Aim: To determine the aerobic capacity of generalized myasthenia gravis (MG) cases and to explore the effect of aerobic exercise on maximum aerobic capacity, fatigue level, kinesiophobia, and disease severity parameters. Materials and Methods: The seropositive-confirmed generalized MG cases who were between the ages of 18 and 80 years and between 2-4 stages, at the same time hospitalized in the physical therapy and rehabilitation clinic for three weeks were included in this study. Outcome measures of the 6-minute walk test (6MWT), the ergospirometric cardiopulmonary stress test (ETT), the multidimensional fatigue scale (MFS), the Quantitative Myasthenia Gravis Score (QMG) and, the Tampa kinesophobia scale (TKS) were evaluated at admission and discharge. Results: A negative correlation between VO2 max and kinesophobia and fatigue (p= 0.020, r= -0.750; p= 0.031, r= -0.714, respectively) was determined, while a positive correlation was recorded between VO2 max and 6-MWT (r= 0.783 p= 0.013). Conclusion: Intermittent aerobic exercise programs can be safely administered under supervision in generalized MG patients. The functional capacity of the patients increased, fatigue and fear of movement decreased. Objective: The aim of study was to evaluate the use of ultrasonography in clinical anesthesia and its role in clinical practice among anesthetists through a questionnaire survey. Methods: The study was approved by the independent ethics committee. The questions in the survey forms were directed to 146 anesthesiologists by face- to- face interviews or by e-mail.Their attitudes towards clinical ultrasonography were evaluated with a 5-point type Likert scale. Results: The mean age of the participants was 38.45±9.49 years, and study population consisted of research workers (28%) and specialists (72%); while 53.79% of them were employed in the educational research, 21.38 in the state, 16.55% in the university and 8.28% in the private hospitals.. Research workers used ultrasonography more frequently in both regional and clinical anesthesia interventions compared to specialists (p=0.008). As compared to specialists, research workers thought that their residency training is sufficient for ultrasonography use. There was no difference between physicians in terms of the need for an additional course. The majority of participants thought that use of ultrasonography contributes to clinical practice. Clinical ultrasonography is mostly (97.3%) preferred in central venous interventions. Conclusion: Ultrasonography is frequently used in the detection and treatment of perioperative clinical problems as well as regional methods. In our study, the use of ultrasonography in the field of regional and clinical anesthesia was more preferred among the research workers who were continuing their residency training compared to the specialist physicians. Background: A major problem of the coronavirus pandemic is the increase of patients requiring intensive care unit (ICU) sup-port in an extremely limited period of time. As a result, most countries have prioritized coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) care in ICUs and take new arrangements to increase hospital capacity in emergency department and ICUs. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in the number, clinical and demographic characteristics of patients hospitalized in non-COVID ICUs during the COVID-19 pandemic period compared to the previous year (pre-pandemic period), and to reveal the effects of the pandemic., Methods: Hospitalized patients in non-COVID ICUs of our hospital between 11 March 2019 and 11 March 2021 were included in the study. The patients were divided into two groups according to date of the start of the COVID period. Patient data were scanned and recorded retrospectively from hospital information system and ICU assessment forms. Information regarding demographics (age and gender), comorbidities, COVID 19 polymerase chain reaction result, place of ICU admission, the diagnoses of patients admitted to ICU, length of ICU stay, Glasgow coma scale and mortality rates, and the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II score were collected., Results: A total of 2292 patients were analyzed, including 1011 patients (413 women and 598 men) in the pre-pandemic period (Group 1) and 1281 patients (572 women and 709 men) in the pandemic period (Group 2). When the diagnoses of patients admitted to ICU were compared between the groups, there was a statistically significant difference between post-operation, return of spon-taneous circulation, intoxication, multitrauma, and other reasons. In the pandemic period, the patients had a statistically significant longer length of ICU stay., Conclusion: Changes were observed in the clinical and demographic characteristics of patients hospitalized in non-COVID-19 ICUs. We observed that the length of ICU stay of the patients increased during the pandemic period. Due to this situation, we think that intensive care and other inpatient services should be managed more effectively during the pandemic.
