En las últimas décadas los modelos productivos territoriales son objeto de debate científico por parte de los investigadores. Sin embargo, se observa una ausencia de trabajos previos de revisión bibliográfica. Para llenar este vacío hemos realizado un análisis de contenido entre 1998 y 2008, en las principales revistas científicas españolas de Economía. Se ha obtenido una base de 98 trabajos, estudiando la evolución de su carácter científico, los grupos de investigación y/o universidades, las líneas de investigación y la metodología empleada. Esto permite conocer el nivel de desarrollo de estos campos y proponer líneas de investigación futuras.

New challenges facing society and universities, such as the effects of climate change or the increasing levels of interconnectedness and digitisation, are changing the way we understand common spaces and teaching methods. New paradigms such as smart campuses are becoming increasingly popular in response to these new needs. This work has sought to shed light on some of the research gaps that still exist in this area of study, focusing on how the university community perceives this new model of university. Based on the information gathered from a sample of 405 members of the university community of the Alcoy Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain, the results obtained in this research reveal a significant interest in the smart campus paradigm, albeit uneven among the different groups of university members. In addition, respondents showed a greater preference for strategies linked to the smart axes of Welfare, Environment and Education, Innovation and Research than for those based on purely technological aspects. In a new scenario in which globalization has produced a change in the economic contexts of industrial clusters, typically formed by SMEs, the aim of this article is to clarify the role played by universities in the transmission of information and knowledge. In order to do so, we will focus on one of the clusters most affected by the effect of globalization, the Spanish textile cluster, and compare it with another Spanish cluster with higher technological levels. To achieve our goal, we have used Social Network Analysis techniques to analyse the role that two Spanish universities play in their corresponding local industrial clusters. The results offer evidence of the importance of universities, especially when knowledge exchanges are involved, in the clusters that were analysed, regardless of their differences in terms of technological requirements. A sense of belonging is a crucial factor determining the identification of the firms in industrial districts. From the social capital perspective, this paper analyses how the structural and relational dimensions of social capital determine a firm's sense of belonging to the industrial district. The study analyses a sample of 213 companies belonging to two Spanish industrial districts. Results of the survey offer an important contribution to the specific literature by finding the explanatory factors with which to distinguish between groups according to their level of embeddedness in the district. The aim of this work is to help gain a better understanding of the research conducted on territorial agglomerations of firms at a multidisciplinary level. To this end, an analysis was performed of the contents of the most significant scientific literature on economics, management, planning and development, urban studies and geography published over the period 1997–2006. From the results, a database of 142 papers from 43 journals was then elaborated. An analysis of these works reveals the level of development of the main lines of research in this field and, consequently, makes it possible to detect the topics that require greater attention and that can be the object of future research for researchers and academics. The main conclusions include the growing number of studies conducted on the subject in recent years, as well as a greater predominance of empirical research over conceptual work, and the existence of a significant change in the topics or lines of research throughout the period under study. Exposito-Langa M., Molina-Morales F. X. and Capo-Vicedo J. New product development and absorptive capacity in industrial districts: a multidimensional approach, Regional Studies. This research studies to what extent the absorptive capacity of a firm influences its capacity to exploit new opportunities through new products, particularly in a specific context of industrial districts. A multidimensional approach to the absorptive capacity concept is used to distinguish between identification, assimilation, and exploitation of external knowledge. The population of companies belonging to a Spanish textile district is studied. Findings suggest that information and knowledge that a company receives from external sources provide the company with the necessary abilities to innovate. In diesem Beitrag untersuchen wir, in welchem Ausmass sich insbesondere im spezifischen Kontext der Industriebezirke die absorptive Kapazitat einer Firma auf ihre Kapazitat auswirkt, neue Gelegenheiten durch neue Produkte zu nutzen. Utilizamos una aproximacion multidimensional para el concepto de la capacidad de absorcion con el objeto de distinguir entre la identificacion, asimilacion y explotacion de conocimiento. Hemos trabajado con empresas pertenecientes al distrito industrial textil espanol. Los resultados sugieren que las externalidades que la empresa recibe en forma de informacion y conocimiento de su entorno, junto a las habilidades internas necesarias, benefician su proceso de innovacion. The article examines the proposed methodology for creating interorganizational networks in territorial clusters. The proposed methodology failed to provide an analysis on the relationships between companies and external and internal agents of the territory which they are located, with regards to competitive advantages. The analysis of the proposed methodology has also complemented to the traditional structural analyses of a sector.
