This study aims to analyze Kolb's Learning Style (KLS) in solving HOTS questions for prospective physics teacher students. This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research are second semester students who have joined the Basic Physics course for Archimedes' Principle, amounting to 46 people. The instrument used was a Kolb's Learning Style (KLS) questionnaire, which consisted of 40 statement items, 8 essay questions about HOTS, and interview guidelines. Based on the results of the study, it showed that from the maximum percentage (100%) in each Kolb's Learning Style (KLS) obtained the combination of diverger and assimilator learning styles as the highest average percentage (65.63%) in solving HOTS questions correctly compared to the other learning styles. It is followed by the accomodator (56.25%), the combination of assimilator and converger (54.17%), diverger (53.41%), assimilator (49.22%), and converger (48.61%). There are differences in Kolb's Learning Style (KLS) in solving HOTS questions for prospective physics teacher students where students still experience errors in answering questions. The forms of incorrect answers given by students include: 1) Objects with a smaller surface area must be sink, 2) Heavy objects must be sink, 3) The amount of water affects the state of floating and sinking, 4) Hollow objects always float, and 5) Objects made of something hard must be sink. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the ability of prospective physics teacher students in solving HOTS questions must be trained by adjusting their learning styles.

BACKGROUND: Individualized patient education can help older people with diabetes to improve their self-care behaviors and effectively manage their disease. Identifying patients' preferred learning style can be a useful way to optimize learning opportunities. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of education based on Kolb's learning style on selfcare behaviors of older people with type II diabetes. METHODS: This randomized clinical trial was conducted on 62 older adults with type II diabetes referred to the diabetes center of Imam Reza Hospital in Bojnourd, Iran, from May to November 2020. Participants who met the inclusion criteria were randomly allocated into two groups of intervention (n=34) and control (n=28). Participants in intervention group received the educational intervention based on their learning style (described by Kolb as accommodating, diverging, converging and assimilating) in four 45 minutes-sessions (two sessions per week). In the control group, the same educational content was presented with a lecture and a booklet. Participants in both groups completed the self-care questionnaires before and one month after the intervention. RESULTS: The mean self-care scores of the older adult patients with type II diabetes based on Kolb's learning style after the educational intervention in the intervention and control groups were 58.15 (SD=10.71) and 44.7 (SD=12.12), respectively (P<0.001). Accommodating Kolb's learning stylebased education was most effective in improving self-care practice in older adult patients with type II diabetes (P<0.001). CONCLUSION: Education based on Kolb's learning style is effective in improving self-care behaviors of older people with type II diabetes. Therefore, it is suggested to consider Kolb's learning style in the educational process of older adults with type II diabetes to improve self-care practice in these patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: This research was aimed to (1) determine the influence of guided inquiry strategy against high-level thinking skills of students and (2) determine the influence of learning styles diverging, assimilating, accommodating, and converging towards a high level thinking skills of students. This research is a quasy experiment. Before starting learning, students were given learning style questionnaires by David Kolb. Students' high level thinking skill was measured through using validated HOTS instruments in the form of 20 multiple choice questions and 5 description questions including analytical skills (C4), evaluation (C5) and synthesis (C6). The results of this research showed that: (1) there was the influence of guided inquiry strategy on high-level thinking skills of students, (2) there was no effect of assimilating, accommodating, diverging and converging learning style towards a high level thinking skills of students, and (3) the students with diverging and assimilating learning styles have a positive response toward guided inquiry learning strategies, while students with accommodating learning styles had a positive response to verification learning. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengetahui adanya pengaruh strategi inkuiri terbimbing terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa dan (2) mengetahui adanya pengaruh gaya belajar diverging, assimilating, accommodating, dan converging terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu. Sebelum memulai pembelajaran, siswa diberikan angket gaya belajar yang dikembangkan oleh David Kolb. Kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa diukur menggunakan instrumen HOTS tervalidasi yang berupa soal 20 pilihan ganda dan 5 soal uraian mencakup kemampuan analisis (C4), evaluasi (C5) dan sintesis (C6). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) ada pengaruh strategi Inkuiri terbimbing terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa, (2) tidak ada pengaruh gaya belajar assimilating, accommodating, diverging, dan converging terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa, dan (3) siswa dengan gaya belajar diverging dan assimilating memiliki respon positif terhadap strategi pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing, sedangkan siswa dengan gaya belajar accommodating memiliki respon positif terhadap pembelajaran verifikasi.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of formative assessment and learning style on student achievement in a Web-based learning environment. A quasi-experimental research design was used. Participants were 455 seventh grade students from 12 classes of six junior high schools. A Web-based course, named BioCAL, combining three different formative assessment strategies was developed. The formative assessment strategies included Formative Assessment Module of the Web-Based Assessment and Test Analysis system (FAM-WATA) (with six Web-based formative assessment strategies), Normal Module of Web-Based Assessment and Test Analysis system (N-WATA) (only with partial Web-based formative assessment strategy) and Paper and Pencil Test (PPT) (without Web-based formative assessment strategy). Subjects were tested using Kolb's Learning Style Inventory, and assigned randomly by class into three groups. Each group took Web-based courses using one of the formative assessment strategies. Pre- and post-achievement testing was carried out. A one-way ANCOVA analysis showed that both learning style and formative assessment strategy are significant factors affecting student achievement in a Web-based learning environment. However, there is no interaction between these two factors. A post hoc comparison showed that performances of the FAM-WATA group are higher than the N-WATA and PPT groups. Learners with a ‘Diverger’ learning style performed best followed by, ‘Assimilator’, ‘Accommodator’, and ‘Converger’, respectively. Navigational features are a very important aspect of any hypermedia/ multimedia product. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Kolb's learning style on the use of various navigational features during the authoring (or creation) of a hypermedia/multimedia project. Studies have demonstrated that student performances improve, and attitudes toward learning situations are positive, when learning styles are taken into consideration. This paper looks at the relationship between the selection of media in multimedia and a person's learning style (as determined by Kolb's learning style). Five sections of undergraduate multimedia classes in The College of Professional Studies at The University of West Florida, Pensacola, Florida, were surveyed. A sample of 100 (n=100) was collected.
