The issue of limiting power correlation of electromechanical systems of edging and horizontal rolls of universal mill stand is relevant and understudied. The paper determines causes of looping or tension in the strip in the steady-state rolling mode. Main causes are incoordination of linear speeds of edging and horizontal rolls and steady-state error of speed control of DC electric drive at on-load operation. The method of coordination of horizontal components of linear roll speeds at universal stand has been developed. It is based on condition of equality of metal second volumes at outputs of edging and horizontal rolls. The paper considers the method of control of electric drives at the universal stand that provides compensation of static speed deviation of horizontal rolls due to control of edging roll speeds during simultaneous rolling. It proposes the structural diagram and analyses the functional concept of the device implementing this method. There are oscyllographs of coordinates of electric drives of edging and horizontal rolls obtained during experimental investigations of this method. It is shown that speeds of edging rolls may be corrected practically without error. The authors substantiate that speed control of the edging roll electric drive according to the difference of horizontal roll speeds before and after strip gripping eliminates inter-stand forces. They give recommendations for commercialization of the algorithm realizing the developed methods of speed coordination of electric drives at the universal stand. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
