In the era of the urban economy and service economy, the decoupling of service industry land expansion from economic growth has always been a key measure to evaluate sustainable and healthy development. Based on the decoupling model and GIS spatial analysis method, this paper conducted an empirical study of Chinese cities from 2012 to 2019. Results: (1) Increasing spatial heterogeneity, correlation and agglomeration of land expansion were found in China's urban service industry and its economic growth; (2) Most cities were in weak decoupling, with evolved, degraded and unchanged cities accounting for one-third each, and the number of cities in negative decoupling was increasing, leading to increasingly diverse and complex decoupling relationships; (3) From the perspective of changes in the urban service industry land and its decoupling from economic growth, HH cities were clustered in the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei and Chengdu–Chongqing urban agglomerations in a continuous belt pattern, while LL and HL cities were mostly in the north, especially in the northeast, creating many cluster-like agglomerations that have become problematic spaces; (4) A significant synergistic effect was identified between the factors of urban permanent population, value added of the secondary industry, per capita GDP, government financial expenditure, international trade, foreign direct investment, total retail of commodities, and authorized patents, with factor pairs formed showing nonlinear enhancement. The factor value added of the secondary industry had the largest direct impact, while urban permanent population and foreign direct investment led in terms of net synergies; (5) It is recommended to introduce classified and differentiated urban service industry land use policies, plan and build a number of national, provincial and municipal modern service industry clusters, demonstrate changes in land supply and use, build a scientific and efficient land resource allocation and management system, guard against and prevent recoupling and effectively improve the ability of cities to achieve high-quality economic development. "Gutter oil" is a term for the practice of recycling used waste oil from restaurant fryers, sinks, and even slaughterhouses and sewers, and has been a major food safety and sanitation issue in China for many years. However, with proper treatment, these issues can be mitigated, turning large amounts of waste product into valuable resources and conserving energy resources. Based on this questionnaire survey conducted in the cities of Chengdu and Mianyang in Sichuan, China, this paper uses the value evaluation method to measure urban residents' willingness to pay for the treatment of gutter oil, and explores the factors and path influencing residents' willingness to pay based on the extended theory of planned behavior. The results of this study affirms the validity and universality of the Theory of Planned Behavior. Behavioral attitude, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norms have a direct positive impact on their willingness to pay. Risk perception and past experience indirectly affect residents' willingness to pay for gutter oil through the intermediary variable of behavioral attitude, which means that the public's risk awareness can be improved by vigorously publicizing the harmful effects of gutter oil, thereby also increasing acceptance toward gutter oil treatment. As an intermediary variable, subjective norms have a significant indirect effect on the impact path of past experience on willingness to pay, which reflects the significant influence of subjective norms such as reference group and environment. The results show that urban residents have a higher willingness to pay for the treatment of gutter oil. The mean willingness to pay is 7.75 RMB per month per capita. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As low and lower-middle social groups account for a great proportion of the total population in China and their status in society is special, it is of great social and practical significance to study their housing conditions and characteristics. Based on research at home and abroad, this paper defines the basic characteristics of low and lower-middle social groups in China, and elaborates the definition and connotation of housing marginalization, thereby proposing that these residents in the Chinese city are facing a problem of housing marginalization. According to data from the fifth and sixth population census and statistical yearbooks of Chengdu, it reveals changes in housing location, housing tenure structure, and housing quality of the study group between 2000 to 2010 by means of spatial and statistical analysis, which indicates that the low and lower-middle social groups are facing the three trends of "living in outskirts," "predicament in tenure selectivity of housing," and "impoverishment of housing quality." In response to these trends, three planning suggestions are proposed: 1 to establish "housing policy areas" suitable for the group of residents to reside and work; 2 to innovate policy measures to support the low and lower-middle social groups to rent and purchase houses within these areas; 3 to guide the residents to integrate into the community life circle in these areas so as to avoid poverty concentration. Based on the cross-sectional data of 2000 and 2015, this paper quantitatively analyzes several indicators of the Chengdu-Chongqing Urban Agglomeration, including the permanent population, urban population, GDP, and total industrial output value, to explore the overall situation of the spatial development of urban agglomeration at this stage. The study finds that the permanent population and GDP maintain the trend of concentrating to higher-level cities, and the central cities of Chengdu and Chongqing have an obvious status of polarization. The main city of Chongqing is relatively dependent on industry, while the main city of Chengdu is driven by service economy and has a stronger capacity of urban population concentration. Different from the traditional understanding, Chongqing's regional central cities have realized rapid industry-driven growth, and their development is faster than that of Sichuan's prefecture-level cities. Despite of a large outflow of population, county-level units have achieved high growth rate of urban population, and the in-situ urbanization is obvious. The spatial pattern shows an "eastward inclination," in which the development of western Chongqing is the most outstanding, while that of Chengdu Plain and southern Sichuan region with a better basis has slowed down, and the originally backward areas, such as northeastern Chongqing, southeastern Chongqing, and eastern Sichuan, have a prominent development. In this paper, based on electrical power consumption (EPC) data extracted from DMSP/OLS night light data, we select three national-level urban agglomerations in China's Yangtze River Economic Belt(YREB), includes Yangtze River Delta urban agglomerations(YRDUA), urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River(UAMRYR), and Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration(CCUA) as the research objects. In addition, the coefficient of variation (CV), kernel density analysis, cold hot spot analysis, trend analysis, standard deviation ellipse and Moran's I Index were used to analyze the Spatio-temporal Dynamic Evolution Characteristics of EPC in the three urban agglomerations of the YREB. In addition, we also use geographically weighted regression (GWR) model and random forest algorithm to analyze the influencing factors of EPC in the three major urban agglomerations in YREB. The results of this study show that from 1992 to 2013, the CV of the EPC in the three urban agglomerations of YREB has been declining at the overall level. At the same time, the highest EPC value is in YRDUA, followed by UAMRYR and CCUA. In addition, with the increase of time, the high-value areas of EPC hot spots are basically distributed in YRDUA. The standard deviation ellipses of the EPC of the three urban agglomerations of YREB clearly show the characteristics of "east-west" spatial distribution. With the increase of time, the correlations and the agglomeration of the EPC in the three urban agglomerations of the YREB were both become more and more obvious. In terms of influencing factor analysis, by using GWR model, we found that the five influencing factors we selected basically have a positive impact on the EPC of the YREB. By using the Random forest algorithm, we found that the three main influencing factors of EPC in the three major urban agglomerations in the YREB are the proportion of secondary industry in GDP, Per capita disposable income of urban residents, and Urbanization rate. The urban heat island phenomenon in large cities is becoming increasingly serious as urbanization continues to develop, seriously affecting the lives of urban residents. Rivers can effectively alleviate urban heat islands and improve the thermal comfort of riverfront space in summer. Thus, the effect of rivers on the urban microclimate environment is studied in this work. A section of the Fu River in the inland city of Chengdu was selected as the research object, and a combination of experimental and numerical simulation methods was employed. ENVI-met software was used to study the river's influence on the air temperature, relative air humidity, and the thermal comfort of the riverfront space. The measured experimental parameters are first used to verify the accuracy of the ENVI-met software simulation results, which are then employed to carry out simulation research. The simulation results suggest that the different types of underlying surfaces have varying impacts on the air temperature and relative air humidity. Rivers have a significant cooling effect on the regional thermal environment, and roads have a warming effect on the air temperature. The order of influence of different underlying surfaces on air temperature is as follows: rivers > roads > trees. Rivers have an obvious humidifying effect on the air, and roads have little effect on relative air humidity. The order of influence of different underlying surfaces on relative air humidity is as follows: rivers > trees > roads. Tourism is a common social behaviour, and is classified differently according to its purpose or destination. Plant-viewing tourism (PVT) and its impact on destinations has been studied; however, research on flower-viewing tourism (FVT) is still deficient. This study investigates the impact of FVT on the perceptions and attitudes of residents in Chengdu city. A questionnaire survey was conducted involving 305 residents. A total of 17 items representing three main dimensions (environmental, economic, and socio-cultural) of explanatory factors were considered after exploratory factor analysis. Structural equation modelling was used to examine the relationship between these dimensions and the attitudes of residents. Results show that residents' positive attitudes towards FVT were associated with the positive response of economic and environmental impacts, but no significant correlation was found between socio-cultural impacts and attitudes. Results are discussed and analyzed in-depth, and three conclusions and policy recommendations of this study are proposed. These results can provide suggestions for future development in cities, formulation of tourism policies, and promotion of sustainable tourism development in the region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
