Detecting and tracking objects of interest in videos is a technology that can be used in various applications. For example, identifying cell movements or mutations through videos obtained in real time can be useful information for decision making in the medical field. However, depending on the situation, the quality of the video may be below the expected level, and in this case, it may be difficult to check necessary information. To overcome this problem, we proposed a technique to effectively track objects by modifying the simplest color balance (SCB) technique. An optimal object detection method was devised by mixing the modified SCB algorithm and a binarization technique. We presented a method of displaying object labels on a per-frame basis to track object movements in a video. Detecting objects and tagging labels through this method can be used to generate object motion-based prediction training data for machine learning. That is, based on the generated training data, it is possible to implement an artificial intelligence model for an expert system based on various object motion measurements. As a result, the main object detection accuracy in noisy videos was more than 95%. This method also reduced the tracking loss rate to less than 10%.

Recently, developments in the field of cosmetics have led to a renewed interest in hair dyeing. However, damage to the hair during the dyeing process has increased hesitation in attempting hair dyeing. As a result, hair dyes with minimal side effects have been in constant demand, and are being developed. In this study, natural-extract polyphenols, pyrogallol, and gallic acid are coordinated by CuCl2 in a NaCl aqueous solution to form an oligomer, which creates an ion-channel coating on the hair surface to protect it. This work attempts to develop fast, simple, and damage-free hair-dye ingredients based on pyrogallol and gallic acid. The morphology and elements of polyphenols coated on hair are characterized. The results reveal that the hair is dyed with the polyphenol-based dye reagent successfully. Moreover, the thickness of the dyed hair continuously rises ten times after dyeing. The tensile strength of the dyed hair is also measured, showing an upward and downward trend. These results reflect the fact that pyrogallol and gallic acid are considered to be the essential and functional polyphenols, and can build ion blocks on hair, which can create new multifunctional coating materials.

Research has been conducted on allyl cross-coupling reactions of allylindiums with organic electrophiles. Results demonstrate that these reactions have been performed in the presence of LiCl in DMF under the nitrogen atmosphere.

Online social network services (SNS) such as Twitter and Facebook are currently representative means of disseminating information on the Web. It is therefore crucial to internet marketing to understand the dynamics of information diffusion in online social networks. To this end, we present a probabilistic approach to process discovery, based on an extended hidden Markov model, considering the log data extracted from online SNS. Specifically, we first group users based on their interactions using SNS log data and three community detection algorithms. The process discovery algorithm is an extension of the hidden Markov model and applies to the user communities to reflect probabilistic dissemination among user communities. We illustrate the proposed method with real SNS data gathered from a Facebook fan page. We expect that our method can promote comprehension of the information dynamics in online social networks by visualizing probabilistic information diffusion through user groups. A series of 3,4-dihydroquinazoline derivatives with anti-cancer activities against human colon cancer HT-29 cell were subjected to three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) studies using the comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA) approaches. The most potent compound, BK10001 was used to align the molecules. As a result, the best prediction was obtained with CoMSIA combined electrostatic, hydrophobic, and hydrogen-bond acceptor fields (q² = 0.648, r² = 0.882). This model was validated by an external test set of six compounds giving satisfactory predictive r² values of 0.879. This model would guide the design of potent 3,4-dihydroquinazoline derivatives as anti-cancer agent for the treatment of human colon cancer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Effective performance measures must be developed in order to effectively maintain successful collaboration. This paper presents a methodology of collaborative performance measures to evaluate the overall performance of a collaboration process between multiple manufacturing partners. The partners first define collaborative key performance indicators (cKPI), and they then measure the cKPIs and calculate the synthetic performance from the cKPI values to evaluate the result of the collaboration case. To measure different scales of cKPI, we develop a two-folded desirability function based on the logistic sigmoid functions. The proposed methodology provides a quantitative way to measure collaborative performance in order to effectively manage collaboration among partners, continuously improving collaboration performance.
