[Objective] Soil organic carbon (SOC) is not only an indicator of soil health but also plays a crucial role in feedback interaction between global warming and carbon stock in terrestrial ecosystems. Its dynamics is modulated by a multitude of interactive abiotic and biotic factors. In this paper, we analyze the spatial distribution of SOC in the plough layer and its correlation with soil texture and other geochemical properties in the region of Zhengzhou in Henan province. [Method] Soil samples were taken from a grid network in the region. SOC, bulk density, soil texture and other geochemical properties in each soil sample were measured. The correlation between SOC and soil nutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and micronutrients in the soil, was analyzed using the GeoChemStudio software. [Result] The calcareous skeletol soil in the region has the highest SOC, reaching 2.307%. The SOC content varied from 0.1%-11.6% across the region, and was normally distributed with a mean of 1.134%. The SOC was positively correlated with N, P2O5, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Mo and B, and their associated correlation coefficients were 0.804 5, 0.223 0, 0.156 3, 0.119 1, 0.223 8, 0.263 4, 0.162 8 and 0.191 1, respectively. Negative correlations were found between SOC and K2O and pH, and their associated correlation coefficients were -0.088 8 and -0.195 7, respectively. The average SOC content in the plough layer in the region was 1.09%. Spatially, SOC was rich in Xinmi, Dengfeng and Gongyi in the southwest of the region. In terms of soil texture, SOC is higher in skeletol soil and calcareous cinnamon soil than in other soils. SOC stored in the topsoil in the whole region was 1 012.87x104 t, with 523.13x104 t stored in the cinnamon soils and calcareous cinnamon soils, accounting for 51.64% of the total topsoil SOC in the region. Based on urban flood hydrology processes and hydrodynamic principles, the stormwater management model (SWMM) was improved upon. The coupling and implementation methods of the SWMM and two-dimensional hydrodynamic model are proposed. The improved SWMM was coupled with the hydrodynamic model both from the vertical and horizontal directions. The hydrology and hydrodynamic coupling model (HHDCM) was constructed and verified by using extreme rainstorm data. Taking July.20 extreme rainstorms (from July 17 to July 20, 2021, i.e., July.20 extreme rainstorm) in Zhengzhou city, Henan Province, China, as an example and using the HHDCM model, the flood disaster caused by July.20 extreme rainstorm was simulated. Based on the simulation results, an inundation distribution map was drawn for the urban area. A comparison between the simulated and measured results reveals that the maximum relative error in the simulated results is 12.5%. Therefore, the HHDCM model proposed in this paper has desirable accuracy and reliability for simulating extreme urban rainstorms and flood disasters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Green and high-efficiency water resource utilization patterns hold paramount importance in promoting sustainable economic and social development, as well as in attaining the goal of carbon neutrality. Most research on water utilization efficiency have taken a general perspective to quantify it, neglecting independent relationships and green effects among water use sectors. This study proposed an integrated measurement model of green water resource utilization efficiency (GWRUE), combined with the carbon dioxide emission equivalent analysis method of water resource behaviors, and constructed an input–output indicator system of GWRUE from four dimensions: domestic, industrial, agricultural, and ecological water. The aim is to achieve the measurement of GWRUE towards carbon neutrality. In this paper, 18 cities in Henan Province were used as instances to carry out the study. The results show that (1) The CO2 emission equivalent from multiple water use sectors in Henan Province showed a tendency of fluctuating reduction during the study period, from a peak of 21,090,100 tons in 2012 to a low of 12,351,900 tons in 2021, with large spatial variations, and the CO2 emission effect existed in most cities, with Zhengzhou being the highest. (2) The GWRUE of domestic, industrial, and agricultural water in Henan Province and 18 cities exhibited an overall upward trend, while that of ecological water presented a downward trend and was at the lowest level among the four sectors. (3) Consolidated GWRUE in Henan Province tended to decrease and then increase; its value was 0.512 in 2011, 0.448 in 2017, and 0.586 in 2021, and most of its cities were at a Medium level. The findings of this study can serve as a theoretical and practical basis for improving the level of green and efficient utilization of water resources, as well as offer references for relevant water use sectors to formulate CO2 emission reduction policies. Regional land-use change is the leading cause of ecosystem carbon stock change; it is essential to investigate the response of LUCC to carbon stock to achieve the strategic goal of "double carbon" in a region. This paper proposes a residual network algorithm, the Residual Multi-module Fusion Network (R-MFNet), to address the problems of blurred feature boundary information, low classification accuracy, and high noise, which are often encountered in traditional classification methods. The network algorithm uses an R-ASPP module to expand the receptive field of the feature map to extract sufficient and multi-scale target features; it uses the attention mechanism to assign weights to the multi-scale information of each channel and space. It can fully preserve the remote sensing image features extracted by the convolutional layer through the residual connection. Using this classification network method, the classification of three Landsat-TM/OLI images of Zhengzhou City (the capital of Henan Province) from 2001 to 2020 was realized (the years that the three images were taken are 2001, 2009, and 2020). Compared with SVM, 2D-CNN, and deep residual networks (ResNet), the overall accuracy of the test dataset is increased by 10.07%, 3.96%, and 1.33%, respectively. The classification achieved using this method is closer to the real land surface, and its accuracy is higher than that of the finished product data obtained using the traditional classification method, providing high-precision land-use classification data for the subsequent carbon storage estimation research. Based on the land-use classification data and the carbon density data corrected by meteorological data (temperature and precipitation data), the InVEST model is used to analyze the land-use change and its impact on carbon storage in the region. The results showed that, from 2001 to 2020, the carbon stock in the study area showed a downward trend, with a total decrease of 1.48 × 10 7 t. Over the course of this 19-year period, the farmland area in Zhengzhou decreased by 1101.72 km 2 , and the built land area increased sharply by 936.16 km 2 . The area of land transfer accounted for 29.26% of the total area of Zhengzhou City from 2001 to 2009, and 31.20% from 2009 to 2020. The conversion of farmland to built land is the primary type of land transfer and the most important reason for decreasing carbon stock. The research results can provide support, in the form of scientific data, for land-use management decisions and carbon storage function protections in Zhengzhou and other cities around the world undergoing rapid urbanization. As new urbanization constantly develops, the county economy plays a vital role between country and city, and high economic resilience is necessary to support and safeguard for smooth functioning of the county development. The paper constructs the index system of county economic resilience in Henan Province from three dimensions: risk resistance ability, self-stability, and sustainable development ability, and to empirically analyze the economic resilience of 104 counties and cities in the province from 2013 to 2020 using the entropy weight-normal cloud model. The results show that Henan counties' economic resilience increases slowly over time and decreases spatially from the center to the surrounding region, with Zhengzhou as the main center and Luoyang and Sanmenxia as the subcenter; risk resistance ability and self-stabilization are more influential than the sustainable development ability; the key indicators affecting economic resilience are GDP per capita, retail sales of social consumer goods per capita, financial self-sufficiency rate, education expenditure per capita, and population mobility. Therefore, the counties in Henan should find the right positioning to improve economic resilience; central cities such as Zhengzhou and Luoyang should play their strong functions, while strengthening support for peripheral counties. Near-zero carbon emission power (NZCEP) plants, consisting of gas-fired units; wind turbines; power-to-gas (P2G); and carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) systems, have recently received a lot of attention due to their enormous benefits in reducing carbon emissions and increasing the consumption of renewable energy. However, a complex environment of interest and a combination of risks makes their development very slow. This paper establishes a risk analysis framework for NZCEP considering multi-stakeholder participation. Firstly, a synthetic risk factor system was constructed based on stakeholders' interests. Subsequently, interval type II trapezoidal fuzzy numbers were used and final weights were calculated from both subjective and objective aspects. Finally, we applied an acronym in Portuguese of the interactive and multi-criteria decision-making (TODIM) method to site selection to achieve a balance of interests of all stakeholders. In addition, a case study was conducted. The case result demonstrates that Zhengzhou in Henan Province is the best choice for a NZCEP power plant. A further finding is that government plays an important role in the development of NZCEP plants, with site selection results being the most sensitive to changes in the government's risk appetite. To overcome the limitations of long-term prediction of PM2.5 concentration, a multi-factor information flow causality analysis method is used to screen suitable meteorological and air pollutant-related factors and concatenate them with a PM2.5 sequence as the dataset. A modal decomposition algorithm is used as a module to be integrated into the autoformer (transformer improved with autocorrelation mechanism) model to improve it, and the modal autoformer (empirical modal decomposition combined with autoformer) is proposed. The constructed model decomposes the sequence into several components by using the modal decomposition module and uses the self-correlation mechanism and decomposition structure to decompose and extract features of different components at the time-feature level. Based on the matching method, the model is adjusted for different component features to improve the long-term prediction effect. The model is applied to three cities in Henan Province, Zhengzhou, Luoyang, and Zhumadian, as examples for experiments, and gated neural unit (GRU), informer, autoformer, and modal GRU (empirical modal decomposition combined with GRU model) are constructed for comparative verification. The results show that the modal autoformer can better cope with the complex characteristics of long-term prediction of the PM2.5 time series, has strong spatial adaptability and that its various indicators are optimal for the three cities, with R2 values being all above 0.96, where the highest is 0.987 in Zhengzhou; MAPE (Mean absolute percentage error) values all being less than 10, where the best is 7.602 in Zhumadian; and MAE (Mean absolute error) values all being less than 4. To address the problems of traditional hydrological and hydraulic methods of estimating disasters in urban flood areas, such as small scale, poor timeliness, and difficulty of obtaining data, an inversion method of estimating urban flood disaster area based on remote sensing spectroscopy is proposed. In this paper, the spatial distribution of urban flood disasters is first inverted based on large-scale multidimensional remote sensing spectral orthography. Then, spatial coupling inversion of the remote sensing spectrum-urban economy-flood disaster is performed by simulating the urban economic density through single spectral remote sensing at night. Finally, losses at the urban flood area are estimated. The results show that (1) the heavy rain in Henan Province on 20 July is centered in Zhengzhou, and the spatial distribution of urban flood disasters accords with Zipf's law; (2) the estimated damage to the urban flood area in Henan Province is 132,256 billion yuan, and Zhengzhou has the most serious losses at 43,147 billion yuan, accounting for 32.6% of the entire province's losses. These results are consistent with the official data (accuracy ≥ 90%, R2 ≥ 0.95). This study can provide a new approach for accurately and efficiently estimating urban flood damage at a large scale. In order to carry out a quantitative analysis of the teaching effect of college English courses based on multivariate matrix evaluation model, this paper takes as research objects 87-year 2020-enrolled undergraduate students from a university in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, central China. On the basis of summarizing and analyzing previous research works, this study expounded the research status and significance of quantitative analysis of the teaching effect of college English courses, elaborated the development background, current status, and future challenges of multivariate matrix evaluation model, introduced the data source and the subjects, contents, and means of teaching effect quantification in this research, analyzed the feedback and guiding function of the teaching effect quantification result of college English courses, discussed the motivation and diagnosis function of the teaching effect quantification result of college English courses, conducted analyses of factors affecting the teaching effect quantification of college English courses, constructed the quantitative dimension of teaching effect of college English courses based on the multivariate matrix evaluation model, and finally designed the quantification system of teaching effect of college English courses based on the multivariate matrix evaluation model. The research results show that the quantitative analysis process of the teaching effect of college English courses has the characteristics of complex structure and many hierarchies, and there are also mutual influences and functions between its subsystems. In order to ensure the rationality and effectiveness of comprehensive quantification, the index system construction of the multivariate matrix evaluation model follows scientific, systematic, and focused principles. The teaching effect quantification process combines four influencing factors of perspective, content, mode, and method with the quantification standard, and constructs a hierarchical quantification structure with target layer, restriction factor layer, and restriction sub-factor layer. The tools it uses usually include observations, interviews, self-evaluation, mutual evaluation, student files, reading notes, project presentations, etc. Teachers adjust teaching goals and plans in time by observing the quantification results of students at all levels, which will help improve students' enthusiasm for learning and give full play to students' autonomy and initiative in English courses. Extraordinary floods are linked with heavy rainstorm systems. Among various systems, their synoptic features can be quite different. The understanding of extreme rainstorms by their causative processes may assist in flood frequency analysis and support the evaluation of any changes in flood occurrence and magnitudes. This paper aims to identify the most dominant meteorological factors for extreme rainstorms, using the ERA5 hourly reanalysis dataset in Henan, central China as a case study. Past 72 h extreme precipitation events are investigated, and six potential factors are considered in this study, including precipitable water (PW), the average temperature (Tavg) of and the temperature difference (Tdiff) between the value at 850 hPa and 500 hPa, relative humidity (RH), convective available potential energy (CAPE), and vertical wind velocity (Wind). The drivers of each event and the dominant factor at a given location are identified using the proposed metrics based on the cumulative distribution function (CDF). In Henan, central China, Wind and PW are dominant factors in summer, while CAPE and Wind are highly related factors in winter. For Zhengzhou city particularly, Wind is the key driver for summer extreme rainstorms, while CAPE plays a key role in winter extreme precipitation events. It indicates that the strong transport of water vapor in summer and atmospheric instability in winter should receive more attention from the managers and planners of water resources. On the contrary, temperature-related factors have the least contribution to the occurrence of extreme events in the study area. As a pillar industry with high energy consumption and low efficiency, the building industry of China has produced consistently high carbon emission levels in recent years. The important goals in the coordinated development of this industry include the large-scale development of green buildings, the use of energy technologies to reduce carbon emissions, and an effective reduction of carbon intensity. Prefabricated buildings have become popular in this industry due to their low energy consumption, emission, and pollution and environment-friendly nature. This paper examines those factors that influence the carbon emissions from the construction of prefabricated buildings across three phases, namely, production in plants, logistics transportation, and assembly construction, builds an evaluation index system for studying the carbon emissions in the materialization phase of prefabricated buildings, and employs the hierarchical fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method to construct an evaluation model. Results show that the overall energy consumption of prefabricated buildings is lower than that of traditional concrete pouring-type buildings. The hierarchical fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is scientific and reasonable when used to measure the comprehensive benefits of carbon emissions from prefabricated buildings. By taking a project in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province as an example, the comprehensive evaluation results show that the carbon emissions of this project are at moderate levels. The carbon emissions from prefabricated buildings can be reduced by expanding the market scale of the building industry, adjusting its use of building materials, and setting up special funds for these buildings. The findings of this work provide a certain reference value for analysing the differences between prefabricated and traditional buildings in terms of their carbon emissions in the materialization phase, for evaluating how the carbon emissions of the former can be reduced, and for formulating and executing building emission reduction plans. Coordinating the "green" and "gray" infrastructure construction and the socioeconomic development is essential to sponge city construction. Most previous research has investigated the structural and non-structural approach for urban water management, such as operational practice, engineered measures, technical solutions, or planning management. However, there is a shortage of strategic management approaches to identify pilot sponge cities, which is essential to cities in developing countries under huge financial pressures. Hence, this paper proposed a coupling coordination evaluation index system to assess the coordination degree between economic development and infrastructure construction in Henan Province in central China. Then, the paper analyzed the differences of the coordination level and its spatial statistical pattern of the coupled and coordinated development of sponge city construction in Henan Province. The results show that: (1) from the perspective of comprehensive level, the problems of inadequate and unbalanced development of infrastructure construction and economic development level are prominent; (2) from the perspective of coordinated development level, the level of coupling and coordination development in Henan Province increased during the sample period, but the level of coupling and coordination development in each region was small; (3) from the perspective of relative development, Zhengzhou City is lagging behind in infrastructure, indicating that economic growth is faster than infrastructure construction, and other regions are lagging economic development, indicating that infrastructure construction is faster than economic growth; and (4) from the spatial statistical analysis, there is spatial positive correlation, that is, the area with high coupling degree of infrastructure construction and economic development level tends to be significantly concentrated in space. Studies have shown that Henan Province should focus on strengthening the construction of "green" infrastructure and increasing the infiltration of the underlying surface to counter the precipitation in urban areas in extreme climates. Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical features of Nocardia infections, antibiotic resistance profile, choice of antibiotics and treatment outcome, among others. In addition, the study compared the clinical and microbiological characteristics of nocardiosis in bronchiectasis patients and non-bronchiectasis patients. Methods: Detailed clinical data were collected from the medical records of 71 non-duplicate nocardiosis patients from 2017 to 2023 at a tertiary hospital in Zhengzhou, China. Nocardia isolates were identified to the species level using MALDI-TOF MS and 16S rRNA PCR sequencing. Clinical data were collected from medical records, and drug susceptibility was determined using the broth microdilution method. Results: Of the 71 cases of nocardiosis, 70 (98.6%) were diagnosed as pulmonary infections with common underlying diseases including bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, diabetes mellitus and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Thirteen different strains were found in 71 isolates, the most common of which were N. farcinica (26.8%) and N. cyriacigeorgica (18.3%). All Nocardia strains were 100% susceptible to both TMP-SMX and linezolid, and different Nocardia species showed different patterns of drug susceptibility in vitro. Pulmonary nocardiosis is prone to comorbidities such as bronchiectasis, diabetes mellitus, COPD, etc., and Nocardia is also frequently accompanied by co-infection of the body with pathogens such as Mycobacterium and Aspergillus spp. Sixty-one patients underwent a detailed treatment regimen, of whom 32 (52.5%) received single or multi-drug therapy based on TMP-SMX. Bronchiectasis was associated with a higher frequency of Nocardia infections, and there were significant differences between the bronchiectasis and non-bronchiectasis groups in terms of age distribution, clinical characteristics, identification of Nocardia species, and antibiotic susceptibility (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Our study contributes to the understanding of the species diversity of Nocardia isolates in Henan, China, and the clinical characteristics of patients with pulmonary nocardiosis infections. The topography significantly influences local climate precipitation and the intensity of precipitation events, yet the specific differences in its elevational effects require further understanding. This study focuses on precipitation in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, utilizing hourly data and a topographic elevation precipitation increment model to assess the impact of topography on local climate precipitation and extreme heavy rainfall events. The results indicate that the daily precipitation attributed to topographic elevation in Zhengzhou in July was 0.21 mm, accounting for 4.9% of the total precipitation. In the extreme heavy rainfall event on 20 July 2021 ("7.20" event), the precipitation due to topographic elevation reaches 48.7 mm, constituting 15.8% of the total precipitation. Additionally, numerical simulations using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model for the 20–21 July 2021 rainfall event in Zhengzhou show that the WRF model effectively reproduces the spatiotemporal characteristics of the precipitation process. The simulated topographic elevation precipitation intensity is 49.8 mm/day, accounting for 16.6% of daily precipitation, closely resembling observational data. Sensitivity experiments further reveal that reducing the heights of the Taihang Mountains and Funiu Mountains weakens the low-level easterly winds around Zhengzhou. Consequently, as the center of the heavy rainfall shifts northward or westward, the intensity of topographic elevation-induced precipitation decreases to 7.3 mm/day and 12.9 mm/day. From 17 to 22 July 2021, the "21·7" extreme rainfall event ("21·7" ERE) hit Henan Province, breaking the record for mainland China with a maximum hourly rainfall of 201.9 mm at the Zhengzhou station. The long-lived (20 h) mesoscale Huang-Huai vortex (HHV) was an important system that directly affected the major rainfall stage, including the extreme hourly rainfall. This study investigates the formation and development mechanism of the HHV, as well as its association with the simulation of extreme hourly rainfall through numerical simulations. The simulated rainfall and radar composite reflectivity were in good agreement with the observations, thus effectively reproducing the generation and developmental process of the HHV. The analysis results showed that the HHV initially formed at 850 hPa on 19 July at 1800 UTC and eventually developed to 550 hPa. The positive feedback formed by the horizontal convergence and vertical vorticity transport was the main mechanism leading to the generation and deepening of the HHV. The stretching effect (STR) term played an absolutely dominant role in the increase in the vorticity tendency, and it primarily originated from the coupling effect of boundary layer jets (BLJs) and synoptic-weather-system-related low-level jets (SLLJs). The accurate simulation of the HHV allowed the early rainfall to reasonably reproduce the surface cold pool near the Zhengzhou station, and then the cooperation of the SLLJs, the BLJs, and the cold pool made the simulated extreme hourly rainfall exactly close to the Zhengzhou station, but with a weaker intensity, due to the fact that the HHV moved northeastward after its formation, resulting in a narrow range of southerly flow in southern Henan, which is not conducive to convective triggering in the southerly flow. Urbanization induces rapid plant environmental modifications, leading to alterations in plant diversity distribution patterns and plant homogenization. However, how plant diversity is distributed along urbanization gradients in regional urban agglomerations and its relationship with environmental factors are not well defined. In three nearby Henan Province Chinese cities—Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, and Zhongmu—along an urbanization gradient, the distribution pattern of plant diversity was quantified. Both native and non-native plants found in urban green spaces were taken into consideration. A total of 176 plant quadrats were selected and separated into three urbanization gradient types using space-constrained hierarchical clustering: urban core, urban suburb, and urban outskirt. Polynomial fitting was used to characterize the spatial distribution patterns of plants along the urbanization gradient, and Pearson correlation and the Mantel test were employed to examine the effects of environmental factors, including longitude, latitude, altitude, distance from the urban center, temperature, and illumination, on plant diversity. A total of 313 vascular plant species, comprising 137 woody species and 176 herbaceous species, were examined. Along the three urbanization gradients, remarkable variations in plant diversity for woody and herbaceous species were observed. The spatial patterns of plant diversity were consistent across cities, whereas woody plants and herbaceous plants displayed the opposite behavior. Distance to the city center and temperature were the most substantial environmental effect factors for the diversity of woody plants, whereas light factors had a major impact on herbaceous plants. These findings show different life-type plants are affected differently by urbanization, and they offer managers and planners a recommendation for increasing urban plant diversity by executing various interventions throughout the urban gradient. Severe water erosion occurs during extreme storm events. Such an exceedingly severe storm occurred in Zhengzhou in central China on 20 July 2021 (the 7.20 storm). The magnitude and frequency of occurrence of this storm event were examined in terms of how erosive it was. To contextualize this extreme event, hourly rainfall data from 2420 automatic meteorological stations in China from 1951 to 2021 were analyzed to (1) characterize the spatial and temporal distribution of the rainfall amount and rainfall erosivity of the 7.20 storm, (2) evaluate the average recurrence interval of the maximum daily and event rainfall erosivity, and (3) establish the geographical distribution of the maximum daily and event rainfall erosivity in China. The center of the 7.20 storm moved from southeast to northwest in Henan Province, and the most intense period of rainfall occurred in the middle and late stages of the storm. Zhengzhou Meteorological Station happened to be aligned with the center of the storm, with a maximum daily rainfall of 552.5 mm and a maximum hourly rainfall intensity of 201.9 mm h -1. The average recurrence intervals of the maximum daily rainfall erosivity (43354±1863 MJ mm ha -1 h -1) and the maximum event rainfall erosivity (58874±2351 MJ mm ha -1 h -1) were estimated to be about 19 200 and 53 700 years, respectively, assuming the log-Pearson type-III distribution, and these were the maximum rainfall erosivities ever recorded among 2420 meteorological stations in mainland China up to 2022. The 7.20 storm suggests that the most erosive of storms does not necessarily occur in the wettest places in southern China, and these can occur in mid-latitude around 35 ∘ N with a moderate mean annual rainfall of 566.7 mm in Zhengzhou. By using the observation data of four DSG5-type disdrometers, four automatic weather stations and two dual-polarization Doppler weather radars, this paper analyzes the characteristics of raindrop size distributions (DSDs) and their integral parameters during the severe precipitation in Henan Province, China, specially focusing on the extremely severe rainstorm on the 20 July 2021 in Zhengzhou City. The results show that: (1) In line with most of the severe precipitation in northern China, the July 2021 extreme precipitation were dominated by small raindrops, but medium-sized raindrops with diameter D in 2–4 mm contributed 61.28% to the rain rate R during the time period of extremely severe rainfall at Zhengzhou (ZZ) station, and the raindrops with D > 4 mm contributed 53.74% to the radar reflectivity factor Z. (2) Quantitative evaluation of the gamma model of DSD for different values of R is carried out, and the fitting effect of the gamma model is better for the raindrop spectrum with a single peak structure. However, this method cannot reflect the double-peak structure when R is large. (3) Some differences have been found in the Z - R relationship between Z and R among the four stations (GY, XM, XY, and ZZ). The maximum value of fitting coefficient a appears at the ZZ station, which is close to the a values in the Meiyu season in eastern China. For the other three stations, the a values are comparable to those of typhoons in the western Pacific, but the fitting coefficient b values are less different. (4) The average vertical profiles of dual-polarization radar parameters reveal the microphysical characteristics of the extremely severe rainstorm, that is, there were active ice-phase and warm-rain microphysical processes in the convective system of the extremely severe rainfall, of which the warm-rain process was more dominant. • The DSDs and microphysical characteristics at four weather stations of Zhengzhou City during the 20 July 2021 extremely heavy rainfall period were discussed. • There were three stations with diameter-controlled raindrop size distribution characteristic, only one station was controlled by both number concentration and diameter, the scatter pairs of parameters lg N w - D m of DSDs recorded of ZZ station indicate maritime-like convection. • Quantitative evaluation of the gamma model of DSDs for different rain rate was conducted. The fitting effect of the gamma model is better for the DSD with a single peak structure, while the method cannot reflect the double-peak structure when rain rate is large during the heavy rainfall period. • During the extreme rainfall period, there are active ice-phase and warm-rain microphysical processes in the convection system, and the warm-rain process is dominant. Both the natural and social water cycles form part of the regional water cycle, and the assessment of the health of the social water cycle provides useful recommendations for resource allocation, urban planning, and development. The Zheng-Bian-Luo region (Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang city cluster in China) is used as an example in this study. The three-level "goal criterion index" is used to develop a water cycle index system based on deeper knowledge of the notion of the social water cycle. The system has four criterion layers that measure water quantity, utility, quality, and ecology, in addition to 22 index levels regarding the total water resources and drinking water compliance rate. By using this as a foundation, the minimum information entropy principle was applied to couple AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and EFAST (Extended Fourier Amplitude Sensitivity Analysis) in order to calculate the comprehensive weights of the evaluation indicators and build a VIKOR (Intuitionistic Fuzzy Multi-attribute Decision Making Method) model of the relative preference relationship of the fused weights. This model was then compared to the conventional VIKOR model and the FCE (Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method) method in order to reflect on the objectivity of the evaluation results. The primary barriers preventing the improvement of water cycle health in the Zheng-Bian-Luo region were determined in this study by using the barrier degree model. The findings demonstrate that over the past 11 years, the overall water cycle health in the Zheng-Bian-Luo region has developed toward a healthy trend and that the water cycle health level in the region has gradually improved from the initial sub-pathological state to a healthy state. The results also demonstrate compliance with domestic drinking water sources, comprehensive water consumption per capita, the water consumption of CNY 10,000 of industrial-added value, the water consumption of CNY 10,000 of GDP, and the water consumption of CNY 10,000 for water. The primary barrier to the Zheng-Bian-Luo region's improvement in water health is the water consumption ratio. An experiment was conducted to create a science-based program of irrigation and fertilizer application for two-year winter wheat under wide ridge and furrow irrigation in the Yellow River irrigation area. The study was performed in a test field located in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China. A numerical model of soil water and nitrogen transport for winter wheat under wide ridge and furrow irrigation was created using HYDRUS-2D. The behavior of soil water and nitrogen was predicted for different irrigation water and nitrogen treatments and analyzed to identify pathways of nitrogen transport and transformation. The nitrogen balance was calculated for the different water and nitrogen treatments. The coefficients of determination for measured and predicted values of soil water content, nitrate nitrogen, and ammonium nitrogen in both horizontal and vertical directions were all >0.68; the mean absolute error was <0.06; and the root mean square error was <0.1. These values indicate the feasibility of using a numerical model of nitrogen transport for wide ridge and furrow irrigation. The correlation coefficient R2 between simulated values of nitrogen uptake and measured values of total crop nitrogen content was 0.88, the RMSE value was 10.58 kg/ha, and the MAE value was 5.9 kg/ha. Nitrogen loss was primarily caused by denitrification, and the quantity of gaseous nitrogen loss was 7.05–38.2% of the nitrogen form. The total quantity of ammonium nitrogen absorbed by winter wheat plant roots in each treatment was 7.6–15.1% of the total amount of nitrate nitrogen absorbed. The maximum nitrogen uptake was 155.53 kg/ha with a yield of 6888.67 kg/ha at a nitrogen application rate of 220 kg/ha and irrigating to 70% field capacity. The UE of the 220 kg/ha and irrigating to 70% field capacity treatment was relatively high, the PFP of the 120 kg/ha and irrigating to 80% field capacity treatment was relatively high, and the nitrogen use efficiency of the 320 kg/ha and irrigating to 60% field capacity treatment was the lowest overall. This study provides a basis for investigating soil water and nitrogen transport mechanisms of winter wheat under wide ridge and furrow irrigation in the Yellow River irrigation area. The collection of traditional administrative unit-based gross domestic product (GDP) data is time-consuming and laborious, and the data lacks accurate spatial information. Long-term series nighttime light (NTL) data can provide effective spatiotemporal GDP change information, which can be used to analyze economies' spatial distributions and development trends. In this study, we generated a spatial model of the relationship between NTL indices and GDP parameters, based on NPP-VIIRS-like NTL data for the period 2001 to 2020, conducted a multitemporal and multilevel connectivity analysis of the GDP spatialization data, and constructed a tree structure for horizontal and vertical analysis. Standard deviation ellipses and economic centers of the first-level economic connected components at the provincial and municipal levels were generated, and the economic center distribution range and development direction at the provincial and municipal levels were analyzed. The results show that GDP spatialization data, based on NPP-VIIRS-like NTL data, can intuitively reflect the GDP spatial distribution. In Henan Province, the economic levels of different regions vary, and the economic regions represented by Zhengzhou have developed rapidly, driving surrounding regional economic rapid development. Predicting the harvest time of wheat in large areas is important for guiding the scheduling of wheat combine harvesters and reducing losses during harvest. In this study, Zhumadian, Zhengzhou and Anyang, the main winter-wheat-producing areas in Henan province, were selected as the observation points, and the main producing areas were from south to north. Based on Landsat 8 satellite remote sensing images, the changes in NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), EVI (Enhanced Vegetation Index), and NDWI (Normalized Difference Water Index) were analyzed at different growth stages of winter wheat in 2020. Multiple regression analysis and Back Propagation (BP) neural network machine learning methods were used to establish prediction models for the harvest time of winter wheat at different growth stages. The results showed that the prediction model based on a BP neural network had high accuracy. The RMSE, MAE and MAPE of the training set and the test set were 0.531 and 0.5947, 0.3001 and 0.3104, 0.0114% and 0.0119%, respectively. The prediction model of winter wheat harvest date based on BP neural network was verified in the main winter wheat producing areas of Henan province in 2020 and 2021. The average errors were 1.67 days and 2.13 days, which were less than 3 days, meeting the needs for winter wheat production and harvest. The grain water content of winter wheat at harvest time calculated by the prediction model reached the grain water standard of the wheat combine harvester. The underutilisation or overutilisation of various interdependent and interacting factors poses a challenge to sustainable development and requires the development of an appropriate methodology to evaluate the sustainability of tourism development projects in rural Land (TDPRL). However, most previous evaluations of TDPRL sustainability are macro-oriented and ignore the entire project life cycle. This study focuses on the resilience characteristics of TDPRL and proposes a "sustainable resilience model" based on physical-mechanical theory, which analyses various factors influencing TDPRL resilience based on the three dimensions of tractive force, driving force, and internal dynamic, and constructs a qualitative evaluation index system through stakeholder meetings. Then the analytic network process (ANP) is used to assess the resilience of TDPRL quantitatively. The rationality of the evaluation index system is validated through an empirical analysis of three rural tourism projects in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. We found that the resilience of TDPRL depends first on the project fundamentals, which include population, industry, location, and infrastructure. Second, local elites are crucial to rural tourism revitalization. Third, the project team should have sufficient capacity to provide tourists with satisfactory products and services, ensuring the project's sustainable operation, and meeting the core demands of stakeholders. Rainfall usually leads to soil slope sliding and instability, which affects the safety of foundation pit, especially in the case of heavy rainfall. This study took the 7.20 Henan rainstorm as the background, where in the process of construction, after three days of rainstorm of 617.7 mm deep, the horizontal displacement of supporting structures of a foundation pit in Zhengzhou city increased by 6.3 mm. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the mechanism of deformation induced by rainstorm of foundation pits. Five numerical models considering different rainfall factors were developed to simulate the rainstorm process based on the monitoring data. The deformation mechanism and the effect factors of deformation on the foundation pit during rainstorm were analyzed, and some preventive measures were put forward for when the foundation pit engineering faces a heavy rainstorm. Under the action of the rainstorm, the supporting structure and the surface settlement had a signification deformation caused by the heavy rainfall on this typical foundation pit, and the maximum bending moment and maximum displacement of the supporting structure shifted up to different degrees. The main factors affecting the deep foundation pit of the metro by heavy rain are the steel strut falling off and the whole foundation pit filling with water, while the influence caused by the rise in the groundwater level, water standing load, and soil softening is small. A record-breaking extreme rainstorm occurred in Henan Province of China on 20 July 2021. To investigate the impacts of the Geostationary Interferometric Infrared Sounder (GIIRS) data assimilation on model analysis and forecasts of this rainfall event, the high temporal resolution GIIRS water vapor (WV) channel data were assimilated in the high-resolution CMA-MESO (Mesoscale Weather Numerical Forecast System of China Meteorological Administration) in this study. The results showed that the GIIRS WV radiance assimilation could improve the model WV analysis, which in turn adjusted the distributions of hydrometeors (radar composite reflectivities) and wind field, and finally improved the precipitation forecast. Additionally, although barely any GIIRS observations were assimilated over the cloudy area, the precipitation forecast errors of "21·7" extreme rainstorm events could be reduced by improving the structure of atmospheric circulations through the assimilation of neighboring data around Henan, especially over the upstream region. With the GIIRS WV data assimilation, the location error of maximum 24-h accumulated precipitation forecasts decreased from 128.48 km to 28.97 km (improved by 77.45%) for the cold start at 0000 UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) on 19 July 2021, and it was also reduced by about 60.52% for the warm start experiment at 0600 UTC on 19 July 2021. In addition, the GIIRS assimilation experiment showed an extraordinarily heavy rainfall area (above 250 mm/24 h) around Zhengzhou station, which did not appear in the control experiment, and was closer to the observed extreme precipitation. A new species of freshwater alga, Chara zhengzhouensis, is described and illustrated based on material collected in a lake at Zhengzhou, in Henan Province, China. Phylogenetic analysis of sequence data from the 18s rDNA, rbcL, and atpB indicated the separation between C. zhengzhouensis and other species of the genus Chara. Additionally, from a morphological point of view, C. zhengzhouensis differs from another closely related species, C. connivens, in its diplostichous cortex and corticate or ecorticate in based segments of branchlets. Therefore, the results based on both morphological observation and molecular evidence facilitated the proposal of this new species—C. zhengzhouensis. It represents another species in the charophyte diversity in China and the description of this new species provides more molecular data for phylogenetic analysis of the genus Chara. Due to the influence of typhoon "fireworks" on July 20, 2021, there was a rare heavy rainfall in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China, which caused severe urban waterlogged disasters and casualties. Take it as an example, using Web Crawler technology to obtain Weibo's (Chinese Twitter) time and space data involved in the rare heavy rainfall in Zhengzhou. Through statistical analysis and spatiotemporal analysis to filter, classify, analyse and manipulate the crawled Weibo's data, and then study the influence of the extreme rainstorm weather on the traffic areas from two aspects of address points and road networks. At the same time, to verify the effectiveness of the social media-based method for mining the traffic impact areas of the Zhengzhou extreme rainstorm, this experiment compares Weibo data with official data in various aspects according to four categories of waterlogging severity. The "7.20" rainstorm and flood disaster in 2021 occurred in Zhengzhou and adjacent areas of Henan province. According to the Maximum Rainfall Data of Different Periods and the "7.20" rainstorm data of the section from Xiaolangdi to Huayuankou of the Yellow River in 2021, i.e., thirteen kinds of automatic monitoring rainfall data in minutes and six kinds of manual monitoring rainfall data in hours, the rainfall frequency curves of two representative periods of ten reference stations are established using Pearson-III distribution. The return periods of "7.20" rainstorms with maximum 24 h greater than 300 mm and maximum 6 h greater than 100 mm are calculated. The results show that the influence of "7.20" rainstorms on the rainfall return period is obvious. For the ten reference stations, all the maximum 24 h rainfall of "7.20" rainstorms ranked in the first of the series. When establishing the frequency curve, if this value is considered, the largest return period occurs at Sishui station, with a return period of 486 years. Otherwise, the return period of Sishui, Mangling, Minggao, and Xicun stations will exceed 10,000 years. Among ten reference stations, the largest proportion of the maximum 6 h rainfall between "7.20" rainstorms and historical series is Minggao station. Taking Minggao station as an example, the return period is about 200 years when considering the "7.20" value to establish the frequency curve, otherwise it is about 3000 years. Coal combustion for winter heating is a major source of heavy atmospheric pollution in China, while its impacts on black carbon (BC) are not yet clear. A dual-spot Aethalometer was selected to monitor the atmospheric BC concentration in Zhengzhou, China, during the heating season, which is from 15 November through 15 March of the following year, and the non-heating season (days other than heating season). The characteristics and sources of BC were analyzed, and a concentration weight trajectory (CWT) analysis was conducted. The results showed that the BC concentrations in the heating season were generally higher than those in the non-heating season. The diurnal variation in BC concentrations during heating season was bimodal, and that during the non-heating season was unimodal. The α-values in the heating and non-heating seasons indicated that combustion of coal and biomass and vehicle emissions were the major BC sources for the heating season and non-heating season, respectively. BC concentrations were positively correlated with PM2.5, PM10, CO, and NOX. There was a strong negative correlation between wind speed and BC concentrations, and that for relative humidity was the opposite. BC concentration during heating season was mainly influenced by the northwestern areas of China and the eastern part of Henan, and that in the non-heating season was mainly from the northeastern areas of China and southern Henan. Simple Summary: In an era of shrinking stocks and intensive fisheries production, pathogenic microorganisms are a serious threat to fish health. This study confirms that Vibrio metschnikovii—a pathogen mainly found in aquatic environments—was the pathogenic bacterium causing disease in hybrid sturgeon. The authors reveal the hazard of V. metschnikovii to hybrid sturgeon and the potential risks to the sturgeon farming industry. In July 2021, a disease with a high mortality rate broke out in freshwater cultured hybrid sturgeon in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. A dominant strain, H-701, was isolated from diseased fish; physiological changes in diseased fish were investigated and molecular identification, biochemical characterization, and pathogenicity and drug sensitivity tests of H-701 were performed. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of H-701 was 99.86% homologous with that of Vibrio metschnikovii in GenBank. The 50% lethal dose of H-701 was 3.72 ± 0.929 × 104 CFU/g fish weight. The proportion of monocytes, neutrophils, and eosinophils in the blood of diseased sturgeon increased significantly, whereas the proportion of lymphocytes decreased. In diseased fish, the serum levels of total protein, albumin, globulin, and alkaline phosphatase decreased significantly, and those of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and complement C3 increased significantly. There were obvious pathological changes in several tissues of the diseased fish. H-701 was sensitive to antibiotics such as florfenicol, enrofloxacin, and doxycycline. This study not only demonstrated that V. metschnikovii was the cause of death of a large number of hybrid sturgeon but also revealed its potential risk in hybrid sturgeon aquaculture. In recent years, the study of numerical weather prediction (NWP) in complex orographic areas has attracted a great deal of attention. Complex orography plays an important role in the occurrence and development of extreme rainfall events. In this study, the Yin–He Global Spectrum Model (YHGSM) was used, and the wave number truncation method was employed to decompose the orographic data to different resolutions. The obtained orographic data with different resolutions were used to simulate the extreme rainfall in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China, to discuss the degree of influence and mechanism of the different orographic resolutions on the extreme rainfall. The results show that the simulation results of the YHGSM with high-resolution orography are better than those of the low-resolution orography in terms of the rainfall intensity and range. When the rainfall intensity is higher, the results of the low-resolution orography simulated the rainfall range of big heavy rainfall better. The orography mainly affected the rainfall by affecting the velocity of the updraft, but it had a limited influence on the maximum height that the updraft could reach. A strong updraft is one of the key factors leading to extreme rainfall in Henan Province. When the orographic resolution changes, the sensitivity of the vertical velocity of the updraft to the orographic resolution is the greatest, the sensitivity of the upper-air divergence and low-level vorticity to the orographic resolution is lower than that of the vertical velocity. In conclusion, the high-resolution orography is helpful in improving the model's prediction of extreme rainfall, and when predicting extreme rainfall in complex orographic areas, forecasters may need to artificially increase rainfall based on model results. To reasonably evaluate and predict the loss of rainstorm and flood disaster, this study is based on the rainfall data and rainstorm and flood disaster data of 18 cities in Henan Province from 2010 to 2020, using GIS technology and weighted comprehensive evaluation method to analyze the risk of rainstorm and flood disaster factors in various regions. The four risk factors of hazard risk, hazard-pregnant environment sensitivity, hazard-bearing body vulnerability, and disaster resilience were analyzed in compartment analysis. At the same time, a new rainstorm and flood disaster prediction model was constructed in combination with the hybrid PSO-SVR algorithm. The research results show that there are many rivers in Henan Province, the terrain tends to be higher in the west and lower in the east, and most areas are low plains, making most cities in Henan Province at a moderate risk level. For the more developed cities such as Zhengzhou, Luoyang, and Nanyang, the hazard risk, sensitivity, vulnerability, and disaster resistance are high, and they are prone to heavy rains and floods. For the economically underdeveloped, the terrain is high or hills, such as Sanmenxia City; Xinyang City and other places have low hazard risk and are not prone to rainstorms and floods. By constructing a hybrid PSO-SVR model, selecting two representative cities of Zhengzhou and Luoyang, and predicting the daily rainfall, the number of disasters, and the direct economic loss, the calculated RMSE and MAPE values are both less than GA-SVR, the traditional SVR, and BPNN models, which have verified the superiority of the model proposed in this study and the practical value it brings. To further verify the prediction accuracy of the hybrid model, the average value of RMSE and MAPE of other 16 cities are calculated, and the result is still smaller than other three models, and the study can provide some decision-making references for the urban rainstorm and flood management. Background: Necator americanus is one of the major etiological agents of human ancylostomiasis. Historically, the epidemiology of ancylostomiasis in Henan Province of central China and the molecular characteristics of N. americanus have been poorly understood. Methods: In this study, we report a case of ancylostomiasis in Zhengzhou city of Henan Province. We also review the epidemiology of ancylostomiasis in Henan Province from 1949 to 2020. In addition, the complete mitochondrial (mt) genome of one clinical isolate is fully characterized using Illumina sequencing. All available mt genomes of hookworms in GenBank were included to reconstruct the phylogeny using both maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) methods. Results: A total of three worms were collected from the patient. These worms were identified as N. americanus based on morphological characteristics as well as confirmed by genotyping with the barcoding gene cox1. Although ancylostomiasis cases have dropped substantially in recent years, hookworm infection is still a public health problem in underdeveloped areas and remote rural areas in Henan Province. The mt genome features of the N. americanus contained 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and a major non-coding region. The nad1 gene showed high sequence variability among isolates, which is worth considering for future genetic studies of N. americanus. Phylogenetic analyses support the monophyly of hookworm isolates from different hosts and distinct geographical locations. Conclusions: The mt genome of N. americanus presented here will serve as a useful data set for studying population genetics and phylogenetic relationships of hookworms. The technological research and development level for prefabricated buildings and system policies in China are still in the initial stage, and the environmental performance and influencing factors of prefabricated buildings limit their large-scale implementation. The literature in developed countries regarding the environmental performance and influencing factors of prefabricated buildings was first reviewed in this study. Community A in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province was used as the case study. AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) was applied to measure the factors influencing the environmental performance of prefabricated buildings, and policy suggestions were proposed to improve their environmental performance. Results indicate that developed countries tend to construct prefabricated buildings in large areas because of their remarkable economic, environmental, social, and safety benefits. Measurement results of Community A in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province show that the main environmental pollution factor of prefabricated buildings is waste discharge, accounting for 40%, followed by noise pollution, energy consumption, and dust pollution. The environmental performance of prefabricated buildings can be improved by promoting their development, reducing their environmental pollution, establishing a standard prefabricated concrete system, enhancing the environmental standards for buildings, expanding the application scope of prefabricated concrete, encouraging environmental technology innovation of buildings, cultivating prefabricated building bases, and strengthening environmental governance of construction sites. The findings will serve as reference in determining the main factors influencing the environmental performance of prefabricated buildings, establishing an evaluation system for the environmental benefits of prefabricated buildings, promoting their improvement and optimized development, and enriching and perfecting an evaluation research system for their comprehensive benefits. Toxic and harmful gases, noise, industrial dust, loads, and job posture in architectural engineering construction are the different factors that influence health loss of construction workers. Among them, construction dust is a primary occupational health threat among construction workers. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the dust pollution hazard in the architectural construction process and quantitatively estimate the health loss of construction workers. It uses a case study based on an earthwork stage in a construction site at Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, China. Environmental health risks were evaluated by using the exposure parameter method, while estimating the health losses of different objects caused by earthwork in this construction site. Results demonstrated that dust in the earthwork site was caused by the cement process and moving vehicles. Cementers and road cleaners suffered the most threats from dust with dust exposure dosages of 0.48 and 0.21 mg/kg·d, respectively. The health losses of cementers and road cleaners reached CNY 19,342.74 and CNY 14,532.36, respectively. A reduction on health costs caused by dust pollution in architectural engineering construction is possible through the following proposed measures: strengthening the monitoring of the construction workers' level of exposure to dust pollution, establishing a health management system for construction workers, focusing on the effect of environmental supervision mechanism, and standardizing the emission standards of construction dust pollution. Results could provide some references in understanding the current status and distribution law of dust pollution in construction sites, promoting the implementation of health management and protection system for construction workers, enhancing the working environment of construction workers, and quantitatively estimating the total health influences of architectural engineering. Industrial development and urbanization progress have been rapidly increasing in China, consequently accelerating infrastructure constructions, such as real estates and public facilities. Building construction dust has become one of the main sources of atmospheric particulate matter (PM) pollution in China. In this study, a typical building in Zhengzhou City was taken as an example, wherein the total suspended particle (TSP) and PM10 and PM2.5 indicators in the foundation excavation phase of the building construction were comprehensively monitored. The emission levels of both indicators were analyzed, and the periodic change laws of dust concentration and the correlations among TSP, PM10, and PM2.5 were quantitatively measured. Results indicate that the PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations at the monitoring points in the downwind direction of prevailing wind were higher than those in the upwind direction. TSP, PM10, and PM2.5 concentrations reached the maximum values at 10:00-12:00 in the morning of most days, and the TSP concentration was maintained at 250-500 µg/m³. Moreover, the coefficient of determination between TSP and PM10/PM2.5 was 0.8164/0.8376, signifying favorable correlations. The proposed management and control measures include perfecting the construction dust pollution control and management system, establishing the responsibility management mechanism of construction dust, realizing the comprehensive refined control of construction dust, promoting the innovation of building construction dust control technology, and improving the environmental consciousness for building construction dust control. These findings can serve as references for construction dust source pollutant emission control and as scientific decision-making bases for environmental researchers and managers in this field.
