In order to manufacture cellulose submicron fibers, electrospinning of cellulose was tried with different solvents. Alpha-cellulose did not dissolve in 6% (w/w) sodium hydroxide/4%urea aqueous solution. Alpha-cellulose solution in 85% phosphoric acid was not spinnable at an applied voltage between 15kV to 25 kV and at a spin length of 4 to 6 inches. Electrospinning of alpha-cellulose in Nmethylmorpholine-N-oxide/N-methylpyrrolidinone/water solvent mixture could be performed at an applied voltage of 28 kV and at a spin length of seven inches during spinning and at an ambient temperature of 380C. The degree of crystallinity of the cellulose submicron fibers was found to be 37.88%. The number average fiber diameter of cellulose submicron fibers from 1.25% (w/w) cellulose solution in the N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide/N-methyl-pyrrolidinone/water solvent was found to be 207 nm and the number average fiber diameter of cellulose submicron fibers from 2.5% (w/w) cellulose solution in the N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide/N-methyl-pyrrolidinone/water solvent mixture was found to be 243 nm. Microscopic, Physical and Mechanical properties of Mulberry, Eri, Muga, Tasar and peduncle Tasar silk fibre have been studied according to international standard testing methods. Results have been compared as per the requirement of industry. The results of the investigation thoroughly discussed It is revealed that Tasar, Eri and Muga silk has elongated triangular cress section, Mulberry silk has rounded triangular cross section. Mulberry silk is finest and strongest fiber, Tasar silk is coarser and weakest fiber, Muga silk fibre has highest elongation percentage than other silk with better strength than Tasar but lesser than Eri, mulberry silk fibre. In this paper, the weft backed fabric has been woven on power loom by using 2/60s white Eri spun silk yarn in warp and 2/20s white Eri spun silk yarn in the weft. The fabric has been raised from mechanical raising machine. Both the fabric i.e. raw as well as raised fabrics have been tested for various low stress mechanical and surface properties as per international standard testing methods and Handle values have been evolved. When fabric is rubbed against surface, abrasion of the fibre surface occurs due to friction. Abrassion is the rubbing away of component fibres and yarns of the fabric. The fabric wear of the material depends on the construction of yarn or fabric. The life of the fabric depends on the resistance to abrasion. Moreover the type of fibre determines the abrasion resistance of fabric. Thus a study was carried out to know the influence of Eri/wool fibre blending on Abrasion resistance of Eri/wool blended fabric in respect of thickness loss (%) and in mass loss (%) of the pure Eri, pure wool and its blended fabrics. Noil waste generated during Eri spun silk yarn spinning has been successfully processed on woolen, cotton and Open end system of spinning and economics have been measured. Yarn produced from these systems has been tested according to international standard testing methods. Results have been compared as per the requirement of industry. In this paper, Eri cocoons have been degummed successfully processed in worsted system of spinning. Degumming loss, yarn realization and economics have been measured.
