Our study analyzes the spatial pattern and structural characteristics of cities in late feudal China based on multiple correlation and geographic information system spatial analysis, using 58 local Chinese chronicle maps of Jiangsu in the Qing Dynasty as research material. The elements in the city map were dominated by the types of official buildings, transportation facilities, and religious buildings. The urban spatial pattern can be classified into four types, such as extraverted and introverted, with each type having an aggregated spatial distribution and a gradual introverted orientation in time. The urban spatial structure can also be divided into four types: traditional, axial, random, and composite. Spatial distribution of each type is relatively stable, with little change over time. The geographic environment and the traditional concept of city building are the basic reasons for the formation of the spatial pattern and structure. The flood disaster, commercial and military factors contribute to the diverse structures. Our study demonstrates the feasibility of quantifying the ancient Chinese chronicles’ city maps. The findings have important value for contemporary ancient city restoration and shaping urban characteristics.

Abstract Background We have previously identified an unsuspected role for GJB3 showing that the deficiency of this connexin protein induces aneuploidy in human and murine cells and accelerates cell transformation as well as tumor formation in xenograft models. The molecular mechanisms by which loss of GJB3 leads to aneuploidy and cancer initiation and progression remain unsolved. Methods GJB3 expression levels were determined by RT-qPCR and Western blot. The consequences of GJB3 knockdown on genome instability were assessed by metaphase chromosome counting, multinucleation of cells, by micronuclei formation and by the determination of spindle orientation. Interactions of GJB3 with α-tubulin and F-actin was analyzed by immunoprecipitation and immunocytochemistry. Consequences of GJB3 deficiency on microtubule and actin dynamics were measured by live cell imaging and fluorescence recovery after photobleaching experiments, respectively. Immunohistochemistry was used to determine GJB3 levels on human and murine bladder cancer tissue sections. Bladder cancer in mice was chemically induced by BBN-treatment. Results We find that GJB3 is highly expressed in the ureter and bladder epithelium, but it is downregulated in invasive bladder cancer cell lines and during tumor progression in both human and mouse bladder cancer. Downregulation of GJB3 expression leads to aneuploidy and genomic instability in karyotypically stable urothelial cells and experimental modulation of GJB3 levels alters the migration and invasive capacity of bladder cancer cell lines. Importantly, GJB3 interacts both with α-tubulin and F-actin. The impairment of these interactions alters the dynamics of these cytoskeletal components and leads to defective spindle orientation. Conclusion We conclude that deregulated microtubule and actin dynamics have an impact on proper chromosome separation and tumor cell invasion and migration. Consequently, these observations indicate a possible role for GJB3 in the onset and spreading of bladder cancer and demonstrate a molecular link between enhanced aneuploidy and invasive capacity cancer cells during tumor cell dissemination. IntroductionPreserving the marine ecological environment and safeguarding marine species is a global priority. However, human overfishing has led to a drastic decline in fish species with longer growth cycles, disrupting the equilibrium of the marine ecosystem. To address this issue, researchers are turning to deep learning techniques and state-of-the-art underwater devices, such as underwater robots, to explore the aquatic environment and monitor the activities of endangered populations. This approach has emerged as a focal point of recent research in protecting the marine ecological environment. This study employs a deep learning-based object detection algorithm to identify fish species in complex underwater environments.MethodsThe algorithm is built upon the You Only Look Once version 7(YOLOv7) algorithm, with the addition of the attention mechanism Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) in the network’s backbone. CBAM enhances the feature maps through the fusion of spatial attention and channel attention, ultimately improving the robustness and accuracy of the model’s inference by replacing the original loss function CIoU with SCYLLAIntersection over Union(SIoU). In this paper, the rockfish pictures in the dataset Label Fishes in the Wild published by the National Marine Fisheries Service are selected, and the underwater image enhancement model (UWCNN) is introduced to process the pictures.ResultThe experimental results show that the mean average precision (mAP) value of the improved model on the test set is 94.4%, which is 3.5% higher than the original YOLOv7 model, and the precision and recall rate are 99.1% and 99%, respectively. The detection performance of the algorithm in the field of complex underwater environment is improved.DiscussionThe underwater fish detection scheme proposed in this study holds significant practical value and significance in promoting the conservation of marine ecosystems and the protection of fish species.

Introduction Evidence indicates that physicians’ smoking cessation advice is significant for tobacco control, which is an impetus to encourage smoking cessation among smokers, but the estimated influence of physicians’ smoking cessation advice on smokers’ intention to quit is limited in Shanghai, China. Methods We enrolled 1104 participants who were current smokers in the SJ (Songjiang) and FX (Fengxian) districts in Shanghai in 2021. An electronic questionnaire was used to collect data and SAS 9.4 was used for data analysis. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression was used to calculate odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to estimate the influence of the assumed physicians’ advice for smoking cessation on current smokers’ smoking cessation plan. Results A total of 1104 participants provided information of which 914 were male smokers (82.8%) and 190 (17.2%) were female smokers. BackgroundHLRCC-associated RCC (hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer-associated renal cell carcinoma) caused by germline mutations of the fumarate hydratase (FH) gene is a rare autosomal dominant genetic renal cancer. At present, there are no reports of bilateral kidneys with HLRCC-associated RCC, let alone safe pregnancy after twice partial nephrectomy for bilateral kidney HLRCC-associated RCC.Case presentationWe report a 25-year-old woman with bilateral renal tumors detected by ultrasound screening during a routine checkup. CT revealed a soft tissue mass in the parenchyma of the left kidney and a nodular soft tissue mass in the lower pole of the right kidney. She underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic left partial nephrectomy and underwent laparoscopic right partial nephrectomy 3 months after the first surgery. Heterozygous mutation in the FH gene on the patient’s tumor tissue was detected by genetic testing. Combined with the patient’s medical history, microstructure and immunohistochemical staining of tumor tissue, and genetic test results, the pathological reports after two operations concluded HLRCC-associated RCC. Then, she was injected with interferon and nivolumab as a preventative treatment against tumor recurrence. Up to 38 months after surgery, having given birth to a baby, till now there was no tumor progression.ConclusionsThis is a clinically significant case, as it provides a reference for pregnancy in patients undergoing partial nephrectomy for bilateral kidneys with HLRCC-associated RCC and may indicate an effective approach to preventing tumor recurrence by nivolumab in patients with HLRCC-associated RCC.

Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) as an evidence-based interventional treatment has been used and approved for clinical use in a variety of pathological states including peripheral neuropathic pain; however, until now, it has not been used for the treatment of spinal cord injury- (SCI-) induced central neuropathic pain. This paper reviews the underlying mechanisms of SCS-induced analgesia and its clinical application in the management of peripheral and central neuropathic pain. Evidence from recent research publications indicates that nociceptive processing at peripheral and central sensory systems is thought to be modulated by SCS through (i) inhibition of the ascending nociceptive transmission by the release of analgesic neurotransmitters such as GABA and endocannabinoids at the spinal dorsal horn; (ii) facilitation of the descending inhibition by release of noradrenalin, dopamine, and serotonin acting on their receptors in the spinal cord; and (iii) activation of a variety of supraspinal brain areas related to pain perception and emotion. These insights into the mechanisms have resulted in the clinically approved use of SCS in peripheral neuropathic pain states like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS). However, the mechanisms underlying SCS-induced pain relief in central neuropathic pain are only partly understood, and more research is needed before this therapy can be implemented in SCI patients with central neuropathic pain.

The article presents a case of an 85-year-old male patient with hypertension and atopic dermatitis (AD) who developed purpuric drug eruption during treatment with dupilumab. It informs that dupilumab has been shown to be effective in patients with moderate-to-severe AD with a low profile of side-effects, including conjunctivitis, reactivation of oral herpes simplex, and injection site reaction.
