Chloramphenicol is a widely used bactericide and highly effective antibiotic in aquaculture and livestock breeding. To protect human health, detecting chloramphenicol residues in animal-derived food products has become increasingly important. This review introduces the properties of chloramphenicol, the limit standards, and the hazards of residual chloramphenicol in animal-derived food products. Furthermore, it describes commonly used chloramphenicol detection methods. In addition, the review thoroughly analyzes and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of different detection methods, outlining methods to improve the efficiency and precision of chloramphenicol detection to ensure the quality and safety of animal-derived food products. Finally, the prospects for developing advanced detection techniques and analytical methods are prospected.

A novel co-bonded octyl and pyridine silica (OPS) sorbent was prepared and applied for the solid phase extraction (SPE) of cyclopiazonic acid (CPA, a type of mycotoxin) in feed and agricultural products for the first time. A simple mixed-ligand one-pot reaction strategy was employed for OPS sorbent preparation. Nitrogen adsorption–desorption measurements, elemental analysis (EI), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis demonstrated the successful immobilization of octyl and quaternary ammonium groups onto the surface of silica gel. The large specific surface area, high-density functional groups, and mixed-mode anion-exchange characteristics of these silica particles made them the ideal material for the efficient extraction of CPA. Additionally, the OPS sorbents displayed excellent batch-to-batch reproducibility, satisfactory reusability, and low cost. The SPE parameters were optimized to explore the ionic and hydrophobic interactions between CPA and the functional groups, and the ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) parameters were optimized to obtain a desirable extraction efficiency and high sensitivity to CPA. Meanwhile, the OPS sorbent presented a satisfactory extraction selectivity and low matrix effect. Under the optimized conditions, our developed CPA detection method was used to determine CPA level in rice, wheat flour, corn flour, peanut, and feed samples, exhibiting a lower detection limit, better linearity, higher sensitivity, and satisfactory extraction recovery rate than previously reported methods. Highly stable and photoluminescent methylammonium lead halide perovskite quantum dots (MAPbBr3 PQDs) have been synthesized and applied for the fluorescence quenching detection of clothianidin in fruit and vegetable samples. Characterizations using different techniques, including photoluminescence (PL), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and time-resolved PL (TRPL), show that static quenching is the dominant fluorescence quenching mechanism of MAPbBr3 PQDs with clothianidin. Hydrogen bonds or van der Waals forces play major roles in the MAPbBr3 PQDs–clothianidin interaction. Under optimized conditions, the relative PL intensity of MAPbBr3 PQDs is linear to the concentration of clothianidin in the 0.0 and 20.0 mg/L range with a detection limit of 0.17 μg/kg. Excellent recoveries of 79.5–115.4% were acquired for radish and banana samples with a relative standard deviation below 9.4%. These results indicate that PQDs can be used for qualitative and quantitative identification of clothianidin, providing an effective detection method for risk prevention and control of neonicotinoid pesticide residues in agricultural products. In the current study, an effective and simple procedure of extraction for the four benzophenone compounds from water samples was achieved by dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) based on the solidification of floating organic droplets (SFO) with a natural monoterpene enol as the extractant. As a natural, high solidification point, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly hydrophobic solvent, α−terpineol was selected firstly as an extractant for DLLME and could be collected and transferred easily after extraction by solidification at a lower temperature. Several main parameters closely related to extraction efficiencies, such as volume of extractant, extraction time, pH and salt concentration of the sample solution, temperature, and time of the solidification process, were investigated in detail. The results showed that the established method had good extraction performance for benzophenone compounds with enrichment factors in the range of 29–47. Furthermore, the linearities were over the range of 2–2000 µg/L, and the limits of detection were 0.12–0.53 µg/L for four benzophenone compounds. The recoveries ranged from 80.2% to 108.4%, with RSDs (intra- and inter-assay) less than 8.5%. At last, the method applicability was investigated by the determination of the benzophenone compounds in aqueous solutions, and satisfactory recoveries (83.0–107.0%) were acquired. Taken together, α−terpineol, a natural monoterpene enol, was first used as an extractant of DLLME-SFO, which provided an alternative method with simplicity and rapidity for the determination of benzophenone compounds in aqueous samples. This study focused on developing an effective and environmentally friendly method to measure ligustrazine in rat serum by using polymer monolith micro-extraction (PMME) technique. A poly (methacrylic acid-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) material was used to extract ligustrazine through hydrophobic and ion-exchange interaction. Qualitative and quantitative analysis was performed by a liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry. After optimization of several PMME conditions, the developed method exhibited excellent extraction performance to the ligustrazine. Good linearity was acquired ranging from 10 to 2,000 ng mL−1, and the limit of detection of the proposed method was 0.14 ng mL−1. The recoveries measured by spiking three different concentrations in rat serum ranged from 82.6 to 95.3%, and excellent precision was found with relative standard deviations (RSDs) less than 8.3% for intra-day and 9.7% for inter-day, respectively. At last, the applicability of the method was further confirmed through continuous monitoring of ligustrazine in rat serum after dosing of ligustrazine tablets to rats. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Interactions between titanium dioxide nanoparticles (n-TiO 2) and pollutants in the aquatic environment may alter the bioavailability of pollutants, and thus altering their toxicity and fate. In order to investigate the bioconcentration of azoxystrobin (AZ) and its mechanism of cardiotoxicity in the presence of n-TiO 2 , the experiment was divided into control, n-TiO 2 (100 μg/L), AZ (40, 200 and 1000 μg/L) and AZ (40, 200, 1000 μg/L) + n-TiO 2 groups, and the zebrafish embryos were exposed to the exposure solution until 72 h post-fertilization. Results suggested the presence of n-TiO 2 notably reduced the accumulation of AZ in larvae compared with exposure to AZ alone, thereby significantly decreasing AZ-induced cardiotoxicity, including heart rate changes, pericardium edema, venous thrombosis, increased sinus venosus and bulbus arteriosus distance and changes in cardiac-related gene expression. Further studies showed that AZ + n-TiO 2 together restrained total-ATPase and Ca2+-ATPase activities, while the activity of Na+K+-ATPase increased at first and then decreased. Furthermore, there were significant changes in the expressions of oxidative phosphorylation and calcium channel-related genes, suggesting mitochondrial dysfunction may be the potential mechanism of cardiotoxicity induced by AZ and n-TiO 2. This study supplies a new perspective for the joint action of AZ and environmental coexisting pollutants and provides a basis for ecological risk management of pesticides. A novel microbial consortium (NZDC-6) was screened and characterized to detoxify the estrogenic mycotoxin zearalenone (ZEA), which commonly contaminates maize and is a major threat to food and health security. We found NZDC-6 to be thermophilic and highly effective, with a 90.3% ZEA degradation ratio at an optimum temperature of 60 °C. NZDC-6 was also effective at degrading the more estrogenic ZEA cognates, α-zearalenol (α-ZAL) and β-zearalenol (β-ZAL), with >90% degradation ratios. To evaluate a practical application, ZEA-contaminated corncobs were treated with NZDC-6 via semisolid fermentation. Measurements of physicochemical parameters and 16S microbial diversity and redundancy analysis (RDA) indicated that ZEA removal was most efficient at a low corncob solid content (< 5%), as a high solid content overwhelmed the microbial metabolic load, leading to increased dissolved oxygen and lowered pH. Our results demonstrate that the control of environmental variables is crucial for effective ZEA microbial removal in practical applications.
