Online social networks (OSNs) suffer from forged messages. Current studies have typically been focused on the detection of forged messages and do not provide the analysis of the behaviors of message publishers and network strategies to suppress forged messages. This paper carries out the analysis by taking a game theoretic approach, where infinitely repeated games are constructed to capture the interactions between a publisher and a network administrator and suppress forged messages in OSNs. Critical conditions, under which the publisher is disincentivized to publish any forged messages, are identified in the absence and presence of misclassification on genuine messages. Closed-form expressions are established for the maximum number of forged messages that a malicious publisher could publish. Confirmed by the numerical results, the proposed infinitely repeated games reveal that forged messages can be suppressed by improving the payoffs for genuine messages, increasing the cost of bots, and/or reducing the payoffs for forged messages. The increasing detection probability of forged messages or decreasing misclassification probability of genuine messages also has a strong impact on the suppression of forged messages. An essay is presented on book history in New Zealand from 1970-2010. It presents a sample study illustrating that most books are static and that the least electronic books can have more influence in shaping the print culture in the country. It explores why Australia has been successful in promoting books abroad and the factors that restrict book circulation internationally which include taxation and distribution points.

The increasing availability and prominence of e-books has led to a perception in some quarters that the requirement for physical books is decreasing, as most, or all scholarly material is openly available in digital form. Some academic administrators and librarians have suggested that it may be possible or desirable to have a solely, or predominantly electronic academic library. This study tests that assumption by randomly selecting a sample of titles from a mid-size Australian academic library and searching for suitable electronic copies. The conclusion of the paper is that a maximum of 33% of titles held by the case study library are available as e-books, and on a practical basis about 26% of titles held by the case study library could be readily obtained as e-books. Romance fiction, romance authors and readers have been routinely marginalised, in spite of their significant role in contemporary popular culture. Sales figures for the book trade indicate that romance fiction is the most popular of all genres with ebook technologies being led by romance and erotica publishers. Yet, many public libraries have not collected romance fiction or collect only token examples of this genre. Drawing from data in the Australian Romance Readers Association annual survey on reader usage, this paper will discuss how the romance reader accesses their reading choices, impediments to the romance reader accessing reading materials, and the role of the public library and how library practitioners, through Readers' Advisory practices, can meet the romance reader's needs. This paper is based on an Australian government-funded research project looking at the implications of digitization for the book publishing industry, which was originally completed in 2008 and later extended to cover up to the present day. Although Australian-based the project and subsequent research has wider implications for application elsewhere. The paper initially provides a snapshot of Australian book publishing in a global context, and then summarizes our findings on the current and potential future impact of digital technologies. The original research employed an interpretive research paradigm, using a mixed methodology design, including an online survey of book publishers and the conduct of 14 case studies. The extension of the original research project led to its being given a more global dimension. In reporting this new research, the paper discusses in detail the diverse range of technologies, their limitations and the risks and opportunities they offer to the book publishing industry. This interpretive study of change in Australian book publishing, included a survey of book publishers and the conduct of 14 case studies in five categories of publisher: general trade, academic, professional, specialist and university. This paper reports in detail on the experience on one general trade publisher as it sought to face the challenges of globalization and of organizational and technological change. The major finding was that digitization is indeed, impacting on business models for book publishing, with current models comprising something of a hybrid between the traditional and the innovative. Reflecting the presence in Australia of similar trends and issues that are affecting book publishing around the world, the findings are of relevance both to book publishers and to researchers. The work is original in that relatively little recent academic research has been conducted into book publishing in Australia, particularly as regards the implications of digitization for business models. This article undertakes a review of the literature related to shared print storage and national repositories from 1980-2013. There is a separate overview of the relevant Australian literature. The coverage includes both relevant journal literature and major reports. In the process the article traces the developments in the theory and practice of shared print storage as the rapid emergence of digital content and services became apparent. This includes the increasingly broad-scale that has emerged in the planning for future print storage. Note is also taken of the paucity of research based evidence, and the discrepancies between the literature representing the interests of professional bodies with supra-regional responsibilities and the (sometimes) lack of activity or engagement by managers of individual collections. The Australian government's strict censorship regime of the mid-twentieth century banned a range of imported books, from popular to pornographic to literary titles. Drawing on the archived censor reports of the committee, this article will argue that Australia's Commonwealth Literature Censorship Board is best understood within a tradition of conservative thinking about literature's social function which can be traced back to Matthew Arnold. This paper examines the banning of James Baldwin's Another Country as an example of politically conservative anxieties about race and sexuality influencing the impetus behind the censor's decisions. The article reports on creating an electronic edition of Joseph Furphy's novel, "Such Is Life." The novel is about life in rural Australia. The demanding nature of the novel attracted a few dedicated followers, who memorialized Furphy and his contribution to Australian literary culture. There are several legitimate versions that are visible among the fragments of manuscripts.

The University of South Australia Library (UniSA) has long recognized the advantages of e-books. In late 2011, the Library implemented a Digital Strategy that resulted in dramatic changes to the proportion of print and electronic monograph resources being acquired for the Library collection. The building of a new Learning Centre prompted the Digital Strategy and has provided both opportunities and challenges for the Library. Set in a period of heightened public debate in the 2000s and with predictions of the demise of printed books in the background, this study examines whether Australians turned to books in relation to some of the most heated international issues of the era: those associated with the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. Analysis of the data reveals that over one and a half million books worth over AUS $50 million (AUS $50,213,000) which could be read directly in relation to debates about the wars were sold in the 6 years timeframe and far more if indirect reading is included. This research is one of the first major scholarly studies internationally to identify English-language contemporary reading patterns based on Nielsen BookScan sales data and is located in an illustrative timeframe (2003-2008): after the introduction of Nielsen BookScan in Australia and before the popularity of ebooks.
