This research aims to analyze the concept and implementation of temporary waqf by Law Number 41 of 2004 and evaluate the experience of the Darul Waqf Al-Hadiy Foundation in managing such waqf. The research method used is qualitative with an Empirical Law type, involving data collection through interviews and observations and qualitative descriptive analysis of primary and secondary data. The research results indicate that based on Law Number 41 of 2004, temporary waqf is permitted and regulated. However, implementing temporary waqf at the Darul Waqf Al-Hadiy Foundation faces various challenges, including difficulties in creating sustainable programs, high rehabilitation costs, and administrative complexity. Although temporary waqf provides significant benefits for Islamic religious education and the welfare of the local community, its management requires better education and improved competency for nazhir. More effective and sustainable waqf management can be achieved if the nazir has adequate experience and capabilities

Purpose This study explored the three roles of Makassar in advancing the archipelago's spice routes: port growth arrangement, maritime policy, and maritime trade management in the XVI—XVII centuries. Method This study used historical research methods including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The sources of data used were local sources (lontara) and foreign sources (Portuguese, Dutch, and English) to answer the three problems mentioned above by placing Makassar as the subject of the Nusantara spice route. Results/Findings The results of the study are: 1) the port growth arrangement the Makassar authorities did was by responding to the global trade dynamics around the spice route, such as focusing on structuring its ports as the centre of the Maluku spice trade. Second, maritime policy was implemented through free ports and the principle of Mare Liberum to advance Makassar to become an entrepot and a cosmopolitan world city. Third, the codification of Ammana Gappa's shipping and trade laws in Makassar further strengthens the maritime identity of the Makassarese, Bugis, and Mandar people in building the spice route of the Archipelago. Conclusion Starting from the perspective of the archipelago as a subject, this study shows the role of Makassar in promoting the spice route. Studies like this can also be developed at other ports on the spice route, thereby strengthening the archipelago's contribution to the history of the world's spice routes.

The SOFC simulations in this research are conducted at temperatures of 600°C, 700°C, and 800°C, focusing on the Ni-SDC anode, SDC electrolyte, and LSCF-SDC materials used in the SOFC single cell. Initially, the single-cell model is created using CAD software, followed by the development of a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model with the requisite material properties. The study then proceeds to simulate temperature distribution and cell performance for various supported SOFC stack models (electrode and electrolyte supported) at intermediate temperatures. Subsequently, the study examines cell performance with varying thicknesses of the anode, electrolyte, and cathode components within the specific supported single cell. In summary, the CFD results indicate that cathode-supported SOFCs exhibit higher power density, specifically 938.28 mW/cm2 at 800°C, surpassing anode-supported and electrolyte-supported configurations. The power density reaches 1495.40 mW/cm2 when the single-cell layer thickness is 0.35 mm for the cathode, 0.02 mm for the anode, and 0.01 mm for the electrolyte. However, electrolyte-supported single cells display the lowest temperature difference, at 0.028% at 800oC The simulation results demonstrate that reducing the thicknesses of all electrodes and the electrolyte leads to increased current density, power density, and temperature distribution difference.

Activities during dispensing process is vital in reducing antihypertensive and analgesics waste. However, study looking into refusal to accept cardiovascular disorders (CVD) medicines or analgesics activities during dispensing process is lacking. To determine differences in factors and costs associated with refused CVD medicines or analgesics during dispensing process This study was approved by Medical Research and Ethics Committee (MREC) (Registration number: NMRR-20-177-53153(IIR)). Participants receiving CVD medicines or analgesics during dispensing process were recruited via convenience sampling technique between February and March 2020 at the Outpatient Pharmacy Department of Jerantut Hospital, Malaysia. Refusal to medications and its reasons were asked based on the questionnaire developed by the researchers. Overall, 175 patients participated in this survey and CVD drugs contributed toward 58.9% of the refused medicines. Those who refused CVD drugs and analgesics were significantly different in terms of gender, medications dosing frequency, refusal reasons namely side effects, medications use, intentionally skipping dose and skipping the dose when feeling well. No associations were found between forgetfulness and age with refusal to CVD drugs or analgesics. Those who refused CVD medicines had a significantly higher total daily medicines, total daily pill burden, and total number of medicines refused per prescription compared to those who refused analgesics. Cost of CVD medicines refused per prescription was significantly higher compared to analgesics, median United States Dollar (USD) 2.58 (IQR, USD 3.69) versus median USD 1.47 (IQR, USD 3.69), P=0.01. Refusal to CVD medicines and analgesics was associated with several medication’s and patient’s factors. However, higher cost of refused medication was observed for CVD medicines.

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific disorder characterized by the presence of hypertension with the onset of either proteinuria, maternal organ or uteroplacental dysfunction. Preeclampsia is one of the leading causes of maternal and fetal mortality and morbidity worldwide. However, the etiopathologies of preeclampsia are not fully understood. Many studies have indicated that genes are differentially expressed between normal and in the disease state. Hence, this study systematically searched the literature on human gene expression that was differentially expressed in preeclampsia. An electronic search was performed through 2019 through PubMed, Scopus, Ovid-Medline, and Gene Expression Omnibus where the following MeSH (Medical Subject Heading) terms were used and they had been specified as the primary focus of the articles: Gene, placenta, preeclampsia, and pregnancy in the title or abstract. We also found additional MeSH terms through Cochrane Library: Transcript, sequencing, and profiling. From 687 studies retrieved from the search, only original publications that had performed high throughput sequencing of human placental tissues that reported on differentially expressed genes in pregnancies with preeclampsia were included. Two reviewers independently scrutinized the titles and abstracts before examining the eligibility of studies that met the inclusion criteria. For each study, study design, sample size, sampling type, and method for gene analysis and gene were identified. The genes listed were further analyzed with the DAVID, STRING and Cytoscape MCODE. Three original research articles involving preeclampsia comprising the datasets in gene expression were included. By combining three studies together, 250 differentially expressed genes were produced at a significance setting of p < 0.05. We identified candidate genes: LEP, NRIP1, SASH1, and ZADHHC8P1. Through GO analysis, we found extracellular matrix organization as the highly significant enriched ontology in a group of upregulated genes and immune process in downregulated genes. Studies on a genetic level have the potential to provide new insights into the regulation and to widen the basis for identification of changes in the mechanism of preeclampsia. Integrated bioinformatics could identify differentially expressed genes which could be candidate genes and potential pathways in preeclampsia that may improve our understanding of the cause and underlying molecular mechanisms that could be used as potential biomarkers for risk stratification and treatment.

The detailed scan revealed conjoined twins from thorax up to the cord insertion, sharing a heart and liver. On postmortem the cardiac findings corresponded to the scan findings of single chamber system with incomplete atrioventricular septum within both hearts with presence of all branches of the outflow tracts for each. Despite advanced gestation, ultrasound findings are relatively accurate to counsel patients on management and prognosis especially when financial constraints limit the option of other imaging modalities. Introduction: Lymphoma of parapharyngeal space (PPS) is a rare condition. The clinical presentations may vary and often masquerades as infection or an inflammatory condition. A misdiagnosis will lead to a delay in treatment of the disease. Due to the complex anatomy of PPS, any attributed pressure from masses can lead to a life-threatening event such as cardiac syncope., Case Report: We report a rare case of PPS B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma with superimposed Tuberculosis (TB) and fungal infection that presents with several episodes of syncope and hemodynamic depression., Discussion: The clinical entities in PPS lesions syncope and its associated syndromes, pathophysiology, and differential diagnosis together with possible managements are further discussed.

Little is known on the knowledge, attitudes and preventive practices (KAP) of leptospirosis worldwide. This study embarked on assessing the KAP of leptospirosis among rural communities in Malaysia. A total of 444 participants (223 male; 221 female) aged between 18 and 81 years old were surveyed by using a self-administered questionnaire. A majority of participants had poor knowledge level (57.0%), unacceptable attitudes (90.3%) and unacceptable preventive practices (69.1%) on leptospirosis, and only 29.7% knew "rat-urine disease" as leptospirosis. Only 34.2% of the participants knew the bacteria could enter via wound lesions. Ethnicity and income were strongly associated with knowledge level and preventive practices, respectively ( p -values < 0.05). As for attitudes, ethnicity, income and education type were significantly associated ( p -values < 0.05). Only 36.5% of the participants were willing to see a doctor and did not mind if their house or surrounding area is dirty (59.7%). Surprisingly, only 32.9% had used rubber boots during floods. By logistic regression analysis, ethnicity was the only significant predictor for both knowledge level (an odds ratio (AOR) = 0.39, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.222-0.680) and preventive practices (AOR = 1.81, 95% CI = 1.204-2.734). Ethnicity (AOR = 0.40, 95% CI = 0.239-0.665), income (AOR = 1.58, 95% CI = 1.041-2.385) and education type (AOR = 3.69, 95% CI = 1.237-10.986) were strong predictors for attitudes. Among the KAP variables, attitude (AOR = 4.357, 95% CI = 2.613-7.264) was the only predictor for the preventive practices by logistic regression analysis. The KAP elements on leptospirosis are still lacking and poor health seeking behavior and attitudes are of our utmost concern. Thus, effective strategies should be planned to impart knowledge, and develop proactive approaches and good preventive modules on leptospirosis to this leptospirosis-prone community., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflict of interest.
