Background Adequate gestational weight gain (GWG) is critical for maternal and child health. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) standard has long been adopted in clinical practice to guide GWG in China. Since October 2022, China has officially promulgated and adopted the Standard of Recommendation for Weight Gain during Pregnancy Period (WS/T 801-2022) (herein after referred to as SRWGPP) to guide GWG. Objective To compare the distribution of GWG recommended by the SRWGPP and IOM used for Chinese singleton pregnant women and associated adverse pregnancy outcomes, providing clinical evidence for further application of the SRWGPP. Methods The data of this study were from a prospective cohort study involving singleton pregnant women who gave birth in Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Capital Medical University from May 2020 to September 2021 and participated in the Beijing Birth Cohort Study (registration number: ChiCTR220058395) . Baseline information was collected from the participants, and the incidence of pregnancy complications and outcomes was obtained from the clinical health record system. We compared the distribution of GWG of the participants based on the criteria by the SRWGPP and the IOM guidelines. Then we divided the participants into five groups: insufficient weight gain (IOM+IW) , insufficient weight gain+appropriate weight gain (IOM+IW+AW) , appropriate weight gain (IOM+AW) , appropriate weight gain+ excessive weight gain (IOM+AW+EW) , and excessive weight gain (IOM+EW) . The risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes〔large for gestational age (LGA) , small for gestational age (SGA) , macrosomia, low birth weight, and preterm birth〕 was analyzed after adjusting for confounding factors. Results A total of 11 839 singleton pregnant women were included. The proportions of women with insufficient, appropriate, and excessive GWG were 36.7% (4 339/11 839) , 38.9% (4 601/11 839) , and 24.5% (2 899/11 839) , respectively, according to the IOM standard, and were 16.2% (1 913/11 839) , 45.0% (5 332/11 839) , and 38.8% (4 594/11 839) , respectively, according to the SRWGPP. The proportions of pregnant women in groups of IOM+IW, IOM+IW+AW, IOM+AW, IOM+AW+EW and IOM+EW were 16.2% (1 913/11 839) , 20.5% (2 426/11 839) , 24.6% (2 907/11 839) , 14.3% (1 694/11 839) and 24.5% (2 899/11 839) , respectively. Circular RNA (CircRNA)–microRNA (miRNA) interaction (CMI) is an important model for the regulation of biological processes by non-coding RNA (ncRNA), which provides a new perspective for the study of human complex diseases. However, the existing CMI prediction models mainly rely on the nearest neighbor structure in the biological network, ignoring the molecular network topology, so it is difficult to improve the prediction performance. In this paper, we proposed a new CMI prediction method, BEROLECMI, which uses molecular sequence attributes, molecular self-similarity, and biological network topology to define the specific role feature representation for molecules to infer the new CMI. BEROLECMI effectively makes up for the lack of network topology in the CMI prediction model and achieves the highest prediction performance in three commonly used data sets. Objective To dynamically observe the changes in hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) and Bcl-2/adenovirus E1B19kDa-interacting protein 3 (BNIP3) in children with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and evaluate their clinical value in predicting the severity and prognosis of pediatric TBI. Methods A prospective study included 47 children with moderate to severe TBI from January 2021 to July 2023, categorized into moderate (scores 9-12) and severe (scores 3-8) subgroups based on the Glasgow Coma Scale. A control group consisted of 30 children diagnosed and treated for inguinal hernia during the same period, with no underlying diseases. The levels of HIF-1α, BNIP3, autophagy- related protein Beclin-1, and S100B were compared among groups. The predictive value of HIF-1α, BNIP3, Beclin-1, and S100B for the severity and prognosis of TBI was assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Results Serum levels of HIF-1α, BNIP3, Beclin-1, and S100B in the TBI group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Among the TBI patients, the severe subgroup had higher levels of HIF-1α, BNIP3, Beclin-1, and S100B than the moderate subgroup (P<0.05). Correlation analysis showed that the serum levels of HIF-1α, BNIP3, Beclin-1, and S100B wcrc negatively correlated with the Glasgow Coma Scalc scorcs (P<0.05). After 7 days of treatment, scrum levels of HIF-1α, BNIP3, Beclin-1, and S100B in both non-surgical and surgical TBI patients decreased compared to before treatment (P<0.05). ROC curve analysis indicated that the areas under the curve for predicting severe TBI based on scrum levels of HIF-1α, BNIP3, Beclin-1, and S100B wcrc 0.782, 0.835, 0.872, and 0.880, respectively (P<0.05), and for predicting poor prognosis of TBI wcrc 0.749, 0.775, 0.814, and 0.751, respectively (P<0.05). Conclusions Scrum levels of HIF-1α, BNIP3, and Beclin-1 arc significantly elevated in children with TBI, and their measurement can aid in the clinical assessment of the severity and prognosis of pediatric TBI. The calculation of active earth pressure has commonly been performed under dry or saturated conditions. However, in practice soils are usually unsaturated. With the aim of estimating active earth pressure under steady unsaturated flow conditions, this paper describes a new method within the framework of the kinematic approach of limit analysis. A closed-form formula is adopted to estimate the suction stress of unsaturated soils subjected to vertical steady flow. A rotational failure mechanism composed of a log-spiral curve and a vertical crack is presented for calculations of the external work rate and internal energy dissipation rate. Pre-existing cracks as well as cracks that form as part of the failure mechanism are considered in the present work. The maximum depth of cracks is determined by requiring the vertical crack boundary to be stable. Explicit expressions about the thrust of active earth pressure for different crack types are derived from the work-energy balance equation, and the most critical solutions are obtained by optimizing the variables from the failure mechanism. Numerical results for different parameters are calculated and given in the form of graphs for practical use. A parametric study is performed to investigate the impact of different parameters on the active earth pressure.Key words: active earth pressure, cracks, steady unsaturated flow conditions, limit analysis.Le calcul de la pression active du sol a ete effectue generalement dans des conditions seches ou saturees. Cependant, dans la pratique, les sols sont generalement insatures. Visant l'estimation de la pression de la terre active dans des conditions d'ecoulement insature constant, cet article decrit une nouvelle methode dans le cadre de l'approche cinematique de l'analyse de la limite. Une formule en forme fermee est adoptee pour estimer la contrainte d'aspiration des sols insatures soumis a un ecoulement vertical constant. Un mecanisme de rupture de rotation compose d'une courbe log-spirale et d'une fissure verticale est presente pour les calculs du taux de travail externe et du taux de dissipation d'energie interne. Les fissures preexistantes, ainsi que les fissures qui font partie du mecanisme de rupture, sont prises en consideration dans le present travail. La profondeur maximale des fissures est determinee en exigeant que la limite de la fissure verticale soit stable. Des expressions explicites de la poussee de la pression de la terre active pour differents types de fissures sont derivees de l'equation d'equilibre travail-energie, et les solutions les plus critiques s'obtiennent en optimisant les variables du mecanisme de rupture. This paper presents an analytical framework for predicting three-dimensional (3D) seismic active earth pressures for soils governed by a nonlinear strength criterion. The kinematic limit analysis method that incorporates a pseudodynamic approach is used to carry out the analysis. A generalized tangential technique is adopted to realize transition of the nonlinear criterion into the commonly used linear form. A 3D failure mechanism of rigid rotation is employed. Because the use of the modified pseudodynamic approach leads to a variation of seismic forces along the depth, the work rate due to earthquake effects is calculated by using a horizontal layer–wise summation method. By virtue of the balance equation of work and energy, the thrust of active earth pressures is determined, and the final solutions are expressed as dimensionless active earth pressure coefficients. A comparison between the solutions obtained in this paper and those of the existing studies shows the effectiveness of the developed method. A parametric analysis is carried out to investigate the influences of several parameters. The findings of this work can help understand the service behavior of retaining structures subjected to seismic loadings, which could provide references for designs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
