In this article we present our research on the Rec Comtal, a medieval hydraulic infrastructure that provided water to the city of Barcelona. The Rec was abandoned at the end of the 20th century and is currently being recovered as a historical heritage site. In the article we are interested in understanding how the residents of Barcelona relate to the Rec, how the recovery plans might affect them, as the Rec raises questions about infrastructure as private, public or common heritage. Finally, the article considers in more general terms the importance of Imagination and images for an anthropology of infrastructures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Public works have contributed to improving our competitiveness, social welfare and sustainable development of our country. The budgetary adjustments suffered in recent years motivated more than ever the need for adequate control of public investment. For such control to be effective it is necessary to optimize, in its entirety, the overall process of infrastructure development: planning / research / project / construction / operation / reset / removal. This requires that the Administration technical knowledge and expertise contribution to public works. Civil engineers serving the public are an ideal group for this. Paradoxically its presence has been declining in number and importance, a situation that should be reviewed by the Administration for a more professional and efficient public investment control. This review explains, in a summarised way the effects of human infrastructures in Galicia (land, marine and air) on animal welfare of such species with veterinarian interest. A critical analysis is presented about the convenience of certain tools (or means) to control the negative impacts of the mentioned infrastructures including their impacts on the environment. The article discusses the process of south-american integration in the specific case of Mercosur and the cross-border region of the La Plata River Basin from two main questions on. Is a cross-border macroregion effectively in construction in the Mercosur geoeconomical core? What sense cross-borders subspaces can acquire in this changing scenario? Can we still be optimistic about the "openness" of South American borders? The region has potential to have some institutionality even though formal initiatives do not exist to define it as such. The approximation of distinct social groups from one and other side of the border lines, as in the case of the third international bridge to be built on the Uruguay River, between the state of Rio Grande do Sul and or the Misiones Province or Corrientes, Argentina begins to point to a most active performance of local and regional actors towards issues related to cross-border cooperation. An emerging governance in cross-border areas in the Mercosur geoeconomical core is a new aspect in territorial planning in countries of the region.
