Abstract Mycoplasma pneumoniae necrotizing pneumonia (MPNP) has a long and severe disease course, which seriously threatens to jeopardize patients' lives and health. Early prediction is essential for good recovery and prognosis. In the present study, we retrospect 128 children with MPNP and 118 children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia combined with pulmonary consolidation to explore the predictive value of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in children with MPNP by propensity score matching method, multiple logistic regression analysis, dose–response analysis and decision curve analysis. The WBC count, PLT count and percentage of neutrophils were significantly higher in necrosis group than consolidation group. The serum CRP, PCT, ESR, D-D, FIB, ALT, LDH, IgG and IgM were significantly higher in necrosis group. Compared to consolidation group, necrosis group is more severe in chest pain and dyspnea. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that duration of LDH levels, high fever, d-dimer, and fibrinogen were independent predictive factors for the incidence of MPNP. Restricted cubic spline analysis showed that a non-linear dose–response relationship between the continuous changes of LDH level and the incidence of MPNP. Decision curve analysis revealed that LDH had an important clinical value in predicting MPNP. This study provides a potential serologic indicator for early diagnosis of MPNP.

Dispersed pay is becoming a ubiquitous phenomenon among organizations worldwide. However, whether this phenomenon is beneficial or detrimental remains debatable. To address this question, the current study adopted the perspective of social comparison theory and elucidated the different effects of vertical and horizontal pay dispersion on employees' job performance. Data concerning 267 full-time employees in China were collected. The results revealed that vertical and horizontal pay dispersion had opposing correlations with job performance, although both relationships were mediated by upward assimilative emotions (UAE) and downward contrastive emotions (DCE). Specifically, vertical pay dispersion positively predicted job performance via increased UAE and decreased DCE, whereas horizontal pay dispersion negatively predicted job performance via decreased UAE and increased DCE. The present study contributes to the compensation literature by providing a common theoretical framework that can explain the divergent associations between vertical and horizontal pay dispersion on the one hand and job performance on the other. The findings of the present study can inform organizational practices. Although we are surrounded by various kinds of rumors during the coronavirus disease pandemic, little is known about their primary content, what effect they might have on our emotions, and the potential factors that may buffer their effect. Combining qualitative (study 1 extracted 1907 rumors from top rumor-refuting websites using the Python Web Crawler and conducted content analysis) and quantitative (study 2 conducted an online survey adopting a three-wave design, N = 444) research methods, the current study revealed that government-related rumors accounted for the largest proportion of rumors during the outbreak stage of the pandemic and were positively associated with the public's negative emotions. We also found that trust in government negatively moderated the relationship between government-related rumors and negative emotions. Specifically, when people had low trust in government, exposure to government-related rumors was positively associated with negative emotions. However, when people had high trust in government, the association was non-significant. For positive emotions, we found no significant effects of government-related rumors. Extant literature on the reversal of the fair process effect has demonstrated that procedural fairness can lead to adverse reactions, such as poorer self-evaluations, under circumstances of unfavorable outcomes. However, procedural fairness resulting in failure may not necessarily be bad from a developmental perspective. The present research explores the relationship between procedural fairness and participation in development activities (PDA), the underlying mechanism, and the boundary condition of the relationship, drawing on attribution theory. Data were collected from a sample of 282 employees (M.sub.age = 32.20, SD = 6.92). The results show that procedural fairness positively predicted PDA and that self-attribution mediated their relationship. In addition, self-construal played a moderating role in the relationship between self-attribution and PDA. Specifically, for individuals high in independent self-construal, self-attribution is associated with stronger PDA, while the relationship is nonsignificant for those high in interdependent self-construal. Overall, the findings shed light on the positive function of procedural fairness even under unfavorable outcomes and reveal how situational factors and individual differences may jointly shape peoples' responses to organizational events. Greed, which is detrimental, is suggested to be a disposition developed at an early stage of life. Since parenting practices have profound impacts on youth development, the current study aimed to explore whether mindful parenting could prevent adolescents from being greedy and examine the mediating role of adolescent core self-evaluations. Study 1 (N = 272) used self-reported data from adolescents to test the hypotheses. Study 2 (N = 525) provided further evidence with multisource data from both adolescents and their primary caregivers (mainly mothers). The results indicated that both mindful parenting perceived by adolescents and mindful parenting reported by primary caregivers had significant impacts on adolescent dispositional greed, and the mediating effect of adolescent core self-evaluations was significant. Mindful parenting could inhibit adolescent greed partially by contributing positively to children's core self-evaluations. Studies have demonstrated that life satisfaction has a large impact on adolescents' development. However, adolescence is a period with extensive challenges and stressors that may threaten adolescents' life satisfaction if they cope with them ineffectively. The current study investigated the effect of mindful parenting on adolescents' life satisfaction and the mediating role of adolescents' coping self-efficacy. The participants included 479 parent-adolescent dyads. Data on both parents' self-reported mindful parenting and adolescents' perceptions of their parents' mindful parenting were collected and combined to estimate levels of mindful parenting. The results indicated that mindful parenting is positively associated with adolescents' life satisfaction and that adolescents' coping self-efficacy mediates this relationship. Specifically, higher levels of mindful parenting are linked with higher levels of adolescents' coping self-efficacy, which is in turn positively associated with adolescents' life satisfaction. These findings shed light on the importance of mindful parenting for adolescents' healthy development. Land surface models range in complexity of terrestrial evapotranspiration, yet it is unknown how model complexity translates to accuracy of modeled evapotranspiration estimates. Here, we use the International Land Model Benchmarking system to assess ET estimates from three models of varying complexity driven by the same forcing datasets: an earth system model, a terrestrial biosphere model, and a stand-alone ET model. The performance assessment includes both temporal and spatial evaluation, and different plant functional types across China. Our results indicate that the most complex model, an earth system model, performed best against the benchmarking datasets and metrics. Terrestrial biosphere model performed best in simulating inter-annual variability of ET, while earth system model performed best in simulating the seasonal cycle. The more complex models (earth system model and terrestrial biosphere model) perform better in forest, shrub and crop ecosystems, while the simpler model (stand-alone ET model) perform better in grass ecosystems. Our study demonstrates the impact of model complexity on ET estimates and highlights directions for future ET model improvements.

Greed is a universal facet of human nature, but only in recent years, as greed began to be treated as a stable disposition, has empirical research on greed grown. The current research explored the relationship between dispositional greed and prosocial behaviors and the underlying mechanism of this association. A sample of 314 adults participated in the research and completed measures of dispositional greed, prosocial behaviors, empathic concern, and prosocial moral reasoning. The results of the current research reveal that dispositional greed is negatively associated with prosocial behaviors, and empathic concern and prosocial moral reasoning play mediating roles in this association. Thus, initial evidence is provided to support an emotive-social cognitive dual-process model. The findings of the current study enrich the nomological net for dispositional greed and provide insights into how to promote prosocial behaviors.
