty-cycle" technique. Every node of the WSN operates on two periods: active period and sleep period to save energy. Until now (to our knowledge) there is no ideal protocol for this purpose. The main reason relies on the lack of standardization at lower layers (physical layer) and (physical) sensor hardware. Therefore, the MAC protocol choice remains application-dependent. A useful MAC protocol should be able to adapt to network changes (topology, nodes density and network size). Underwater Wireless Acoustic Sensor Networks (UWASNs) are creating attentiveness in researchers due to its wide area of applications. To extract the data from underwater and transmit to watersurface, numerous clustering and data aggregation schemes are employed. The main objectives of clustering and data aggregation schemes are to decrease the consumption of energy and prolong the lifetime of the network. In this paper, we focus on initial clustering of sensor nodes based on their geographical locations using fuzzy logic. The probability of degree of belongingness of a sensor node to its cluster, along with number of clusters is analysed and discussed. Based on the energy and distance the cluster head nodes are determined. Finally using using similarity function data aggregation is analysed and discussed. The proposed scheme is simulated in MATLAB and compared with LEACH algorithm. One of Machine Type Communication (MTC) applications is Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). WSN is an intelligent network application system to collect, integrate, and transmit data autonomously. Sensor nodes in WSN, communicate over short distance via a wireless medium and collaborate to accomplish a common task, such as environment monitoring, military surveillance and industrial process control. The constraining aspect of WSN usage is the limited power of each sensor node, so energy efficiency becomes an important issue in WSN. Routing is a function in WSN, which consumes a substantial amount of energy. One of the routing protocols that can increase the energy efficiency of WSN is Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH). In this paper, High Altitude Platform (HAP) is used to replace Base Station (BS) as sink node in WSN. HAP is designed at altitudes of 17, 20 and 22 km. Then WSN over HAP using the LEACH routing protocol evaluated its performance. Performance indicators that we evaluated are engergy consumption, number of dead nodes and total average packets which is sent to HAP. From a series of simulations conducted, the results obtained that the higher the laying of HAP, then the coverage area will be greater. Intra-WBSN plays an important role in health monitoring, military and consumer electronics. It iscomposed of wireless bio-sensor nodes which are strategically placed on the body. Due to body posture movement, network topology of Intra-WBSN changes continuously. It plays a significant role in Intra-WBSN. In proposed Pm-EEMRP, network stability, energy efficiency and high throughput are the prime parametersfor body posture movement in which sensing informations from bio-sensor nodes are forwarded to relay nodes. Relay nodesare deployed in cloths, which aggregate these data and forward it to body network controller (BNC). It provides reliable and comfortable health monitoring. In this paper, we propose a new platform for air pollution monitoring system based on wireless sensor network (WSN) with Tree-like Mesh topology. We used ZigBee device and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) for data transfer protocol. The results of a conducted test showed a good performance in delivering data in real time mode. We found that the fewer hop produced higher throughput but lower delay and packet loss ratio. The system performance demonstrated that the reduction of one hop increased 32.06% of throughput, decreased 23.28% of delay and 0.01% of packet loss ratio. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of several tiny devices that are dispersed randomly for gathering network field. Clustering mechanism divides the WSN into different sub-regions called clusters. Individual cluster is consisting of cluster head (CH) and member nodes. The main research challenges behind clustering mechanism are to optimize network overheads with efficient data delivery. Sensor nodes are operated by batteries and practically it is not feasible to replace them during sensing the environment so energy should be effectively utilized among sensors for improving overall network performance. This research paper presents an improved energy aware cluster based data routing (i-ECBR) scheme, by dividing the network regions into uniform sized square partitions and localized CH election mechanism. In addition, consistent end-to-end data routing is performed for improving data dissemination. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is small embedded devices deployed in large scale network with capability to sense, compute, and communicate. It combines modern sensor, microelectronic, computation, communication, and distributed processing technology. WSN has been taking an important contribution in structural health monitoring system, especially in Suramadu Bridge, one of the longest span bridges in Indonesia connecting Surabaya (East Java) and Madura Island. Due to subjected by environmental circumstance, it is necessary to implement intelligent and autonomous WSN to monitor the bridge condition, detect the bridge damage, and send warning message to bridge users when unsafe condition occurs. The multi-agent system is a promising approach to be implemented on intelligent and autonomous WSN, especially in the bridge structural health monitoring system. In this approach agents are empowered to have several intelligent learning capabilities for structural monitoring, damage detection, and prediction. One of the distinguished techniques used with wireless sensor networks to access the network is utilizing direct sequence-code division multiple access. However, amount of consumed energy and multiple access interference are still considered as the main problems with employing such networks. The consumed energy and interference are rising when number of users (receivers) increases. Therefore, this paper is conducted to investigate mitigating influence these factors through analyzing the minimum energy coding which exploits redundant bits for saving power with employing radio frequency link and on-offkeying modulation. These factors are analyzed and discussed for several levels of expected errors in the utilizing channel, through the bit error rates and amount of signal to noise ratio for different number of users. The rapid development in communications and sensors technologies make wireless sensor networks (WSNs) as essential key in several advanced applications such as internet of things (IoT). The increasing demands on using WSNs required high quality of services (QoS) because most WSNs applications have critical requirements. This work aims to offer a routing protocol to improve the QoS in WSNs, taking in consideration its ability to prolong the lifetime of the network, optimize the utilization of the limited bandwidth available, and decrease the latency that accompanies the packets transmitted to the gateway. The proposed protocol is called overlapped hierarchical cluster routing protocol (OHCRP). OHCRP is compared with the traditional routing protocols such as SPEED, and THVR.
