A powerhouse under development, India is slowly breaking free from its traditional methods of operations. It has been chosen for analysis as it offers a plethora of diverse cultures and a variety of indigenous groups of people. The energy sector of the country is transitioning to adopt policies that are in line with its sustainable goals. Focusing on peer-to-peer energy trading and the development of blockchain technologies, unconventional methods are slowly being incorporated with the help of various experimental projects. This is backed up by peer-to-peer trading of energy providing a prosumer with an autonomous environment. The paper looks into the ongoing trends in this sector and major reforms that are required to bring about the necessary shift. Challenges and their recommendations are also been discussed along with the need to implement them. Suitable conclusions have been drawn that aim towards favoring the P2P style of open-source electricity trading as the need for such an analysis is vital to achieve a decentralized energy system. While the association between income inequality and environmental degradation has been researched extensively by various scholars, the impact of income inequality on the consumption of renewable energy, however, remains unanswered in the existing literature, the reason why the investigation of the same has been attempted through this study. Apart from income inequality, this paper also explores the impact of per capita income, consumption of nonrenewable energy and human capital development on the consumption of renewable energy, using a Nonlinear Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) model on the data pertaining to India for the period 1980–2016. This study concludes that while the increased income inequality results into reduction in the renewable energy consumption, the increased per capita income and human capital development, on the contrary, lead to an increase in the renewable energy consumption. Similarly, the impact of decrease in per capita income on renewable energy consumption was found to be negative and significant. Lastly, the nonrenewable energy consumption, showing the characteristics of a substitute, was found to have an inverse & significant relationship with renewable energy consumption in both upward as well as downward direction. The main aim of this paper is to diagnose the impact of climate change with the analysis of its scenario, causes and its solutions in relation to energy sector. Initially, this paper discusses the scenario of climate change in India. Afterward, a comparative difference analysis of selected climatic variables is performed on the chosen areas and also determines the relationships among these variables. Both these objectives are performed by ANOVA, post-hoc, correlation and linear regression analysis. Subsequently, the forecasting of several climatic variables is performed from 2021 to 2025 by time series analysis utilizing the ARIMA (Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) model. Then, this paper investigates the interdependency scenario between the climate change and the electricity sector. Afterward, this paper discusses some major impacts of climate change on the electricity sector. Then, this paper presents the present electricity scenario of India and the renewable power potential of India. Subsequently, this paper suggests some open research challenges with recommendations for improving the energy sector of India. The insatiable appetite for non-renewable fossil fuels in the past has resulted in a plethora of anthropogenic climate changes and pollution across the globe, causing serious threats to human beings and the environment. To avoid this contention, greater use of wind energy could be the solution for economic growth and sustainable environment, in the long run. This paper discusses the ways in which India has started the growth of wind energy and the country’s potential to expand its contribution to meet ever-increasing energy needs. The paper lucidly presents India’s progress to become the top five wind energy producers in the world. This paper also discusses the major achievements, programs, policy, and incentives for the installation of wind power in India. The present study analyses the trend and variability in wave parameters (wave height and wave period) and wave power (WP) in the North Indian Ocean (NIO). The impact of climatic modes such as El‐Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on the WP of NIO has been investigated using the European Centre for Medium‐Range Weather Forecasts reanalysis datasets (ERA5) for the period 1959–2021. It is observed that along the west coast of India (WCI), the coastal WP increased from south to north during summer whereas, in winter and other seasons the WP increased from north to south. Instead, along the east coast of India (ECI), WP is higher on the north than the south, always. The annual WP climatology along the Indian coasts reveals that WP potential is higher along/adjacent to WCI than the ECI. It was observed that the total significant wave height (SWH) WP anomalies during normal and positive IOD (pIOD) events are mainly dominated by swell WP, whereas during El Niño and combined ENSO‐IOD events, dominated by wind seas. During the peak of pure El‐Niño, the SWH WP shows a basin‐wide increase in WP anomalies. However, during summer, SWH WP showed increasing trends over Bay of Bengal. It is evident from the composite analysis that annual averaged WP anomalies are decreasing in normal, pure pIOD and combined events, but El‐Niño is found to increase the WP anomalies over the Arabian Sea in the region north of 20°N. The present study advocates that a detailed analysis of WP along the Indian coastal regions is beneficial to the renewable energy industries to utilize this as an important energy resource. Energy industries are the pioneers in exploiting the knowledge management (KM) for meeting the challenges. Renewable energy industries are emerging to meet the energy security and climate changes and challenges. Therefore, it was of interest to study how the Indian renewable energy (RE) industries are able to exploit the KM practices to boost their organisation performance. Pilot study was undertaken to study the prevalence of the knowledge management (KM) practices in Indian renewable energy industries through the questionnaire and the measurement of Knowledge Management Performance Index (KMPI) value. The questionnaire was modified based on the outcomes of pilot study. The same qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis were done for the pilot study, and the KMPI value was also determined. The relation of all KM concepts, viz. KM creation, KM storage, KM transfer, KM exploitation and KM dissemination was the construct. This study provides one of first insights of KM performance in promoting new and renewable energy technologies. The clarity on the knowledge and technological gap, process of extracting and disseminating information, difficulty in accessing skilled labour, lack of collaborative R and D and research activities and storage of knowledge were found to be major issues in the exploitation of KM in RE industries in India. Abstract: This paper discusses the potential of renewable energy, investment and CO2 mitigation by renewable energy technologies. Currently, India's per-capita emissions are around one tonne of CO2/year. The present energy scene offers India a window of opportunity to invest in renewable energy. The annual turnover of renewable energy industry has reached $12.3 billion in 2011, which is 36% higher than 2010 investment of $7.5 billion. Increasing the share of renewable energy in overall energy mix is an effective option to mitigate CO2 emission. Presently, the share of renewable energy is around 12% in the energy mix. The present study estimated CO2 mitigation potential of Indian renewable energy sector about 203milliontonnes with an installed capacity of 24GW in 2012. However, enormous potential identified in renewable energy sector with favorable CO2 mitigation the government is compromising with limited financial resources. However, policy efforts need to be strengthened to encourage a massive scale-up of renewable technologies to build sustained low carbon economy. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: This paper uses complex systems theory to develop a conceptual model that suggests how development can be catalyzed by leveraging innovation in both technology and social organization to solve socioeconomic problems for developing country populations. Emerging technologies, together with new, distributed forms of organization such as multi-actor partnerships between the public sector, the private sector and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), can enhance access to energy, basic services and employment. The model is supported by evidence from a case study of a leading multi-actor partnership in the Indian renewable energy sector, specifically, bio-fuels production and outlines four propositions drawn from the analysis. Abstract: Kyoto protocol was the first agreement regarding control of climate change problems. Clean development mechanism (CDM) was included in the Kyoto protocol to promote sustainable development in developing countries (non-Annex I countries) and assist developed countries (Annex I countries) to achieve their emission reduction targets. CDM allows trading of emissions reductions and helps to increase sustainable development in a developing country and reduce global emissions in developed country. Renewable energy sources are the appropriate alternatives for sustainable development through CDM. India is one of the emerging nations in renewable energy sector. Government of India is trying to enhance energy generation through renewable and carbon trading. This paper shows the current status and progress of renewable energy through CDM in India. The use of renewable energy for transportation has received increasing support in environmental policy-making around the globe. Following this trend, the Indian government launched a large-scale biofuel programme in selected federal states, which involved the ecological rehabilitation of so-called wastelands with energy crops. Although met with considerable opposition from civil society actors, the programme was further expanded and a national biofuel policy was adopted. Employing a critical discourse approach, this study argues that the government's strategy to promote biofuels can be explained based on technocratic design principles that have underpinned previous public policies in India. A consolidated view of these factors indicates that the continued domination of the pro-biofuel discourse draws on a notion of weak ecological modernization.
