The interconnection between water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) exerts a significant influence on the health outcomes of global societies. This study examines the complex relationship between water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) within the framework of global health. It specifically highlights the difficulties, prospects, and capacity for significant change that this relationship presents. In a global context characterised by enduring issues such as limited access to water resources, insufficient sanitation infrastructure, and suboptimal hygiene practises, the demand for creative and groundbreaking remedies has become increasingly urgent. This study explores the various complex aspects of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), analysing its direct and indirect influence on health, nutrition, education, and economic advancement. The significance of AquaLives lies in emphasising the pressing need to accomplish the targets set by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) pertaining to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) within the timeframe of 2030. This study analyses case studies and best practises from different countries, providing insights into effective strategies that can potentially revolutionise communities’ access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education. this research study explores the interconnections between Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives and the growing global health concerns, including the readiness for pandemics and the adaptation to climate change. In Iraq, an extensive network of pipelines is of vital importance for the transportation of hydrocarbon products, drinking water, and crude oil through the pipelines. The underground infrastructures experience corrosion processes, which therefore requires keeping up with the application of protective measures. This is a simulation survey that takes into account the cathodic protection optimization to reduce such hazards. Employing the Wenner four-terminal method enabled assessment of elements that affect cathodic protection such as environmental factors and soil resistivity across selected sites for the surveys. Soil pH ranges within the range of 7-8, together with anode voltage and current readings were the basis of the simulation models. These models played a crucial role in predicting the best anode locations, operating voltages and currents for various conditions and by comparing the results with empirical data from field experiments it is easy to evaluate the results. The analysis of rectifier voltage, the number of anodes, the anode resistance, and the pipeline current led to the production of the most cost-efficient designs for pipeline protection. Thus, as a result, a segment at station number 2 requires 2.5A current for its protection over the same length and a segment at station number 4 needs 12A current for its protection. Through the integration of simulation outcomes with the field observation the study highlights the accuracy and efficiency of the modeled cathodic protection systems that substantiate their fundamental role in the sustainable management of the pipeline. The results reached in this study add a great deal to this body of knowledge on the subject of subterranean structure preservation, showing this paradigm for the design and optimization of cathodic protection systems against corrosion and erosion which ensures the durability and reliability of pipeline networks. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system ensures that the solar cell operates at its maximum power point, which is the point at which it produces the most power for a given set of conditions. This study uses an artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm and particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithms to optimize the boost converter. The ABC and PSO algorithms help to optimize the boost converter by finding the best possible duty cycle and other parameters that maximize efficiency. The resulting duty cycle of 20% produced the highest efficiency of 78.26% obtained from the boost converter. A system-wide test was conducted between 9:00 and 11:10 WIB. In MPPT systems using boost converters with the PSO algorithm, the average power is 16.80 W, while in MPPT systems using boost converters with the ABC algorithm, the average power is 14.53 W. The novelty of the study discusses a system designed to optimize power by using a boost converter in order to increase power output from solar panels. The algorithms PSO and ABC are used to analyze the data from the PV and adjust the converter parameters to optimize the output in order to increase the efficiency of the system. As a following of scientific research that dealt with improving the thermal performance of thermal systems, this research means testing the overall performance of a thermal system by applying the effects of obstacles and the presence of nanoparticles in the flowing fluid. In a rectangular channel with three different-height triangular obstacles (4 µm, 6 µm, and 8 µm), a numerical study is conducted to examine the friction features and heat transfer enhancement for a 2D laminar flow and heat transfer. ANSYS Fluent 2022 has been used for the simulation. This work focuses on the use of nanoparticles (NPs), the existence of obstacles, and their impact on the thermal system's rate of heat transfer. The volume fraction of nano-particles (Ag) ranges from 2 to 6 percent, and their sizes are 25, 50, and 75 nm. With a NP diameter of 25 nm and an obstacle height of 8 µm, the results indicate that 6% is the optimal volume fraction, giving the largest values of heat transfer for all the obstacle heights tested. Experiments have also proved that increasing the flow velocity (increasing the value of the Reynolds number) gives the highest results for heat transfer. On the other hand, with regard to pressure drop, the values of Cf and obstacle height have been 8 µm and at 6% of volume fraction for all velocities. Fresh water production from saline or waste water utilizing solar stills is the secured future approach in water industry with low cost and no environmental pollution accompanied with low productivity. In this work, the effect of inserting different available materials in a passive Single Slope Solar SSS stills on their productivity is accomplished. Side by side tests are performed on a conventional still, and three SSS stills inserted with carbon filter media, Copper wire mesh, and Cellulose sheets. All these stills are symmetrical in dimensions with 0.5 m2 base area tested for 20mm water level. The stills have been manufactured, instrumented, and tested in July 2021 under DhiQar-Iraq climate conditions (latitude 31.2° N, longitude 46.34° E). The effect of sunny days ambient conditions on the hourly thermal performance including temperature, pressure, heat transfer coefficients, and still efficiency are explored. Results have showed that these materials store energy from the incident solar radiation during the daytime and have extended their yield at first night hours so increasing the still daily distillate output. The freshwater daily yield has reached 4753g, 2465 g, and 2080 g, for stills inserted with copper wire mesh, carbon fiber, and cellulose sheets respectively compared with (1000 g) for the conventional still. Electrokinetic micropumps receive increasing attention due to their applications in pumping of biological and chemical fluids; such as blood, DNA, and saline PBSs. In this paper, the electroosmotic flow in square microchannels has been numerically investigated by developing a model from the basic governing equations (continuity, momentum, energy, Laplace and Poisson- Boltzmann equations). These equations were numerically solved by CFD program for two fluids (water and PBS). The study considered the external applied electric field and zeta potential to interrogate their potential effects on electroosmotic flow. Thermal characteristics of electroosmotic flow have been also studied by calculating the temperature distribution through electroosmosis micropump region. The results confirm the considerable effect of applied electric field, concentration of electrolyte fluid and zeta potential on microflow velocity and flow rate. The PBS gave higher velocity and flow rate values compared with water, and there was only a slight increase in temperature due to Joule heating effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, are becoming increasingly popular due to their environmentally friendly and sustainable nature. However, one major challenge associated with these systems is their intermittent nature, which makes it difficult to rely on them as a consistent source of energy. To address this challenge, researchers have developed a combined system that incorporates wind and solar resources with a battery as a storage device, which can provide a sample load pattern independent of the grid. The primary objective of this system is to determine the optimal economic combination of these resources, which can ensure a reliable and consistent supply of electricity. To achieve this objective, the Cuckoo Optimization Algorithm (COA), a metaheuristic optimization algorithm, has been used to optimize the system. The objective function has been implemented in accordance with the constraints, and the results provide insight into the optimal combination of resources. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the design and optimization of a wind-solar hybrid energy system with battery storage, using the COA, as well as the results of this analysis. The outcomes indicated that the optimal hybrid system model may be able to reduce system costs by 10–25%.
