Partial Tear Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy (PTRCT) impacts 15% to 50% of the population and increases in prevalence with individuals' age. Several first-line management strategies for treating rotator cuff disease, such as physical rehabilitation and/or injection, have been reported. However, optimum management is debatable. This study aims to explore the outcome management combination of prolotherapy and physical rehabilitation with physical rehabilitation only for PTRCT. Randomized Control Trial (RCT) studies From PubMed, Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, And Google Scholar were included. Two independent reviewers evaluated the quality of RCTs using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool. The primary result was pain reduction, with functional improvement as a secondary outcome. Meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.4 software. Our meta-analysis included 5 RCT studies involving 263 patients. Standardized mean difference (SMD) was collected from all of the studies. In this study, pain reduction was significantly decreased in the prolotherapy group compared with physical rehabilitation only during 12 weeks follow-up (-0.97 (95% -1.63 to -0.31) with p: 0.0004) and obtained I2 57 % that, representing moderate heterogeneity. In contrast, Functional improvement did not significantly reduce (-1.04 (95% -5.45 to 3.317) with p: 0.64. In conclusion, Prolotherapy with physical rehabilitation can reduce pain in long-term (12 weeks) patients with PTRCT compared to physical rehabilitation only but give no significant effect in improving functional outcomes.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a respiratory disease that primarily affects the lungs. The challenge is to recognize the characteristic of TB disease, including extrapulmonary presentation. TB arthritis is an extrapulmonary TB presentation in the joint, which is frequently neglected and misdiagnosed. A 41-year-old female patient was presented with a major complaint of chronic pain in her left wrist for three months. The patient had a low-grade fever without respiratory symptoms. Local examination revealed swelling, warmth and tenderness. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) was increased and chest radiograph demonstrated pulmonary TB. She underwent arthrotomy debridement and culture examination. We initiated adjuvant anti-tuberculous treatment. On the evaluation, she reported relief from pain and showed improvement in general condition. TB arthritis is unique due to its rare incidence and unspecific clinical manifestations. A better understanding of these issues will prevent possible diagnostic errors. Prompt treatment was crucial to maintain joint function and prevent permanent destruction.

Background: The sodium may aggravate synovial inflammation and cartilage thinning. This incidence can cause joint pain and reduce functional activity. Not many people know the effect of sodium on the incidence of OA. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between sodium in the body and knee joint pain which results in functional activity. Methods: The quantitative descriptive study used accidental sampling. The study was conducted at three outpatient polyclinic orthopedics of hospitals and was approved by the Health Ethics Committee. All data were collected during the interview. The Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ) and the Nutrisurvey Indonesia 2007 application were used as a tool to collect daily sodium intake (mg). Knee joint pain score was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) while functional body activity was measured using the Western Ontario McMaster Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC). The Pearson and Spearman test (p0.05) were used as a correlation test. Results: 80 subjects were according to the inclusion criteria. Characteristics of the subjects were pre-elderly (32, 40%), women (74, 92.5%), BMI≥ 30 kg/m2 (54, 67.5%) and occupation (43, 53.75%). Average sodium intake = 2090.78 ± 1084.33 mg, VAS score = 6.28 ± 1.95 and WOMAC score = 32.65 ± 14.88. The correlation sodium, VAS, and WOMAC were not significant (p=0.196, p=0.372). Conclusions: Increased sodium intake is not associated with knee joint pain and functional body activity.

Post-menopausal osteoporosis is a degenerative disease among post-menopausal women. In Indonesia, women over 50 years old get post-menopausal osteoporosis.The therapy should be comprehensive and continous. Bisphosphonate therapy is one of the most preferable therapeutic option for maintaining bone density. Calcium and vitamin D have a role in increasing osteoblastic activity. The objective of this study was to describe the vitamin D and calcium in bone mineral density (BMD) of hip and spine in postmenopausal woman with biphosphonat therapy. This study is a cross-sectional, observational analytic. The subject were female patients with post-menopausal osteoporosis treated in clinic of RSUD dr. Saiful Anwar Malang, who had received routine bisphosphonate for at least 1 year. The method was collecting the patient data, who received oral and injectie bisphosphonate therapy, serial BMD test,hip and spine, vitamin D and calcium level in serum test. Background: Tourniquet is a common instrument used in Orthopedics field to reduce blood loss, providing a better operating field. One of the deleterious effects of tourniquet is ischemic-reperfusion injury, which occurs after deflation of the tourniquet. One of the possible ways to mitigate ischemic-reperfusion injury is by administrating antioxidants to reduce oxidative stress. Natural ingredients like Aloe vera are well known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. This experimental study was conducted by fracturing the tibia of male Wistar strain rats ( Rattus norvegicus) and administering Aloe vera gel orally as antioxidant. Method: A total of 18 rats were used in this study, divided into 6 groups. The first group was the control group, that included rats with fractured tibia not receiving torniquet and aloe vera treatment. The second and third groups were rats with fracture, who received torniquet application for one hour and two hours respectively without aloe vera treatment. The rest were the treatment groups, the rats with factures were given different dosages of Aloe vera extract: 40 mg/kg bodyweight (BW), 60 mg/kg BW, and 80 mg/kg BW. Three hours after administration, the tourniquet was inflated for two hours, followed by its deflation. The tibia was harvested to examine levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), Malondialdehyde (MDA), and Bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP-7), and callus diameter, and osteoblast numbers were evaluated. Result: Administration of Aloe vera extract reduced the oxidative stress parameters (SOD and MDA). Introduction: Phantom limb pain affects 50 percent to 85 percent of patients who have had their limbs amputated, lowering their quality of life. Clinical therapies for central pain, such as mirror therapy, motor imagery, or visual feedback, might help amputee patients suffering from phantom limb pain. Objectives: To provide a general review of the efficacy of various approaches for treating phantom limb discomfort in amputee patients. Methods: The following databases were used for a computerized literature search up to March 2022: PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The modified Jadad score is utilized to measure study quality in this research. The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) guidelines were followed while conducting this systematic review. Results: In all, 15 papers matched our inclusion criteria, with 5 receiving a low study quality rating and 10 receiving a good study quality rating. All the studies revealed a considerable decrease in pain; however, the patients and techniques varied. Conclusion: Mirror therapy, motor imagery, and visual feedback can alleviate phantom limb pain. However, there is a lack of scientific data to support their efficacy. Future studies should use more powerful research methodologies to investigate these medicines' short- and long-term advantages. Introductions: Multiple treatments for complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) have been promoted, although the degrees of supporting evidence vary and are often limited. This updated review aims to critically examine the data for treating Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) from current randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-RCTs. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted to identify all randomized controlled trials and non-randomized controlled trials addressing the rehabilitation of CRPS conducted on human subjects and published in English between 2018 and 2022 using The Cochrane Library, PubMed, and ScienceDirect (Elsevier). Results: The search yielded 6 RCTs and two non-RCTs of varying quality regarding the treatment of CRPS. 6 studies evaluate the treatment of CRPS, and two studies evaluate the prevention of CRPS. Conclusions: In conclusion, both manual manipulation and physical modality are safe and reliable procedures that provide good pain relief and functional improvement as treatment and prevention of CRPS. Background: Serotonin (5‐HT) is an important mediator in the gastrointestinal tract, acting on different neuronal 5‐HT receptors. The ionotropic 5‐HT3 receptor mediates immediate but transient spike discharge in human enteric neurons. We studied the role of the metabotropic 5‐HT1P, 5‐HT4, and 5‐HT7 receptors to activate human submucous neurons. Methods: Neuroimaging using the voltage sensitive dye Di‐8‐ANEPPS was performed in submucous plexus preparations from human surgical specimens of the small and large intestine. We synthesized a new, stable 5‐HT1P agonist, 5‐benzyloxyhydrazonoindalpine (5‐BOHIP). Key Results: 5‐HT evoked a fast and late‐onset spike discharge in enteric neurons. The fast component was blocked by the 5‐HT3 receptor antagonist cilansetron, while the remaining sustained response was significantly reduced by the 5‐HT1P receptor antagonist 5‐hydroxytryptophanyl‐5‐hydroxytryptophan amide (5‐HTP‐DP). The newly synthesized 5‐HT1P agonist 5‐BOHIP induced a slowly developing, long‐lasting activation of submucous neurons, which was blocked by 5‐HTP‐DP. We could not demonstrate any 5‐HT7 receptor‐induced spike discharge based on the lack of response to 5‐carboxamidotryptamine. Similarly, the 5‐HT4 agonists 5‐methoxytryptamine and prucalopride evoked no immediate or late‐onset spike discharge. Conclusions & Inferences: Our work demonstrated for the first time the presence of functional 5‐HT1P receptors on human submucous neurons. Unicameral bone cyst (UBC) or simple bone cyst (SBC) is a benign cystic lesion commonly found in the humerus and femur that is mainly encountered during childhood. The currently available treatments for UBC of the hand commonly involve curettage, bone grafting, partial resection with or without grafting, multiple drilling, fracture immobilization and observation alone, and steroid injection. We herein report a case treated with total resection of the cyst and non-vascularized fibular graft in a 9-year-old right-handed female patient. The patient presented with a chief complaint of a large, fast growing lump over the first metacarpal of the left hand. Flexion of the first metacarpophalangeal joint was limited. After the diagnosis was established with plain radiographs followed by biopsy, the cyst was completely removed by resecting the shaft of the metacarpal bone with preservation of the epiphyseal plate. A bone graft was obtained from the fibula and inserted in the gap, distally attached to the epiphyseal plate of the metacarpal and fixed with a Kirshner wire proximally. Radiographs revealed solid union of the bone graft to the epiphyseal plate at the head after 7 weeks, with improving function of the thumb. SBC or UBC of the metacarpal bone is very rare. A more aggressive method, such as in the case presented herein, may be necessary to treat this condition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) is frequently involved in inflammatory diseases, both de-generative and notably traumatic, resulting in pain, wrist motion and strength loss, and severe functional impairment. DRUJ dysfunction can be highly incapacitating. The Sauve-Kapandji (SK) procedure can be indicated to address multiple etiologies of DRUJ dysfunction. A 54-year-old woman presented with pain and difficulty moving the left wrist. X-ray imaging revealed the union of the distal radius with the plate still in there with subluxation of the distal radioulnar joint after surgery in 2005. Afterwards, she underwent the Sauve-Kapandji procedure. Follow-ups were done at periodic intervals, and wrist physiotherapy was instituted. We evaluated the range of motion and the VAS score as well. The patient had acceptable motion after four weeks of evaluation. The SK method has been advocated as a treatment for DRUJ derangement because, un-like the Darrach surgery, it preserves the ulnar head at the wrist. As with the Darrach opera-tion, postoperative instability of the proximal ulnar stump or radioulnar convergence may occur despite the favourable clinical prognosis. The Sauve-Kapandji procedure could treat wrist pain and deformity in DRUJ arthritis. It gives a good result in two weeks, four weeks, twelve weeks, and twenty after the procedure.
