Purpose - The aim of the paper was to quantify the basic parameters of the publication activity of the Czech Republic, to compare them with the publication activities of other countries, to quantify the share of countries with a larger or smaller annual increase in documents to the Scopus database and to look for connections between the annual increase in documents and the H-index of the countries and other parameters. Design/Methodology/Approach - The data was obtained using selected indicators on the SCImago Journal & Country Rank portal, and further processed using the Excel statistical tool. Results - The creation of the Scopus database is mainly carried out by countries with a high increase in documents. In 2020, China came first in the annual increase of documents, surpassing the US for the first time since 1996. Documents by authors with affiliation to the Czech Republic account for 2.54% in all fields and 4.29% in the field of Agricultural and Biological Sciences within the EU-28 countries. Among V4 countries, the Czech Republic has the highest annual accretion of documents per year and also the largest share of document creation per capita. Originality/Value - The work is original in the way of processing the data obtained on the portal. This paper is focused on motives and strategies of migration of the Muslims population to the Czech Republic and how they evaluate their life in the Czech territory. The article is based on study and analysis of information resources and field research and significantly on a qualitative research using the biographical method searching for the reasons of migration, host country position and assessment of the life of Muslims living in the Czech Republic being identified together with the factors determining the process of their integration. Ancient coppice woodlands are forest stands of coppice origin with a long-term continual development and preserved typical natural and historic elements of old coppices. Significant natural elements in ancient coppices include polycormons of coppice shoots, pollard trees, trees with holes, dendrotelms, reserved trees, ecotones, glades and significant plant and animal species. Significant historic elements of localities with ancient coppices include archaeological monuments, boundary ditches and walls, boundary stones, boundary trees, myths and legends, sacral objects, old roads and paths, technical objects and plough land remainders. The paper presents differentiation of assumptions for the occurrence of ancient coppices in the territory of the Czech Republic using the COPF coefficient and examples of results from basic regional inventory (Kuřim region) and detailed local survey (locality Lebeďák) of coppice-originated forests. The extinction of the phenomenon of ancient coppice woodlands would mean irreparable impoverishment of the natural and cultural heritage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The identification and analysis of regional disparities are increasingly important issues for a better understanding of regions and their socioeconomic development, and the subsequent application of regional policies. The objective assessment of regional disparities is an important step in directing regional policies by individual countries and supranational institutions such as the European Union. The paper deals with selected indicators of regional socio-economic disparities in the territory of the Czech Republic that were observed, visualized and evaluated to contribute to measuring regional disparities. The indicators were divided into three categories - demographic, economic and infrastructural - and defined and analyzed at the level of the Czech NUTS3 regions (counties), with the data organized as a geodatabase within ArcGIS software. A synthetic index was used to define and analyze the disparities within the three categories. The values for the indicators, along with the results of the regional evaluation, were presented cartographically as a series of cartograms, and the analysis and cartographic visualizations were used to reach conclusions about existing disparities. The study deals with the identification systems based on EU standards URN:NBN. For the analysis were selected systems in Finland, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany (The German system provides services for Austria and Switzerland too). The paper analyzes the technical solutions and national diversity of individual cases implementations of the URN: NBN standard. The study in the introduction gives an overview of the identification system for digital documents and describes in detail the standard URN:NBN. The main part of the study is based on a comparison of selected categories (object of identification, participants in the system, the syntax model and the rules of system) of various national identification system, including systems ČIDLO (Czech system based on standard URN:NBN). The study aims to present the possibilities and limitations of the system using standard URN:NBN and to emphasize its role in the processes of long-term preservation and accessibility of digital documents of national cultural heritage. This paper presents a sociological analysis of the image of a 'good village', as portrayed in the annual Czech competition Village of the Year. It focuses on the positive representations attached to the rural in the political and expert discourse. The analysis is rooted in cultural rural sociology and in its study of rural idyll. It is argued that a specific kind of rural idyll is produced in the competition. This idyll is analysed using the photographs submitted to the competition by the villages themselves. A combination of visual methods is employed to uncover the positive values attached to the images. The results show that activity and social life play a key role in the image of a 'good village' thus produced. On the other hand, there are virtually no references to agriculture. The first biocorridors were established in the territory of the Czech Republic in the 1990s. One of them, planted on a former agricultural land, was the Radějov biocorridor. This paper deals with the growth and development of trees and shrubs on three permanent research plots in 1993 - 2012. Repeated inventories of trees as well as monitoring of their biometrical parameters were carried out in both tree and shrub layers. The number of trees decreases with the increasing level of stand canopy. Moreover, mean heights, diameters and crown projection areas of selected woody plants were compared. This paper presents the most important historical facts about all forensic medicine workplaces in the Czech Republic since the beginning till present day, including a perspective on how to establish a new one. Each of the University Forensic Medicine Institutes or district Departments is covered by at least one author. The oldest institute is in Prague and in Brno, the youngest is in Pardubice.
