Due to the unbalanced load connection in the sensitive load bus (SLB), the ac microgrid may suffer from voltage unbalance in the system. To overcome this issue, this article presents a new distributed control scheme to achieve the unbalanced voltage compensation for islanded ac microgrid with limited noncontinuous communication among the distributed generation (DG) units. In this article, a two-layer control framework, including the cyber layer and the primary control layer, is employed. The proposed control strategy that is applied in the cyber layer implements an event-triggered communication to effectively compensate for the unbalanced voltage in the SLB. In contrast with the centralized control strategy, the proposed control strategy is fully distributed, and the information exchange among the DG units at only the event-triggered times. As a result, the communication burdens can be measurably reduced while the control performance is not affected. The stability is analyzed with the Lyapunov function in this article. Due to the mismatched line resistance in the modular online uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, accurate active power and harmonic power sharing is an arduous work. To tackle this issue, this article proposes a distributed dynamic event-triggered control for the power sharing to accurately compensate the effect of mismatch among the line resistances. Benefiting from the proposed control strategy, the UPS modules adaptively regulate the virtual resistance at the fundamental and harmonic frequencies, and hence, the accurate active power and harmonic power sharing are achieved. In addition, the suggested technique allows the UPS modules to exchange information at only the event-triggered times, which greatly reduces the number of communication among the neighboring units. Furthermore, the system's stability is analyzed using a Lyapunov function. Finally, experimental case studies are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed control strategy, showing its effectiveness in achieving the accurate power sharing, and plug-and-play capability. Due to the proliferation of critical nonlinear loads in the islanded AC microgrids, the power quality improvement at the sensitive load bus (SLB) is a challenging task. To deal with this issue, a distributed event-triggered control strategy for the voltage harmonic compensation is proposed in this paper. By applying the proposed strategy, the distributed generator (DG) units can be employed in a distributed way to compensate for the harmonic voltage at the SLB. As a result, the power quality at the SLB is greatly improved. In addition, the suggested technique allows the SLB voltage to be measured by one or several dedicated DG units for the voltage harmonic compensation, which increases the system’s robustness. Due to the attack signal injection on the DC microgrid system, voltage regulation and current sharing cannot be guaranteed and the overall system may even be destabilized. To solve this problem, a generalized extended state observer (GESO)-based distributed attack-resilient control method is proposed for DC microgrids in this paper. The presented control scheme can detect and mitigate the unknown dc/low-frequency/grid-frequency attack signals while achieving voltage regulation and accurate current sharing among distributed generation (DG) units. In addition, benefiting from employing the proposed distributed control strategy, the information exchange among the DG units is updated in an aperiodic way. As a result, the communication burden of the DC microgrid communication network can be greatly reduced. The stability of the proposed method is verified by the Lyapunov function, and no Zeno behavior will exist. For several reasons, particularly due to the mismatch in the feeder impedance, accurate power sharing in islanded microgrids is a challenging task. To get around this problem, a distributed event-triggered power sharing control strategy is proposed in this article. The suggested technique adaptively regulates the virtual impedances at both fundamental positive/negative sequence and harmonic frequencies and, therefore, accurately share the reactive, unbalanced, and harmonics powers among distributed generation units. The proposed method requires no information of feeder impedance and involves exchanging information among units at only event-triggered times, which reduces the communication burden without affecting the system performance. In this article, a novel hybrid voltage/current control scheme with low-communication burden is proposed for series-type inverters in a decentralized manner. All the inverter units are controlled by their individual local controllers without a real-time central global-communication. Among them, a few inverters serve as the current controlled inverters (CCIs) to regulate the grid current, and the rest inverters work as the voltage controlled inverters (VCIs). Under this control architecture, five main control targets are achieved: 1) frequency self-synchronization of each VCI inverter based on local current phase-angle signals; 2) fault-tolerant capability of all inverters without one-to-all-failure; 3) high disturbance-rejection-capability to grid variations; 4) adjustable grid power factor; and 5) independent power control for inverters with unbalanced power sources. As the central high-bandwidth communication is avoided, it has the features of decreased cost, increased scalability, and reduced geographic restrictions of inverters. Compared with conventional decentralized approaches, only a few CCI units acquire the grid phase-angle signal to achieve grid synchronization by communication, and the most VCI units are local self-synchronization via the local line-current-phase signal rather than real-time grid-voltage-phase communication signal. Thus, the proposed control can be realized with a very low-communication burden, which is more cost-effective and higher reliability in terms of communication faults. The feasibility of the proposed method is verified by experimental results of eight different cases, such as source power change, large power gap, grid voltage/frequency deviation, grid harmonics, and one-fault redundancy. In this paper, we analyze the existence and stability of equilibrium of dc micro-grids under the master-slave control (where some distributed generations (DGs) are under droop control with dual-loop (Droop-DGs) and some DGs are under MPPT control (MPPT-DGs)). Firstly, the power-flow equation of the dc micro-grids under master-slave control with CPLs is obtained. Then, we transform the solvability of the power-flow equation into the existence of a fixed point for a contraction mapping. Based on Banach's fixed point theorem, a sufficient condition to guarantee the existence of the power-flow solution in dc micro-grids is derived. The condition derived in this paper is not only useful for master-slave control but also for droop control. Besides, to calculate the power-flow solution, an iterative algorithm with exponential convergence rate is proposed. Secondly, we use a singular perturbation model to predict the qualitative behavior of the system near the equilibrium point. By analyzing eigenvalues of the boundary layer system and reduced-order system Jacobian matrix, the robust stable analytic conditions of the system are obtained. The effect of the sampling delay on the system stability is analyzed, the robust stability condition is obtained by using linear matrix inequality. Due to the droop control applied in islanded DC microgrids, DC bus voltage recovery, and current sharing cannot be guaranteed simultaneously. To solve this problem, a distributed dynamic event-triggered control method is proposed in this paper. The presented control scheme can remove DC bus voltage deviation while achieving the current sharing among distributed generation (DG) units. In addition, the proposed method requires no global information, and only the DC bus voltage from the physical network is needed. Moreover, the data of neighboring DGs at only event-triggered times are involved, which greatly reduces the communication burden of the DC microgrid communication network. Dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) plays an essential role in achieving high‐quality voltage restoration in the distribution system. This paper presents an elliptical‐trajectory‐based approach to guarantee continuous power delivery by considering the active and reactive power limits during voltage sags. Besides, two parameters are proposed in the accurate mathematical analysis of current references. Thus, the control objective can be fulfilled by the flexible current injection strategy that combines a precise balance between the positive and negative sequences. The proposed control method can determine the required power injections by selecting the two proper values to support that the converter output current is smaller than the maximum rated value. Under the presented control, the maximum power limit and flexible power dispatch are combined together to develop four operation schemes. The main advantage is the smooth transition process during changes in the operation schemes and the disappearance of active and reactive power oscillations. Also, these four control states are applied to reveal the flexibility of the proposed designs. This article presents a reduced-order generalized proportional-integral observer based resonant super-twisting sliding mode controller (RST-SMC) for the three-phase ac–dc converters. On the contrary to utilizing the proportional-integral controller in regulating the dc-link voltage, which may cause large undershoot/overshoot under the disturbance, the proposed voltage control strategy for the dc-link has high disturbance rejection ability and the settling time has been greatly reduced. In addition, the proposed RST-SMC in the current control loop not only preserve the merits of the sliding mode controller but also achieve the current tracking without steady-state error in the stationary αβ frame. A virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control based on adaptive virtual inertia is proposed to improve dynamic frequency regulation of microgrid. When the system frequency deviates from the nominal steady-state value, the adaptive inertia control can exhibit a large inertia to slow the dynamic process and, thus, improve frequency nadir. And when the system frequency starts to return, a small inertia is shaped to accelerate system dynamics with a quick transient process. As a result, this flexible inertia property combines the merits of large inertia and small inertia, which contributes to the improvement of dynamic frequency response. The stability of the proposed algorithm is proved by Lyapunov stability theory, and the guidelines on the key control parameters are provided. This study proposes a decentralized coordination control scheme for series-connected H-bridge rectifiers. Each rectifier module is controlled as a voltage-controlled source by a local controller, which needs only individual information. The local controller is composed of an active power-frequency (P-ω) control and a fixed voltage amplitude control. Compared to the conventional methods based multi-level phase-shifting modulation where centralized controller is needed, the proposed control strategy allows indefinite modular expansion without increasing the computational load of the local controller. Therefore, it has decreased cost and increased scalability. The synchronization mechanism of series modules is analyzed and the stability of the system is proved. In this paper, a regeneration protection solution is proposed to address the dc-link overvoltage issue and the unequal power sharing in the parallel uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. First, a dc-link voltage protection control strategy is proposed to protect the inverter against the excessive dc-link voltage that may trigger the protection mechanism of the UPS system. In addition, an active power-sharing control strategy by regulating the virtual resistance is proposed to solve the circulating current caused by UPS regeneration issue. In this paper, a dc-link voltage protection (DCVP) control method is proposed to address the dc-link overvoltage issue due to power backfeeding in a parallel uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system. The proposed control method is able to protect the inverter against the excessive dc-link voltage, which increases the system reliability and robustness. Moreover, a current sharing control strategy is proposed by online regulating the virtual resistance of each UPS module. The proposed current sharing control strategy is able to address the circulating fundamental and harmonic currents caused by the line impedance mismatching or power backfeeding issue in the UPS system. In addition, an improved consensus-based distributed controller is proposed to alleviate the overshoot issue during the transient process in voltage amplitude and frequency restoration. To regulate the dc-link voltage of three-phase ac/dc converters, an enhanced state observer-based controller is presented in this letter.
