Floods are caused by the accumulation of several factors, such as global warming, climatological characteristics, hydrology, and physical conditions of an area. The purpose of this study was to map the level of flood vulnerability in the core zone of the Lore Lindu Biosphere Reserve using geographic information system (GIS) based spatial analysis with scoring and overlay. The research parameters consisted of rainfall, elevation, slope, soil type, land cover, and distance from the river. This research was conducted in the core zone divided into 13 subdistricts and 2 regencies. The results of the classification of flood vulnerability levels are divided into 4 (four) categories: not prone, low vulnerability, moderate vulnerability, and high vulnerability. The results of the analysis show that the core zone of the Lore Lindu biosphere reserve is dominated by a non-hazardous site with an area of 145,018.28 ha (67.23%), a low vulnerability zone of 65,430.10 ha (30.33%), a moderate vulnerability zone of 5,025.29 ha (2.33%), and a high vulnerability zone of 245.99 ha (0.11). Areas with a high level of vulnerability are at low elevations with flat to gentle slopes. Mytilopsis sallei is a small bivalve that has invaded Asian waters, including southeast Asia. This shellfish has become a pest in coastal and estuary waters in Southeast Asia. This study is the first report on the presence and structure of the M. sallei population in Indonesia, precisely in the coastal lakes of Medan City, North Sumatra Province. This research was conducted in Lake Siombak, Medan City, North Sumatra, which is one of the tropical tidal lakes in Indonesia. Mytilopsis sallei shellfish samples were taken for a year from September 2018--August 2019. Mytilopsis sallei were obtained using a Petersen Grab with a mouth opening of 30 x 30 cm. The measurement of M. sallei consisted of the shell length, shell width, shell thickness, and body weight. The analysis of the population structure parameters with ELEFAN I was accommodated in the FiSAT II software. Spatially, M. sallei highest density in Siombak Lake is at station 5 with 24,100 and 23,948 ind.m-2 and the lowest at station 7 is only 967 ind.m-2. Monthly, M. sallei hase the highest density in the dry season (Feb--Jul) compared to the wet season (Aug--Jan). The density of M. sallei in the dry season reaches 1213--13,187 ind.m-2 and in wet seasons reaches 369-3,029 ind.m-2. The Mytilopsis sallei in Siombak Lake has a maximum length of 42.14 mm and the smallest size is 3.00 mm. The growth model of M. sallei in Lake Siombak is Lt = 42.14 (1-e-1.1(t-0.1598)). Mytilopsis sallei recruitment took place in January (fifth month). The instantaneous mortality rate (Z) of M. sallei mussels was 5.32 with an exploitation rate (E) of 0.66. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The highly use of polyethylene plastics in Indonesia has negative impact toward freshwater aquaculture systems. Omnivorous fish is one of the freshwater biota that exposed by microplastics. This study aims to determine the effect of microplastics to water quality and the prevalence of microplastic exposure in tilapia. The experimental design is conducted using a microplastic exposure (polyethylene scrub) with concentration of 0.01 g/L (P1), 0.1 g/L (P2), and 1 g/L (P3). Each treatment is repeated 3 times. The organ groups observed are the gastrointestinal, liver, gills, and gonads. The stages of the research including fish raising, microplastic extraction, water quality measuring parameter, and counting the amount of microplastics. The result obtained for water quality parameter is temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen still within safe fish farming limit. Microplastics at high concentration in water can cause a decrease in the total value of ammonia and do not affect the value of water temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen. Microplastics are found in the digestive organs, liver, gills, and gonads. The digestive tract of tilapia is the organ with the most microplastics after 14 days of exposure. It is concluded that microplastic is harmful for the life of tilapia because it can absorb to the liver and gonads.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are caused by fungi, bacteria, parasites or viruses and are transmitted from one person to another through having intercourse. Lack of knowledge will cause teenagers to have sex unsafely. Teenagers need to be taught about reproductive health because STIs are common and there is little knowledge about STIs. This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of a virtual peer educator training program about STIs in teenagers. This was a quantitative quasiexperimental study. There were 38 participants who were aged 15-18 years old and were recruited through convenience sampling. The data were collected by using two questionnaires: one about the awareness of STIs (Cronbach's alpha = 0.795) and one about the attitudes towards STIs (Cronbach's alpha = 0.709). The data were analyzed by using paired t-tests. This study showed that the training program was effective in enhancing teenagers' awareness and attitude about STIs. Educating teenagers about reproductive health is important to make they know about STIs, themselves and their surroundings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
