In this letter, a hybrid non‐orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme for satellite–terrestrial systems is proposed, which is capable of integrating both power domain NOMA (PD‐NOMA) and code domain NOMA (CD‐NOMA) design modes. The stochastic geometry method is considered to model the position of the terrestrial NOMA user. Specifically, the closed‐form expressions of exact outage probability with imperfect interference cancellation are derived. In order to get more insights, the asymptotic outage probabilities for high SNR conditions are also discussed. A unified nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) framework for satellite-terrestrial network is investigated over Shadowed-Rician fading channels, which can be applied to both power domain NOMA (PD-NOMA) and code domain NOMA (CD-NOMA). Under the realistic assumption of hardware impairments (HIs) and imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC), the achievable outage probability of the paired users is analyzed first, and the closed-form expressions of exact and asymptotic outage probability are derived. Next, the ergodic sum rate is investigated in different levels of HIs and residual interference. In addition, the energy efficiency in the delay-tolerant transmission mode is studied to characterize the performance of the satellite-terrestrial network. Finally, the Monte Carlo simulation results demonstrate the accuracy of theoretical derivation and showcase the effects of a wide range of satellite channel parameters and the realistic assumption on outage probability, ergodic rate, and energy efficiency. Carrier phase positioning technology is widely used in global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) but not applied to wireless orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) systems. Carrier phase technology has a high resolution, which can improve the positioning accuracy of wireless cellular networks. Applying the carrier phase to a wireless mobile positioning system has some problems, such as continuous phase tracking, accurate integer ambiguity resolution, positioning errors caused by non‐line‐of‐sight (NLOS) and so forth. This paper offers a positioning technique combining the time‐of‐arrival (TOA) and carrier phase to solve the above problems. Based on Bayesian theory, a two‐step position estimator is introduced in our scheme to solve the terminal position. Besides, an NLOS identification and suppression scheme is proposed to enhance the robustness of the algorithm. Experiments show that even in the NLOS environment, the joint positioning algorithm using TOA and carrier phase can effectively improve the positioning accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Low latency and a massive connection have become the requirements of energy internet wireless communication. Effective capacity analysis of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks with short packets is of vital importance in energy internet communication planning and design. Low-latency communications are one of the main application scenarios in next-generation wireless networks. This paper focuses on the effective capacity of NOMA networks, where the finite blocklength, delay exponent, and transmission error probability are taken into account. New exact and asymptotic expressions of effective capacities are derived for arbitrarily ordered users with a finite blocklength. Based on the analytical results, the high Signal-to-Noise Ratio slopes of effective capacity in NOMA networks are carefully attained. The numerical results validate that (a) non-orthogonal users are capable of obtaining a larger effective capacity when the blocklength decreases, and that (b), as the value of the error probability and delay exponent increases, the effective capacity of non-orthogonal users worsens. This study focuses on the power allocation (PA) problem in code division multiple access (PDMA) networks with amplify-and-forward (AF) relays. We provide two wireless communication technical performance indexes, which are system throughput and outage probability. A multiobjective version of particle swarm optimization is proposed to solve Pareto-optimal solutions for optimal PA problems. A novel programming model is built based on improvement of constraint functions, and the accuracy and efficiency of solution can be improved via compact constraints. The technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution is proposed to balance the performance indicators, which include outage probability and system throughput. Since 5G new radio comes with non-standalone (NSA) and standalone (SA) versions in 3GPP, research on 6G has been on schedule by academics and industries. Though 6G is supposed to have much higher capabilities than 5G, yet there is no clear description about what 6G is. In this article, a comprehensive discussion of 6G is given based on the review of 5G developments, covering visions and requirements, technology trends and challenges, aiming at tackling the challenge of coverage, capacity, the user data rate and movement speed of mobile communication system. The vision of 6G is to fully support the development of a Ubiquitous Intelligent Mobile Society with intelligent life and industries. This paper proposes a unified framework of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks. Stochastic geometry is employed to model the locations of spatially NOMA users. The proposed unified NOMA framework is capable of being applied to both code-domain NOMA (CD-NOMA) and power-domain NOMA (PD-NOMA). Since the detection of NOMA users mainly depend on efficient successive interference cancelation (SIC) schemes, both imperfect SIC (ipSIC) and perfect SIC (pSIC) are taken into account. To characterize the performance of the proposed unified NOMA framework, the exact and asymptotic expressions of outage probabilities as well as delay-limited throughput for CD/PD-NOMA with ipSIC/pSIC are derived. In order to obtain more insights, the diversity analysis of a pair of NOMA users (i.e., thenth user andmth user) is provided. Our analytical results reveal that: 1) the diversity orders ofmth andnth user with pSIC for CD-NOMA aremKandnK, respectively; 2) due to the influence of residual interference, thenth user with ipSIC obtains a zero diversity order; and 3) the diversity order is determined by the user who has the poorer channel conditions out of the pair. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations are presented to verify the analytical results: 1) when the number of subcarriers becomes lager, the NOMA users are capable of achieving more steep slope in terms of outage probability and 2) the outage behavior of CD-NOMA is superior to that of PD-NOMA. The mobile fog computing-assisted resource allocation (RA) is studied for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) two-hop orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) networks, where a decode-and-forward (DF) relay first harvests energy from signals emitted by a source and then helps the source to forward information to its destination by using the harvested energy. Power splitting (PS) strategy is adopted at the relay and a different PS (DPS) receiver architecture is proposed, where the PS factors of all subcarriers are different. A RA problem is formulated to maximize the system’s achievable rate by jointly optimizing subcarrier pairing, power allocation, and PS factors. Since the RA problem is a nonconvex problem and is difficult to solve, an efficient RA algorithm is designed. As the wireless channels are fast time-varying, the computation is performed in mobile fog node close to end nodes, instead of remote clouds. Results demonstrate that the achievable rate is significantly increased by using the proposed RA algorithm. It is also found that the computation complexity of RA algorithm of DPS receiver architecture is much lower than the existing identical PS (IPS) receiver architecture, and thus the proposed DPS architecture is more suitable for computation-constrained fog system. A two-way relay non-orthogonal multiple access (TWR-NOMA) system is investigated, where two groups of NOMA users exchange messages with the aid of one half-duplex decode-and-forward relay. Since the signal-plus-interference-to-noise ratios of NOMA signals mainly depend on effective successive interference cancellation (SIC) schemes, imperfect SIC (ipSIC), and perfect SIC (pSIC) are taken into account. In order to characterize the performance of TWR-NOMA systems, we first derive closed-form expressions for both exact and asymptotic outage probabilities of NOMA users’ signals with ipSIC/pSIC. Based on the derived results, the diversity order and throughput of the system are examined. Then, we study the ergodic rates of users’ signals by providing the asymptotic analysis in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regimes. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to verify the analytical results and show that: 1) TWR-NOMA is superior to TWR-OMA in terms of outage probability in low SNR regimes; 2) due to the impact of interference signal at the relay, error floors and throughput ceilings exist in outage probabilities, and ergodic rates for TWR-NOMA, respectively; and 3) in delay-limited transmission mode, TWR-NOMA with ipSIC and pSIC have almost the same energy efficiency. This paper investigates the impact of relay selection (RS) on the performance of cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), where relays are capable of working in either full-duplex (FD) or half-duplex (HD) mode. A number of relays (i.e., $K$ relays) are uniformly distributed within the disc. A pair of RS schemes are considered insightfully: 1) single-stage RS (SRS) scheme; and 2) two-stage RS (TRS) scheme. In order to characterize the performance of these two RS schemes, new closed-form expressions for both exact and asymptotic outage probabilities are derived. Based on analytical results, the diversity orders achieved by the pair of RS schemes for FD/HD cooperative NOMA are obtained. Our analytical results reveal that: 1) the FD-based RS schemes obtain a zero diversity order, which is due to the influence of loop interference at the relay; and 2) the HD-based RS schemes are capable of achieving a diversity order of $K$ , which is equal to the number of relays. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that: 1) the FD-based RS schemes have better outage performance than HD-based RS schemes in the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region; 2) as the number of relays increases, the pair of RS schemes considered are capable of achieving the lower outage probability; and 3) the outage behaviors of FD/HD-based NOMA SRS/TRS schemes are superior to that of random RS and orthogonal multiple access based RS schemes. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) as an efficient method of radio resource sharing has its roots in network information theory. For generations of wireless communication systems design, orthogonal multiple access schemes in the time, frequency, or code domain have been the main choices due to the limited processing capability in the transceiver hardware, as well as the modest traffic demands in both latency and connectivity. However, for the next generation radio systems, given its vision to connect everything and the much evolved hardware capability, NOMA has been identified as a promising technology to help achieve all the targets in system capacity, user connectivity, and service latency. This article provides a systematic overview of the state-of-theart design of the NOMA transmission based on a unified transceiver design framework, the related standardization progress, and some promising use cases in future cellular networks, based on which interested researchers can get a quick start in this area. In this paper, a novel cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system is proposed, where one near user is employed as decode-and-forward relaying switching between full-duplex (FD) and half-duplex (HD) mode to help a far user. Two representative cooperative relaying scenarios are investigated insightfully. The first scenario is that no direct link exists between the base station (BS) and far user. The second scenario is that the direct link exists between the BS and far user. To characterize the performance of potential gains brought by the FD NOMA in two considered scenarios, three performance metrics outage probability, ergodic rate, and energy efficiency are discussed. More particularly, we derive new closed-form expressions for both exact and asymptotic outage probabilities as well as delay-limited throughput for two NOMA users. Based on the derived results, the diversity orders achieved by users are obtained. We confirm that the use of direct link overcomes zero diversity order of far NOMA user inherent to FD relaying. In addition, we derive new closed-form expressions for asymptotic ergodic rates. Based on these, the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) slopes of two users for FD NOMA are obtained. Simulation results demonstrate that: 1) the FD NOMA is superior to the HD NOMA in terms of outage probability and ergodic sum rate in the low SNR region; and 2) in delay-limited transmission mode, the FD NOMA has higher energy efficiency than the HD NOMA in the low SNR region; However, in delay-tolerant transmission mode, the system energy efficiency of the HD NOMA exceeds the FD NOMA in the high SNR region. In this paper, pattern division multiple access (PDMA), which is a novel nonorthogonal multiple access scheme, is proposed for fifth-generation (5G) radio networks. The PDMA pattern defines the mapping of transmitted data to a resource group that can consist of time, frequency, and spatial resources or any combination of these resources. The pattern is introduced to differentiate signals of users sharing the same resources, and the pattern is designed with disparate diversity order and sparsity so that PDMA can take the advantage of the joint design of transmitter and receiver to improve system performance while maintaining detection complexity to a reasonable level. System level simulation results show that PDMA can support \textsix times simultaneous connections than that of conventional and at least \text30\% improvement in spectrum efficiency over orthogonal frequency division multiple access. For three-dimensional (3D) massive MIMO utilizing the uniform rectangular array (URA) in the base station (BS), we propose a limited feedback transmission scheme in which the channel state information (CSI) feedback operations for horizontal domain and vertical domain are separate. Compared to the traditional feedback scheme, the scheme can reduce the feedback overhead, code word index search complexity, and storage requirement. Also, based on the zenith of departure angle (ZoD) distribution in 3D-Urban Macro Cell (3D-UMa) and 3D-Urban Micro Cell (3D-UMi) scenarios, we propose the angle quantization codebook for vertical domain, while the codebook of long term evolution-advanced (LTE-Advanced) is still adopted in horizontal domain to preserve compatibility with the LTE-Advanced. Based on the angle quantization codebook, the subsampled 3-bit DFT codebook is designed for vertical domain. The system-level simulation results reveal that, to compromise the feedback overhead and system performance, 2-bit codebook for 3D-UMa scenario and 3-bit codebook for 3D-UMi scenario can meet requirements in vertical domain. Carrier phase measurement is a ranging technique that uses the receiver to determine the phase difference between the received signal and the transmitted signal. Carrier phase ranging has a high resolution; thus, it is an important research direction for high precision positioning. It is widely used in global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) systems but is not yet commonly used inwireless orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) systems. Applying carrier phase technology to OFDM systems can significantly improve positioning accuracy. Like GNSS carrier phase positioning, using the OFDM carrier phase for positioning has the following two problems. First, multipath and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation have severe effects on carrier phase measurements. Secondly, ambiguity resolution is also a primary issue in the carrier phase positioning. This paper presents a ranging scheme based on the carrier phase in a multipath environment. Moreover, an algorithm based on the extended Kalman filter (EKF) is developed for fast integer ambiguity resolution and NLOS error mitigation. The simulation results show that the EKF algorithm proposed in this paper solves the integer ambiguity quickly. Further, the high-resolution carrier phase measurements combined with the accurately estimated integer ambiguity lead to less than 30-centimeter positioning error for 90% of the terminals. Wireless powered communication technology has a great potential to power low-power wireless sensor networks and Internet of Things (IoT) for real-time applications in future 5G networks, where age of information (AoI) plays a very important performance metric. This paper studies the system average AoI of a wireless powered network, where a wireless-powered user harvests energy from a wireless power source (WPS) and then transmits data packets to its access point (AP) by using the harvested energy. The user generates data packets with some probability and adopts the first-come-first-served (FCFS) service policy. For such a system, by using the queuing theory and the probability models, we derive a closed-form expression of the system average AoI. We also formulate an optimization problem to minimize the AoI by optimizing the data packet generating probability, and find its solution by simple calculation and search. Simulation results demonstrate the correctness of our obtained analytical results. It also shows that, when the total distance of the two hops is fixed, the system average AoI increases linearly with the increment of the distance of the first hop, and a smaller data packet generating probability should be selected to match a bigger first-hop distance for achieving a smaller system average AoI.
