Abstract

El paciente crítico tiene una pérdida de masa muscular significativa, observando frecuentemente sarcopenia en estos pacientes. Su presencia aumenta los desenlaces adversos, estancias hospitalarias, mayor riesgo de infecciones, aumento del tiempo de asistencia ventilatoria mecánica, mayor discapacidad al alta hospitalaria, menor posibilidad del retorno normal a la vida habitual de los pacientes, incremento en gastos en salud y mayor mortalidad. Objetivo: Indicar el uso oportuno y adecuado de la proteína en el paciente crítico. Métodos: la Asociación Colombiana De Nutrición Clínica (ACNC) y la Asociación Colombiana de Medicina Critica y Cuidados Intensivos (AMCI) mediante metodología de consenso realizaron unas recomendaciones con un grupo de expertos. Resultados: 46 recomendaciones fueron aprobadas con consenso superior al 80%. Conclusiones: La intervención óptima proteica temprana y progresiva en el paciente crítico, es importante para obtener los mejores desenlaces clínicos, disminuir complicaciones e impactar en costos de atención hospitalaria.

6. Ultrasound findings in case series of patients with primary cutaneous CD4+ small/medium T‐cell lymphoproliferative disorder.

Abstract

This article discusses a case series of patients with primary cutaneous CD4+ small/medium T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder (PCS-TCLPD) and describes the ultrasound findings of these patients. PCS-TCLPD is a skin disease characterized by the proliferation of T cells with a follicular T-helper phenotype. The clinical appearance of PCS-TCLPD is unspecific, with slow-growing erythematous or violaceous lesions. The study found that PCS-TCLPD has specific sonography patterns, including hypoechoic heterogeneous nodules and hypervascularity. However, further studies with larger sample sizes are needed to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article]

B Introduction: b Several new therapeutic agents have been introduced in recent years for the treatment of relapsed/refractory (r/r) aggressive B cell lymphoma (ABCL) (diffuse large B cell lymphoma [DLBCL] and high-grade B cell lymphomas [HGBCL]), such as new monoclonal antibodies (MA), bispecific antibodies (BA) and CAR-T cell therapy. From 354 patients that received >2 lines of treatment, 130 (37%) received CAR-T cell therapy, 69 (19%) pola-based, 5 (1%) TL, 55 (15%) BA, and 299 (84 %) did not receive NTs. Abstract

The electronic stability of (001) and (110) surfaces of La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 (LCMO) capped with nanometric SrTiO3 (STO) layers in epitaxial heterostructures is addressed by (S)TEM electron energy loss spectroscopy. It is found that growth of STO on (001)LCMO promotes a significant electron doping of LCMO that extends a few nanometers deep into the film. In contrast, (110)LCMO appears to be electronically more robust and no electronic reordering has been observed. These results are in clear correlation with the distinct magnetic properties observed in those interfaces and illustrate that complex chemical phenomena take place at interfaces among multivalent oxides. 45. Prevalence of Strongylida nematodes associated with African Snail, Achatina fulica, in Valle del Cauca, Colombia.

Abstract

Objectives. To establish the presence and prevalence of Strongylida nematode parasites in Achatina fulica in the Valle del Cauca, especially of nematodes that are potentially pathogenic for humans. Materials and methods. A. fulica individuals were collected in nine cities of the Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Direct visual examination was used to identify A. fulica parasites. Nematodes were separated from tissue or collected from mucus, washed in saline solution, and fixed in a hot AFA solution. Samples were mounted in glycerine and observed under the microscope. Results. The general nematode parasite prevalence was 35% in 2013. The city with highest prevalence during 2013 was Cartago (60%), following by Buenaventura (42.9%) and Cali (33%), while during 2014 were Cali (30%) and Buenaventura (30%). The Strongylida nematodes registered were classified in three genera: Angiostrongylus (14.7% prevalence), Aelurostrongylus (2.6%),and Strongyluris (2.6%). The city with highest positive records of Angiostrongylus was Cali during 2014 and Aelurostrongylus was Buenaventura during 2013. Strongyluris genus was recorded only in Cali during 2013, with a prevalence of 11%. Of the nine evaluated cities, five has presence of Angiostrongylus. Conclusions. Three genera of Strongylida nematode were recorded associated with A. fulicas specimens in the Valle del Cauca during 2013 and 2014. Therefore, the role that A. fulica and native mollusk species could be playing in the life cycle of these parasites at the local level should not underestimated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The microscopic mechanism behind the all optical switching (AOS) in ferromagnets has triggered intense scientific debate. Here, the microscopic three-temperature model is utilized to describe AOS in a perpendicularly magnetized ferromagnetic Co/Pt system. We demonstrate that AOS in such a ferromagnet can be explained with the Inverse Faraday Effect (IFE). The influence of the strength and lifetime of the IFE induced field pulse on the switching process are investigated. We found that because of strong spin-orbit coupling, the minimal lifetime of the IFE needed to obtain switching is of the order of 0.1 ps, which is shorter than previously assumed. Moreover, spatial images of the domain pattern after AOS in Co/Pt, as well as their dependence on applying an opposite magnetic field, are qualitatively reproduced. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
