Abstract

ObjectiveTo analyze the correlation between personality characteristics and family environment of undergraduate medical students taking psychology course.MethodsIn June 2017， a cross-sectional survey was conducted among 67 undergraduate medical students taking psychology course， and all the selected individuals were assessed using Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory （MMPI） and Family Environment Scale-Chinese Version （FES-CV）. Then Pearson correlation analysis was performed between the original scores of MMPI subscales and the scores of FES-CV subscales.ResultsThe scores of hypochondriasis， depression， hysteria， psychopathic deviate， masculine-femininity， paranoia， psychasthenia and schizophrenia in MMPI of undergraduates were all higher than those of the national norm， with statistical differences （t=2.070~8.350， P

3. Effects of Astragalus Polysaccharides on Growth, Metastasis and Cell Cycle of Lewis Lung Cancer in Tumor-bearing Mice with Qi and Yin Deficiency

Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of Astragalus polysaccharides on the growth, metastasis and cell cycle of Lewis lung cancer in tumor-bearing mice with Qi and Yin deficiency. Methods Lewis lung cancer cells cultured in vitro were randomly divided into control group and Chinese medicine group. Cell cycle was detected by flow cytometry. Among 90 C57BL/6J mice, 10 mice were taken as blank group, and the other 80 mice were treated with Chinese medicine and gastric perfusion of warm smoked shavings. The mice bearing transplanted Lewis lung cancer solid tumor with Qi and Yin deficiency were randomly divided into eight groups. Mice tumor inhibition rate and q value were compared. Peripheral blood cells and bone marrow cells were counted and ELISA was applied to detect the content of serum IL-2, IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-10, HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-2. Results Astragalus polysaccharide arrested Lewis lung cancer cells in S phase; with the increase of drug concentration, cell apoptosis increased gradually; the tumor inhibition rates in the drug combination groups were higher than those of Astragalus polysaccharide groups and cisplatin group, q value was 0.85-1.15; compared with cisplatin group, the number of peripheral blood cells and bone marrow cells, the content of IL-2, INF-γ and TNF-α in moderate-and high-dose drug combination groups were significantly increased, while the content of IL-10, HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-2 were significantly decreased (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Conclusion Astragalus polysaccharides in vitro has inhibitory effect on Lewis lung cancer cells; its combination with cisplatin in vivo could inhibit the growth and metastasis of Lewis lung cancer cells, increase the number of peripheral blood cells and bone marrow cells, the content of IL-2, INF-γ and TNF-α, and reduce the content of IL-10, HIF-1α, VEGF and MMP-2 in tumor-bearing mice with Qi and Yin deficiency.

Abstract

In this work, we present a simple design of a compact and miniaturized wideband bandpass filter (BPF) based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and microstrip line. Through the order extension, the filtering effect and the order of the Chebyshev response of the designed BPF can be indirectly controlled by preserving square notches (SNs) on the SIW. By introducing one or two SNs in the SIW structure, the resonance frequencies of different modes can be controlled, thus achieving dual- and tri-mode BPFs with wideband and low insert loss. The working principle of the designed BPFs was illustrated by modal analysis, field distribution, and equivalent circuit theory. Based on this, the dual- and tri-mode BPFs with center frequencies of 6.8 and 7 GHz were designed and demonstrated numerically. Further experimental results indicate that the proposed tri-mode BPF has low insertion loss (0.25 dB), compact size (0.27λg2), and wideband bandwidth (60%). In addition, the tri-mode BPF achieves a broadband out-of-band rejection of 1.5f0 (f0 is the center resonance frequency) below the −10 dB level, making it highly promising for various applications in related fields. Abstract

Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is the most common complication of diabetes, with several underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, some of which are still uncertain. The cornea is an avascular tissue and sensitive to hyperglycemia, resulting in several diabetic corneal complications including delayed epithelial wound healing, recurrent erosions, neuropathy, loss of sensitivity, and tear film changes. The manifestation of DPN in the cornea is referred to as diabetic neurotrophic keratopathy (DNK). Recent studies have revealed that disturbed epithelial-neural-immune cell interactions are a major cause of DNK. The epithelium is supplied by a dense network of sensory nerve endings and dendritic cell processes, and it secretes growth/neurotrophic factors and cytokines to nourish these neighboring cells. In turn, sensory nerve endings release neuropeptides to suppress inflammation and promote epithelial wound healing, while resident immune cells provide neurotrophic and growth factors to support neuronal and epithelial cells, respectively. Diabetes greatly perturbs these interdependencies, resulting in suppressed epithelial proliferation, sensory neuropathy, and a decreased density of dendritic cells. Clinically, this results in a markedly delayed wound healing and impaired sensory nerve regeneration in response to insult and injury. Current treatments for DPN and DNK largely focus on managing the severe complications of the disease. Cell-based therapies hold promise for providing more effective treatment for diabetic keratopathy and corneal ulcers.
