Aim Methods Results Conclusion This study was conducted to determine the effect of childhood adverse experiences on the risk of postpartum posttraumatic stress disorder (PP‐PTSD) and postpartum depression (PPD).This descriptive study was conducted with 417 mothers between 1 March and 30 April 2022. Data were collected using a demographic and obstetric information form, the Adverse Childhood Experiences Questionnaire (ACE), City Birth Trauma Scale (CityBiTS) and Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) through the Google Forms platform.The mothers participating in the study had a mean age of 30.47 ± 4.21 years, 65.9% (n = 275) had at least one ACE, 10.3% (n = 43) met all of the DSM‐5 PTSD criteria according to the CityBiTS, and 91.8% (n = 383) had at least one traumatic stress symptom. Correlation analysis revealed weak positive associations between number of ACEs and CityBiTS score (p < 0.001, r = 0.328) and EPDS score (p < 0.001, r = 0.291) and a moderate positive association between CityBiTS and EPDS scores (p < 0.001, r = 0.601). PP‐PTSD was found to be a partial mediator variable between ACE and PPD.The presence of ACE in mothers was found to increase the risk of developing PPD, both alone and when combined with traumatic birth experience. Therefore, we believe that screening for a history of ACE during pregnancy, investigating traumatic birth experiences in the postpartum period, closer follow‐up of mothers with both ACE and traumatic birth experiences and increasing support systems will be beneficial in the prevention and early diagnosis of PPD. AbstractThe aim of this study is to investigate the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Sexual Interest and Desire Inventory-Female (SIDI-F). This methodological study was conducted with 268 women who met the sampling criteria between January and February 2024. Validity analysis was performed using the content validity index, convergent and divergent validity, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis. Pearson product-moment correlation and Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients were used for reliability analysis. To evaluate invariance of the inventory over time, test-retest measurements were conducted three weeks apart and showed no difference in mean scores (p > .05). Corrected item-total score correlations ranged from 0.303 to 0.846 in the positive direction and were statistically highly significant. Adjusted goodness-of-fit index > 0.85 and comparative fit index > 0.90 confirmed the construct validity of the Turkish SIDI-F. The Cronbach Alpha was found to be .88, indicating high internal consistency. The Turkish version of SIDI-F can be used as a measurement tool to determine the level of sexual interest and arousal. This paper investigates the causal effects of grandmothers' geographical proximity on labour supply decisions of married women with young children by leveraging a novel data set from Turkey. We deal with the reverse causality and endogeneity problems arising from mothers' and grandmothers' joint location and labour supply decisions by implementing a two‐stage least squares estimation method using the number of alive grandmothers as an instrument. We argue that grandmothers' proximity can increase mothers' labour supply through their free and flexible childcare services. On the other hand, geographically close grandmothers can reduce mothers' labour supply by imposing the traditional gender norms prevalent in Turkey or requiring them to take on elderly caregiving duties. The overall effect depends on the relative size of these opposing factors. Our findings suggest that living in the same neighbourhood as grandmothers increases the probability of labour force participation and the employment rates of women with young children by 18.2 ppt and 16.4 ppt, respectively. These results are mostly driven by the non‐village sample. The 'traditional gender norm' channel explains the insignificant impact of grandmothers' proximity on the labour market outcomes of mothers who have been raised in villages. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To conduct the Turkish adaptation of the Flight Anxiety Situations Questionnaire (FAS) and the Flight Anxiety Modality Questionnaire (FAM). The FAS measures the anxiety levels in different flight situations, while FAM assesses the somatic and cognitive symptoms of anxiety or anticipatory anxiety in different flight situations. The FAS and the FAM have been adapted to different cultures and used in different studies. 645 adults from different regions of Turkey participated in this study (Mage = 25.58, SDage = 10.43, 59.2% women). A Socio-demographic Information Form, the Visual Analog Flight Anxiety Scale (VAFAS), the FAS, the FAM and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) were used for data collection. Exploratory factor analysis showed that the Turkish forms of the FAS and the FAM had similar factor structures to the original forms. The FAS consisted of three factors and the FAM consisted of two factors with factor loadings between.56 and.85. High Cronbach's alpha scores (.78–.97) of the FAS, the FAM and their subscales supported internal consistency reliability. Convergent and discriminant validity of the scales were supported with correlation analysis and independent samples t-test. The Turkish forms of the FAS and the FAM provided psychometrically sound self-report measures of flight anxiety. It is thought that these measures will be useful in clinical assessments, interventions and future cross-cultural research about flight anxiety in the Turkish community. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are a group of disorders with varied pathophysiology and clinical manifestations. Masticatory and cervical motor systems have a functional relationship. Superficial cervical muscles have greater hyperactivity in myogenous and mixed TMDs than in healthy individuals, demonstrating an abnormal pattern of contraction. This study aimed to demonstrate the effects of superficial cervical plexus block (SCPB) anesthesia during arthrocentesis in patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) internal derangement and headache. Method and materials: This retrospective cohort study included 2 men and 23 women with cervicogenic headache and TMJ internal derangement treated by arthrocentesis, and 40 TMJs with established cervicogenic headaches. The average follow-up period was 9.36 ± 2.679 months. TMJ and muscle pain during mastication, maximum and non-assisted mouth opening, and lateral excursion were recorded. Pain and dysfunction were determined using the visual analog scale. Patients were monitored before, during, and after arthrocentesis while inducing SCPB anesthesia, and vital findings were recorded. In addition, skin surface temperature was measured. Results: Patients experienced a significant increase in their clinical values. Changes in non-assisted mouth opening (mean from 29.65 ± 6.31 to 33.3 ± 5.21 mm) (P < .05), assisted mouth opening (mean from 38.98 ± 7.62 to 43.35 ± 6.17 mm), right excursions (mean from 7.28 ± 2.08 to 9.13 ± 1.86 mm), and left excursions (mean from 7.48 ± 1.71 to 8.90 ± 1.82 mm) were statistically significant (P < .05). Patients were relieved after SCPB, resulting in decreased pain and hemodynamic values. Increase in mean temperature after SCPB was statistically significant (P = .002, P < .05). Conclusion: This study presents a straightforward novel protocol, clinically efficient for arthrocentesis on pain control in patients with TMJ internal derangement and cervicogenic headache. Objective: This study aimed to classify the degree of edema in patients with Reinke's edema (RE) and examine its impact on their voice parameters using both objective and subjective assessment methods. Methods: Objective and subjective voice data of 104 patients diagnosed with RE between 2018 and 2021 were evaluated retrospectively. RE is classified into 4 groups (types 1, 2, 3, and 4). The evaluation included videolaryngostroboscopic examination, acoustic voice analysis, and aerodynamic measurements, GRBAS, Voice Handicap Index-10 (VHI-10), Voice-Related Quality of Life Scale (V-RQOL), and Reflux Septum Index (RSI). Results: Patients with type 1 RE had a significantly lower mean age than those with types 3-- Although there were no significant differences in acoustic and aerodynamic parameters between the groups, it was observed that F0 and the maximum phonation time decreased as the degree of edema increased. The GRBASTotal, G, and R scores of types 1 and 2 were significantly lower than those of types 3 and 4, as were the scores of type 1 S. There were no statistically significant differences between the RE groups in terms of VHI-10, V-RQOL, and RSI scores. Conclusion: It has been observed that as the severity of RE increases, voice perception and quality (especially types 3 and 4) are negatively affected. The aim of this study is to reveal the effects of the use of linagliptin, a DPP‐4 inhibitor due to its beneficial cardiovascular effects, on endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) signaling, which is involved in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular complications related to type 1 diabetes. BALB/c female mice (n = 72) were divided into six groups: control, diabetes+insulin, diabetes+linagliptin, diabetes+linagliptin+insulin, diabetes+TUDCA, and diabetes+TUDCA+insulin. Immunohistochemistry and western blot method, qRT‐PCR, ELISA method, and malondialdehyde (MDA) measurements were performed. Linagliptin administered to the type 1 diabetic mouse heart significantly reduced the expression levels of the total and cleaved forms of ATF6, ATF4, and p‐JNK, caspase 3. Immunohistochemical and western blot analyses revealed that cleaved caspase 3 protein expression was significantly increased in the diabetes+insulin group compared to the other groups. According to ELISA findings, TUDCA was more effective in reducing NOX 1 and MDA levels than linagliptin. While linagliptin decreased the Chop mRNA level, no change was observed in the Grp78 mRNA level. Our findings showed that there was not much difference between the administration of linagliptin alone or in combination with insulin. Our study reveals that linagliptin is an effective therapeutic agent on ERS and apoptotic UPR in type 1 diabetic hearts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: It was aimed to evaluate whether alpha-pinene (AP) had a beneficial effect in the testicular ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) model for the first time. Materials and Methods: Testicular malondialdehyde, total oxidant status, and total antioxidant status levels were determined using spectrophotometric methods. The superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), myeloperoxidase (MPO), 78-kDa glucose-regulated protein (GRP78), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6), and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) levels were determined using the commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. Hematoxylin-eosin staining method was used in the histopathological evaluation. Results: In the IRI group, testicular MDA, MPO, GRP78, ATF6, and CHOP levels were significantly increased, while GSH and GPx levels were decreased compared with the control group (p<0.01). AP application restored these levels significantly (p<0.05). Johnsen scores were also significantly lower in the IRI group compared the control group (p<0.001), and AP treatment increased these scores significantly (p<0.001). Conclusion: These results suggest that AP can protect the testicular tissue against IRI by inhibiting oxidative stress, inflammation, and endoplasmic reticulum stress with its antioxidant properties, thus providing a molecular basis for a novel medical treatment of testicular IRI. The aim of this study was to examine the quality of work life (QoWL) and working conditions of oncology nurses in Turkey. The study utilized a descriptive cross-sectional design. The data were collected via the introductory information form and Brooks' Quality of Nursing Work Life Survey. The study was completed with 138 nurses. The factors affecting QoWL were determined using stepwise multiple linear regression. Nurses had a moderate QoWL, and age, duration of working in nursing, the number of nurses, and the working style were significantly associated with QoWL. To improve the QoWL, the nurses' socio-demographic factors should be considered and working conditions should be improved. Furthermore, well-designed institutional policies should be developed to improve the patient-nurse ratio and provide a quality healthcare. In the current study, Turkish oncology nurses had a moderate quality of work life. Age, duration of working in the nursing, the number of nurses in the unit and the working style were linked to work-related quality of life in oncology nurses. Parion Roman Bath discussed here were built in the first quarter of the 2nd century AD, but new halls were added to the building and other major renovations were made during the last quarter of the 2nd century AD. After these changes, the building remained in use until the 5th century AD, with bathing activities coming to an end at some time after the middle of the 5th century AD. Later, the building was used for different purposes. During the excavation of the praefurnium of the Roman Bath in 2015, an oval-shaped lime kiln was found that was believed to have been built after the bathing activities ended in the building. The remains of wood used to burn marble were found in the firing chamber of the kiln. Samples taken from burnt wood were analyzed by the radiocarbon dating. Radiocarbon dates have been calibrated using the Extended 14C Database and the Revised Calib 3.014C Wet Calibration Program. The analysis revealed the not calibrated date of 1493+/- 67, which indicated the last phase of use of the lime kiln. The calibrated date is between 534 and 641 AD, which also constitutes the date of the finds evaluated in the study. This date constituted a "terminus ante quem" for the lime kiln. The present case study aimed to compare the date obtained as a result of the analysis and the date of the archaeological context and investigate whether the analysis results were compatible with the excavation context. This study aimed to evaluate the prognosis of a retinal autograft that was used to treat a macular hole that occurred after repeated vitreoretinal surgeries. A patient underwent repeated vitreoretinal surgery due to retinal detachment in the right eye, and the internal limiting membrane was also removed during the surgeries. After silicone oil removal, the patient developed recurrent retinal detachment and macular hole, and for this reason a retinal autograft was applied to the macular hole and silicone tamponade was administered. The silicone oil was removed at postoperative 7 months, and the macular hole was observed to be closed on fundus examination at 18 months. The final visual acuity was 5/100. On optical coherence tomography (OCT), the hole in the detached retina was measured as 600 μm in diameter preoperatively, 1020 μm on the first postoperative day, gradually narrowed to 765 μm, and graft integration occurred. During follow-up, the accumulation of hyperreflective spots persisted on the inner surface of the graft tissue and in all vertically extending sections. In en face sections, it appeared as a hyperreflective arc between the graft and host retina with a shadowing artefact. In OCT angiography evaluation, a punctate multiple blood flow signal in the vertical axis of the graft was detected in the early phase at 3 months. This finding persisted at 1 month after silicone removal, and the flow signal disappeared with resorption of the cystic edema. These flow signals were in the same location as the areas of hyperreflective spots on structural OCT. In conclusion, structural OCT and OCT angiography are effective methods for the follow-up of retinal autograft integration into host tissue. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this study is to describe the use of literary language in the period when the work was written by determining the vocabulary in Tanpmar's work titled "19th Century Turkish Literature History". This study was structured with qualitative research methods, and descriptive analysis was one of the qualitative research methods deployed in the study. As a result of this study, the total number of words in Tanpmar's 19th Century Turkish Literature History was found to be 157,578, and the number of words per article was 9,725; 11,202 of these words were proper names, among which 1020 and 1035 of them were determined to be personal names and names of pieces respectively, the rest were names of places, languages, organizations, events, and wars. Moreover, 37,750 nouns, 1,051 verbs, and 11,659 conjunctions were used in the work and both of the Turkish and Arabic/Persian synonyms of 417 words were used together as well. It was also observed that conjunctions such as "and", "with", and "too" were mostly used in the analyzed work, whereas words such as "poetry, work, time" were frequently included as a reflection of Tanpmar's literary direction. While several Arabic-derived words that are not frequently used in Turkey's Turkish are included in the work, it has been observed that their synonymous such as âti (1), istikbâl (12), ikbal (31) were used in the work as well. The 150‐km seismic gap in the Sea of Marmara is the longest section of the North Anatolian Fault that has not ruptured in the last century. Recent geodetic studies suggest that the interseismic coupling along the Main Marmara Fault (MMF) is heterogeneous with locked and creeping segments. Alternatively, the MMF is fully locked, but the strain is localized asymmetrically around the fault due to the deep basins. In this study, we build a 3‐D model of the region, including the basins and the 3‐D fault geometry, to study the competing effects of deep basins and the interseismic locking distribution using the observed Global Navigation Satellite System velocities. We conclude that the basins along the fault localize the interseismic strain, leading to slightly deeper‐estimated locking depths. The on‐land data are too far to constrain the full interseismic coupling, especially in the Central Marmara. The Western Marmara is better resolved, where we infer a ∼50‐km creeping zone. The transition from the creeping to the locked behavior in Western Marmara is around the Ganos Bend. The creeping zone correlates well with a higher rate of diffuse seismicity and repeating earthquakes, implying that the seismicity could be an indicator of interseismic behavior. Variations of earthquake focal mechanisms and associated regional stresses are also consistent with compressional and dilatational quadrants due to the creeping segment. The significant thrust components observed in the 2019 Silivri earthquake sequence north of the MMF can also be explained by the compressional loading due to the interseismic creep further west. Plain Language Summary: The Sea of Marmara, on the western extension of the North Anatolian Fault, is the only part of the fault that has not ruptured in the last century. Recent studies suggest that the interseismic locking or coupling, which is the ratio of interseismic slip rate deficit to the long‐term plate velocity, changes along the fault. Another suggestion is that the Main Marmara Fault is fully locked, and the deep basins cause strain localization and asymmetrical strain accumulation around the fault. In this study, we build a 3‐D model of the region to understand the fault locking and the basin effects on the deformation by using geodetic data. When the basin effects are considered, the estimated best‐fitting locking depths increase slightly. Especially in the Central and Kumburgaz Basin segments, the on‐land data are too far to constrain the full interseismic coupling behavior. Western Marmara is better resolved, where a transition from the 50‐km‐long creeping segment to the locked segment is well‐constrained to be located at the Ganos Bend. This unlocked segment correlates well with a high rate of earthquake activity and repeating earthquakes. We suggest that the heterogeneous interseismic coupling pattern is consistent with off‐fault focal mechanisms.
