In this paper, the theoretical background of the Caspary method of geodetic deformation analysis is described and implemented in a simulated geodetic network in which two epochs of measurements are used. The Caspary approach foresees congruence testing of the geodetic network, the determination of the stable points between two analysed epochs, the transformation of the geodetic network using S-transformation, the calculation of displacements, and, in the last step, the graphical presentation of displacement vectors. Results obtained from the presented example are similar to those presented in the Hannover, Karlsruhe, Delft, Fredericton, München, and robust methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The measuring data from the PIA geomagnetic observatory (Piran, Slovenia) to its server are transmitted via a mobile telephone network. From time to time, this communication is interrupted. For this reason, the wireless communication from the observatory to its server is the bottleneck of the entire system of collection, transmission, storage and processing of measuring data. However, wireless communication offers galvanic isolation of the observatory and protects it against the atmospheric electrical discharges. In the first ten effective rotations of the Sun in 2015 we registered the interruption of transmission and also collected the data about the conditions of the Sun and the conditions of the local weather in the Slovenian part ofIstria. In the observed period, 91.6% of all measuring data were transmitted from the observatory to its server. The majority of interruptions oftransmission were earned by the higher activity of the Sun. We shall use the results ofanalysis of all collected data to improve the reliability of the transmission of measuring datafrom the observatory. The purpose of this paper is to present an analysis of the impact of solid particles on the development of cavitating flow conditions around a hydrofoil. Experimental studies have been conducted in a cavitation tunnel with three different mixtures of particles and water. We used particle-like properties such as are found in river water, and with increasing mass concentration. We performed measurements of torque and the relative noise in the hydrofoil. The point in the formation of vapour phase on the hydrofoil and the pronounced frequency effect were determined by measuring the relative noise. This article describes and evaluates the focus variation method, an optical 3D measurement technique. The goal is to analyse the performance of the method on a series of typical measurement tasks including roughness measurements, form and wear measurements. First, a comparison of roughness measurements between the proposed method and a tactile device on a newly developed roughness standard is made. Results show that both systems deliver Ra values that are comparable to each other with differences of a few nanometers. Afterwards form measurements are performed on a calibration standard with hemi-spherical calottes, showing a repeatability of sphere measurements < 100 nm. Finally, two typical engineering applications are provided The first is wear measurement of cutting tools, the second the inspection and classification of welding spots. Both applications demonstrate the ability of the method to measure steep surface flanks up to 80° and surfaces with difficult reflectance behaviour. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
