The article analyzes the relationship of postcards to notions of femininity in the turn-of-the-century Paris, France, particularly the depiction of women's nude bodies or women in a state of undress in postcards. The development of erotic postcards can be attributed to the need to attract male customers in line with the predominance of women collectors of postcards. It describes the work of postcard artist Raphael Kirchner who modeled the women in his postcards after his wife, Nina.
