The development of urbanization has changed the original land cover and exacerbated the urban heat island effect, seriously affecting the sustainable development of the ecological environment. Research on urban heat island characteristics and land cover changes in five major urban agglomerations in China to provide a reference for preventing thermal environmental risks and urban agglomeration construction planning. This paper estimates the surface urban heat island intensity (SUHII) of the five major urban agglomerations in China from 2003 to 2019 based on Google Earth Engine (GEE) through the urban–rural dichotomy, analyzes their trends through the Sen + M–K trend analysis method, and combines the detrending rate matrix to analyze the impact of land cover type shift on urban heat island change. Research shows that (1) the land cover types of the five major urban agglomerations in China have changed considerably from 2003 to 2019, and all five major urban agglomerations in China experienced varying degrees of urban expansion. (2) The annual average value of SUHII decreases in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and middle reaches of the urban agglomerations, while the annual average value of SUHII increases in Chengdu-Chongqing and Pearl River Delta urban agglomerations. (3) The spatial composition of land cover types in the five major urban agglomerations in China is highly spatially correlated with urban heat islands, with urban land and bare land urban heat islands being the most pronounced. (4) The land cover type shift has the most significant heat island impact on Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomerations. (5) The land cover change (LCC) with an increasing trend in SUHII is mainly bare land converted to arable land, and water bodies, grassland, forest land, and arable land converted to urban land. Place names that contain rich regional cultural connotations are "living fossils" of history and culture, and they are of great tourist value. Taking the main urban area of Chengdu City as an example, this paper analyzes the cultural characteristics and connotations of place names, as well as their tourist values. This value is believed to mainly include stimulating tourists' interest in traveling, presenting local tourism features, enhancing the travel experience of the visitors and serving the tourism economy. Then this paper discusses the problems of place name cultural heritage and puts forward the tourism development strategies for Chengdu's place name culture. Such strategies could include establishing a tourism place name system of Chengdu scenic spot names, using place names in the restoration and development of ancient scenery, combining place names with food tourism resources and high-quality tourism commodities, developing cultural and creative products related to Chengdu place names, strengthening the theoretical discussion on Chengdu place name culture and conducting dissemination activities for Chengdu place name culture. Predicting and understanding travellers' mode choices is crucial to developing urban transportation systems and formulating traffic demand management strategies. Machine learning (ML) methods have been widely used as promising alternatives to traditional discrete choice models owing to their high prediction accuracy. However, a significant body of ML methods, especially the branch of neural networks, is constrained by overfitting and a lack of model interpretability. This study employs a neural network with feature selection for predicting travel mode choices and Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) analysis for model interpretation. A dataset collected in Chengdu, China was used for experimentation. The results reveal that the neural network achieves commendable prediction performance, with a 12% improvement over the traditional multinomial logit model. Also, feature selection using a combined result from two embedded methods can alleviate the overfitting tendency of the neural network, while establishing a more robust model against redundant or unnecessary variables. Additionally, the SHAP analysis identifies factors such as travel expenditure, age, driving experience, number of cars owned, individual monthly income, and trip purpose as significant features in our dataset. The analysis of the spatial connection and structural characteristics evolution of the railway passenger transport network in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle is of great significance to the future network construction and layout optimization. This paper constructs the railway passenger transport network of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle based on the 46 863 617 railway passenger transport data, and uses GIS spatial analysis and social network analysis methods to analyze the space-time evolution of railway passenger transport links, the evolution of structure characteristics and the impact of network structure on economy and population in continuous time series. The results show that the polarization of railway passenger transport links in Chengdu Chongqing Economic Circle is obvious, and the passenger transport flow is mainly concentrated in Chengdu, followed by Mianyang, the main districts of Chongqing and Deyang, and other cities account for less than 20% of the passenger transport flow. The density of railway passenger transport network in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle is increasing year by year, but it is still at a low level. The railway passenger transport network has a low average path length and a high average clustering coefficient, and it is characterized by a small world. The degree centrality and betweenness centrality of Chengdu and the main districts of Chongqing are far more than those of other cities. The accessibility of railway passenger transport in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle is largely due to the intermediary role of Chengdu and the main districts of Chongqing. There is no railway passenger transport connection between most cities. The degree centrality, proximity centrality and intermediate centrality have positive effects on GDP, and pass the 1% significance level test. The degree centrality and intermediate centrality have negative impacts on the population, and pass the significance level tests of 5% and 10% respectively. PM2.5 concentration is an important indicator to measure air quality. Its value is affected by meteorological factors and air pollutants, so it has the characteristics of nonlinearity, irregularity, and uncertainty. To accurately predict PM2.5 concentration, this paper proposes a hybrid prediction system based on the Synchrosqueezing Wavelet Transform (SWT) method, Quantum Particle Swarm Optimization (QPSO) algorithm, and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model. First, the original data are denoised by the SWT method and taken as the input of the prediction model. Then, the main parameters of the LSTM model are optimized by global search based on the QPSO algorithm, which solves the problems of slow convergence and local extremum of traditional parameter training algorithms. Finally, the PM2.5 daily concentration data of Chengdu, Shijiazhuang, Shenyang, and Wuhan are predicted by the proposed SWT-QPSO-LSTM model, and the prediction results are compared with those of single prediction models and hybrid prediction models. Simple Summary: Accurate and efficient automatic individual recognition of livestock such as goats is one of the key tasks to achieve smart farming. However, this task is challenging due to factors such as the dense distribution of livestock in a barn. To accurately recognize Chengdu ma goats, a high-quality sheep breed with local characteristics, we construct a Chengdu ma goat dataset containing nearly one thousand images with manual annotation information and propose a method for the automatic individual recognition of Chengdu ma goats using a computer. Experiments demonstrate the usability of our method to accurately recognize Chengdu ma goats under extreme conditions such as dense target distribution and drastic differences in scale. It is worth noting that the method is scalable, which enhances the network's representation ability for data by learning the structural information of goats' head area. The location and category information obtained by our automatic individual recognition method is the basis for realizing a series of subsequent intelligent breeding tasks, such as precision feeding based on age and sex. Our method provides a new idea for automatic livestock recognition and can be extended to be applied to additional types of livestock. The Chengdu ma goat is an excellent local breed in China. As one of the breeds listed in the National List of Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources Protection, the protection of its germplasm resources is particularly important. However, the existing breeding and protection methods for them are relatively simple, due to the weak technical force and lack of intelligent means to assist. Most livestock farmers still conduct small-scale breeding in primitive ways, which is not conducive to the breeding and protection of Chengdu ma goats. In this paper, an automatic individual recognition method for Chengdu ma goats is proposed, which saves labor costs and does not depend on large-scale mechanized facilities. The main contributions of our work are as follows: (1) a new Chengdu ma goat dataset is built, which forms the basis for object detection and classification tasks; (2) an improved detection algorithm for Chengdu ma goats based on TPH-YOLOv5 is proposed, which is able to accurately localize goats in high-density scenes with severe scale variance of targets; (3) a classifier incorporating a self-supervised learning module is implemented to improve the classification performance without increasing the labeled data and inference computation overhead. Experiments show that our method is able to accurately recognize Chengdu ma goats in the actual indoor barn breeding environment, which lays the foundation for precision feeding based on sex and age. The increasing need for capacity has led the railway industry to explore new train control systems based on a concept called virtual coupling. Inspired by the platooning of autonomous vehicles, the safe operation of virtual coupling is guaranteed by a relative brake distance-based train separation method. This paper proposes a novel long short-term memory (LSTM)-based model predictive control (MPC) method for train operations. An MPC-based control design for virtual coupled train operations is presented. The LSTM is introduced to model the dynamics of the preceding train to approximate the actual train operations. With the train dynamics models, the operation trajectories of the preceding train are predicted based on planned control inputs. A study of a metro line in Chengdu was chosen to analyze the proposed control approach. The simulation results of different scenarios show that compared with the conventional MPC methods, the proposed LSTM-based MPC can reduce the speed differences and position differences of tracking trains by up to 35 % and 25 % , respectively. With the advantages of fast construction speed and small disturbance to stratum, shield tunneling is becoming the preferred construction scheme for metro construction. However, if the disturbance of stratum cannot be clearly understood, it will affect the safety of adjacent underground structures and aboveground buildings. Based on the construction of the interval tunnel between Shizishan station and Chuanshi station of Chengdu metro line 7 project, this paper proposed a simplified calculation method to analyze the impact of shield excavation on adjacent pile foundation. A two-stage method of modified Peck formula and Winkler elastic foundation model was used to investigate the additional displacement and internal force of pile. A three-dimensional numerical model validated with the field test data was performed to compare with the theoretical results. The impact factors and their impact degree were discussed. The results show that the additional displacement and internal force are at a reasonable and acceptable level. The permanent pile foundation should adopt the small diameter pile as far as possible. When the small diameter pile foundation cannot meet the stress requirements, the design scheme of the pile group should be adopted. The area around shield tunnel is divided into strong impact area of pile foundation (S ≤ 0.75 D), slight impact area (0.75 D ≤ S ≤ 1.5 D), and no impact area (S > 1.5 D). Using the CRITIC method, comprehensive index evaluation method, VAR model, coupling coordination model and other methods, this paper evaluates the comprehensive development of the population economy and eco-geological environment composite system in the twin-city economic circle of Chengdu–Chongqing region from 2000 to 2020, verifies the dynamic coupling relationship between subsystems and measures the coupling coordination degree of complex system. Meanwhile, the differences in the development process of each subsystem are discussed and the spatial–temporal evolution characteristics and laws of coupling coordination of the composite system during the research period are analyzed. The results reveal the following: (1) There is a long-term coordinated relationship between population, economy and eco-geological environment in Chengdu–Chongqing region, which have the conditions for emergence and generation. (2) The subsystems of population, economy and eco-geological environment in Chengdu–Chongqing region show an overall upward trend, among which the Sichuan part obviously outperforms the Chongqing part. Besides, the growth rate of the economy subsystem is significantly higher than that of the population, eco-geological environment subsystem. (3) The coupling coordinated development of the composite system has shown a benign upward development trend, gradually changing from "composite spiral structure" to "two cores outstanding, peripheral collapse, the west superior to the east", while the main coordination state has developed from "Basic synergy—Economic lag" in 2000 to "Basic synergy—Population lag" in 2022. Rail-transit hub classification in TOD refers to the categorization of transit stations based on their level of connectivity and ridership and the potential for development around them as part of a Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) strategy. TOD, as an essential concept in developing smart cities and public transportation accessibility, has attracted the focus of many policymakers. To this end, many research projects have been dedicated to classifying the rail-transit stations, although the necessity of integrated models for rail-transit hubs could have been mentioned in previous papers. Therefore, this parametric case study is directed to apply the Node–Place–Ridership–Time (NPRT) model to provide a logical classification model for Chengdu rail-transit hubs at the junctions of high-speed railway and subway stations. Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) provided a series of equations, including the effective parameters of the NPRT model. These equations were then verified by the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to provide the effect of each node and place values on the integrated ridership of rail-transit hubs in different time periods. Economic development and fast growing urbanization in China have caused severe air pollution, with frequent pollution episodes endangering the health of inhabitants and disturbing social activities, and as an expanding metropolis, Chengdu has suffered ever since. The concentration variations of main air pollutants, such as PM10, PM2.5 and NO2, often show periodicity because of meteorological impact and anthropic activities, and display orientation discrepancies due to influences of wind speed (WS), frequency and pollutant sources. These features have complicated the mechanisms of pollution episodes and deepened the difficulty in pollution control evaluation. The WS has significant influences on the periodicity and orientation variations in pollutant concentrations, and quantifying the influence of which is of high significance and provides sustainable foundations for pollution alleviation strategies. Different time-scale cycles (i.e., Diurnal, weekly, seasonal and annual), along with the WS, wind frequency, wind and spatial orientations in urban areas, were analyzed in this paper. Results show that the periodicity of diurnal, seasonal and annual cycles is remarkable, and weekly cycle is obvious by adding the influence of the WS in 16 orientations. The WS has direct impacts on pollutants varying in the range of 1.5–2.5 m/s, and has a remarkable diffusion effect on pollutants once above 2.5 m/s. Over heavy pollution hours in diurnal, weekly, annual cycles and transitional seasons, the WS had more significant influences on pollutants, and whereas the wind frequency is not the main impact factor for orientation variations. For Chengdu, the northeast orientation is suitable to construct a wind panel with a remarkable diffusion effect on pollutants, while air pollutions in the northwest and southwest orientations were severe with the WS below 1.5 m/s, and pollution diffusion in the north-northwest orientation was the worst. This work can provide guidance and reference for urban planning optimization and air environment protection in cities with air quality control considerations impacted by city wind. Regarding the whole excavation process of the support system of the Southwest Jiaotong University Station of Chengdu Metro Line 6 (the deep foundation pit bored pile & steel support and support system) as the engineering background, this paper studies the deformation rule of the deep foundation pit bored pile & steel support of the sandy pebble foundation. The deformation rule of this support system, the settlement rule of the ground surface outside the pit, and the rule of the uplift of the loose at the bottom of the pit are studied. A key analysis of the positive corner of the foundation pit is conducted, and the rationality of the optimization of the support scheme is evaluated. This paper draws on linguistic-ethnographic fieldwork in Chengdu, China to consider the utility of broad labels such as Chinese, Western and gay in accounting for the performance of sexual and cultural identity. I problematise work which takes such notions to be stable and self-evidently referential, arguing instead that identity is much more fluid, emergent and discourse-dependent than conventional understandings tend to imply. I focus on visibility of queer sexual identity partly because it is an especially accessible example of the role of language in identity performance, being most often achieved through verbal interaction. More broadly, however, this focus emerged through my ethnographically informed, discursive-sociocultural approach to my life and research in mainland China during the period 2008–2019. Specifically, I use spoken data from the interviews which formed part of this process to argue that social practice within related ethnic and/or social groups is best understood in terms of the situated use of sociolinguistic tools and the entailed negotiation of pertinent ideological systems. From this perspective, the ostensibly insurmountable ideological pressures that "Chinese gays" are typically seen to face, and which tend to be attributed to a taken-for-granted and monolithic "Chinese culture", are better interpreted with reference to the complex relationship between language, culture and identity. Thus, I do not assume the right to make broad claims about what Chinese gays do, or to state that they are categorically different from their presumed homogenous Western counterparts. Instead, I discuss what certain individuals say in certain conversations, noting how their performance of identity is often highly individualised, being shaped according to the interactants present and the interactional aims relevant to specific moments of communication. Attaining optimal eco-efficiency is of paramount importance in promoting the sustainable and harmonious development of the economy and environment within urban agglomerations. Firstly, this paper utilizes the Super-SBM model with undesirable output to measure the eco-efficiency (EE) of 64 cities in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei metropolitan region (BTHMR), the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), the Pearl River Delta (PRD), and the Chengdu–Chongqing Economic Zone (CCEZ) from 2006 to 2019. Secondly, this study puts forth a novel and comprehensive index system aimed at evaluating the urbanization efficiency and sheds light on the spatiotemporal changes in EE and urbanization efficiency. Finally, the STIRPAT model is used to examine the influencing factors of EE and to investigate the correlation between EE and urbanization efficiency. The study found that the overall EE of the four typical urban agglomerations is high, but the trend varies with a decrease of about 12.9% from 2006 to 2019. The mean EE is in the order of CCEZ > PRD > BTHMR > YRD, with mean values of 0.941, 0.909, 0.842, and 0.732, respectively. The level of science and technology and the urbanization efficiency have a significant positive impact on EE, while population, industrial structure, FDI, and greening level have an inhibitory effect on urban eco-efficiency. Based on the results, policy suggestions such as paying attention to regional heterogeneity and giving full play to the government's macro-regulatory role in shaping the economic and industrial structure are proposed to serve as a guide for the coordinated development of urban agglomerations under the Dual Carbon Target. In this paper, a network coupling mechanism is studied to couple the air sector network, airport network, and air route network into a multilayer air network model. Then, the altitude layers are divided into three: high, medium, and low, and the arrival and departure flight procedures are also considered. By defining the association between the altitude layers and the waypoints, a multilayer air network model considering the altitude layer is constructed. Then, the line graph theory is used to redefine the nodes and edges, and the network is reconstructed to obtain a new single-layer one which is easy to calculate. Finally, a case study is carried out in Chengdu control area. The results show that the proposed model is closer to the reality, and the invulnerability performance is more referential. Besides, it also reflects the impact of altitude layers on the efficiency of airspace. The Local Climate Zone (LCZ) classification scheme is a vital method of building a category dataset for high-resolution urban land. For the development of urban meteorology, air pollution and related disciplines, the high-resolution classification data of urban buildings are very important. This study aims to create LCZ datasets with detailed architectural characteristics for major cities and urban agglomerations in China, and obtain more accurate results. We constructed 120 m resolution land use datasets for 63 cities (mainly provincial capitals, municipalities directly under the Central Government, important prefecture-level cities and special administrative regions) and 4 urban agglomerations in China based on the local climate zone (LCZ) classification scheme using the World Urban Database and Access Portal Tools method (WUDAPT). Nearly 100,000 samples were used, of which 76,000 training samples were used to provide spectral signatures and 23,000 validation samples were used to ensure accuracy assessments. Compared with similar studies, the LCZ datasets in this paper were generally of good quality, with an overall accuracy of 71–93% (mean 82%), an accuracy for built classifications of 57–83% (mean 72%), and an accuracy for natural classifications of 70–99% (mean 90%). In addition, 35% of 63 Chinese cities have construction areas of more than 5%, and the plateaus northwest of Chengdu and Chongqing are covered with snow all year round. Therefore, based on the original LCZ classification system, the construction area (LZC H) and the snow cover (LCZ I) were newly added as the basic classifications of urban LCZ classification in China. Detailed architectural features of cities and urban agglomerations in China are provided by the LCZ datasets in this study. Taking the Chengdu Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) Plant in China as object, totally 100 ambient soil samples from 20 sampling points were taken for experiment. This paper analysed the characteristics of Cd in soil. By analyses, the distribution and health risk assessment were taken into consideration. The results demonstrated that the Cd value in soil in the surroundings of the MSWI plant was beyond the acceptable level according to standards (GB15618-2018). The risk assessment in this experiment showed that the carcinogenic and noncarcinogenic risks via inhalation exposure were in the accessible levels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The cross-impact of environmental pollution among cities has been reported in more research works recently. To implement the coordinated control of environmental pollution, it is necessary to explore the structural characteristics and influencing factors of the PM2.5 spatial correlation network from the perspective of the metropolitan area. This paper utilized the gravity model to construct the PM2.5 spatial correlation network of ten metropolitan areas in China from 2019 to 2020. After analyzing the overall characteristics and node characteristics of each spatial correlation network based on the social network analysis (SNA) method, the quadratic assignment procedure (QAP) regression analysis method was used to explore the influence mechanism of each driving factor. Patent granted differences, as a new indicator, were also considered during the above. The results showed that: (1) In the overall network characteristics, the network density of Chengdu and the other three metropolitan areas displayed a downward trend in two years, and the network density of Wuhan and Chengdu was the lowest. The network density and network grade of Hangzhou and the other four metropolitan areas were high and stable, and the network structure of each metropolitan area was unstable. (2) From the perspective of the node characteristics, the PM2.5 spatial correlation network all performed trends of centralization and marginalization. Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and South Central Liaoning were "multi-core" metropolitan areas, and the other eight were "single-core" metropolitan areas. (3) The analysis results of QAP regression illustrated that the top three influencing factors of the six metropolitan areas were geographical locational relationship, the secondary industrial proportion differences, respectively, and patent granted differences, and the other metropolitan areas had no dominant influencing factors. In order to evaluate the URTPSQ (Urban Rail Transit Passenger Service Quality) comprehensively, find the shortage of URTPSQ, find out the difference between the actual service situation and the passenger's expectation and demand, and provide passengers with better travel services, a passenger-oriented KANO-Entropy-TOPSIS (Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method is proposed and applied in this paper. Firstly, a KANO model is applied to select the service quality indicators from the 24 URTPSQ evaluation sub-indicators, according to the selection results, the KANO service quality indicators of URTPSQ are constructed. Then the sensitivity of the KANO service quality indicators based on the KANO model are calculated and ranked, the PS (Passenger Satisfaction) of each KANO service quality indicator by using the Entropy-TOPSIS method is calculated and ranked. Based on the difference between the sensitivity degree rank and the satisfaction degree rank of each KANO service quality indicator, determine the service quality KANO indicators of the URTPSQ that need to be improved significantly. A case study is conducted by taking the Chengdu subway system in China as a background. The results show that the Chengdu subway operation enterprises should pay attention to the must-be demand first, then the one-dimensional demand, finally the attractive demand. The three indicators, including transfer on the same floor in the station, service quality of staffs of urban rail transit enterprises, and cleanness in the station and passenger coach, need to be improved urgently. For the managers and operators of urban rail transit system, the passengers' must-be demand should be satisfied first if the KANO model is applied to evaluate the service. In China, there is a "psy‐boom," which is understood as the rapid increase in the provision of psychological services and interest in psychological concepts since the initiation of market reforms. This is a heavily gendered phenomenon. This paper seeks to explore why women are drawn into the psy‐boom and what sustains their participation in it. Following a year of fieldwork engaging in various forms of psychotherapy training in the city of Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan province, China, the paper looks in detail at three women who engage in the psy‐boom. The psy‐boom creates a space for these women to try to articulate complex and often competing desires thrown up by the gendered circumstances in which they find themselves. Protection and development of historical and cultural ancient town have always been the hot topic. With the continuous deepening of the study of ancient town and the rise of the landscape design subject, systematic, professional information and drawings about the landscape of ancient town are relatively scarce. To make up for the blank, Pingle Ancient Town in Chengdu was taken as the research object, and systemic research on the spatial pattern of urban landscape was conducted. In this paper, landscape features were studied in the scale of the space enclosed by urban boundaries. According to the spatial structure, the landscape features were divided into fi ve aspects: boundary, axis, skeleton, group domain and base, and detailed study was conducted in the changes of time axis. The preliminary research methods were mainly literature and site survey and mapping, and the history, environment and style of Pingle Ancient Town were discussed by referring to historical classics, journal papers and books. In the middle stage, surveying and mapping improvement work was carried out. In the later stage, papers were analyzed and written. High volume of traffic is loaded on urban highway during peak hours as well as the ramp connecting main road and auxiliary road of highway. Once the demand exceeds the capacity of the ramp, congestion may happen on both main road and the auxiliary road. To deal with this problem, an new urban highway ramp, switchable ramp (SR) that can switch between on and off condition, is proposed in this paper. A macroscopic time-space discrete model is built in this paper to model this process by dividing the studied time period into short time periods and the studied road segment into small sections. The impact of the type of ramp on upstream and downstream traffic flow is analyzed. A segment of urban highway in Chengdu, China, is used as a case study. The traffic flow data in peak hours is collected and used. Mathematical analysis proves that the SR system proposed in this paper can reduce the total travel time (TTT) in the studied area. We investigate a deep foundation pit for urban substation construction in Chengdu, China. The pit was excavated in a sandy gravel layer and has a depth of 24.6 m. Detailed field surveys and monitoring were carried out to investigate the deformation characteristics of the foundation pit and its supporting structure related to excavation. Flac3D software was used to analyze the influence of pile anchor design parameters, including pile diameters, pile spacing, anchor cable prestress, anchor angle, and the number of rows of anchor cables, on deformation of the deep foundation pit. The results showed the pile diameter was the most critical influencing factor for pile deformation. The influences of anchor cable prestress and anchor angle on the horizontal displacement of the pile were inferior to the influence of the pile diameter and the number of anchor cable rows. Scientific and technological innovation and the sustainable development of new urbanization are the key factors to promote national economic growth, and have a very important role in promoting regional development and international competitiveness. Based on the panel data of 16 cities in Chengdu-Chongqing dual-city economic circle from 2015 to 2022, this paper uses entropy weight method to determine the weight of each index and constructs a coupling coordination model to explore the sustainable development of scientific and technological innovation and new urbanization, the Panel Vector Autoregression (PVAR) model was used to further verify the interaction between the two. The empirical results show that the coupling coordination degree of scientific and technological innovation and new urbanization in Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle is increasing year by year. There is a balanced relationship between scientific and technological innovation and new urbanization, and the two are two-way Granger causality. Therefore, the conclusion puts forward the practical enlightenment of increasing investment in scientific and technological innovation, guiding enterprises to carry out scientific and technological innovation to feedback new urbanization and accelerate the construction of new urbanization, and actively integrating with urban development. [Display omitted] • Latrine odor release followed "rapid increase, continuous decrease, stable" pattern. • Temperature changes mainly drove the variation of fecal microbes and odor emission. • The composited microbial deodorant significantly suppressed odor emission. • Abundance of odor-producing bacteria were obviously decreased after deodorization. As an important source of malodor, the odor gases emitted from public toilet significantly interfered the air quality of living surroundings, resulting in environmental problem which received little attention before. Thus, this paper explored the odor release pattern of latrine feces and deodorization effect with composited microbial agent in Chengdu, China. The odor release rules were investigated in sealed installations with a working volume of 9 L for 20 days. The odor units (OU), ammonia (NH 3), hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) were selected to assess the release of malodorous gases under different temperature and humidity, while the highest malodor release was observed under 45℃, with OU and TVOC concentration was 643.91 ± 2.49 and 7767.33 ± 33.50 mg/m3, respectively. Microbes with deodorization ability were screened and mixed into an agent, which composited of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens , Lactobacillus plantarum , Enterococcus faecalis and Pichia fermentans. The addition of microbial deodorant could significantly suppress the release of malodor gas during a 20-day trial, and the removal efficiency of NH 3 , H 2 S, TVOC and OU was 81.50 %, 38.31 %, 64.38 %, and 76.86 %, respectively. The analysis of microbial community structure showed that temperature was the main environmental factor driving the microbial variations in latrine feces, while Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes were the main bacteria phyla involved in the formation and emission of malodorous gases. However, after adding the deodorant, the abundance of Bacteroidetes, Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria were decreased, while the abundance of Firmicutes was increased. Furthermore, P. fermentans successfully colonized in fecal substrates and became the dominant fungus after deodorization. These results expanded the understanding of the odor release from latrine feces, and the composited microbial deodorant provided a valuable basis to the management of odor pollution. This study aims to unveil the spatiotemporal evolution of congestion within terminal airspace, offering an in-depth analysis of congestion concerns to effectively utilize airspace resources and devise targeted control strategies, thereby enhancing airspace operation safety and efficiency. Initially, converting segment flow rates into equivalent speeds serves as a quantitative benchmark for operational status. Subsequently, an enhanced version of the ST-Moran's I index model, specifically tailored to terminal airspace, is developed by incorporating improvements across spatial weight matrices, standard state parameters, and temporal dimensions. Validating this model with actual operational data from Chengdu's terminal airspace, the research demonstrates significant advancements. Compared to conventional models, the proposed model enhances recognition rates for congestion in spatial and temporal dimensions by 62.5% and 43.61%, respectively. Congestion within terminal airspace predominantly occurs at the intersection of departure-climb and approach-departure segments, exhibiting evident spatiotemporal migration behavior. Online ride-splitting has rapidly evolved worldwide, providing new means to enhance the efficiency of urban travel and reduce the number of vehicles and traffic congestion. While ride-splitting is currently believed to improve vehicle occupancy rates and decrease total travel distances, passengers may perceive it as resulting in additional travel due to ride sharing. To gain a more intuitive understanding of the current operations of ride-splitting, this study delves into carpooling behavior and analyzes its relative impact using GPS trajectory data from DiDi Chuxing in Chengdu, China. The investigation focuses on the behavior of ride-splitting and examines its relative impact based on disparities in total vehicle miles traveled (VMT) and travel duration between ride-splitting traveling (RST) and corresponding separated traveling (ST), aiming to estimate the effect of RST on urban mobility. Following are the three main findings of this study: (a) The existing operation of RST induces 7%–10% extra VMT and 20%–35% extra duration for RST users; (b) The RST achieves 30%–35% VMT and 10%–20% duration saving for drivers who are willing to provide RST service; (c) The RST saves up to 10% VMT and duration varying by time in a day. To clarify the connotations and extensions of urban resilience, this study focuses on the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle with 16 cities as research subjects. A comprehensive evaluation index system was constructed to measure the resilience of each city from 2003 to 2020. The spatial-temporal evolution characteristics were analyzed using Kernel density estimation, standard deviation ellipse, and spatial Markov chain analysis, and the spatial Tobit model was introduced to discover the influencing factors. The results indicate the following: Urban resilience in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle displays an upward trend, with the center of gravity moving to the southwest, and the polarization phenomenon intensifying. The urban resilience level in a region has certain spatial and geographical dependence, while the probability of urban resilience transfer differs in adjacent cities with different resilience levels. Urban centrality, economic scale, openness level, and financial development promote urban resilience, whereas government scale significantly inhibits it. The classical multi-period inventory routing problem (MIRP) combines inventory management and vehicle routing problems, attempting to maintain customer inventory levels via autonomous deliveries, with the assumption that stock-out never occurs at the supply side. While this is no more the truth when a common third-party logistics company operates a central warehouse for a group of small and medium sized retailing companies. Procurements have to be made to refill inventory at the central warehouse. This study thus extends the traditional MIRP by incorporating procurement decisions (MIRP-PD) and tries to minimize the total cost of procurement, inventory holding and transportation. To our knowledge, this paper is among the first to formally describe MIRP-PD and model it as a mixed integer linear program. A hybrid two-level heuristic is proposed to address large-scale instances. The upper level of the algorithm determines the visiting schedule while the lower level works out procurement and routing decisions accordingly. Components from tabu search and adaptive threshold acceptance are also embedded to help escape from local optima. Extensive numerical instances are generated from a real case in Chengdu (China), based on which the computational results reveal the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed algorithm compared with the commercial solver CPLEX. The comparison between MIRP and MIRP-PD has demonstrated the cost advantage of incorporating procurement decisions into inventory and routing plans. The rapid development of megacities has greatly impacted land use in the urban–rural fringe area. The Western Protected Area defined by Chengdu's Master Plan (2016–2035) to end the unrestrained urban sprawl, where locates the most superior agricultural and ecological resources, namely Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan Essence Irrigation District, is facing great challenges when implementing protective strategies, related to huge land use competition caused by land multi-functionality. To better assess and understand land-use conflict and its influence, this paper constructs a comprehensive evaluation model with 'multi-functionality and landscape complexity' based on existing research, with a 1 km × 1 km spatial resolution, and analyzes its relationship with land-use and land-cover (LULC) change, based on 30 m land resolution data from 2000, 2010, and 2020, produced by the Institute of Resource and Environmental Science and the Data Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Overall, two kinds of land-use conflict concerning function suitability and landscape pattern co-emerge spatially, but there also exist "high-low" combinations. The result shows that land consolidation or the adjustment of land use might take place more often when both the suitability conflict and the landscape conflict reach a certain threshold. The results provide enlightenment for further expanding the quantitative research on land-use conflict and confirm the potential of applying the land-use conflict index in delineating territorial spatial planning control areas. Shield tunneling method is widely used in urban metro construction. The construction stability is closely related to the engineering geological conditions. Sandy pebble strata have a loose structure and low cohesion, resulting in great engineering-induced stratigraphic disturbance. Meanwhile, the high water-abundance and strong permeability are extremely detrimental to construction safety. It is of great significance to evaluate the dangerousness of shield tunneling in water-rich pebble strata with large particle size. In this paper, risk assessment of engineering practice is carried through with Chengdu metro project in China as a case study. Referring to the special engineering situations and assessment workload, seven evaluation indices, including compressive strength of pebble layer, boulder volume content, permeability coefficient, groundwater depth, grouting pressure, tunneling speed and tunnel buried depth are selected to establish an evaluation system. A complete risk assessment framework is established based on the cloud model, AHP and entropy weight method. Further, the measured surface settlement is taken as the risk degree characterization to verify the results. This study can provide reference for method selection and evaluation system establishment in the risk assessment of shield tunnel construction in water-rich sandy pebble strata, and contribute to proposing safety management in similar engineering projects. For the location-routing problem of medical waste treatment centers, this paper proposed a multi-objective optimization model considering the public risk. Firstly, from the perspective of the government, the public and the processing center contractor, this paper established the mathematical model which simultaneously considered the operation cost, public risk and transportation cost.Secondly, according to the characteristics of the constructed model, this paper designed an improved multi-objective salp swarm algorithm to solve the problem. Chengdu has experienced a rapid urbanization in the past two decades, and its land spatial pattern has undergone severe changes. It's meaningful to investigate the tempo-spatial evolution of land spatial pattern and then contribute to high-quality development in Chengdu. Based on the Landsat-series satellite imagery and land use/cover datasets, this paper investigates Chengdu's land function change concerning Production, Living and Ecological (PLE) land. The methods of land dynamics degree, landscape pattern index and Pearson correlation were be employed to analyzes the tempo-spatial evolution of landscape pattern in Chengdu, and some suggestions were finally made. We found that there were severe dynamic degree of PLE land in Chengdu and the production and ecological land were decrease obviously before 2015. Contrastingly, the dynamic degree is decrease after 2015, high dynamic degree regions are move to the northeast from 2000–2019. In addition, the change of production land is the main factor affecting the landscape pattern of Chengdu. In general, we put forward the macroscopic strategy and suggestions of "one core, two belts, four regions, and one direction" to support the high-quality development of Chengdu. Travel time forecasting has become a core component of smart transportation systems, which assists both travelers and traffic organizers with route planning, travel schedule adjustments, ride-sharing, navigation applications, and efficient traffic management. However, timely and accurate travel time forecasting still remains a critical challenge owing to the complex nonlinear and dynamic fluctuations of spatial–temporal dependencies. Also, spatial sparseness is a big issue in traffic forecasting, since adopting the implicit interactions between the close traffic regions leads to superficial characterization of spatio-temporal dependences. In this paper, we propose a new deep learning-based framework (STTG-TTE) that addresses these drawbacks and improves the travel time estimation. First, we build a geo-hashing algorithm for the data sparsity issue that incorporates fluctuations of nearby and distant traffic situations in terms of spatio-temporal dependencies. Second, a new spatio-temporal correlation modeling method is proposed to fully leverage large-scale spatial and temporal traffic patterns using temporal convolutional networks integrated with a gated multi-modality mechanism. Then, for external factors' representation, a new dual-gated Res-Net multi-modality-based module is proposed. Finally, we fuse these representations of multi-components dynamically and utilize the transformer model, which is conducive to learning intersections among these multiple factors for obtaining accurate prediction results. Experiments on two large-scale real-world traffic datasets from two different urban regions (Chengdu taxi-datsets and NYC-Bike datasets) demonstrate that the proposed model is superior to state-of-the-art baseline models. "Gutter oil" is a term for the practice of recycling used waste oil from restaurant fryers, sinks, and even slaughterhouses and sewers, and has been a major food safety and sanitation issue in China for many years. However, with proper treatment, these issues can be mitigated, turning large amounts of waste product into valuable resources and conserving energy resources. Based on this questionnaire survey conducted in the cities of Chengdu and Mianyang in Sichuan, China, this paper uses the value evaluation method to measure urban residents' willingness to pay for the treatment of gutter oil, and explores the factors and path influencing residents' willingness to pay based on the extended theory of planned behavior. The results of this study affirms the validity and universality of the Theory of Planned Behavior. Behavioral attitude, perceived behavioral control, and subjective norms have a direct positive impact on their willingness to pay. Risk perception and past experience indirectly affect residents' willingness to pay for gutter oil through the intermediary variable of behavioral attitude, which means that the public's risk awareness can be improved by vigorously publicizing the harmful effects of gutter oil, thereby also increasing acceptance toward gutter oil treatment. As an intermediary variable, subjective norms have a significant indirect effect on the impact path of past experience on willingness to pay, which reflects the significant influence of subjective norms such as reference group and environment. Bronchopneumonia is the most common infectious disease in children, and it seriously endangers children's health. In this paper, a deep neural network combining long short-term memory (LSTM) layers and fully connected layers was proposed to predict the prevalence of bronchopneumonia in children in Chengdu based on environmental factors and previous prevalence rates. The mean square error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and Pearson correlation coefficient (R) were used to detect the performance of the deep learning model. The values of MSE, MAE, and R in the test dataset are 0.0051, 0.053, and 0.846, respectively. The results show that the proposed model can accurately predict the prevalence of bronchopneumonia in children. We also compared the proposed model with three other models, namely, a fully connected (FC) layer neural network, a random forest model, and a support vector machine. This paper examines how the government harnesses the development of social enterprises. Drawing on an in-depth qualitative study in Chengdu City, China, we find that institution building, financial supporting, incubation developing, systematical cultivating and resource matchmaking are the main strategies employed by the municipal government to promote the development of social enterprises, whereupon we argue that besides the role as referee and sponsor which are the governments' traditional roles in western countries, the government in China also play a role of coach in harnessing the development of social enterprises. This paper contributes to the literature by theorizing how administrative forces affect the growth of hybrid organizations and also contributes to providing empirical evidence of the institutional environment of social enterprises in China. This paper investigates the stochastic on time arrival (SOTA) problem in Gaussian process (GP) regulated environments. We presume that the travel times of the underlying transportation network follow a multi-variate Gaussian distribution, i.e. Gaussian process, and propose a Gaussian process proactive path planner (GP4), which outputs a dynamic routing policy for maximizing the traveller's on-time-arrival probability. When given an instantiated travel time of a certain link, GP is able to analytically represent/predict the posterior travel time distribution over the entire transportation network. With that, we let the ego vehicle ‘proactively’ select the next traversal link, which maximizes the expected stochastic on time arrival probability based on the predicted posterior travel time distribution. Various extensions of GP4 to other forms of travel time distribution assumptions, such as Log-GP and Bi-GP, are proposed and extensive experimental results demonstrate the efficiency and applicability of GP4 to various transportation networks, including a real use case with real traffic data in Chengdu, China. China Earthquake Parameter Zoning (2016) has increased the seismic fortification intensity in Chengdu from VII to VIII. It is necessary to conduct in-depth discussion on the impact of the seismic performance of the built underground station structure. In this paper, a stratum-structure finite element model is established with a Chengdu subway station as an example. The model boundary adopts viscoelastic boundary, and the ground motion is input in the form of equivalent nodal force. The equivalent linearization method is used to consider the nonlinearity of soil materials. The time-history analysis of seismic fortification intensity of VII and VIII degrees is carried out, respectively. By comparing the calculation results of the two seismic fortification intensity ground motion conditions, it is concluded that the connection between the side wall and the floor is the weakest position of the station structure under the action of the earthquake; the seismic fortification intensity is increased from VII to VIII to the internal force of the structure. It has a relatively large impact, especially the most obvious impact on the bending moment. The results of the verification of the seismic time-history analysis show that the increase of fortification intensity will have a more obvious impact on the structural deformation, and the structural design of the station can meet the safety performance requirements of VII and VIII degrees of seismic fortification. According to the problems of lack of planning and disordered layout of rural settlements in China, it is urgent to further improve the methods of optimizing the settlement pattern of towns and villages and the intensive use of land. The main purpose of this paper is to optimize the layout of rural settlements with a single land-use type and a large number of rural settlements to be relocated. This paper takes the Linpan settlements of Deyuan Town, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province as the research object and establishes the suitability evaluation system of Linpan settlements by the Entropy method. The Linpan settlements of research area are divided into the central and the non-central Linpan settlements and determine the search threshold according to the point pattern analysis method and multi-distance spatial cluster analysis. Through the study of regional preliminary central Linpan settlement selection and search threshold determination, central Linpan settlement site selection, the determination of non-central Linpan settlement's migration direction, the results show that the radiation coverage rate of the central Linpan increased by 17.3%, the number of repeated radiation Linpans decreased by 63.2%, the overlapping area decreased by 49.9%, and finally 179 Linpans were optimized and merged into 36 central Linpans. The influence of large-scale unloading of soil on existing metro tunnels is a difficult problem in the operation of Metro in sandy gravel strata. In order to predict and control the tunnel deformation and ensure the safety and normal operation of the metro, three-dimensional numerical models are proposed in this study. These models based on the line 5 of Chengdu subway engineering and the adjacent unloading projects analyze the deformation of existing metro tunnels under large-scale unloading of soil. The results show that the maximum bulge after unloading excavation of foundation pit is 11.1 mm, which is lower than the limit value of foundation pit uplift proved by relevant studies; the maximum deformation value of left tunnel is 9.56 mm, and that of right tunnel is 8.33 mm, which is less than the proposed 10 mm deformation control standard. In addition, the paper analyses the restraining effect of different reinforcement measures on soil deformation, such as advanced tubal curtains and horizontal beams, anti-floating anchor cables. The results show that the deformation of soil under different reinforcement measures is greater than the specified limits, while the comprehensive reinforcement measures can restrain the deformation of soil well. The numerical simulation results in this paper verify the effective reinforcement of comprehensive reinforcement measures for large-scale unloading in sandy gravel strata, which can provide reference experience for large-scale unloading excavation construction in similar sandy gravel strata. Both academics and policymakers regard publicly planned logistics nodes (PPLN) as a potential measure to promote logistics agglomeration and mitigate environmental damage caused by logistics activities. However, such measure may lead to non-linear carbon emission effect from the perspective of agglomeration economy, and empirical evidences are yet to be found to verify this inference. This paper uses DID method and mediating effect models to explore the effects and mechanisms of PPLN on CO2 emissions with panel data from 2000 to 2017 in Chengdu, China. Our findings show that PPLN promotes the agglomeration of both small and large-scale logistics enterprises and increases carbon emissions. In addition, the agglomeration of large-scale logistics enterprises can reduce carbon emissions; the opposite is true for smaller ones. Despite the continuous diminishing of the carbon emission increase, the emission-reduction effect has not been achieved through PPLN operations. Based on the results, the study recommends that the government should appropriately determine the location and scale of PPLN, advocate green construction and industrial upgrading, and adopt differentiated regulatory and incentive measures for enterprises. Increases in the area of impervious surfaces have occurred with urbanization. Such surfaces are an important indicator of urban expansion and the natural environment. The automatic extraction of impervious surface data can provide useful information for urban and regional management and planning and can contribute to the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11—Sustainable Cities and Communities. This paper uses Google Earth Engine (GEE) high-resolution remote sensing images and OpenStreetMap (OSM) data for Chengdu, a typical city in China, to establish an impervious surface dataset for deep learning. To improve the extraction accuracy, the Small Attention Hybrid Unet (SAH-Unet) model is proposed. It is based on the Unet architecture but with attention modules and a multi-scale feature fusion mechanism. Finally, depthwise-separable convolutions are used to reduce the number of model parameters. The results show that, compared with other classical semantic segmentation networks, the SAH-Unet network has superior precision and accuracy. Traffic flow prediction is an important and challenging task in building smart city. Accurate forecasting requires consideration of spatio-temporal characteristics consisting of multiple influences such as holiday, similar node, and weather. In order to accurately capture the spatio-temporal characteristics of road network intersections, this paper proposed a prediction model based on graph convolutional neural network, temporal algorithm Prophet and Pearson correlation coefficient to achieve accurate prediction of intersection traffic considering spatial structure, similar nodes, holidays and other influencing factors. Firstly, it introduced pearson correlation coefficient to reduce the influence of similar nodes to improve the temporal algorithm for capturing temporal features. Secondly, it used the graph convolution neural network to capture spatial features; Finally, it determined the fusion weights of the graph convolutional network and the temporal algorithm by linear regression to obtain the results of spatio-temporal fusion prediction. This paper finally extracted the intersection traffic data based on the analysis of Chengdu taxi trajectory data and conducted traffic prediction experiments. The results show that the accuracy of the model proposed in this paper is better than that of most existing baseline methods, compared with the T-GCN, ASTGCN, and AGCRN models, the MAE is reduced by 1.623, 0.724, 0.161, respectively, and the accuracy is improved by 0. 144, 0. 068, and 0. 021, respectively, which verifies the effectiveness of the model in traffic intersection flow prediction. Due to the rapid renovations of historical districts in the context of consumer society, contributing to the loss of city culture and identity, this paper describes the methodological study of the local schema concept on the renovations of architectural design, utilizing speculative design as opposed to inertial design. This case analysis focuses on Huaxing Street in Chengdu, China. By performing field surveys, photographing structures, and sending questionnaires to local inhabitants, an evaluation of Huaxing Street's current status and obstacles is conducted. The conclusion of the study summarizes the audience's satisfaction with the usage status of different renovated structures. On the basis of the idea of local schema, a spatial translation approach for architectural prototypes is given. This research explores the design methods of historical architecture in the area, history, and memory in an effort to provide guidelines for the renovation of structures in comparable historical districts. To accomplish this, prototypes for architectural installations are selected, design elements are divided, and a three-dimensional model is utilized to form a schematic replication of the building. Urban parks have significant cooling effects, which can both mitigate the urban heat is-land effect and are crucial to the sustainable development of the human habitat. Although studies have been conducted to explore the influence of urban park morphology on the cooling effect of parks, they are not sufficiently in depth. Therefore, this paper took 117 urban parks in the central city of Chengdu as the research objects based on the perspective of the quantitative classification of urban park morphology. Then, remote sensing interpretation, spatial statistics, and regression analysis were used, and the four indicators of cooling intensity, cooling distance, cooling area, and cooling efficiency of urban parks were integrated to explore the cooling effect of the different morphological types of urban parks. The results show that (1) urban parks in Chengdu could be divided into five categories, among which the cooling effect of round parks was the best, and the cooling efficiency was 0.7. (2) In terms of park cooling area, urban parks' area and perimeter thresholds were 30 ha and 4000 m, respectively. (3) When the area and perimeter of urban parks reached 70 ha and 3000 m, respectively, the increase in the cooling distance slowed down. (4) The cooling efficiency of the park was best when the shape index (indicating the complexity of the park boundaries) of the urban park was 2.8. The results of the study provide theoretical support for the intensive use of urban park green space and help the construction and promotion of a beautiful and livable park city in Chengdu. One of the most important archaeological finds excavated from the Tianhui Laoguanshan Han tombs in 2012–13 was a manuscript on horse medicine, dated around the third century BCE. Prior to the discovery of this highly specialized veterinary text, only a handful of horse recipes from the Qin and Han periods had been found, and a sixth-century CE agricultural treatise, Essential Techniques for the Common People , was generally regarded as the earliest surviving source of extensive veterinary material, including various medical treatments for horses. Although the Laoguanshan manuscript – given the modern title Book of Treating Horses by the Team for Collating the Medical Bamboo Slips Excavated from the Han Tombs in Tianhui Town, Chengdu – has suffered significant damage, it nevertheless gives us an insight into the knowledge and treatments for horses during the Qin and early Han periods. A variety of ways of treating horses are recorded in Treating Horses , including herbal remedies, piercing, cauterization, hot packs, bandages, massage, and bathing. The use of gold needles is also mentioned in this text, echoing the gold and silver sewing needles excavated from Liu Sheng's (d. 113 BCE) tomb in Mancheng, Hebei Province. This paper offers a short introduction to this valuable text on horse medicine by examining the content of its fragments, including names of ailments, symptoms of certain diseases, etiologies, and treatment methods. The discovery of Treating Horses challenges the established view that horse treatment methods in ancient China were predominantly herbal and that techniques of bleeding and cauterization recorded in Essential Techniques were brought to China from elsewhere, together with the introduction of Buddhism. The paper argues that the "foreign influence" had already occurred at a much earlier date, in the form of interactions with nomadic tribes such as the Scythians, the horsemen par excellence of classical antiquity.
