To maintain the stability of temperature and displacement of runway in frozen soil regions and ensure the safety of the aircraft taking off and landing, the runway with the parallel perforated ventilation subgrade is proposed. The numerical model of runway is established and verified by comparing with the air velocity field, temperature field, and displacement field in previous studies. Results show the parallel perforated ventilation subgrade is suitable for runway in frozen soil regions, and effectively reduce temperature and maintain stability of runway. The displacement of runway decreases rapidly after the subgrade is cooled by the parallel perforated ventilation for the first year, and tends to a fluctuated range of −2.5–0 mm after the tenth year. The maximum thawing settlement of runway appears on December 20th every year. The displacement of runway is increasing from the center of pavement to the natural surface, and the lateral inhomogeneous displacement between pavement and natural surface increases year by year. The annual maximum displacement in the center of pavement decreases rapidly in the first five years, then decreases slowly, and tends to fluctuate steadily after the seventeenth year. This study provides technical support for the design and construction, operation and maintenance of runway.

This study comprehensively examines how combining γ-irradiation and enzymatic modification influences the microstructure and physicochemical properties of dietary fiber (DF) obtained from defatted rice bran. The resulting yields of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) and insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) were measured at 13.38 ± 0.40 g/100 g and 52.19 ± 0.97 g/100 g, respectively. The modifications led to a diminish in particle size, an increase in specific surface area, and an improvement in water-holding capacity, oil-holding capacity, swelling capacity, glucose adsorption capacity, and cholesterol adsorption capacity. Furthermore, the modified DF exhibited enhanced anti-digestive properties and probiotic activity. Cluster and principal component analysis results revealed that the modified SDF exhibited superior functional properties. Correlation analysis indicated a noticeable relationship between the monosaccharide composition of DF and its functional characteristics. These findings suggest that γ-irradiation combined with enzymatic modification represents a viable approach for enhancing the quality of rice bran DF.

ABSTRACT: Fermentation of feed with probiotic and biofunctional properties has gained global attention for its potential to enhance digestive absorption and improve overall functional quality. This study investigates the antioxidant capacity and expression of antioxidant-related genes in broiler chickens fed with fermented corn gluten meal (FCGM) containing mixed microbial cultures. Seventy-two male Yellow-Feathered broiler chickens were randomly assigned to 2 groups, each consisting of 3 replicates, and were fed experimental diets containing either corn gluten meal or FCGM for 42 d. The antioxidant capacity of FCGM was assessed in vivo. Chickens fed with FCGM exhibited significant increases in serum glutathione concentration, as well as enhanced activities of total superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase (CAT) in their serum. Similar trends were observed in the liver, specifically in the activities of glutathione peroxidase and CAT. Additionally, the expression levels of key antioxidant-related genes in the liver, such as glutathione synthase, superoxide dismutase 1, superoxide dismutase 2, CAT, and glutathione peroxidase 1, were examined. The results indicated that FCGM significantly enhanced antioxidant capacity in broiler chickens. This study highlights the potential benefits of utilizing solid-state fermentation with mixed microbial cultures to improve the antioxidant properties of corn gluten meal, thereby contributing to the overall health and well-being of broiler chickens.

The herpesvirus UL51 protein is a multifunctional tegument protein involved in the regulation of multiple aspects of the viral life cycle. This article reviews the biological characteristics of the UL51 protein and its functions in herpesviruses, including participating in the maintenance of the viral assembly complex (cVAC) during viral assembly, affecting the production of mature viral particles and promoting primary and secondary envelopment, as well as its positive impact on viral cell-to-cell spread (CCS) through interactions with multiple viral proteins and its key role in the proliferation and pathogenicity of the virus in the later stage of infection. This paper discusses how the UL51 protein participates in the life cycle of herpesviruses and provides new ideas for further research on UL51 protein function.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors enhance the tumor-killing ability of T-cells in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), thereby boosting overall survival (OS) and transforming treatment for advanced stages. However, challenges persist, including low response rates and the absence of effective markers for candidate selection. This study evaluated the impact of hemoglobin, albumin, and platelet (HALP), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) on immunotherapy efficacy and survival in advanced NSCLC. Furthermore, the study aimed to develop a nomogram based on these parameters. Clinical and hematological data from patients diagnosed with NSCLC who received immunotherapy were analyzed. Efficacy was assessed using the immune Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (iRECIST), and progression-free survival (PFS) and OS were analyzed. Prediction models were based on baseline and post-treatment HALP, NLR, and PLR. The 203 included patients had a median follow-up of 16 months, a median PFS (mPFS) of 7 months (6.0 – 8.0), while the median OS (mOS) was not available (24.0 – not available). The PLR before treatment (PLR0) was linked to a higher disease control rate (DCR) (odds ratio [OR] = 0.258), while initial immunotherapy and NLR after four cycles of treatment (NLR4C) significantly boosted the objective response rate (ORR). Cox regression showed that HALP before treatment (HALP0), HALP after four cycles of treatment (HALP4C), and NLR before treatment (NLR0) significantly influenced PFS. Additionally, HALP0, NLR0, and PLR after four cycles of treatment (PLR4C) were associated with OS. The C-indices for PFS and OS were 0.823 and 0.878, respectively, indicating good prediction accuracy. HALP, NLR, and PLR at various time points effectively predicted immunotherapy response in advanced NSCLC patients. Low HALP with high NLR and PLR indicated a poor prognosis. The findings can provide the basis for stratified randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in the future.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to investigate the association between the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index in early pregnancy and the development of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in the second trimester. The primary objectives were to evaluate the predictive potential of the TyG index for GDM, determine the optimal threshold value of the TyG index for GDM assessment, and compare the predictive performance of the TyG index alone versus its combination with maternal age and pre-pregnancy body mass index on GDM. Moreover, the study explored the association between the TyG index in early pregnancy and the risk of other pregnancy-related complications (PRCs), such as placental abruption and gestational hypertension. To investigate the optimal extraction process and functional characteristics of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) from corn bran. This study used corn bran, a by-product of corn processing, as raw material to extract soluble dietary fiber from corn bran through composite enzyme modification. The optimal process parameters were determined through single factor experiments and response surface methodology optimization, and their physicochemical properties were studied. The results showed that the extraction yield of SDF reached the highest value of 16.64%±0.21% when the content of cellulase was 1.5%, the content of xylanase was 1%, the enzymolysis temperature was 55 ℃ and enzymolysis time was 150 min. Its solubility was 87.63%±0.43%, the holding water capacity was 2.87±0.16 g/g, the oil holding capacity was 2.30±0.12 g/g, the glucose adsorption capacity was 5.32±0.12 mmol/g. Under simulated stomach (pH2.0) and intestinal environment (pH7.0), cholesterol adsorption capacity was 11.74±0.15 and 42.93±0.08 mg/g and sodium cholacte adsorption capacity was 15.43±0.17 and 50.67±0.10 mg/g, respectively. The research results can provide theoretical reference for the development and utilization of soluble dietary fiber from corn bran.

Abstract Poor sleep health is associated with a wide array of increased risk for cardiovascular, metabolic and mental health problems as well as all-cause mortality in observational studies, suggesting potential links between sleep health and lifespan. However, it has yet to be determined whether sleep health is genetically or/and causally associated with lifespan. In this study, we firstly studied the genome-wide genetic association between four sleep behaviors (short sleep duration, long sleep duration, insomnia, and sleep chronotype) and lifespan using GWAS summary statistics, and both sleep duration time and insomnia were negatively correlated with lifespan. Then, two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) and multivariable MR analyses were applied to explore the causal effects between sleep behaviors and lifespan. We found that genetically predicted short sleep duration was causally and negatively associated with lifespan in univariable and multivariable MR analyses, and this effect was partially mediated by coronary artery disease (CAD), type 2 diabetes (T2D) and depression. In contrast, we found that insomnia had no causal effects on lifespan. Our results further confirmed the negative effects of short sleep duration on lifespan and suggested that extension of sleep may benefit the physical health of individuals with sleep loss. Further attention should be given to such public health issues.

Despite the recent advancements achieved by federated learning (FL), its real-world deployment is significantly impeded by the heterogeneous learning environment, specifically manifesting as devices with various computing capabilities, non-I.I.D. (Independent Identically and Distributed) data distribution and dynamic wireless transmission conditions. Such learning heterogeneity greatly harms the learning performance, e.g., convergence and learning accuracy. Therefore, we introduce the AMA-FES (adaptive-mixing aggregation, feature-extractor sharing) framework with an asynchronous aggregation scheme to address these challenges. To mitigate the impact of the non-I.I.D. data, we propose the AMA scheme to maintain the training stability by compromising between the previous global model and the synchronised local model updates, avoiding abrupt changes to a completely new model. To reduce computation load, we introduce the FES scheme, enabling the computing-limited devices to update only the classifier. To address the asynchronous model updates caused by the transmission delay, we perform asynchronous aggregation with staleness-based weighting. We implement the AMA-FES framework in a practical scenario where mobile UAVs act as FL training clients to conduct image classification tasks. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of the AMA-FES scheme in restoring training stability and learning accuracy without causing extra computation or communication expenditures in heterogeneous wireless networks.

The study of matrix functions is highly significant and has important applications in control theory, quantum mechanics, signal processing, and machine learning. Previous work has mainly focused on how to use the Krylov-type method to efficiently calculate matrix functions f(A)β and βTf(A)β when A is symmetric. In this paper, we mainly illustrate the convergence using the polynomial approximation theory for the case where A is symmetric positive definite. Numerical results illustrate the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

Self-generated magnetic field and electron jet are observed when ultra-intense lasers (>1×1018W/cm2) interact with plasma. It is found that the self-generated magnetic field plays a significant role in the generation of electron jets. The generation mechanism of electron jets under the influence of a self-generated circular magnetic field is examined. It is revealed that magnetic modulation of self-generated magnetic fields can result in the collapse of these fields, consequently leading to the production of electron jets. Furthermore, it has been discovered that the velocity of the electron jets is associated with the maximum growth rate of the modulational instability. As the maximum growth rate of the modulational instability decreases, the velocity of the electron jets is reduced. The present work aids in getting a deeper understanding of the generation of electron jets in relativistic laser plasmas.

Intestinal barrier is an important basis for intestinal function, which can strictly control the exchange of substances between the host and the external environment. An intact intestianl barrier is also the guardian of human health. In this study, the protective effect of corn protein hydrolysate with glutamine-rich peptides (APH) on intestinal epithelial cell barrier was evaluated in Caco-2 cell inflammatory damage model induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Then, the sequences of glutamine peptides in APH were identified by Nano LC-MS/MS, and the structural characteristics of the identified glutamine peptides were analyzed. The results showed that the hydrolysate effectively alleviated LPS-induced cell damage and decreased the inflammatory response by down-regulating the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-8, and IL-1β) and up-regulating the levels of anti-inflammatory cytokine (IL-10). Moreover, the hydrolysate also up-regulated the gene expression of three tight junction proteins (ZO-1, Occludin, Claudin-1) to maintain the integrity of the intestinal epithelial barrier. More importantly, the hydrolysate protected the intestinal barrier function via down-regulating the key genes expression (TLR4, MyD88, NF-κB) in the NF-κB signaling pathway and inhibiting the overexpression of MLCK gene in the MLCK signaling pathway. Finally, 374 corn glutamine peptides were identified from APH, and their structural characteristics showed that corn glutamine peptides had high affinity with membrane proteins. Taken together, these results indicated that APH has excellent potential to protect intestinal barrier function and can be developed into a functional health food.

Introduction: The relationship between sleep loss and cognitive impairment has long been widely recognized, but there is still a lack of complete understanding of the underlying mechanisms and potential biomarkers. The purpose of this study is to further explore the shared biological mechanisms and common biomarkers between sleep loss and cognitive impairment.Methods: The mitochondria-related genes and gene expression data were downloaded from the MitoCarta3.0 and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases. We identified the differentially expressed mitochondrial-related genes by combing the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in sleep deprivation (SD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) datasets with mitochondria-related gene lists. Shared DEGs were then further analyzed for enrichment analysis. Next, the common biomarker was identified using two machine learning techniques and further validated using two independent GEO datasets. Then GSEA and GSVA were conducted to analyze the functional categories and pathways enriched for the common biomarker. Finally, immune infiltration analysis was used to investigate the correlation of immune cell infiltration with the common biomarker in SD and MCI.Results: A total of 32 mitochondrial-related differentially expressed genes were identified in SD and MCI. GO analysis indicated that these genes were significantly enriched for mitochondrial transport, and KEGG analysis showed they were mainly involved in pathways of neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, ATPAF1, which was significantly down-regulated in both SD and MCI, was identified through machine learning algorithms as the common biomarker with favorable diagnostic performance. GSEA and GSVA revealed that ATPAF1 was mainly involved in metabolic pathways, such as oxidative phosphorylation, acetylcholine metabolic process, valine, leucine and isoleucine degradation. Immune infiltration analysis showed that the expression of ATPAF1 was correlated with changes in immune cells, especially those key immune cell types associated with SD and MCI.Discussion: This study firstly revealed that mitochondrial dysfunction may be the common pathogenesis of sleep loss and mild cognitive impairment and identified ATPAF1 as a possible biomarker and therapeutic target involved in SD and MCI.

As we move into the next stages of the technological revolution, artificial intelligence (AI) that is explainable and sustainable is becoming a key goal for researchers across multiple domains. Leveraging the concept of functional connectivity (FC) in the human brain, this paper provides novel research directions for neuromorphic machine intelligence (NMI) systems that are energy-efficient and human-compatible. This review serves as an accessible review for multidisciplinary researchers introducing a range of concepts inspired by neuroscience and analogous machine learning research. These include possibilities to facilitate network integration and segregation in artificial architectures, a novel learning representation framework inspired by two FC networks utilised in human learning, and we explore the functional connectivity underlying task prioritisation in humans and propose a framework for neuromorphic machines to improve their task-prioritisation and decision-making capabilities. Finally, we provide directions for key application domains such as autonomous driverless vehicles, swarm intelligence, and human augmentation, to name a few. Guided by how regional brain networks interact to facilitate cognition and behaviour such as the ones discussed in this review, we move toward a blueprint for creating NMI that mirrors these processes.

Isomaltooligosaccharides (IMOs) are recognized as functional food ingredients with prebiotic potential that deliver health benefits. IMOs have attained commercial interest as they are produced from low-cost agricultural products that are widely available and have prospective applications in the food industry. This paper focuses on the enzymatic production processes of IMOs, as well as its key technology research, including enzyme conversion, enzyme membrane bioreactors, enzyme immobilization and biocatalysis are analyzed. Moreover, the shortcomings of the existing technology are analyzed. Combined with modern biotechnology, the research direction of related enzyme technology in the field of industrial production of IMOs is prospected, which provide some reference for its industrialization development.

The solid-fermented process conditions of producing feruloylated oligosaccharides (FOs) from corn bran were optimized in this study. The fungus Neurospora sitophila (generally recognised as safe, GRAS) was used as fermenting species, and FOs content was considered as the indicator, the single-factor and response surface experiments were performed to optimize the culture medium and culture conditions, including inoculation amount, fermentation time, fermentation temperature, and added amount of water. An FOs yield of 1.52 μmol/g was achieved under the following conditions: 5 g of corn bran and 2% of corn bran weight (w/w) of soybean meal in a 250 mL conical flask, an inoculation size of 1.17×105 spores/flask, a fermentation time of 75 h, a fermentation temperature of 28 ℃, and added water mount of 15.2 mL. The observed yield value was close to the theoretical value predicted by the model (1.56 μmol/g), and increased by 60.83% compared with that of the pre-optimized process. Therefore, the FOs content of the product significantly increased by the optimization of the fermentation process, which offered a novel thought for enhancing the added value and expanding the routes for preparing maize bran-derived FOs.

Abstract Despite advances in cancer treatment, immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) only achieves complete response in some patients, illustrating the need to identify resistance mechanisms. Using an ICB-insensitive tumor model, here we discover cisplatin enhances the anti-tumor effect of PD-L1 blockade and upregulates the expression of Ariadne RBR E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase 1 (ARIH1) in tumors. Arih1 overexpression promotes cytotoxic T cell infiltration, inhibits tumor growth, and potentiates PD-L1 blockade. ARIH1 mediates ubiquitination and degradation of DNA-PKcs to trigger activation of the STING pathway, which is blocked by the phospho-mimetic mutant T68E/S213D of cGAS protein. Using a high-throughput drug screen, we further identify that ACY738, less cytotoxic than cisplatin, effectively upregulates ARIH1 and activates STING signaling, sensitizing tumors to PD-L1 blockade. Our findings delineate a mechanism that tumors mediate ICB resistance through the loss of ARIH1 and ARIH1-DNA-PKcs-STING signaling and indicate that activating ARIH1 is an effective strategy to improve the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy.

A comprehensive investigation aimed to access the impacts of ultrasonic, microwave, and ultrasonic-microwave synergistic modification on the physicochemical properties, microstructure, and functional properties of corn bran insoluble dietary fiber (CBIDF). Our findings revealed that CBIDF presented a porous structure with loose folds, and the particle size and relative crystallinity were slightly decreased after modification. The CBIDF, which was modified by ultrasound-microwave synergistic treatment, exhibited remarkable benefits in terms of its adsorption capacity, and cholate adsorption capacity. Furthermore, the modification improved the in vitro hypoglycemic activity of the CBIDF by enhancing glucose absorption, retarding the starch hydrolysis, and facilitating the diffusion of glucose solution. The findings from the in vitro probiotic activity indicate that ultrasound-microwave synergistic modification also enhances the growth-promoting ability and adsorbability of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum. Additionally, the level of soluble dietary fiber was found to be positively correlated with CBIDF adsorbability, while the crystallinity of CBIDF showed a negative correlation with α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibition activity, as well as water-holding capacity, and oil-holding capacity.

More than 50% of the world population is infected with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Potential anti-adhesive peptides from corn protein hydrolysate were developed using in vitro methodologies to prevent Helicobacter pylori infection. To obtain anti-adhesive peptides against Helicobacter pylori, corn gluten meal (CGM) was hydrolyzed by neutrase, and the hydrolysate (CPHN) was purified by using Superdex peptide gel filtration, Q anion exchange and Mono Q anion exchange. Then, sequences of peptides were identified by Nano-LC-MS/MS, and the structural and functional properties of the identified peptides were characterized. Three novel peptides Pro-Tyr-Ala-Glu-Tyr (PYAEY, PY5), Ile-Ile-Pro-Gln-Cys-Ser (IIPQCS, II6) and Thr-Ile-Ile-Pro-Gln (TIIPQ, TI5) were identified, respectively. PY5 exhibited the best anti-adhesive activity among the three novel peptides, and its anti-adhesive activity was 40.75 ± 0.72% at 4 mg/mL. Meanwhile, PY5 also possessed significant 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging capacity and excellent 2,2′-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging capacity, with IC50 values of 1.650 ± 0.184 and 0.007 ± 0.001 mg/mL, respectively, suggesting that PY5 could alleviate stomach damage induced by Helicobacter pylori infection. In addition, molecular docking and dot blot results showed that PY5 could also conjugate with the Helicobacter pylori adhesins, SabA and BabA, through hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bond inhibiting Helicobacter pylori adhesion. These results indicate that three novel peptides from corn protein hydrolysate have potential anti-adhesive and antioxidant effects and could serve as functional foods or drugs to prevent Helicobacter pylori infection.

Abstract Based on the coupling res model of vehicular and road, the influences of surface layer modulus, surface layer thickness and equivalent modulus of elasticity on the spectrum of the acceleration, surface deflection under wheels, and surface strain at the distance of 0.4 m to 0.8 m away from wheels are analyzed. Results show that the fundamental frequency of the road pavement increases with the growth of surface layer modulus and equivalent modulus of elasticity, and decreases with the increase of surface layer thickness. Both surface deflections and surface strains decrease with the increase of equivalent modulus of elasticity as well as surface layer modulus and thickness. Moreover, when the equivalent modulus of elasticity is more than 2500 MPa and surface layer modulus is more than 4000 MPa, surface deflections and surface strains have a little variation with the enhance of the surface layer modulus and equivalent modulus of elasticity. The solution method of the spectrum of the acceleration and equivalent modulus of elasticity, surface deflection under wheels, surface strain at the distance of 0.4 m to 0.8 m away from wheels, and surface deflection based on surface strain are established. The load bearing capacity assessment method of the road pavement based on surface strain and the spectrum of the acceleration is provided. Finally, the feasibility and accuracy of this method is verified by comparing measured values in field testing. The method in this paper provides a theoretical support for the design, construction and maintenance of road engineering.

In order to explore the protective effect of corn protein hydrolysate on intestinal barrier function, corn gluten meal was used as raw material and Alcalase was used as catalyst for enzymatic hydrolysis in current study. The effects of different enzymatic hydrolysis conditions on the content of glutamine in the hydrolysate were investigated, and the optimum hydrolysis system of corn protein was established. Then the sodium dextran sulfate was used as inducer to construct colitis model, and the alleviating effect of corn protein hydrolysate on colitis in mice was systematically evaluated. The results showed that the optimum hydrolysis conditions for Alcalase were a temperature of 64 ℃, hydrolysis time of 2.5 h, amount of enzyme of 1300 U/g. Under such condition, the content of glutamine in the hydrolysate could reach 8.79%. Corn protein hydrolysate (375 and 625 mg/kg·bw) significantly improved weight loss in colitis mice, reduced the colonic shortening and the disease activity index, diminished the infiltration of inflammatory cells in the colonic tissue, regulated the level of inflammatory cytokines, and played a good role in relieving colitis in mice. This study would provide theoretical basis for expanding high-value utilization of corn gluten meal and developing functional food for intestinal protection.

A novel fibrinolytic enzyme was produced by the liquid fermentation of Coprinus comatus. The enzyme was purified from the culture supernatant by hydrophobic interactions, gel filtration, and ion exchange chromatographies. It was purified by 241.02-fold, with a specific activity of 3619 U/mg and a final yield of 10.02%. SDS-PAGE analysis confirmed the purity of the enzyme, showing a single band with a molecular weight of 19.5 kDa. The first nine amino acids of the N-terminal of the purified enzyme were A-T-Y-T-G-G-S-Q-T. The enzyme exhibited optimal activity at a temperature of 42 °C and pH 7.6. Its activity was significantly improved by Zn2+, K+, Ca2+, Mn2+, and Mg2+ while being inhibited by Fe2+, Fe3+, Al2+, and Ba2+. The activity of the enzyme was completely inhibited by ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA), and it was also dose-dependently inhibited by phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF) and soy trypsin inhibitor (SBTI). However, inhibitors such as N-α-tosyl-L-phenylalanine chloromethyl ketone (TPCK), aprotinin, and pepstatin did not significantly affect its activity, suggesting that the enzyme was a serine-like metalloproteinase. The enzyme acted as both a plasmin-like fibrinolytic enzyme and a plasminogen activator, and it also exhibited the capability to hydrolyze fibrinogen and fibrin. In vitro, it demonstrated the ability to dissolve blood clots and exhibit anticoagulant properties. Furthermore, it was found that the enzyme prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), prothrombin time (PT), and thrombin time (TT), and reduced the levels of fibrinogen (FIB) and prothrombin activity (PA). Based on these studies, the enzyme has great potential to be developed as a natural agent for the prevention and treatment of thrombotic diseases.

Metaverse is envisioned to be the next-generation human-centric Internet which can offer an immersive experience for users with a broad application in healthcare, education, entertainment, and industries. These applications require the analysis of massive data that contains private and sensitive information. A potential solution to preserving privacy is deploying distributed learning frameworks, including federated learning (FL) and split learning (SL), due to their ability to address privacy leakage and analyze personalised data without sharing raw data. However, it is known that FL and SL are still susceptible to adversarial poisoning attacks. In this paper, we analyse such critical issues for the privacy-preserving mechanism in Metaverse services. We develop a novel poisoning attack based on Bayesian optimisation to emulate the adversarial behaviour against FL (BO-FLPA) and SL (BO-SLPA) which is important for the development of effective defense algorithms in the future. Specifically, we develop a layer optimisation method using the intuition of black-box optimisation with assuming that there is a function between the prediction’s uncertainty and layer optimisation parameters. The result of this optimisation provides the optimal weight parameters for the hidden layer, such as the first or the second layer for FL, and the first layer for SL. Numerical results demonstrate that in both FL and SL, the poisoned hidden layers have the ability to increase the susceptibility of the model to adversarial attacks in terms of prediction with low confidence or having a larger deviation of the probability density function of the predictions.

The cloud-based solutions are becoming inefficient due to considerably large time delays, high power consumption, and security and privacy concerns caused by billions of connected wireless devices and typically zillions of bytes of data they produce at the network edge. A blend of edge computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques could optimally shift the resourceful computation servers closer to the network edge, which provides the support for advanced AI applications (e.g., video/audio surveillance and personal recommendation system) by enabling intelligent decision making on computing at the point of data generation as and when it is needed, and distributed Machine Learning (ML) with its potential to avoid the transmission of the large dataset and possible compromise of privacy that may exist in cloud-based centralized learning. Besides, the deployment of AI techniques to redesign end-to-end communication is attracting attention to improve communication performance. Therefore, the interaction of AI and wireless communications generates a new concept, named native AI wireless networks. In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive overview of recent advances in distributed intelligence in wireless networks under the umbrella of native AI wireless networks, with a focus on the design of distributed learning architectures for heterogeneous networks, on AI-enabled edge computing, on the communication-efficient technologies to support distributed learning, and on the AI-empowered end-to-end communications. We highlight the advantages of hybrid distributed learning architectures compared to state-of-the-art distributed learning techniques. We summarize the challenges of existing research contributions in distributed intelligence in wireless networks and identify potential future opportunities.

In this study, corn husk, a by-product formed during corn processing, was used as raw material, and a combination of enzymes was used to prepare corn husk dietary fiber. Single factor experiments and response surface optimization were used to determine the optimal process parameters and study its functionality. The results showed that the addition of alkaline protease was 0.742%, pH was 10, temperature was 54 ℃, and enzymatic hydrolysis was 4 h. Starch complex enzymatic hydrolysis conditions was as follows: The addtion of starch complex enzyme (amylase:saccharification enzyme=1:1 (m/m)) was 0.727%, pH was 6.76, temperature was 65 ℃, and enzymatic hydrolysis was 2 h. Under the optimal conditions, the dietary fiber content of corn husk reached the highest (86.65%±0.72%). Its water holding capacity was 3.93±0.17 g/g, and its swelling property was 3.70±0.20 mL/g. The oil holding capacity for soybean oil, corn oil, rapeseed oil and lard oil were 1.80±0.04, 2.59±0.01, 2.53±0.06, 3.47±0.19 g/g, respectively. Cholesterol adsorption in gastric environment and intestinal environment were 0.63±0.03 mg/g and 0.31±0.02 mg/g, respectively. The corn husk dietary fiber had good adsorption to different concentrations of glucose solution, and had a strong ability to inhibit fat digestion in vitro.

The glutinous rice starch (GRS) regeneration process could lead to decreased product quality and shorter shelf life. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of an ethanol extract of tea (EET) on the regeneration properties of GRS. The microstructure of starch was determined via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy was used to determine the microstructure of starch-polyphenol molecular groups, an X-ray diffraction (XRD) instrument was used to determine the starch crystal structure, a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) was used to determine the thermodynamic properties of starch, and the inhibitory effect of EET on GRS regeneration was comprehensively evaluated. The effect of EET on the in vitro digestion properties of GRS was also determined. The results showed that the addition of EET in GRS resulted in an increase in solubility and swelling power and a decrease in crystallinity and ΔHr. Compared to the control group, when retrograded for 10 days, the ΔHr of GRS with 1%, 2.5%, 5%, and 10% addition of EET decreased by 34.61%, 44.53%, 52.93%, and 66.79%, respectively. Furthermore, the addition of EET resulted in a decrease in the content of RDS and an increase in the content of SDS and RS in GRS. It was shown that the addition of EET could significantly inhibit the retrogradation of GRS, improve the processability, and prolong the shelf life of GRS products.

Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) plays a pivotal role in constraining alcohol metabolism. Assessing the ADH-activating activity in vitro can provide insight into the capacity to accelerate ethanol metabolism in vivo. In this study, ADH-activating peptides were prepared from corn protein meal (CGM) using enzymatic hydrolysis, and these peptides were subsequently identified following simulated gastrointestinal digestion and their absorption through the Caco-2 cell monolayer membrane. The current investigation revealed that corn protein hydrolysate hydrolyzed using alcalase exhibited the highest ADH activation capability, maintaining an ADH activation rate of 52.93 ± 2.07% following simulated gastrointestinal digestion in vitro. After absorption through the Caco-2 cell monolayer membrane, ADH-activating peptides were identified. Among them, SSNCQPF, TGCPVLQ, and QPQQPW were validated to possess strong ADH activation activity, with EC50 values of 1.35 ± 0.22 mM, 2.26 ± 0.16 mM, and 2.73 ± 0.13 mM, respectively. Molecular Docking revealed that the activation of ADH occurred via the formation of a stable complex between the peptide and the active center of ADH by hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions. The results of this study also suggest that corn protein hydrolysate could be a novel functional dietary element that helps protects the liver from damage caused by alcohol and aids in alcohol metabolism.

Cordycepin production in the submerged culture of Cordyceps militaris was demonstrated using hydrolyzed corn processing protein by-products, known as corn steep liquor hydrolysate (CSLH), as an alternative nitrogen source. The growth, metabolism, and cordycepin production of Cordyceps militaris were evaluated under various concentrations of CSLH induction. The results demonstrated that CSLH addition had positive effects on the growth and cordycepin production with various C. militaris strains. The optimum strain, C. militaris GDMCC5.270, was found to effectively utilize CSLH to promote mycelium growth and cordycepin production. Low concentrations of CSLH (1.5 g/L) in the fermentation broth resulted in 343.03 ± 15.94 mg/L cordycepin production, which was 4.83 times higher than that of the group without CSLH. This also enhanced the metabolism of sugar, amino acids, and nucleotides, leading to improved cordycepin biosynthesis. The increase in key amino acids, such as glutamic acid, alanine, and aspartic acid, in the corn steep liquor hydrolysate significantly enhanced cordycepin yield. The corn steep liquor hydrolysate was confirmed to be a cost-effective accelerator for mycelium growth and cordycepin accumulation in C. militaris, replacing partial peptone as a cheap nitrogen source. It serves as a suitable alternative for efficient cordycepin production at a low cost.

FHY3 and FAR1 serve as positive regulators of the phyA-mediated far-red light signal pathway, influencing plant growth and development by regulating the expression of downstream genes. However, little is known about the FAR1/FHY3 family in Brassica species. A total of 21 members of the BnFAR1/FHY3 gene family were identified in the Brassica napus genome, exhibiting an uneven distribution across ten B. napus chromosomes. A phylogenetic analysis showed that the BnFAR1/FHY3 family could be divided into four subfamilies. Putative cis-elements in the BnFAR1/FHY3 promoter regions were also identified, which were potentially involved in phytohormone, light and abiotic stress responses (shading, low-temperature, etc.). Additionally, qRT-PCR results indicated that the expression levels of BnFAR1-10, BnFAR1-11, BnFAR1-21 and BnFAR1-4 decreased under shading stress. The expression of BnFAR1-10, BnFAR1-11 and BnFAR1-21 increased under low-temperature stress, whereas the expression of BnFAR1-4 did not change. In addition, the results of the tissue expression analysis showed that most of the genes exhibited the lowest expression in pollen and the highest expression in the 54-day silique. This study screened a batch of BnFHY3/BnFAR1 gene resources, which will contribute to further research on the functional characteristics of BnFHY3/BnFAR1 family members in growth, development and the stress response.

Nanohydrogels show great potential as efficient drug carriers due to their biocompatibility, low toxicity, and high water absorbability. In this paper, we prepared two O-carboxymethylated chitosan (OCMC)-based polymers functionalized with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and amino acid. The structures of the polymers were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy. Morphological study was carried out on a Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), and the results indicated that the two polymers had irregular spheroidal structure with some pores distributed on their surface. The average particle diameter was below 500 nm, and the zeta potential was above +30 mV. The two polymers were further used for preparing nanohydrogels loaded with anticancer drugs lapatinib and ginsenoside Rg1, and the resulting nanohydrogels showed high drug loading efficiency and pH-sensitive (pH = 4.5) drug release behavior. In vitro cytotoxicity investigation revealed that the nanohydrogels exhibited high cytotoxicity against lung cancer (A549) cells. In vivo anticancer investigation was performed in a transgenic Tg(fabp10:rtTA2s-M2; TRE2:EGFP-krasV12) zebrafish model. The results showed that the synthesized nanohydrogels significantly inhibited the expression of EGFP-krasv12 oncogene in zebrafish liver, and the L-arginine modified OCMC-g-Suc-β-CD nanohydrogels loading lapatinib and ginsenoside Rg1 showed the best results.

Background: Follicular lymphoma (FL), an indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), is generally incurable. Favourable prognosis and durable remission are crucial for FL patients. The genetic mutation spectrum provides novel biomarkers for determining the prognosis of FL patients, but its detection is easily affected by the collection of tumour tissue biopsies. In this study, we aimed to describe the mutational landscape of FL using circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) samples and to explore the relationship between mutations and prognostic indicators of clinical outcome in patients with newly diagnosed follicular lymphoma and the prognostic value of such mutations.Methods: A total of 28 patients with newly diagnosed FL were included in this study. A targeted NGS-based 59-gene panel was used to assess the ctDNA mutation profiles. Differences in clinical factors between patients carrying mutations and those without mutations were analysed. We also explored the relationship between gene mutation status, mean VAFs (variant allele frequencies) and clinical factors. The Kaplan‒Meier method was applied to analyse the overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) of patients carrying mutations and those without mutations.Results: ctDNA mutations were detectable in 21 (75%) patients. The most commonly mutated genes were CREBBP (54%, 15/28), KMT2D (50%, 14/28), STAT6 (29%, 8/28), CARD11 (18%, 5/28), PCLO (14%, 4/28), EP300 (14%, 4/28), BCL2 (11%, 3/28), and TNFAIP3 (11%, 3/28), with a mutation frequency of >10%. Patients with detectable ctDNA mutation tended to present with advanced Ann Arbor stage (III-IV) (p = 0.009), high FLIPI risk (3–5) (p = 0.023) and severe lymph node involvement (No. of involved areas ≥5) (p = 0.02). In addition, we found that the mean VAF was significantly higher in patients with advanced Ann Arbor stage, high-risk FLIPI, elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH: 0–248U/L), advanced pathology grade, bone marrow involvement (BMI) and lymph node involvement. Additionally, KMT2D, EP300, and STAT6 mutations were associated with inferior PFS (p < 0.05).Conclusion: We described the ctDNA mutation landscapes in Chinese patients with newly diagnosed FL and found that ctDNA VAF means reflect tumour burden. Moreover, PFS was shorter in patients with KMT2D, EP300 and STAT6 mutations.

In this scholarly discourse, we present proof of the existence of unique fixed points in b-metric spaces for hybrid rational contractions. Moreover, we establish a common fixed point theorem for four self-mappings, assuming S-compatibility for two pairs of self-mappings within the framework of b-metric spaces. As a practical demonstration of the aforementioned results, we apply them to a type of integral equation and derive a theorem that guarantees the existence of solutions.

China faces a persistent deficiency in feed protein resources. Enhancing the utilization efficiency of indigenous feed protein resources emerges as a viable strategy to alleviate the current deficit in protein feed supply. Corn gluten meal (CGM), characterized by a high proportion of crude protein and glutamine, is predominantly employed in animal feed. Nonetheless, the water-insolubility of CGM protein hampers its protein bioavailability when utilized as feed material. The aim of this study was to augment protein bioavailability, liberate glutamine peptides from CGM, and produce glutamine-enriched CGM fermented feed. We executed a co-fermentation protocol using Bacillus subtilis A5, Lactobacillus 02002, and acid protease to generate the CGM fermented feed. Subsequent in vivo experiments with broilers were conducted to assess the efficacy of the fermented product. The findings revealed that the soluble protein, glutamine, small peptides, and lactic acid contents in the fermented feed increased by 69.1%, 700%, 47.6%, and 125.9%, respectively. Incorporating 15% and 30% CGM fermented feed into the diet markedly enhanced the growth performance and intestinal health of broilers, positively modulated the cecal microbiota structure, and augmented the population of beneficial bacteria, specifically Lactobacillus. These results furnish both experimental and theoretical foundations for deploying CGM fermented feed as an alternative protein feed resource.

Abstract Background Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent and serious complication in patients with primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS). We aimed to evaluate the influencing factors of AKI in patients with PNS, to provide implications for the clinical management and nursing care of patients with PNS. Methods PNS patients who were treated in the Department of Nephrology in our hospital from January 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021 were included. The clinical characteristics and pathological type of PNS patients were evaluated. Pearson correlation and Logistic regression analysis were performed to analyze the related risk factors of AKI in patients with PNS. Results A total of 328 patients with PNS were included, the incidence of AKI in PNS patients was 28.05%. The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), is a significant global pest in horticultural and field crops. Afidopyropen is a novel systemic insecticide with high efficacy against sucking pests, and it is suitable for the management of M. persicae. However, the persistent toxicity and dissipation dynamics of afidopyropen in vegetables remain unknown. In this study, we determined the residual activity and dissipation dynamics of afidopyropen against M. persicae on cabbage and chili. The data showed that the toxicity of afidopyropen against M. persicae lasted more than 30 days; the corrected mortality was greater than 80% 10 days after application and was 50–60% 30 days post-application. The afidopyropen residues on cabbage and chili plants were quantified using ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry. The dissipation half-lives of afidopyropen on cabbage and chili plants ranged from 1.45 to 2.34 days and 3.98–5.98 days at different recommended dosages, respectively. Our findings provide valuable data for the maximum residue limits of afidopyropen on vegetables and will help growers determine the frequency and timing of its application on cabbage and chili.

BackgroundCharacterization of gene mutation profiles can provide new treatment options for patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). However, this method is challenged by the limited source of tissue specimens, especially those of DLBCL patients at advanced stages. Therefore, in the current study, we aimed to describe the gene mutation landscape of DLBCL using circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) samples obtained from patients’ blood samples, as well as to explore the relationship between ctDNA mutations and the prognosis and treatment response of patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL.MethodsA total of 169 newly diagnosed Chinese DLBCL patients were included in this study, among which 85 patients were divided into a training set and 84 were assigned into a validation set. The mutation profile of a 59-gene panel was analyzed by targeted next generation sequencing (NGS) of the patients’ ctDNA samples. Differences in clinical factors between patients with and without ctDNA mutations were analyzed. In addition, we also explored gene mutation frequencies between GCB and non-GCB subtypes, and the relationship between gene mutation status, clinical factors, mean VAF (variant allele frequencies) and the patients’ overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS).ResultsctDNA mutations were detected in 64 (75.3%) patients of the training set and 67 (79.8%) patients of the validation set. The most commonly mutated genes in both sets were PCLO, PIM1, MYD88, TP53, KMT2D, CD79B, HIST1H1E and LRP1B, with mutation frequencies of >10%. Patients with detectable ctDNA mutations trended to present advanced Ann Arbor stages (III-IV), elevated LDH (lactate dehydrogenase) levels, shorter OS and PFS, and a lower complete response (CR) rate to the R-CHOP regimen compared with DLBCL patients without ctDNA mutations. In addition, mean VAF (≥4.94%) and PCLO mutations were associated with poor OS and PFS.ConclusionWe investigated the ctDNA mutation landscape in Chinese patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL and found that ctDNA could reflect tumor burden and patients with detectable ctDNA mutations trended to have shorter OS and PFS and a lower CR rate.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disease, affecting more than 55 million individuals worldwide in 2021. In addition to the “amyloid hypothesis,” an increasing number of studies have demonstrated that phosphorylated tau plays an important role in AD pathogenesis. Both soluble tau oligomers and insoluble tau aggregates in the brain can induce structural and functional neuronal damage through multiple pathways, eventually leading to memory deficits and neurodegeneration. Autophagy is an important cellular response to various stress stimuli and can generally be categorized into non-selective and selective autophagy. Recent studies have indicated that both types of autophagy are involved in AD pathology. Among the several subtypes of selective autophagy, mitophagy, which mediates the selective removal of mitochondria, has attracted increasing attention because dysfunctional mitochondria have been suggested to contribute to tauopathies. In this review, we summarize the latest findings on the bidirectional association between abnormal tau proteins and defective autophagy, as well as mitophagy, which might constitute a vicious cycle in the induction of neurodegeneration. Neuroinflammation, another important feature in the pathogenesis and progression of AD, has been shown to crosstalk with autophagy and mitophagy. Additionally, we comprehensively discuss the relationship between neuroinflammation, autophagy, and mitophagy. By elucidating the underlying molecular mechanisms governing these pathologies, we highlight novel therapeutic strategies targeting autophagy, mitophagy and neuroinflammation, such as those using rapamycin, urolithin, spermidine, curcumin, nicotinamide, and actinonin, for the prevention and treatment of AD.

Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) was one of the most common pathogens to cause viral myocarditis. Circular RNAs as novel non-coding RNAs with a closed loop molecular structure have been confirmed to be involved in virus infectious diseases, but the function in CVB3 infection was not systematically studied. In this study, we identified that hsa_circ_0063331 (circDDX17) was drastically decreased after CVB3 infection by circRNA microarray. In vivo and in vitro, when cells or mice were infected with CVB3, the expression of circDDX17 was significantly reduced, as demonstrated by quantitative real-time PCR assays. Additionally, circDDX17 enhanced CVB3 replication by downregulating the expression of miR-1248 in HeLa and HL-1 cells, and miR-1248 regulated CVB3 replication through interacting with the gene coding for NOTCH Receptor 2 (NOTCH2), and NOTCH2 could upregulate methyltransferase-like protein 3 (METTL3). Taken together, this study suggested that circDDX17 promoted CVB3 replication and regulated NOTCH2 by targeting miR-1248 as a miRNAs sponge.

In this publication, we establish a suitable symmetry structure for orthogonal (α−y−G)-contractive mappings and prove fixed point results for an orthogonal (α−y−G)-contractive via orthogonal metric spaces. We give an application to strengthen our main results from the existing literature to prove the existence of a unique analytical solution to the differential equation by converting it into an integral equation through fixed point analysis.

Abstract This study analyzes the 3D (3D) strain on a pavement by using a model of a vehicle with seven degrees of freedom and that of a road in elastic half-space by using the finite element software ANSYS. The results are as follows: The 3D strain on the two wheels along the centerline was significantly influenced by the superposition of the wheel, and the 3D strain under a single wheel was far higher than that along the centerline of two wheels, and represented the most unfavorable position on the road. The vertical strain consisted mainly of compressive strain at different depths, and that at the bottom of the pavement was slightly higher than that on top. The longitudinal and transverse strains were all compressive strains on top of the pavement and tensile strains at the bottom, respectively. The longitudinal and transverse strains both on top and at the bottom of the pavement were similar. The authors then analyzed the influence of the thickness of the pavement, its modulus, and equivalent resilient modulus on the vertical compressive strain, longitudinal tensile strain, and transverse tensile strain in case of a single wheel. Furthermore, a model to predict the 3D strain under the comprehensive effect of the structural parameters of the road was established. It can provide the basis and a reference for the design, construction, fault detection, and maintenance of roads.

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD) is an economically significant infectious disease of rabbits, and its infection causes severe losses in the meat and fur industry. RHD Virus (RHDV) is difficult to proliferate in cell lines in vitro, which has greatly impeded the progress of investigating its replication mechanism and production of inactivated virus vaccines. RHDV VP60 protein is a major antigen for developing RHD subunit vaccines. Herein, we constructed a TK-deactivated recombinant Swinepox virus (rSWPV) expressing VP60 protein and VP60 protein coupled with His-tag respectively, and the expression of foreign proteins was confirmed using immunofluorescence assay and western blotting. Transmission electron microscopy showed that the recombinant VP60, with or without His-tag, self-assembled into virus-like particles (VLPs). Its efficacy was evaluated by comparison with available commercial vaccines in rabbits. ELISA and HI titer assays showed that high levels of neutralizing antibodies were induced at the first week after immunization with the recombinant strain and were maintained during the ongoing monitoring for the following 13 weeks. Challenge experiments showed that a single immunization with 106 PFU of the recombinant strain protected rabbits from lethal RHDV infection, and no histopathological changes or antigenic staining was found in the vaccine and rSWPV groups. These results suggest that rSWPV expressing RHDV VP60 could be an efficient candidate vaccine against RHDV in rabbits.

This study was designed for determining the effect of particle size on the functional properties of corn bran insoluble dietary fiber (IDF). Results showed that some physicochemical properties were improved with the decrease in particle size. The structure of the IDF was observed by the scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The surface was found wrinkled and sparse, the particle size was smaller, the crystallinity of IDF had increased slightly, and more -OH and C-O groups were exposed. Moreover, the corn bran IDF with a smaller particle size had a better hypoglycemic effect in vitro, and the inhibitory activity of α-glucosidase and α-amylase were also increased significantly with the decrease in particle size (p < 0.05). When the IDF was 300 mesh, the inhibitory rate of α-glucosidase was 61.34 ± 1.12%, and the inhibitory rate of α-amylase was 17.58 ± 0.33%. It had increased by 25.54 and 106.83%, respectively compared to the control treatment (CK) group. In addition, correlation analysis found that the particle size was highly negatively correlated with some functional properties of IDF (p < 0.05), and the content of cellulose was positively correlated with the functional properties of IDF except WHC (p < 0.05). To sum up, reducing particle size was suitable for the development of high value-added IDF products. This study also revealed the potential value of corn bran IDF and provided a new idea for the diversified application of IDF.

In this paper, we propose an alternated inertial projection algorithm for solving multi-valued variational inequality problem and fixed point problem of demi-contractive mapping. On one hand, this algorithm only requires the mapping is pseudo-monotone. On the other hand, this algorithm is combined with the alternated inertial method to accelerate the convergence speed. The global convergence of the algorithm can be obtained under mild conditions. Preliminary numerical results show that the convergence speed of our algorithm is faster than some existing algorithms.

In cellular vehicle-to-everything（C-V2X）system, V2V（vehicle-to-vehicle）-based communication utilizes the spectrum resource of cellular users（CUE）to reduce the load of base stations, and thus realize partial near-field V2V communication.Although the V2V-based communication can improve the transmission rate of system, it causes co-frequency interference.To solve the problem, a dynamic power control scheme with channel inversion was proposed.In this scheme, channel inversion power control on V2V users（VUE）was performed to compensate the truncation interruption caused by limited transmission power in the non-truncated area, where the co-frequency interference between cellular users and V2V users was solved through dynamic power control.Furthermore, the optimal dual solution of objective function was obtained by Lagrange multiplier method and the optimal power allocation was carried out for cellular users and V2V users by bisection method, which met the rate requirements of all cellular users.Finally, the total transmission rate of V2V users was maximized.Numerical simulation results were shown that when the total outage probability of V2V users was 0.866, the proposed scheme was promoted by 48%.

Abstract Objective Arteriosclerosis is an age-related disease and a leading cause of cardiovascular disease. In animal experiments, mesenchymal stem cells and its culture-conditioned medium have been shown to be promising tools for prevention or treatment of arteriosclerosis. On the basis of these evidences, we aimed to assess whether administration of autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Ad-MSC) is safe and effective for treatment of arteriosclerosis. Methods We retrospectively reviewed clinical records of patients with arteriosclerosis who had received autologous Ad-MSC administration at our clinic. Patients’ characteristics were recorded and data on lipid profile, intimal-media thickness (IMT), cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI), and ankle-brachial index (ABI) before and after Ad-MSC administration were collected and compared. Results Treatment with Ad-MSC significantly improved HDL, LDL, and remnant-like particle (RLP) cholesterol levels. No adverse effect or toxicity was observed in relation to the treatment. Background Colonoscopy is widely used for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of intestinal diseases. Adequate bowel preparation is a prerequisite for high-quality colonoscopy. However, the rate of adequate bowel preparation in outpatients is low. Several studies on supplementary education methods have been conducted to improve the rate of adequate bowel preparation in outpatients. However, the controversial results presented encourage us to perform this meta-analysis. Method According to the PRISMA statement (2020), the meta-analysis was registered on PROSPERO. We searched all studies up to August 28, 2021, in the three major electronic databases of PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library. The primary outcome was adequate bowel preparation rate, and the secondary outcomes included bowel preparation quality score, polyp detection rate, adenoma detection rate, cecal intubation time, withdrawal time, nonattendance rate and willingness to repeat rate. If there was obvious heterogeneity, the funnel plot combined with Egger’s test, meta-regression analysis, sensitivity analysis and subgroup analysis were used to detect the source of heterogeneity. RevMan 5.3 and Stata 17.0 software were used for statistical analysis. Results A total of 2061 records were retrieved, and 21 full texts were ultimately included in the analysis.
