The Euroball-IV γ-detector array, equipped with the ancillary charged particle detector array DIAMANT was used to study the residues of the fusion reaction 64Ni ⇒ 128Ba at Ebeam = 255 and 261 MeV, in an attempt to reach the highest anguar momentum and verify the existence of predicted hyperdeformed rotational bands. No discrete hyperdeformed bands were identified, but nevertheless a breakthrough was obtained a systematic search for rotational ridge structure with very large moments of inertia J (2) ≥ 100 ℏ2 MeV(-1), in agreement with theoretical predictions for hyperdeformed shapes. Evidence for hyperdeformiation was obtained by charged particle + γ-ray gating, selectiong triple correlated ridge structures in the continuum of each of the nuclei, 118Te, 124Xe and 124,125Cs. In 7 additional nuclei, rotational ridges were also identified with J(2) = 71-77ℏ2Mev(-1), which most probably correspond to surperdeformed shape. The angular distributions of the emitted charged particles show an excess in forward direction over expectations from pure compound evaporation, which may indicate that in-complete fusion plays an important role in the population of very elongated shapes.

In recent attempts to search for exotic shapes, hyperdeformation (HD), and Jacobi transitions in Hf, Ba, Xe, Sn and Nd nuclei, ridge structures presumably originating from nuclei of very elongated shapes have been observed in 126Ba, with Gammasphere (GS) and in 126Xe, with Euroball-IV (EB-IV). After the promising results from GS, a second experiment in 126Ba followed at EB-IV, taking advantage of the use of the BGO Inner Ball (IB) for selecting the highest spins. The decay of the Giant Dipole Resonances (GDR) is also studied, and the analysis in progress. The Quasi-continuum transitions in the Jacobi region, show a significant decrease in energy for both 126Ba and 126Xe, compared to the Thomas-Fermi- and the LSD model predictions. Similar effects were recently found for other nuclei by Ward et al.

The article presents a case study of a 54-year-old male patient with obesity and a 15 year history of severe hyperuricemia and acute gouty arthritis. The patient was diagnosed with disseminated cutaneous calcinosis, secondary to chronic renal failure. He took Allopurinol, partnered with dietary restrictions for weight management.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer in the fair-skinned adult population over 50 years of age and the incidence is rising. Generally, BCC has an indolent course, low mortality and a good prognosis due to low rates of metastasis. Giant basal cell carcinoma is a rare reported oncological entity which accounts for 0.5% to 1% of all cases of BCC and has a diameter larger than 5cm. Basosquamous carcinoma is a rare high-risk type of BCC with clinical and histopathological features of both BCC and squamous cell carcinoma. A 61-year-old female presented to our clinic for a giant bleeding tumor located under her left breast. She initially noted the tumor almost 15 years ago. Although the patient was a nurse, she was afraid to seek medical advice until an episode of significant bleeding. At presentation the tumor was a 15/7cm in size, was invading the underlying structures and had a central ulceration. A 72-year-old female was admitted with the symptoms of malaise, loss of appetite, upper right quadrant pain, fever, and sweats, which had been present for last 7 days. CT-scan of the abdomen revealed a hypodense mass in the right liver lobe; histopathological examination of the biopsy specimen yielded a diagnosis of actinomycotic abscess. Treatment with intravenous ampicillin for 8 weeks followed by a course of oral doxicycline for 28 weeks resulted in the complete resolution of the abscess.
