Objective To discuss the significance of genetic diagnosis of children with syndromic hearing loss by using whole-exome sequencing. Methods The clinical data of 34 children with sensorineural hearing loss were collected and the whole exons of genome of the children and their parents were sequenced and analyzed. Results Genetic causative gene and mutations have been identified in 19 children, including 4 genes (HARS2, USH2A, GATA3, MITF) related to rare syndromic hearing loss. Fifteen children were diagnosed with non-syndromic hearing loss related gene, including 8 cases with GJB2 mutation, 5 cases with SLC26A4 mutation and 2 cases with MYO15A mutation. Mutations of c.435_437del(p.K147del) and c.1403G > C (p.G468A) in gene HARS2, c.11389+1del in gene USH2A, c.1327delA(p.M443Wfs*33) in gene GATA3, c.627C > A(p.C209X) in gene MITF and c.8033_8057delinsG(p.N2678_D2686delinsS) in gene MYO15A were first reported. Conclusions Whole-exome sequencing helps the accurate diagnosis of causes of hearing loss, especially for the rare syndromic hearing loss with atypical clinical manifestations. Information from genetic testing may highlight further recommended exams of structure and functions of related organs.

ObjectiveTo determine the serum IgM and IgG antibody levels post-COVID-19 vaccination， and provide scientific evidence for COVID-19 antibody response after vaccination.MethodsA total of 980 healthy persons were included in Kunming Third People’s Hospital from July through August， 2021， which had been vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines and then tested for anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM and IgG antibodies.ResultsAfter the COVID-19 vaccination， 469 persons （positive rate， 47.86%） were positive for anti-IgG antibody. Of them， 75 were males with （positive rate， 39.06%）， and the average IgG level was 0.618 （0.180， 2.526） AU·mL-1［M（Q1，Q3）］； 394 were females （50.00%）， and the IgG level was 0.999 （0.305， 3.334） AU·mL-1. In addition， 53 persons （5.41%） were anti-IgM antibody positive. Of them， 14 were males （positive rate， 7.29%）， and the average IgM level was 0.057 （0.026， 0.195） AU·mL-1； 39 were females （4.95%）， and the IgM level was 0.047 （0.027， 0.110） AU·mL-1. The positive rate of anti-IgG antibody was highest in those aged ≤30 years， which was 51.02% in male （n=25） and 55.88% in female （n=133）. The anti-IgG response differed significantly by gender （χ2=7.401， D=0.135 1， P0.05）. Among the age groups， anti-IgG antibody level was higher in those aged ≤30 and 51-70 years， with 158 （55.05%） and 122 （52.36%） persons， respectively； the average antibody level was 1.209 （0.426， 4.386） AU·mL-1 and 1.074 （0.191， 7.670） AU·mL-1， respectively. In this study, we utilize C‐band Sentinel‐1 radar images from 2015 to 2022, combined with interseismic horizontal GNSS velocities, to construct large‐scale, high‐resolution, 3‐D velocity and strain rate maps over a vast region of southern Tibet. We show the distribution of prevailing dilatational strain accumulation along the seven major rift zones. Using 2‐D elastic dislocations invoking a two‐fault model in a Bayesian framework, we quantified the decadal extension rates across the seven rift zones, and we suggest a total extension rate of 18.4 ± 1.7 mm/yr, consistent with geological and geodetic estimates. The resulting strain rate maps, combined with the earthquake catalog, help us identify areas with high earthquake potential. Our study enhances our understanding of the present‐day tectonics and kinematics in southern Tibet and provides important constraints for seismic hazard assessment in this region. Plain Language Summary: In this research, we used satellite radar images from 2015 to 2022 and GNSS data to study the crustal deformation and strain distribution in southern Tibet, where the Earth's crust is actively stretching due to the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates and the extrusion of crustal materials. In this paper, an epoxy structural adhesive was fabricated by using the high‐performance thermoplastic engineering plastic phenolphthalein‐based polyaryletherketone (PEK‐C) as tougheners, and 4,4′‐diaminodiphenylsulfone (DDS) and 4,4‐diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM) as the curing agents. The effect of PEK‐C on the mechanical properties, microstructure, and adhesive properties of the modified epoxy resin system was investigated. Epoxy structural adhesive with 20 phr PEK‐C exhibited excellent bonding performance and thermal stability. The PEK‐C toughened adhesive presented high shear strength of 31.6 MPa and 27.6 MPa at 120°C and 150°C, respectively. The PEK‐C toughened epoxy structural adhesive was then used to bond CF/PEEK composites, and the effects on the bonding properties of CF/PEEK were investigated. By the combined treatment of sandpaper grinding and corona discharge (80 mesh sandpaper sanding + corona treatment for 30 s), the shear strength of the composite joints is increased to 18.73 MPa. And the shear strength retention rate of the joint was 99.8%. The strategy can be used to fabricate sandwich structures with CF/PEEK as the skin with excellent performance. Therefore, PEK‐C toughened modified epoxy resin is conducive to the enhancement of adhesive properties and has a better performance for the bonding of CF/PEEK materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Large block‐bounding faults on the Tibetan plateau are significant geological structures that accommodate tectonic movements and accumulate stress, leading to large earthquakes. Quantifying the interseismic slip deficit rate helps to better assess the earthquake potential. We combine available InSAR (2015–2020) and interseismic GPS data to determine fault coupling along 14 major block‐bounding faults. Spatially dense InSAR measurements remarkably improve the resolution of the coupling model. Combined with a GPS‐constrained block model, we examine the performance of the inversion approach with the stress constraint and the common Laplacian smoothing based on both synthetic tests and real data. We suggest that, for continental strike‐slip faults, adding the stress constraint can mitigate unphysical coupling distributions due to unreasonable assumptions or modeling artifacts, reducing the model uncertainty and improving the accuracy of the coupling model. This is particularly useful for segments featured by a highly heterogeneous distribution of coupling along the transition zone from locking to creeping region, partially‐coupling segment, and junction zone between main and subsidiary faults. We present a large‐scale fault coupling map along the major block‐bounding faults on the northeastern and eastern Tibetan plateau, highlighting the distinct degrees of fault coupling and lateral variations. The collage of coupling maps along different faults demonstrates the kinematic features over a broad time scale during earthquake cycles ranging from early to late interseismic phases, such as the segments ruptured during the 2001 Kokoxili earthquake and the 1920 Haiyuan earthquake. Plain Language Summary: Large faults at the boundary of blocks accommodate a significant portion of the relative movement between adjacent blocks and accumulate tectonic stress during the interseismic period. Consequently, these faults have a high potential to generate large earthquakes. To evaluate the distribution of strain accumulation, we analyze InSAR (2015–2020) and interseismic GPS measurements to construct a coupling model, which tells us the extent to which two blocks are locked together and accumulate stress before the next earthquake. We focus on 14 major faults on the eastern and northeastern Tibetan plateau. The addition of the spatially dense InSAR data helps to resolve the coupling distribution in greater detail, where GPS observations are limited. We evaluate different approaches to determine fault coupling, including stress constraints and smoothing techniques. Our findings indicate that adding a stress constraint performs better than the smoothing operator and helps mitigate physically unrealistic coupling distributions in the inversion using the spatial smoothing method. The stress constraint improves the accuracy of the coupling model. Based on the stress‐constrained inversion, we present a comprehensive fault coupling map in the northeastern and eastern Tibetan plateau, highlighting the spatial variations of fault coupling, which can be used in earthquake hazard assessment. The coseismic deformation field on both sides of the fault, especially the distribution and change characteristics of near-field deformation, not only provides important constraints for the fine inversion of the slip distribution model but also serves as an important basis for the anti-disruption defense of the cross-fault linear engineering facilities. In this paper, we used Sentinel-1 satellite data to obtain the coseismic deformation field of the Maduo earthquake by using InSAR and offset techniques. We quantitatively compared the coseismic displacement of the three types of data: InSAR, offset, and optical images. The results show that optical images and offset provided more robust near-fault (<2 km) deformation insights than InSAR, which exhibited irregular deformation patterns due to incoherence near the fault. The maximum relative displacements for InSAR and offset observations are ~2.8 m and 4 m, respectively. Then we tested various fault slip models with different data constraints, revealing that a combined inversion of GPS, InSAR, and offset data offers superior constraints on slip distribution. This integrative approach effectively captured both shallow and deep fault slip, particularly near the fault zone. The eastern branch fault model, jointly constrained by GPS, InSAR, and offset data, is the optimal coseismic slip distribution model for the Maduo earthquake, and the maximum slip is 5.55 m. In the rapidly developing microelectronics industry and technology, epoxy resin based electrically conductive adhesives must be urgently improved in terms of aging resistance, especially residual stress caused by thermal cycle aging. In this study, we investigated the stress behavior of rigid and flexible epoxy systems blended with bisphenol F epoxy (BPF) and fatty acid epoxy. The curing processes, thermal, and thermomechanical properties of the modified epoxy systems were assessed comprehensively. Moreover, the residual stress during the thermal cycle was monitored, and the bond strength was characterized. The results pointed out that by introducing soft molecular segments into a rigid system, the modified epoxy resin system had significantly lower residual stress values and exhibited a higher bond strength over a wider temperature range. Finally, we envision the systematic integration of residual stress testing with material strength testing for quantifying the bond failure of adhesive layers in the near future. In this study, The ENVISAT advanced synthetic aperture radar observations from 2003 to 2010 of a descending track covering an area of 100 km × 300 km were used to map the surface velocity field in northwestern Tibet. The derived line-of-sight (LOS) velocity map revealed that interseismic deformation was mainly located on the Altyn Tagh Fault (ATF) and other four immature subsidiary faults (i.e., Tashikule Fault, Muzitage-jingyuhe Fault, Heishibeihu Fault, and Woniuhu Fault). A 2D elastic screw dislocation model was used to interpret the interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) velocity profiles, which revealed the following results. (a) The oblique movement is partitioned between left-lateral slip at a rate of 6.3 ± 1.4 mm/y on the ATF and 5.9 ± 2.8 mm/y on the subsidiary faults. The low slip rate of the ATF indicates that the ATF does not drive the northeastward extrusion of material, with most of the extrusion occurring in the eastern interior of the plateau and the four subsidiary faults localizing the oblique convergence partitioned in the west. This can reasonably explain why catastrophic earthquakes and rapid slip do not occur all over along the ATF. (b) Based on the four subsidiary faults accommodating the oblique movement and the traces amalgamation with the EKLF (delineated Bayan Har plate boundary to the northeast), we concluded guardedly that the four subsidiary faults are the evoluting plate boundary of the Bayan Har block to the northwest. Along the margins of orogenic plateaus, the viscous Earth structure and fault geometries play a primary role in controlling the tectonic evolution and earthquake generation. After the 2008 M w 7.9 Wenchuan earthquake, the long-standing debate regarding the tectonics producing and maintaining prominent topography across the Longmen Shan reignited. Post-seismic deformation, representing the surface strain history in response to lithospheric stress perturbations, provides important insights into the lithospheric rheology and active structures. Here, we construct a new 3-D post-seismic deformation model for the Wenchuan earthquake, invoking viscoelastic relaxation and afterslip. Our best-fitting model indicates that the steady-state viscosities of the lower crust in the region to the immediately west of the Songpan-Ganzi terrane and beneath the Songpan-Ganzi terrane are estimated to be 4.0 × 1018 and 1.0 × 1018 Pa s, respectively. Our results, combining geophysical and geodetic observations and model analyses, highlight the prevalent parallelism between the rheological and structural boundaries of the lower crust, which diverge northward away from the trend of the Longmen Shan fault at ∼20°. This diverging rheological structure and the partially coupled upper and lower crust have broad implications for the stress build-up, strain partitioning and deformation styles along the eastern Tibetan Plateau margin. In this study, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) with a diameter of ~3 nm were successfully synthesized and incorporated into a poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) matrix to fabricate PET/GQDs nanocomposites. The impact of GQDs on the crystallization and thermal stability of the PET/GQDs nanocomposites was investigated. It was observed that the addition of only 0.5 wt% GQDs into the nanocomposites resulted in a significant increase in the crystallization temperature (peak temperature) of PET, from 194.3 °C to 206.0 °C during the cooling scan process. This suggested that an optimal concentration of GQDs could function as a nucleating agent and effectively enhance the crystallization temperature of PET. The isothermal crystallization method was employed to analyze the crystallization kinetics of the PET/GQDs nanocomposites, and the data showed that 0.5 wt% GQDs significantly accelerated the crystallization rate. Furthermore, the incorporation of GQDs into the PET matrix imparted photoluminescent properties to the resulting PET/GQDs nanocomposites. The PET crystals with GQDs as crystal nuclei and the crazes caused by defects played a vital role in isolating and suppressing the concentration quenching of GQDs. Bismaleimide (BMI) resin-based structural adhesives have excellent heat resistance, with important applications demonstrated in the bonding of high-temperature BMI composites. In this paper, we report an epoxy-modified BMI structural adhesive with excellent properties for bonding BMI-based CFRP. We prepared the BMI adhesive using epoxy-modified BMI as the matrix and PEK-C and core–shell polymers as synergistic tougheners. We found that the epoxy resins improve the process and bonding properties of BMI resin but slightly reduce thermal stability. PEK-C and core–shell polymers synergistically improve the toughness and bonding performances of the modified BMI adhesive system and allow the maintenance of heat resistance. The optimized BMI adhesive exhibits excellent heat resistance, with a high glass transition temperature of 208.6 °C and a high thermal degradation temperature of 425.4 °C. Most importantly, the optimized BMI adhesive exhibits satisfactory intrinsic bonding and thermal stability. It has a high shear strength of 32.0 MPa at room temperature and up to 17.9 MPa at 200 °C. The BMI adhesive-bonded composite joint has a high shear strength of 38.6 and 17.3 MPa at room temperature and 200 °C, respectively, indicating effective bonding and excellent heat resistance. Strain accumulation in foreland zones is important for understanding mountain‐building processes and seismic hazards. Material heterogeneity in this border zone, particularly the contrast between sedimentary cover and basement, affects strain accommodation and fault behavior. One manifestation of this effect is depth separation of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR)‐derived slip models and corresponding aftershock clusters; hypotheses for this vertical separation remain controversial. In this study, we investigated strain accumulation in the Kalpin fold‐and‐thrust belt (KFTB) of southwestern Tian Shan, China, using the integration of InSAR measurements, teleseismic body‐waves, near‐field strong motion data (SM), and relocated aftershocks of the 2020 Mw 6.0 Kalpin earthquake. The SM modeling and analysis of post‐seismic InSAR time series are performed for the first time for this earthquake. Our results confirm a vertical separation of the mainshock and aftershock cluster, with the former on a weak décollement and the latter on faults within the basement. InSAR time series analysis shows that post‐seismic deformation was dominated by afterslip on a splay fault directly above the ruptured décollement. Static stress transfer of co‐seismic rupture cannot explain these observations. We speculate that fluid flow and high pore pressure along pre‐existing fault planes may have reduced the fault strength and been involved in the evolution of this aftershock cluster. We conclude that compressive strain in the KFTB is accommodated by a mixture of thin‐ and thick‐skin faulting and seismic deformation across the entire crustal thickness. Specifically, we suggest that the observed shortening is partly accommodated by infrequent large earthquakes on the weak décollement. The contrasting material properties of the sediment and basement certainly affects this process, for example, the depth separation of different fault behavior. However, it is unclear how the fault behavior varies in depth from basement to weak sediment throughout different stages of the seismic cycle. 2020 Mw 6.0 Kalpin earthquake occurred in Kalpin fold‐and‐thrust belt, southwestern Tian Shan provides some insight on this matter. Here, we combined Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar, aftershock relocation, teleseismic body‐waves, and strong motion data to investigate the strain release behavior during and immediately after the earthquake. We found that strain release behavior differs between sediment and basement during and immediately after the earthquake. The mainshock ruptured the weak décollement and the aftershocks were primarily rooted in the basement, while the transient afterslip was mainly distributed in the sediments. Two findings are worth noting: (a) the afterslip occurred on a fault, whose stress was partially unloaded during the earthquake, suggesting the fault strength was reduced, and (b) the earthquake rupture of the décollement highlights how destructive earthquakes can initiate on the weak décollement. In this paper, acrylic triblock copolymer (BMG) was used to toughen the benzoxazine/epoxy (BZ/EP) resin system and prepare a BZ/EP/DDS/BMG resin. BZ/EP/DDS/BMG resin curing characteristics, viscosity-temperature characteristics, heat resistance, toughness, morphology, and bonding performance were studied. The results show that the curing agent 4,4-diamino diphenyl sulfone (DDS) can lower the curing temperature of the BZ/EP/DDS system, making it suitable for co-curing of benzoxazine prepreg. The BMG did not affect the curing temperature of the BZ/EP resin. When 15 phr BMG was added, the viscosity of the BZ/EP/BMG resin at 139–189 °C was lower than 5.0 Pa·s, showing a minimum viscosity of 2.0 Pa·s. BMG significantly increased the toughness of the BZ/EP/DDS/BMG system while barely decreasing its heat resistance. The impact strength of the BZ/EP/BMG resin increased by 71% when 20% BMG was added. Furthermore, theBZ/EP/DDS/BMG resin demonstrated excellent bonding performance, with lap shear strength and peel strength at room temperature reaching 30.6 MPa, and 37.2 N/cm, respectively. Therefore, the prepared BZ/EP/DDS/BMG resin is suitable as a matrix for BZ structural adhesives and composite surface films. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Accelerating the curing of epoxy/aromatic amine adhesives and improving their toughness are challenges in heat‐resistant epoxy structural adhesives. Herein, we report an epoxy/aromatic amine adhesive accelerated curing system with an oxo‐centered trinuclear (chromium III) complex, which is toughened using a thermoplastic block copolymer (TPBC). The reaction characteristics, heat resistance, microstructure, and bonding properties of the accelerated epoxy adhesives were analyzed. The reaction peak temperature of the epoxy with 3% catalyst was 113.1°C, which was 113.6°C lower than that of epoxy without catalyst, and the modified epoxy resin demonstrated a potential for rapid curing at medium temperature. The glass transition temperature of the TPBC‐toughened epoxy adhesive was 125°C after curing, indicating excellent thermal stability after medium temperature curing. The introduction of the TPBC increased the single‐lap shear strength of the epoxy adhesive without reducing its heat resistance. The shear strength at room temperature and 120°C of the modified epoxy adhesive with 50 phr of TPBC was 25.2 and 10.9 MPa, respectively. Moreover, the epoxy film adhesive exhibited outstanding bonding properties when used in the bonding of lightweight honeycomb sandwich structures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In response to the theme of environmental protection and green development in the world in the recent years, waterborne epoxy resin has received more and more attention. Waterborne epoxy resin has lower toxicity, but its low toughness limits the application range of waterborne epoxy resin. Here, we first proposed a method of toughening waterborne epoxy resin with aqueous polyamide salt solution. In this article, a series of waterborne polyamic acid salts is used as modification polymer to improve the high‐temperature resistance and other properties of waterborne epoxy resins by copolymerization modification. Waterborne polyamic acid salt is dispersed uniformly in the epoxy resin. After curing, by compared with the pure epoxy resin, a semi‐interpenetrating network is formed, the cross‐linking density and the high‐temperature resistance of the material are increased, and the glass transition temperature increases from 105°C to 116°C. The storage modulus at 300°C increases from 6.15 to 15.76 MPa. Thermogravimetric Analysis results reveal that the corresponding temperatures of 5% and 10% weight loss increase from 403°C and 419°C to 415°C and 435°C, respectively. At the same time, the toughness of the imide chain segment and polar groups lead to the improved adhesion of the epoxy system, the peeling strength increase from 0.51 to 1.24 N cm−1, and the lap shear strength at high temperature (100°C) increase from 0.58 to 16.97 MPa. The water absorption decreases from 1.51% to 0.66%. The developed waterborne epoxy resin is expected to be used as a high‐temperature waterborne epoxy coating in high‐temperature coatings and other applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We obtained the rupture process and slip distribution of the 2022 Mw6.6 Menyuan earthquake by jointly inverting accelerogram data and InSAR measurements. The near-field InSAR measurements provide good constraints on the shallow slip distributions (<6 km). The accelerogram data enable us to better resolve the deeper coseismic slip (>6 km). The combination of two types of data provided improved constrains on slip distribution of the 2022 Menyuan earthquake. The results from joint inversion of InSAR and accelerogram data reveal a 26-km-long rupture length, which roughly agrees with the mapped length from the optically identified surface rupture trace and the InSAR deformation field. We imaged a major asperity with a dimension of 14 × 6 km at 4 km depth updip of the hypocenter. The maximum slip is estimated to be 3.8 m at 4 km depth. The duration of the 2022 Menyuan earthquake is ~14 s, and 90% of the seismic moment is released in the first 10 s. The total seismic moment is estimated to be 1.31 × 1 × 1019 N·m, equivalent to a moment magnitude of Mw6.7. Our results highlight that the moderate but shallow rupture during the 2022 Menyuan earthquake could intensify the seismic damage on the surface, confirmed by field investigations. The thermal and mechanical breakage of epoxy coating due to easy cracking, poor toughness, and large residual stress, occurring during curing and thermal aging process, is the key factor responsible for damage of silicon device on semiconductor elements. In this study, modified epoxy resins containing an imide ring and polybutadiene rubber‐modified epoxy resin used as the toughening agents were prepared to investigate the residual stress generated during the curing and thermal aging process. The curing process and the thermal properties of the modified epoxy systems were assessed by differential scanning calorimetry and rotational rheometry, dynamic thermomechanical analysis, thermomechanical analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. A thin film stress analyzer was used to analyze the changes in thermal stress of the modified epoxy systems during curing and cyclic stress and compared with the data from theoretical calculation. The results show that, with the increase in content of the toughening agent, the toughness of the modified epoxy systems was significantly improved, and the curing and thermal cycle stresses could be simultaneously reduced. Besides, we also envision the extension of the comprehensive evaluation method for residual stress described in this study to enable the modification of epoxy coatings prepared using a toughening agent, in the near future. Combined foliar application of zinc sulphate (ZnSO4) and selenium (Se) has been practiced in wheat biofortification. However, it remains elusive that whether the combined application affects Zn and Se distribution to grain, the efficacy of biofortification and bioavailability in wheat, due to the accompanying sulphate sources. Selenite and ZnSO4 were applied either alone or simultaneously to foliage of wheat in field, and their impacts on Zn and Se partitioning in plants, enrichment and bioavailability in whole grain, bran and flour, as well as amino acid profile in flour, were closely investigated. Grain yield was not influenced by any of the foliar Zn and Se applications. Grain Zn and Se concentrations reached 58.3–77.9 and 0.30–0.74 mg kg−1 in Zn‐ and Se‐sprayed plants, respectively, and the estimated daily‐absorbed Zn by a reference adult from grain and flour were enhanced by 1.2‐ to 2.4‐fold than the control, as well as 16.8‐fold increase on average for daily Se intake. Combined Zn and Se application led to a 32%–37% reduction in Se concentrations and daily Se intake of whole grain and flour in one of the two seasons when compared with the foliar Se spray alone, which was partly associated with the reduced Se distribution to grains. Alternatively, similar responsive patterns of methionine and cysteine with grain and flour Se concentrations further suggested that zinc sulphate and selenium interactions in Se accumulation act through the metabolism of sulphur‐containing amino acids in wheat plants. Further, the substantial Zn enrichment in flour paralleled to the increase of amino acid profiles such as aspartate, glutamate, glycine and lysine, but not to the total amino acid content. Overall, wheat was successfully biofortified with Zn and Se through combined foliar applications, although an antagonistic impact of ZnSO4 spray on the magnitude of Se biofortification occurred in some cases.
