A demonstration showing that the bis(triphenylphosphine)immium (PPN) manganese carbonyls and more interestingly the off-the-shelf reagent PPN(super +)Cl(super -) are good catalysts for the coupling reactions of CO2 with epoxides to yield cyclic carbonates is presented. The reactions are clean with no polycarbonate contamination and are performed in neat substrates with no need of organic solvents.

The general examples of palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-type cross-coupling of aryl and heteroaryl mesylates with potassium aryl and heteroaryltrifluoroborates are described. The studies have shown that along with biaryl couplings the cross-coupling reactions of aryl mesylates with alkyl and vinyltrifluoroborate salts are also achieved.

A simple one-pot assembly of the commercially available starting materials such as indoles, acid chlorides, and chlorophosphines were used to prepare a new class of indolylphosphine ligands. The ligand obtained with high diversification could be used for palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction of aryl chlorides with arylboronic acids.

The application and reactivity of a family of indolyl phosphine ligands to Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of aryl tosylates is described. The highly active system could also be adapted for other boron nucleophiles, including trifluloroborate salts and boronate esters.

This study describes the efficacy of benzimidazolyl phosphine ligands, which are easily synthesized from inexpensive and commercially available o-phenylenediamine, 2-bormobenzoic acid, and chlorophosphines, in the Buchwald-Hartwig amination of aryl chlorides. Primary and secondary aromatic/aliphatic amines are effective substrates in this catalytic system. Functional groups such as keto and esters are also compatible. This study describes a new class of easily accessible indolyl phosphine ligands, prepared via an efficient protocol involving Fischer indolization from readily available phenylhydrazine and substituted acetophenones. This versatile ligand scaffold provides beneficial features, including high potential of steric and electronic tunability. The air-stable indolyl phosphines in combination with a palladium metal precursor provide highly effective catalysts for Suzuki−Miyaura coupling of unactivated aryl chlorides, and the catalyst loading down to 0.02 mol % can be achieved.
