12. An improved algorithm based on YOLOv5 for detecting Ambrosia trifida in UAV images

Abstract

A YOLOv5-based YOLOv5-KE unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) image detection algorithm is proposed to address the low detection accuracy caused by the small size, high density, and overlapping leaves of Ambrosia trifida targets in UAV images. The YOLOv5-KE algorithm builds upon the YOLOv5 algorithm by adding a micro-scale detection layer, adjusting the hierarchical detection settings based on k-Means for Anchor Box, improving the loss function of CIoU, reselecting and improving the detection box fusion algorithm. Comparative validation experiments of the YOLOv5-KE algorithm for Ambrosia trifida recognition were conducted using a self-built dataset. The experimental results show that the best detection accuracy of Ambrosia trifida in UAV images is 93.9%, which is 15.2% higher than the original YOLOv5. Furthermore, this algorithm also outperforms other existing object detection algorithms such as YOLOv7, DC-YOLOv8, YOLO-NAS, RT-DETR, Faster RCNN, SSD, and Retina Net. Therefore, YOLOv5-KE is a practical algorithm for detecting Ambrosia trifida under complex field conditions. This algorithm shows good potential in detecting weeds of small, high-density, and overlapping leafy targets in UAV images, it could provide technical reference for the detection of similar plants.

Abstract

With the continuous research on the basic theory and application technology of photocatalysis, certain progress has been made in the understanding of the preparation, performance mechanism and application aspects of new photocatalysts driven by visible light. Graphitic phase carbon nitride(g-C3N4), as a chemically stable non-metallic material, has attracted much attention from domestic and foreign scholars because of its environmental friendliness and high plasticity. In recent years, the exploration and application of g-C3N4 based materials in the field of photocatalysis have been developed rapidly. Among them, the strategy of doping non-metallic elements was particularly prominent, which has become a research hotspot in materials science and environmental chemistry and other disciplines.In order to sort out and summarize the relevant researches in a timely manner, the current research status of non-metal-doped modified g-C3N4-based photocatalytic materials in recent years was summarized and reviewd in this paper, the preparation methods of non-metal-doped g-C3N4 and its applications in photocatalysis was systematically discussed, and an outlook was presentd on its future development direction, such as the applicontion of photoatalysis, photothermal catalysis, and piezoelectric photocatalysis, which will the further explored.

Abstract

In view of the multi-physical field coupling and time-varying characteristics of the microwave heating medium process, how to dynamically plan the state characteristics of multiple microwave sources and optimize the material temperature uniformity becomes the focus of this article. To this end, first, algebraic graph theory is used to construct the multiple microwave sources as a multi-agent system, and a perfect communication topology is established to ensure the transfer and sharing of information. Second, according to the real-time temperature distribution of the material, an event-triggered adaptive dynamic planning algorithm is used to co-operate with the power input of the multiple microwave sources to ensure that no new hot spots are generated during the optimization of the temperature distribution using the self-organizing properties of the medium. Finally, a numerical calculation model for optimizing a mixture of integer and continuous variables is solved using the finite-element method. The experimental and numerical results show that this article improves the temperature uniformity by 32.4–73.5% and the heating efficiency by 14.3–39.4% compared to the generic heating model, and the feasibility of the method is verified by the different shapes of the heated material.
