Abstract Background To explore the feasibility and safety of aflexible ureteroscopy with intelligent control of renal pelvic pressure(FUS-ICP) without a post-operative indwelling urinary catheter . Methods In this retrospective study, we assessed patients with upper urinary tract stones who were treated with FUS-ICP at the Ganzhou People’s Hospital from February 2022 to December 2023. Patients were divided into the non-urinary catheter (non-UC) and urinary catheter (UC) groups according to whether an indwelling catheter was used after surgery. Results In total, 142 patients were included in the study. There was no significant difference in the preoperative general data between the two groups. Patients in the non-UC group performed better than those in the UC group in terms of catheter-related bladder irritation (P = 0.001), the Sedation-Agitation Scale score (P = 0.012), and the numerical rating scale (P = 0.003). The incidences of urinary retention (P = 0.620), urinary tract infection (P = 0.529), and replacement of urethral catheter s (P = 0.438) in the UC group were inferior to those in the non-UC group, but there was no statistical significance. Conclusions It is feasible and safe to perform FUS-ICP without a post-procedure indwelling urinary catheter.

Abstract [Objective] The Northern Hengduan Mountains are rich in biodiversity. Over the last 10 years, there have been many reports of the biodiversity of the region. The team conducted a survey of plant diversity and vegetation structure in Northern Hengduan Mountains from June to August 2023. [Methods] Through field investigation and collection and photograph of plants, as well as preparing, classifying, and identifying specimens. [Results] Eight newly recorded species were reported from Chaya of Changdu in the Northern Hengduan Mountains in Xizang. They were Ephedra minuta Florin (Ephedraceae), Caragana korshinskii Kom. (Fabaceae), Rhododendron luhuoense H. P. Yang (Ericaceae), R. orthocladum var. longistylum Philipson et M. N. Philipson (Ericaceae), R. thymifolium Maxim. (Ericaceae), R. nivale Hook. f. subsp. australe Philipson et M. N. Philipson (Ericaceae), Artemisia capillaris Thunb. (Asteraceae), and Chenopodiastrum gracilispicum (H.W.Kung) Uotila (Amaranthaceae) [Conclusion] The discovery of the newly distributed plants is an important supplement for the flora of the Hengduan Mountains in Xizang. Development of effective therapies against SARS-CoV-2 infections relies on mechanistic knowledge of virus-host interface. Abundant physical interactions between viral and host proteins have been identified, but few have been functionally characterized. Harnessing the power of fly genetics, we develop a comprehensive Drosophila COVID-19 resource (DCR) consisting of publicly available strains for conditional tissue-specific expression of all SARS-CoV-2 encoded proteins, UAS-human cDNA transgenic lines encoding established host-viral interacting factors, and GAL4 insertion lines disrupting fly homologs of SARS-CoV-2 human interacting proteins. We demonstrate the utility of the DCR to functionally assess SARS-CoV-2 genes and candidate human binding partners. We show that NSP8 engages in strong genetic interactions with several human candidates, most prominently with the ATE1 arginyltransferase to induce actin arginylation and cytoskeletal disorganization, and that two ATE1 inhibitors can reverse NSP8 phenotypes. The DCR enables parallel global-scale functional analysis of SARS-CoV-2 components in a prime genetic model system.

ObjectiveTo understand the use of antibiotics in inpatients and the incidence and trend of hospital infections， to explore the implementation effect of comprehensive management measures， and to provide reference for hospitals to use antibiotics reasonably.MethodsBased on the hospital infection monitoring and management system， a retrospective analysis and comparison were conducted on the use of antibiotics， submission of microbial test samples， and incidence of hospital infections among inpatients in a tertiary hospital from 2012 to 2021.ResultsFrom 2012 to 2021， the use of antibiotics showed a downward trend， from 50.82% in 2012 to 41.29% in 2021. At the same time， the use rate of restricted and special antibiotics had also decreased， and the use rate of restricted and special antibiotics in patients without hospital infection was significantly lower than that in patients with hospital infection， and the microbial testing rate was also on the rise. The annual incidence rate of hospital infection was 0.69%‒1.92%， and the annual case-time prevalence rate was 0.79%‒2.17%. The annual average rate of the above two in 10 years was 1.18% and 1.34%， respectively. The results of the exponential smoothing model also showed that the utilization rate of antibiotics was decreasing and the incidence of nosocomial infection was stable.ConclusionLarge general hospitals took comprehensive management measures to strengthen the management of rational use of antibiotics， which led to a decline in the use rate of antibacterial drugs for inpatients and an increase in the rate of microbial examination. At the same time， the overall incidence of hospital infection was relatively stable， suggesting that the comprehensive management measures of antibacterial drugs in hospitals had achieved certain results. The current measures need to be optimized in the future to continuously improve the management level of rational use of antibacterial drugs.

ObjectiveTo investigate a suspected outbreak of carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii （CRAB） nosocomial infection in an intensive care unit （ICU） and provide scientific evidence for prevention and control of multi-drug resistant nosocomial infection.MethodsClinical and epidemiological data of 4 patients with CRAB infection were retrospectively investigated in the ICU of Renji Hospital in November 2021. Environmental hygiene monitoring and multilocus sequence typing （MLST） were conducted and intervention measures were taken.ResultsA total of 4 cases with CRAB infection were identified， among which 1 case was determined to be community-acquired and 3 cases were hospital-acquired. The isolated strains shared the same drug resistance， and were all classified into ST368 type. In the surface and hand samples （n=40）， 2 CRAB strains were detected in the air filter beside the bed of the first case， with a detection rate of 5%. After adopting comprehensive prevention and control strategies， including environmental cleaning and disinfection， hand hygiene， staff management and training， and supervision， no similar case with CRAB infection was found.ConclusionThis suspected outbreak of CRAB nosocomial infection may be induced by inadequate environmental cleaning and disinfection， and inadequate implementation of hand hygiene. Timely identification， investigation， and targeted measures remain crucial to effective control of possible nosocomial infection.

IntroductionHyperkyphosis commonly affects older people but is not widely acknowledged as a clinically actionable problem, especially in men. There are several techniques to quantify kyphosis including the blocks and Cobb angle measurements. This study includes both kyphosis measures to investigate whether older men with accentuated kyphosis may be at increased mortality risk.MethodsMen aged ≥65 years (N = 5994) were recruited to participate in the MrOS prospective cohort study from 2000 to 2002 (baseline). Our primary cohort included 2931 enrollees (mean age 79.3 years; SD 5.2) who underwent blocks-measured kyphosis from 2006 to 2009. Our secondary cohort included 2351 participants who underwent radiographic Cobb angle measurements at baseline. Cox proportional hazards analyses were used to determine association between kyphosis and all-cause mortality while adjusting for prevalent radiographic vertebral fractures, bone mineral density, incident fractures, gait speed, timed chair stands, self-reported health, alcohol use, medical co-morbidities, and physical activity.ResultsDuring a mean follow-up of 8.3 (SD 3.2) years, 1393 participants died in the primary cohort.
