The article considers the problem of quality control of scientific plots on the example of published plots characterizing continuum radiation absorption, properties of weakly bound molecular complexes and absorption cross sections used in atmospheric chemistry. The tasks of systematization of graphical resources are formulated, the functionality of the GrafOnto information system containing graphical resources is described, statistical samples characterizing, in particular, the quality of graphical resources in the collection are presented. The analysis of the quality of citing plots and proximity estimates for pairwise comparisons of all plots in the collection is presented as well as the applied ontology of graphical resources. Spectral line profiles are used to process experimental spectra when solving the inverse problem of computing the collisional parameters of the profiles [1]. The difference in their shapes is due to different physical conditions (hard/soft collisions, high/low pressures, etc.). Numerous different profiles are used in the study of the spectral line parameters of carbon dioxide, methane, methyl halides, and other molecules. The diversity of the line profiles used in the systematization of spectral line parameters adds complexity to the structures of data available in information systems and to the structures of individuals involved in ontological descriptions of the spectral line properties, which characterize the line profiles. A brief classification of spectral line profiles and their parameters is given, and the results of the systematization of spectral data relating to different line profiles used in processing carbon dioxide spectra are presented. The line profiles available in the library are described, and a system is built for importing spectral line parameters derived from the solution of the direct and inverse problems. Computer software for an automatic description of the properties of the solutions imported has been developed. The basic properties of the spectral data compiled in the W@DIS information system provide a description of the outcome of the imported data quality assessment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The developed under INTAS grant web portal ATMOS (http://atmos.iao.ru and http://atmos.scert.ru) makes available to the international research community, environmental managers, and the interested public, a bilingual information source for the domain of Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry, and the related application domain of air quality assessment and management. It offers access to integrated thematic information, experimental data, analytical tools and models, case studies, and related information and educational resources compiled, structured, and edited by the partners into a coherent and consistent thematic information resource. While offering the usual components of a thematic site such as link collections, user group registration, discussion forum, news section etc., the site is distinguished by its scientific information services and tools: on-line models and analytical tools, and data collections and case studies together with tutorial material. The portal is organized as a set of interrelated scientific sites, which addressed basic branches of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate Modeling as well as the applied domains of Air Quality Assessment and Management, Modeling, and Environmental Impact Assessment. Each scientific site is open for external access information-computational system realized by means of Internet technologies. The main basic science topics are devoted to Atmospheric Chemistry, Atmospheric Spectroscopy and Radiation, Atmospheric Aerosols, Atmospheric Dynamics and Atmospheric Models, including climate models. The portal ATMOS reflects current tendency of Environmental Sciences transformation into exact (quantitative) sciences and is quite effective example of modern Information Technologies and Environmental Sciences integration. This paper presents an overview of the current status of the Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Centre (VAMDC) e-infrastructure, including the current status of the VAMDC-connected (or to be connected) databases, updates on the latest technological development within the infrastructure and a presentation of some application tools that make use of the VAMDC e-infrastructure. We analyse the past 10 years of VAMDC development and operation, and assess their impact both on the field of atomic and molecular (A&M) physics itself and on heterogeneous data management in international cooperation. The highly sophisticated VAMDC infrastructure and the related databases developed over this long term make them a perfect resource of sustainable data for future applications in many fields of research. However, we also discuss the current limitations that prevent VAMDC from becoming the main publishing platform and the main source of A&M data for user communities, and present possible solutions under investigation by the consortium. Several user application examples are presented, illustrating the benefits of VAMDC in current research applications, which often need the A&M data from more than one database. A perturbation theory-based procedure for calculating mean values of quantum electrodynamic operators is proposed. Analytical solutions to similar electrodynamic problems are used as zeroorder approximations for the above approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A theoretical analysis and design features of parametric CO(2) laser-reception lidar are reported. Stabilized regular laser radiation intensity oscillations are shown to occur under the laser-reception scheme of the return signal. Results are presented for low frequency cavity mirror oscillations and high instantaneous beat frequency. The laser radiation modulation structure observed suggests the feasibility of deriving information about the properties of the laser beam propagation medium.
