Utilization of inorganic waste, if included in composite material, can be beneficial in reducing the accumulation of waste, which could help in resolving problems of disposal. beside from that, incorporating waste into composite materials also reduces the overall cost of the composites as a whole. The study examines the impact of dolomite content on the mechanical properties of the composites. Increasing the amount of dolomite in the composite significantly weakens its flexural strength, falling from 42.4 MPa at 0 % dolomite to 28.7 MPa at 15 % dolomite. Composite tensile strength also decreases by up to 25.8 % with rising dolomite dust concentration. Additionally, dolomite increases interlaminar shear strength (ILSS), with EDH15 composites showing the highest improvement. Dolomite dust in epoxy‐based composites increases the hardness value from 85 HRL to 95 HRL with an increase in dolomite dust content. The erosion test perform on air jet tester shows lowest wear rate was achieved under the following conditions: 10 % dolomite dust weight, 30° impingement angle, 10 m s−1 impact velocity, and 150 μm erodent size. In this study, a facile hybridization of sisal/coconut palm reinforced epoxy composite, is presented. The fabrication method involved the use of hand layup techniques. The results of the fabricated composites were investigated by using the universal testing machine, hardness testing machine, scanning electron microscope, and an impact testing machine. In order to obtain optimize results for the tensile, flexural, and impact strengths of the fabricated samples, the fabrication procedures involved varying the volume fractions of sisal and coconut palm hybrid with different compositions. The maximum tensile, flexural, and impact strengths measured for the fabricated fiber/polymer composite, are: 45 MPa, 90 MPa, and 38.9 kJ/m2. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDS) of the composites showed that the composites with equal volume fractions of sisal and coconut palm fiber exhibited better performance and better mechanical properties. Furthermore, the improved mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength, flexural strength and impact strength were obtained with fibers of longer length. By considering the excellent mechanical properties of the fabricated composite, it is envisaged that the composite be suitable for the manufacturing of helmet, automobile and train coach interiors. In this paper, the double‐element composites were developed, which contained the epoxy resin as matrix phase and carbon black rubber powder as toughening materials. Quasi‐static compression tests on epoxy resin and different mass fractions carbon black rubber powder‐epoxy resin composites were performed in room temperature to test their compression properties. The energy absorption performance and the energy absorption efficiency of the composites were calculated according to the compression curve. The fracture characteristics of the micro appearance of the compressed material specimen were observed by scanning electron microscope. The deformation mode of the composite was analyzed. By systematically analyzing the effects of carbon black rubber powder content on the mechanical properties of carbon black rubber powder‐epoxy resin, it was found that carbon black rubber powder as a reinforced material could effectively improve the brittleness of epoxy resin, the yield strength and the adsorption properties and efficiency of composites. With the mass fraction of carbon black rubber powder increasing, the energy absorption performance of carbon black rubber powder‐epoxy resin first increases and then decreases. Epoxy nanocomposites combining high toughness with advantageous functional properties are needed in many fields. However, fabricating high‐performance homogeneous epoxy nanocomposites with traditional methods remains a great challenge. Nacre with outstanding fracture toughness presents an ideal blueprint for the development of future epoxy nanocomposites. Now, high‐performance epoxy‐graphene layered nanocomposites were demonstrated with ultrahigh toughness and temperature‐sensing properties. These nanocomposites are composed of ca. 99 wt % organic epoxy, which is in contrast to the composition of natural nacre (ca. 96 wt % inorganic aragonite). These nanocomposites are named an inverse artificial nacre. The fracture toughness reaches about 4.2 times higher than that of pure epoxy. The electrical resistance is temperature‐sensitive and stable under various humidity conditions. In this paper the influence of hygrothermal ageing on the chemical composition, as well as the mechanical and thermal properties of four different composite materials was investigated: woven carbon fibre and glass fibre, with traditional epoxy resin and advanced thermoplastic polyphenylene sulphide (PPS). In particular, hygrothermal tests of 500, 750 and 1000 hours are performed with standard cycling used by most of original equipment manufacturer and car manufacturers. The ultimate strength and Young′s modulus have been verified using tensile and compression tests. Infrared absorption and glass transition temperature were obtained via attenuated total reflectance-dynamic mechanical thermal analysis combined testing. The glass transition temperature decreases in epoxy materials after ageing, while it increases in thermoplastic materials. The attenuated total reflectance analyses have shown a slight but irreversible change in the molecular structure of the epoxy matrix and at the fiber-matrix interface in polyphenylene sulphide composite materials. Finally, the results of the experiments give us useful suggestions for the design of vehicle structural components that are exposed to environmental conditions (rain, snow and humidity). In this research two grades of polysulfide resin with low and high molecular weight (respectively G4 and G112) as reactive modifier was used to toughen epoxy resin. The effect of modifier molecular weight on impact resistance, thermal expansion coefficient, storage and loss modulus, decomposition temperature and adhesion properties of toughened epoxy was investigated. The impact strength and the thermal expansion coefficient (CTE) of epoxy resin was increased with increasing polysulfide but the G112 modified epoxy samples showed higher CTE values and impact resistance than those of modified with G4. Comparing of the same weight percent inclusion of G4 and G112 effect on decomposition temperature show that G4 modified epoxy resin has lower decomposition temperature than the G112 modified epoxy resin. Also addition of G112 up to 10 weight percent leads to higher bond strength with aluminum sheets. According to the DMTA graphs, glass transition temperature (Tg) of the modified epoxy was decreased with increasing polysulfide weight percent in composition. Active nanocomposites of epoxy resin containing bentonite clay and shape memory alloy (SMA) were made to evaluate the thermomechanical behavior in the range of phase transformation of shape memory alloy during heating. The epoxy resin system studied was prepared using bifunctional diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA), crosslinking agent diaminodiphenylsulfone (DDS), purified bentonite organoclay (APOC) and thin Ni-Ti shape memory alloy wires. The evaluated ratio DGEBA/DDS was 100:40, for the epoxy resin/clay system was 100:1 and the shape memory alloy volumetric fraction of Ni-Ti wires were 1.55%; 2.56%; 3.57% and 4.54%. The formation of nanocomposite was confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. Phase transformation of the shape memory alloy wires were determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Specimens of the active nanocomposites were characterized mainly by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). According to the DMA results was evidenced a significant increase in glass transition temperature and storage modulus when 1 parts per hundred resin of clay is added to epoxy resin. A recover of storage modulus was observed in the active nanocomposite during heating in the range of the phase transformation of Ni-Ti shape memory alloy wires when the volumetric fraction is above 3.5%.
