Abstract Background The use of chemotherapy regimens with moderate or high risk of febrile neutropenia (defined as having a FN incidence of 10% or more) and the respective incidence and clinical management of FN in breast cancer and NHL has not been studied in Belgium. The existence of a medical need for G-CSF primary and secondary prophylaxis with these regimens was investigated in a real-life setting. Methods Nine oncologists and six hematologists from different Belgian general hospitals and university centers were surveyed to collect expert opinion and real-life data (year 2007) on the use of chemotherapy regimens with moderate or high risk of febrile neutropenia and the clinical management of FN in patients aged Results The most frequently used regimens in breast cancer patients (n = 161) were FEC (45%), FEC-T (37%) and docetaxel alone (6%). In NHL patients (n = 39), R-CHOP-21 (33%) and R-ACVBP-14 (15%) were mainly used. Without G-CSF primary prophylaxis (PP), FN occurred in 31% of breast cancer patients, and 13% had PSN. After G-CSF secondary prophylaxis (SP), 4% experienced further FN events. Only 1 breast cancer patient received PP, and did not experience a severe neutropenic event. Overall, 30% of chemotherapy cycles observed in breast cancer patients were protected by PP/SP. In 10 NHL patients receiving PP, 2 (20%) developed FN, whereas 13 (45%) of the 29 patients without PP developed FN and 3 (10%) PSN. Overall, 55% of chemotherapy cycles observed in NHL patients were protected by PP/SP. Impaired chemotherapy delivery (timing and/or dose) was reported in 40% (breast cancer) and 38% (NHL) of patients developing FN. Based on oncologist expert opinion, hospitalization rates for FN (average length of stay) without and with PP were, respectively, 48% (4.2 days) and 19% (1.5 days). Similar rates were obtained from hematologists. Conclusions Despite the studied chemotherapy regimens being known to be associated with a moderate or high risk of FN, upfront G-CSF prophylaxis was rarely used. The observed incidence of severe neutropenic events without G-CSF prophylaxis was higher than generally reported in the literature. The impact on medical resources used is sizeable.

Simple Summary: The care older patients with cancer receive in Belgium in the last months of life is not well defined. This study aimed to describe healthcare use at the end of life and explore which factors are associated with palliative care. This study shows that older patients with cancer in Belgium have frequent hospital admissions and emergency department visits before death and that more than half of the patients die in the hospital. Furthermore, we demonstrated that patients with limitations in function and cognition at cancer diagnosis receive less palliative care. This study gives insights into the type of care older patients depend on before death and which older patients receive less palliative care. Ultimately, healthcare use in the end-of-life period should be optimized, and palliative care should be made equally available in older patients with cancer. This study aims to describe end-of-life (EOL) care in older patients with cancer and investigate the association between geriatric assessment (GA) results and specialized palliative care (SPC) use. Older patients with a new cancer diagnosis (2009–2015) originally included in a previous multicentric study were selected if they died before the end of follow-up (2019). At the time of cancer diagnosis, patients underwent geriatric screening with Geriatric 8 (G8) followed by GA in case of a G8 score ≤14/17. These data were linked to the cancer registry and healthcare reimbursement data for follow-up. EOL care was assessed in the last three months before death, and associations were analyzed using logistic regression. A total of 3546 deceased older patients with cancer with a median age of 79 years at diagnosis were included. Breast, colon, and lung cancer were the most common diagnoses. In the last three months of life, 76.3% were hospitalized, 49.1% had an emergency department visit, and 43.5% received SPC. In total, 55.0% died in the hospital (38.5% in a non-palliative care unit and 16.4% in a palliative care unit). In multivariable analyses, functional and cognitive impairment at cancer diagnosis was associated with less SPC. Résumé: La prise en charge des tumeurs kystiques du pancréas n'est pas simple. Elles comprennent de nombreuses entités (les kystes mucineux, les kystes séreux, les tumeurs pseudo-papillaires solides (TPPS) ou les tumeurs neuroendocrines (TNE))... au pronostic variable. L'établissement de la nature du kyste est la première étape d'une bonne prise en charge, elle se base sur différentes techniques (IRM, écho-endoscopie avec ou sans cytoponction) qui peuvent être complémentaires. Un diagnostic de certitude ne peut pas toujours être établi, mais de nouvelles techniques prometteuses sont en cours de développement (microscopie confocale, étude moléculaire, etc.). En fonction de la nature de la lésion, une prise en charge chirurgicale est proposée d'emblée pour les tumeurs pseudo-papillaires solides ou un arrêt de la surveillance pour les lésions sans potentiel malin telles les cystadénomes séreux. Notons que les patients non éligibles à la chirurgie ne requièrent pas de suivi quelle que soit la nature du kyste. Pour les autres types de lésions, il existe une seconde étape dans la prise en charge qui consiste à établir la présence ou non de facteurs de mauvais pronostic. Ceux-ci ont été revus récemment par le consensus européen et orientent le patient vers une surveillance ou une prise en charge chirurgicale. The management of pancreatic cystic neoplasm is challenging. They are constituted by various entities (mucinous cyst, serous cyst, solid pseudopapillary neoplasm or cystic neuroendocrine tumour, etc.) with different and variable prognosis. The first step in management will try to determine the exact nature of the cyst. MRI and echo-endoscopy (with or without cyto-puncture) are basic technics to this establishment. Definitive diagnosis cannot always be established. Confocal microscopy or molecular analyses are new interesting tools in active development. Surgery will be systematically proposed for solid pseudopapillary tumour. In the other hand, monitoring can be stopped for harmless cysts like serous cystsadenoma. Let us point out that patients non-eligible for surgery do not require any follow up independently of cyst nature. For other types of lesion, the second step in management will be to evaluate the presence of worrying prognostic factors and further propose either an active surveillance or an appropriate surgery. The triplet combination of irinotecan, oxaliplatin and fluorouracil is an active frontline regimen in metastatic colorectal cancer, but scarce data exist on its use as salvage treatment. We aimed at assessing its safety and efficacy profiles with its circadianbased administration (chronoIFLO5) as either first- or second-line treatment, within the time-finding EORTC 05011 trial. Five-day chronoIFLO5 was administered every 3 weeks in patients with PS 0, 1 or 2. It consisted of chronomodulated irinotecan (180 mg/sqm), oxaliplatin (80 mg/sqm) and fluorouracil-leucovorin (2800 and 1200 mg/sqm, respectively). For our study, toxicity and antitumour activity were evaluated separately in first- and second-line settings. Primary endpoints included Grade 3-4 toxicity rates, best objective response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). One-hundred forty-nine and 44 patients were treated in first-line and second-line settings, respectively, with a total of 1138 cycles with median relative dose intensities of about 90%. Demographics were comparable in the two groups. Thirty-six (24.7%) and 10 (22.2%) patients experienced at least one episode of severe toxicity in first line and second line, respectively. Frontline chronoIFLO5 yielded an ORR of 62.3% [95% CI: 54.2-70.4] and resulted in median PFS and OS of 8.7 months [7.5-9.9] and 19.9 months [15.4-24.5]. Corresponding figures in second line were 37.5% [22.5-52.5], 6.7 months [4.8-8.9] and 16.3 months [11.8-20.8]. International and prospective evaluation revealed the favourable safety and efficacy profiles of chronoIFLO5, both as frontline and as salvage treatment against metastatic colorectal cancer. The least toxic time (LTT) of irinotecan varied by up to 8 hours according to sex and genetic background in mice. The translational relevance was investigated within a randomized trial dataset, where no LTT stood out significantly in the whole population. 130 male and 63 female eligible patients with metastatic colorectal cancer were randomized to receive chronomodulated Irinotecan with peak delivery rate at 1 of 6 clock hours staggered by 4 hours on day 1, then fixed‐time chronomodulated Fluorouracil‐Leucovorin‐Oxaliplatin for 4 days, q3 weeks. The sex‐specific circadian characteristics of grade (G) 3‐4 toxicities were mapped with cosinor and time*sex interactions confirmed with Fisher's exact test. Baseline characteristics of male or female patients were similar in the six treatment groups. Main grade 3‐4 toxicities over six courses were diarrhea (males vs females, 39.2%; vs 46.0%), neutropenia (15.6% vs 15.0%), fatigue (11.5% vs 15.9%), and anorexia (10.0% vs 7.8%). They were reduced following irinotecan peak delivery in the morning for males, but in the afternoon for females, with statistically significant rhythms (P <.05 from cosinor) and sex*timing interactions (Fisher's exact test, diarrhea, P =.023; neutropenia, P =.015; fatigue, P =.062; anorexia, P =.032). Irinotecan timing was most critical for females, with grades 3‐4 ranging from 55.2% of the patients (morning) to 29.4% (afternoon) for diarrhea, and from 25.9% (morning) to 0% (afternoon) for neutropenia. Background: The hepatic artery infusion (HAI) of irinotecan, oxaliplatin and 5-fluorouracil with intravenous cetuximab achieved outstanding efficacy in previously treated patients with initially unresectable liver metastases from colorectal cancer. This planned study aimed at the identification of pharmacogenetic predictors of outcomes.Methods: Circulating mononuclear cells were analysed for 207 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from 34 pharmacology genes. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms passing stringent Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test were tested for their association with outcomes in 52 patients (male/female, 36/16; WHO PS, 0-1).Results: VKORC1 SNPs (rs9923231 and rs9934438) were associated with early and objective responses, and survival. For rs9923231, T/T achieved more early responses than C/T (50% vs 5%, P=0.029) and greatest 4-year survival (46% vs 0%, P=0.006). N-acetyltransferase-2 (rs1041983 and rs1801280) were associated with up to seven-fold more macroscopically complete hepatectomies. Progression-free survival was largest in ABCB1 rs1045642 T/T (P=0.026) and rs2032582 T/T (P=0.035). Associations were found between toxicities and gene variants (P<0.05), including neutropenia with ABCB1 (rs1045642) and SLC0B3 (rs4149117 and rs7311358); and diarrhoea with CYP2C9 (rs1057910), CYP2C19 (rs3758581), UGT1A6 (rs4124874) and SLC22A1 (rs72552763).Conclusion: VKORC1, NAT2 and ABCB1 variants predicted for HAI efficacy. Introduction: Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibition is the preferred first-line treatment of advanced adenocarcinoma of the lung that harbors EGFR activating tyrosine kinase domain mutations. Most data available pertain to Asian populations in which such mutations are more prevalent. We report on the long-term results of first-line treatment with erlotinib in Caucasian patients with advanced adenocarcinoma of the lung that have a somatic EGFR mutation in their tumor. Methods: Multicenter academic prospective phase II study with erlotinib in patients with an activating EGFR tyrosine kinase (TK) domain somatic mutation (any exon encoding the kinase domain) in the tumor and no prior treatment for their advanced disease. Results: Phenotypic preselecting of 229 patients led to a high EGFR mutation detection rate of 24% of which 46 patients were included in the phase II study. With a progression free survival (PFS) of 81% at three months the study met its primary endpoint for presumed superiority over chemotherapy. With an overall median PFS of 11 months and a median overall survival (OS) of 23 months, the results compare favorably with results obtained in randomized studies using TKI in first line in EGFR mutation positive adenocarcinoma of the lung. Conclusion: The present study reinforces the use of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibition (TKI) as a first line treatment of choice for advanced adenocarcinoma of the lung carrying an activating EGFR mutation. The mutation rate in preselected Caucasian patients is higher than previously reported. Issues relevant for clinical practice are discussed. The disruption of the circadian timing system (CTS), which rhythmically controls cellular metabolism and proliferation, accelerated experimental cancer progression. A measure of CTS function in cancer patients could thus provide novel prediction information for outcomes, and help to identify novel specific therapies. The rest-activity circadian rhythm is a reliable and non-invasive CTS biomarker, which was monitored using a wrist watch accelerometer for 2 days in 436 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. The relative percentage of activity in-bed versus out-of-bed (I < O) constituted the tested CTS measure, whose prognostic value for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) was determined in a pooled analysis of three patient cohorts with different treatment exposures. Median OS was 21.6 months [17.8-25.5] for patients with I < O above the median value of 97.5% as compared to 11.9 months [10.4-13.3] for those with a lower I < O (Log-rank p < 0.001). Multivariate analyses retained continuous I < O as a joint predictor of both OS and PFS, with respective hazard ratios (HR) of 0.954 ( p < 0.001) and 0.970 ( p < 0.001) for each 1% increase in I < O. HRs had similar values in all the patient subgroups tested. The circadian physiology biomarker I < O constitutes a robust and independent quantitative predictor of cancer patient outcomes, that can be easily and cost-effectively measured during daily living. Interventional studies involving 24-h schedules of clock-targeted drugs, light intensity, exercise and/or meals are needed for testing the relevance of circadian synchronization for the survival of patients with disrupted rhythms. Circadian clocks control cellular proliferation and drug metabolism over the 24 h. However, circadian chronomodulated chemotherapy with 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin (chronoFLO4) offered no survival benefit as compared with the non-time-stipulated FOLFOX2, in an international randomized trial involving patients with previously untreated metastatic colorectal cancer (EORTC 05963). The authors hypothesized that treatment near maximum tolerated dose could disrupt circadian clocks thus impairing the efficacy of chronoFLO4 but not of FOLFOX2. Patients with available data (N == 556) were categorized into three subgroups according to the worst grade (G) of neutropenia experienced during treatment. Distinct multivariate models with time-dependent covariates were constructed for each treatment schedule. Neutropenia incidence (all grades) was 33%% on chronoFLO4 and 61%% on FOLFOX2 ( p < .0001), and G3-4 were 7%% and 25%%, respectively ( p < .0001). Neutropenia was significantly more frequent in women than men on either schedule (FOLFOX2, p == .003; chronoFLO4, p == .04). Median survival was 20.7 mo in patients with G3-4 neutropenia versus 12.5 mo in neutropenia-free patients on FOLFOX2 ( p < .0001). Corresponding figures were 13.7 and 19.4 mo, respectively, on chronoFLO4 ( p == .36). Multivariate analysis confirmed occurrence of severe neutropenia independently predicted for better overall survival on FOLFOX2 (HR == 0.56; p == .015), and worse survival on chronoFLO4 (HR == 1.77, p == .06), with a significant interaction test ( p < .0001). Prediction of better survival in neutropenic patients on FOLFOX2 supports the administration of conventional chemotherapy near maximum tolerated dose. The opposite trend shown here for chronoFLO4 supports the novel concept of jointly optimized hematologic tolerability and efficacy through personalized circadian-timed therapy. Studies in animals synchronized with an alternation of 12 h of light and 12 h of darkness have showed that hematological and systemic toxicities could be reduced if vinorelbine were administered 19 or 23 hours after light onset (HALO), corresponding to 17:00 and 21:00 h in diurnally active humans. This trial aimed to define the least toxic time of vinorelbine administration in metastatic breast cancer patients. Initially, the study treatment consisted of three courses of vinorelbine of 30 mg/m2/d on D1 and D6 and chronomodulated 5-fluorouracil of 850 mg/m2 from D2 to D5 every 21 days. Ninety metastatic breast cancer patients were randomized to receive vinorelbine at one of the eight possible dosing times. Further to the recommendations of the Independent Data Monitoring Committee, the vinorelbine dose was reduced to 25 mg/m2/d midway through the study. The primary objective of the study was detection of the least toxic time based on the incidence of grade 3-4 (G3-4) neutropenia. To show a significant result, the 90% confidence interval width of the least toxic time had to be<6 h. The least toxic time detection based on the incidence of other toxicities was also analyzed. The time of least drug toxic was estimated using a logistic regression model assuming that the logit transformation of the toxicity rate follows a sinusoidal distribution over 24 h. The bootstrap technique was used to obtain the 90% confidence interval. The least toxic time of G3-4 neutropenia was observed at 21:00 h with a non-significant 90% CI. Secondary endpoint analyses indicated the least toxic time could differ when based on other toxicity parameters (e.g., a significant least toxic time of 17:00 h was observed for G3-4 leucopenia), in agreement with animal data. The least toxic time of 10:30 h was estimated for any G3-4 gastrointestinal toxicity. This results of this study do not allow us to recommend an optimal time for vinorelbine administration. It has highlighted, however, the inherent methodological difficulties in the conduct of such a trial in the human setting. It indicates that future optimal time-finding trials should have tolerability and/or activity as the primary endpoint in place of a particular toxicity. This article reviews the experimental and clinical data that form the basis for the chronotherapy of lung carcinoma, specifically, nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Circadian rhythms in cell kinetics, immunological and endocrinological endpoints, and tumor markers are reviewed. Chronopharmacology and chronotolerance studies on laboratory animals and clinical observations on cancer patients involving the main drugs active in lung carcinoma have prompted prospective Phase I-III studies to evaluate the application of chronobiologic concepts in the treatment of NSCLC. Circadian rhythmicity in host tolerance (chronotolerance) to medications has been confirmed in two prospective randomized lung cancer trials; a large phase II study has established the value of chronobiologic concepts to improve the therapeutic index of advanced NSCLC. Background/aim: A prospective non-randomized study was performed on 68 women who had recently undergone curative treatment (surgery +/- adjuvant radio/chemotherapy) for breast cancer., Patients and Methods: Patients were distributed into 2 subgroups, control (C) group (n=21) and experimental (E) group (n=47). The last group participated in a 12-week rehabilitation program associating physical activity and psychoeducational workshops, including management of stress, diet, and sleep disorders., Results: Despite the initial imbalance between the groups (patients from C group were older and had received less chemotherapy than those from the E group), at the end of the rehabilitation program, we observed a significant improvement in global health feeling and in objective physical tests (distance covered in 6 min and objective measures of ergospirometry), and a decrease in pathological fatigue, while these different items remained quite stable over time in the control group., Conclusion: It is suggested to recommend structured rehabilitation to any patient who does not have a contraindication to it. Aim: To determine if actively-treated cancer patients developing cachexia could benefit from participation to mindfulness workshops., Patients and Methods: Subjects developing cachexia signs while treated for cancer were randomized in a trial aiming to compare an experimental group that would participate to specific workshops based on mindfulness alternating dietetic and psychological approaches, and a control group managed in accordance to usual practice., Results: The recruitment was difficult (12% of the approached population). Finally 53 patients accepted to participate. Despite an unpredictable compliance of workshop participants, the final satisfaction score attained 75%. In comparison with the control group, patients randomized to the experimental group showed a significant benefit with an increase of their body weight and an improvement of their WHO status score. They also experienced an improvement of emotional function and observation faculty as well as a relief of fatigue and some digestive disorders., Conclusion: Selected cachectic cancer patients may benefit from this experimental approach. Aim: To determine imatinib nonadherence rates in patients with gastrointestinal tumors (GIST) over 90 days., Patients and Methods: A prospective 90-day observational, open-label, multicenter study was carried out of 28 evaluable GIST patients on imatinib. Nonadherence behavior was measured using a 4-item patient interview. Clinicians, patients, and collaterals rated perceived patient adherence on a 0-100 VAS scale., Results: Nonadherence rates in the 4 weeks prior to baseline and follow-up were 29% (95% CI=26-32) and 24% (95% CI=21-27, p>0.05). Mean VAS ratings of perceived adherence ranged from 95.2 ± 10.2 to 97.3 ± 4.8 (p>0.05 for time and source of rating). Correlations between perceptions of and actual adherence behavior were negative., Conclusion: In this first study on imatinib nonadherence in GIST patients, rates were similar to those observed in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia, higher than clinically expected and exceeding meta-analytic estimates for cancer. Nonadherence rates were consistent across the 90-day period. Nonadherence behavior should be assessed by clinicians.

Purpose: We investigated the incidence of cardiac adverse events in patients with early breast cancer in the Herceptin Adjuvant (HERA) trial who were treated with 1 year of trastuzumab after completion of (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy., Patients and Methods: The HERA trial is a three-group, randomized trial that compared 1 year or 2 years of trastuzumab with observation in women with human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) -positive early breast cancer. Eligible patients had normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF; >or= 55%) after completion of (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy. Cardiac function was monitored throughout the trial. This analysis considers patients randomly assigned to 1 year of trastuzumab treatment or observation., Results: There were 1,698 patients randomly assigned to observation and 1,703 randomly assigned to 1 year of trastuzumab treatment; 94.1% of patients had been treated with anthracyclines. The incidence of discontinuation of trastuzumab because of cardiac disorders was low (5.1%). At a median follow-up of 3.6 years, the incidence of cardiac end points remained low, though it was higher in the trastuzumab group than in the observation group (severe CHF, 0.8% v 0.0%; confirmed significant LVEF decreases, 3.6% v 0.6%) In the trastuzumab group, 59 of 73 patients with a cardiac end point reached acute recovery; of these 59 patients, 52 were considered by the cardiac advisory board (CAB) to have a favorable outcome from the cardiac end point., Conclusion: The incidence of cardiac end points remains low even after longer-term follow-up. The cumulative incidence of any type of cardiac end point increases during the scheduled treatment period of 1 year, but it remains relatively constant thereafter.

The rest-activity circadian rhythm (CircAct) reflects the function of the circadian timing system. In a prior single-institution study, the extent of CircAct perturbation independently predicted for survival and tumor response in 192 patients receiving chemotherapy for metastatic colorectal cancer. Moreover, the main CircAct parameters correlated with several health-related quality of life (HRQoL) scales. In this prospective study, we attempted to extend these results to an independent cohort of chemotherapy-naive metastatic colorectal cancer patients participating in an international randomized phase III trial (European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer 05963). Patients were randomized to receive chronomodulated or conventional infusion of 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin as first-line treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer. Purpose: The 4-year results of this trial demonstrated that a higher dose of epirubicin with cyclophosphamide (HEC) is superior to a lower dose of epirubicin, 60 mg/m(2) (EC), for event-free survival (EFS; 27% reduction), but is not superior to classical oral cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, and fluorouracil (CMF) in the adjuvant treatment of node-positive breast cancer. Herein we report the 15-year data on efficacy and long-term toxicity of this three-arm Belgian multicenter trial., Patients and Methods: Between March 1988 and December 1996, 777 eligible patients were randomly assigned to six cycles of CMF, eight cycles of EC, or eight cycles HEC., Results: The 15-year EFS was 45% for patients who received CMF, 39% for patients who received EC, and 50% for patients who received HEC. The hazard ratios (HR) were 0.77 for HEC versus EC (95% CI, 0.60 to 0.98; P = .03), 0.90 for HEC versus CMF (P = .39), and 0.86 for EC versus CMF (P = .21). No difference in overall survival (OS) was seen. Cardiac toxicity was more frequent with HEC than with CMF (11 patients v 1 patient; P = .006), but no more than with EC (P = .21)., Conclusion: Treatment with HEC demonstrated superior EFS when compared with lower-dose epirubicin. However, we do not recommend the use of HEC regimen in daily clinical practice, mainly because of the higher risk of cardiotoxicity related to the cumulative doses of epirubicin and the lack of superiority of anthracyclines over CMF in our study.

Purpose: A recent study identified a prognostic model for survival in metastatic colorectal cancer patients which included WBC count, alkaline phosphatase (AP), number of metastatic sites, and patients' self-reported social functioning. The aim of this research is to validate this model on data from an independent sample., Patients and Methods: This validation study is based on a prospective randomized controlled trial in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer conducted by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Chronotherapy Group. Overall, 564 patients in 10 countries were enrolled. For the purpose of this independent validation, patients with health-related quality of life (HRQOL) baseline data were analyzed. HRQOL was assessed using the EORTC Quality of Life Questionnaire C30 (QLQ-C30). The Cox proportional hazards regression model was used for both univariate and multivariate analyses of survival., Results: The previous model with an additional adjustment, by stratification for sex, was replicated and its parameters were confirmed to independently predict survival: WBC count with an hazard ratio (HR) of 1.31 (95% CI, 1.021 to 1.698; P = .034); AP with an HR of 1.53 (95% CI, 1.188 to 1.979; P = .001); number of sites involved with an HR of 1.90 (95% CI, 1.531 to 2.364; P < .0001); and patients' self-reported social functioning with an HR of 0.94 (95% CI, 0.905 to 0.976; P = .001). The latter translates into a 6% increase in the likelihood of an earlier death for every 10-point decrease in the social functioning scale of the EORTC QLQ-C30., Conclusion: This study provides confirmatory evidence of the independent prognostic value of patients' self-reported social functioning in patients with advanced colorectal cancer.
