In this article was investigated the development progressive fatigue dynamic of isolated natively musculus gastrocnemius medialis during tetanic contraction in alcoholic rats (n = 15). Registration of tetanic contraction of the isolated muscular preparation was registered in the isometric mode, during it’s direct electric stimulation. The results of research shows the absence of significant changes in isolated natively musculus gastrocnemius medialis development progressive fatigue in alcoholic rats, in comparison to intact animals.

Мета роботи – провести аналіз гістологічних змін у литковому м’язі за умов експериментальної ішемії різної тривалості, за умови внутрішньочеревного введення С60 фулеренів в ролі антиоксиданта. Експеримент реалізовано на щурах інбредної лінії Wistar масою 140–160 г. Виділено такі групи тварин: контрольна, тварини з ішемією (1, 2 та 3 год), тварини з ішемію (1, 2 та 3 год) та за умови внутрішньочеревного введення С60 фулеренів. Гістологічну обробку тканини проводили за загальноприйнятою методикою, фарбувалили за методом Ван-Гізон. Проаналізовано морфологічні особливості ішемізованих м’язових волокон musculus gastrocnemius різної тривалості та терапевтичного впливу водного колоїдного розчину С60 фулеренів на ступінь вираженості патоморфологічних змін у такому м’язі. Встановлено, що литковий м’яз є стійким до ішемічних пошкоджень легкого ступеня за умов внутрішньочеревного введення С60 фулеренів, які є потужними антиоксидантами та здатні ефективно поглинати вільні радикали. Проте, дослідження показали, що зі збільшенням тривалості ішемічного ушкодження захисна дія фулеренів пропорційно зменшується до тривалості дії ішемії. Зокрема, простежується початкова тенденція до руйнації м’язових волокон, порушення цілісності мембрани, спостерігається заміщення м’язевої тканини сполучною, розрив саркомерів, встрата поперечної посмугованості, відсутність ядер, гіперемія капілярного русла, а також відмічаються некротично-деструктивні зміни, які відбуваються за рахунок надлишку не інактивованих супероксид- і гідроксид-радикалів. Таким чином, проведене лабораторне дослідження може слугувати підґрунтям для розробки лікарських препаратів проти м’язових патологій, а також сприятиме розробці комплексної методики лікування ранніх етапів ішемічного пошкодження скелетних м’язів людини.

Kendo is a high load-type sport, especially for the lower leg muscles. The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in the hardness of the gastrocnemius medialis (GM) using real-time tissue elastography (RTE) during training at a Kendo training camp. Eleven college male Kendo athletes participated in a 5-day Kendo training camp, and the hardness of the GM, the circumference of the lower legs, and the ankle range of motion (ROM) were examined during the course of training. The strain ratio of the GM to a reference material was used to estimate changes in muscle hardness during the training period. The results showed that the strain ratio of the GM significantly increased at days 3, 4, and 5, in comparison to the baseline values obtained prior to training (p < 0.05), indicating that the hardness of the GM increased after high-intensity exercise. Meanwhile, the circumference of the lower leg did not change over the course of training; while the ROM values significantly decreased at days 4 and 5 relative to the baseline, suggesting the increased muscle hardness resulted from increased muscle stiffness. These results suggest the muscle hardness of athletes who engage in repetitious high load-type sports are tense on the next day of hard training, and the hardness continues, as in this case, until the last day of camp. In addition, RTE measurements of muscle hardness may allow a more sensitive detection of changes in muscle properties than what is possible with ROM measurements.

In the present case, the plantaris tendon was ruptured in isolation and at the distal part of the tendon. An injury of the Achilles tendon, gastrocnemius muscle, or soleus muscle was not detected. To the best of our knowledge, a similar case has not yet been reported. Our case basically demonstrates that a rupture of the musculus plantaris does not have to occur at the myotendiouns junction or the muscle belly itself. The initial nonoperative treatment with physiotherapy, antiinflammatory medicine, and an early return to sports, even for this more distal plantaris tendon rupture, led to a good result.
