A conference paper about cartography in Croatia between 2007 and 2011, submitted to the 15th General Assembly of the International Cartographic Association (ICA) in Paris, France is presented. The paper discusses cartography as practiced by government agencies, universities and colleges and commercial establishments in the country. The activities of the Croatian Cartographic Society, Association of Geodesists of the Istria County and the Croatian Geographic Society are mentioned.
The article discusses the highlights of the formal ceremony on the occasion of the completed production of the topographic map at the scale of 1:25,000 (TM25) held by the Croatian Cartographic Society in Zagreb on December 8, 2010. The ceremony was attended by 200 participants and guests from the political and scientific circles. The event featured a speech by State Geodetic Administration (SGA) director-general Željko Bačić, paper presentation and award ceremony.
The article discusses the highlights of the Waste Treatment Technologies conference organized by the Croatian Academy of Engineering, Centre for Environment Protection and Development of Sustainable Technologies, and was held in Varaždin, Croatia from June 12 to June 14, 2006. The event held several lectures, paper presentations and poster reports about technical solutions for waste processing. A paper by Miljenko Lapaine dealt with geodesy and cartography.
The article discusses the highlights of the 4th International Conference Crisis Management Days held in Velika Gorica, Croatia on May 25-26, 2011. Vlatko Cvrtilla, president of the Organizing and Program Committee of the conference, discussed the challenges of crisis management. One paper presented during the conference is about the role of cartography for early warning and crisis management.
