This paper presents novel power-efficient designs of quaternary logic gates like Quaternary Minimum (QMIN) and Quaternary Maximum (QMAX), Standard Quaternary Inverter (SQI), Standard Quaternary NAND (SQNAND), Standard Quaternary NOR (SQNOR) and Standard Quaternary XOR (SQXOR) using Carbon Nanotube Field Effect Transistor (CNTFET). The designs are based on Pass Transistor Logic (PTL) and use only three types of Carbon Nanotube (CNT) diameters 0.626 nm, 1.018 nm, and 2.27 nm, which lead to lower fabrication costs and enhanced manufacturability when compared to the state-of-the-art designs. The designs are simulated in HSPICE with a 32 nm CNTFET model provided by Stanford University, and the average power and maximum propagation delay obtained from the simulation results are compared with other existing designs. It shows that the proposed designs require 75% to 90% less power and they achieve 73% to 91% less Power Delay Product (PDP) than the latest designs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a simple carbon nanotube field effect transistor (CNTFET)-based inverter has been simulated and the impacts of changing various design and process parameters on its characteristics and performance have been analysed using HSPICE. The 32 nm CNTFET model of Stanford University has been used here for the simulation of the inverter. The simulation results and the voltage transfer characteristics (VTC) curve of the inverter have been extracted for (i) different channel lengths, (ii) top gate di-electric material thickness (tox), (iii) pitch value (iv) the number of tubes in CNTFET channel region and (v) chirality of the CNT. It has been observed that the VTC curve changes significantly with different values of these parameters. Some important output parameters like maximum dc current, power, rise time, fall time, average propagation delay, etc. have been measured in each case. Changes in maximum power consumption value due to the change in different parameter values are observed through plotted graphs. Output dc current vs. input voltage graphs have been plotted for different chirality of the tubes, the number of the tubes, and pitch values between n-type CNTFET and p-type CNTFET of the inverter. Oral and maxillofacial surgeries associated with complications due to endotracheal tube (ETT) damage are being reported in literature increasingly. In this case, we report a rare case of accidental perforation of a flexometallic ETT intraoperatively during an orthognathic corrective surgery, in a 19-year-old female patient in whom submental intubation had been performed. The complication was managed conservatively as the tissue debris created during the osteotomy drilling occluded the damage and caused a good seal of the damage, with minimal leak, and no airway compromise. The purpose of this article is to highlight these hazards and discuss alternative airway management approaches so that anesthesiologists can recognize these complications and be prepared to deal with them in a proper manner. Currently, there is an unmet need for treatments promoting post-stroke functional recovery. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the dose-dependent effect of delayed atomoxetine or fluoxetine therapy (starting on post-stroke day 5), coupled with limited physical exercise (2 hours daily voluntary wheel running; post-stroke days 9 to 42), on motor recovery of adult male mice after photothrombotic stroke. These drugs are selective norepinephrine or serotonin reuptake inhibitors indicated for disorders unrelated to stroke. The predetermined primary end-point for this study was motor function measured in two tasks of spontaneous motor behaviors in grid-walking and cylinder tests. Additionally, we quantified the running distance and speed throughout the study, the number of parvalbumin-positive neurons in the medial agranular cortex and infarct volumes. Both sensorimotor tests revealed that neither limited physical exercise nor a drug treatment alone significantly facilitated motor recovery in mice after stroke. However, combination of physical exercise with either of the drugs promoted restoration of motor function by day 42 post-stroke, with atomoxetine being a more potent drug. This was accompanied by a significant decrease in parvalbumin-positive inhibitory interneurons in the ipsilateral medial agranular cortex of mice with recovering motor function, while infarct volumes were comparable among experimental groups. If further validated in larger studies, our observations suggest that add-on atomoxetine or fluoxetine therapy coupled with limited, structured physical rehabilitation could offer therapeutic modality for stroke survivors who have difficulty to engage in early, high-intensity physiotherapy. Furthermore, in light of the recently completed Assessment oF FluoxetINe In sTroke recoverY (AFFINITY) and Efficacy oF Fluoxetine-a randomisEd Controlled Trial in Stroke (EFFECTS) trials, our observations call for newly designed studies where fluoxetine or atomoxetine pharmacotherapy is evaluated in combination with structured physical rehabilitation rather than alone.
