Self‐charging power systems (SCPSs) are envisioned as promising solutions for emerging electronics to mitigate the increasing global concern about battery waste. However, present SCPSs suffer from large form factors, unscalable fabrication, and material complexity. Herein, a type of highly stable, eco‐friendly conductive inks based on poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) are developed for direct ink writing of multiple components in the SCPSs, including electrodes for miniaturized spacer‐free triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) and microsupercapacitors (MSCs), and interconnects. The principle of "one ink, multiple functions" enables to almost fully print the entire SCPSs on the same paper substrate in a monolithic manner without post‐integration. The monolithic fabrication significantly improves the upscaling capability for manufacturing and reduces the form factor of the entire SCPSs (a small footprint area of ≈2 cm × 3 cm and thickness of ≈1 mm). After pressing/releasing the TENGs for ≈79000 cycles, the 3‐cell series‐connected MSC array can be charged to 1.6 V while the 6‐cell array to 3.0 V. This paper investigates retracted articles indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) Brazil, using bibliometric techniques to identify the characteristics of these retractions and relevant citation trends. All records of retracted articles from the first record in October 2004 to April 2022 were included. Sixty-seven retractions and 870 citations pre- and post-retraction were analyzed. Results indicate a change of scenario that began in 2015, with recurrences of retracted articles allegedly produced by paper mills. The prevalence of retractions derived from professional misconduct in health research and the frequency of post-retraction citations in health sciences raise concerns in the chain of stakeholders, public health, and scientific development. The PC display market has evolved rapidly in recent years, with new technologies and capabilities like high dynamic range (HDR), motion blur reduction and ultra‐high variable refresh rates being introduced at a rapid rate. However, when it comes to choosing a display, consumers are often at a disadvantage. How can they better understand the capabilities of each display, and trust the specs provided by the manufacturer? For display OEMs, having consistent, measurable display performance parameters around which to qualify and promote their products is also beneficial to product development and commercialization. For the past six years, the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) has released multiple front‐of‐screen performance standards to help consumers and OEMs meet these needs. This paper will review the compliance test specifications for several of these standards, including the newest update to VESA's HDR standard, DisplayHDR v1.2, which will be launched in the first half of 2024. Micro‐LED technology is believed to be the next generation of display, which has attracted increasing interests from academia and display industry. Combined with the efforts of of panel makers, LED manufacturers, equipment and materials makers, the yield and performance of Micro‐LED is becoming more competitive over that of a few years ago. Stamp transfer is still the closest mass transfer technology towards the possibility of mass production of Micro‐LED. Along with more mature inspection and repair, slicing, driving and demura technology, Vistar has developed a full‐process solution for the fabrication of 102 inch large area splicing display, constructed with 4.78 inch Micro‐LED display modules. After the construction of the first Micro‐LED pilot line in Mainland China in Aug 2020, Vistar took another leap in the construction of the first Micro‐LED mass production line, which laid foundation in Sep 2023. This paper aims to investigate literature on digital maturity modelling in order to build a better understanding of this field of research which is gaining increased attention from both public as well as private institutions. The objective of the study is to outline a clear vision of what the main areas of research related to digital maturity models are and ultimately map out particular research directions that could benefit from further academic attention in the future. For this purpose, a bibliometric analysis was employed, relying on academic publishing data obtained from the Scopus scientific database. After selection and filtering, 468 pieces of literature were deemed relevant and were subsequently mapped for analysis using co-occurrence and bibliographic coupling. Results show that there is an exponential increase in academic attention for digital maturity modelling in the last 3 years, with recent interest being focused towards the manufacturing sector and small and medium sized enterprises, while other expected sectors such as e-government have fallen behind. It has also been found that digital maturity modelling is in a divergent stage, producing a large amount of different models and only in the last year there are signs of attempts at converging existing knowledge into fewer models with a more rigorous, quantitative development. Consequently, this paper proposes that a key direction of research for digital maturity modelling should be the addition of quantitative based evaluation of digital maturity components and their effectiveness as part of a digital maturity model. While promoting manufacturing growth is imperative to boost economic growth, potential adverse consequences on natural resources and ecology have created sustainability-related concerns and challenges. In India, with the reform processes deepening further and the business environment becoming more market-oriented over the years, the adoption of appropriate measures for sustainable manufacturing growth under such conditions would require a deeper investigation of the underlying dynamics, particularly to address the impacts of external shocks. This is especially true when external shocks alter market dynamics and, hence, input is used significantly in the manufacturing sector. Given this backdrop, the present paper examines how the major external shocks to the Indian economy during in the post-reform era have altered the resource use patterns in selected manufacturing industries. The paper uses secondary data collected from the KLEMS database of the Reserve Bank of India for the period from 1980–81 to 2019–20 and applies descriptive statistics and econometric techniques to address the research objective. It is found that energy intensity, vertical integration, capital intensity, and rate of growth of total factor productivity decreased over the decades, whereas labour productivity experienced an increasing trend in most industries. However, the trends are mixed in the case of material intensity. Further, the regression results indicate significant effects of external shocks on resource use, factor productivity, and structural changes. There are also industry-specific differences in the nature and extent of such changes. Hence, a deeper investigation of the underlying factors and impacts at a disaggregate industry level is necessary to draw more robust insights. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Technical progress has a tremendous potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by reducing energy consumption, a major concern across production units. However, the existing empirical literature concerning technical efficiency and carbon intensity is scanty. Thus, this paper examines the relationship between technical efficiency and carbon intensity for the organized manufacturing sector of two states, Maharashtra and Odisha, and the all-India level from 2001 to 2018. The paper uses data envelopment analysis to estimate technical efficiency scores. It applies the 2006 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Tier 1 methodology for estimating carbon intensity for each 3-digit manufacturing industry in all three sample cases. The study has used static panel regression and fractional logit regression techniques to examine the deterministic relationship between technical efficiency and carbon intensity. The result shows that technical efficiency is highly sensitive to carbon intensity in the Indian manufacturing industries. The findings also addressed that the size of the industries also reduces the technical performance of manufacturing units. This paper also confirmed that increased profit could boost the Indian manufacturing industries' technical efficiency. Thus, this study addresses that carbon intensity as a proxy for the manufacturing sector's potential to affect climate change plays a crucial role in explaining the technical efficiency variations across industries. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explore the moderating role of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) practices in explaining the relationship between quality management practices (QMPs) and quality performance. Design/methodology/approach: Partial least square-based structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to empirically examine the moderating effect of LSS practices on QMPs and quality performance in Malaysian medical device manufacturing companies. Findings: Findings revealed that both QMPs and LSS practices have a significant and positive effect on quality performance. Furthermore, LSS practices served as a substitute for moderating the positive relationship between QMPs and quality performance in such a way that the relationship becomes weaker as LSS practices increase. Originality/value: LSS is acknowledged as the most well-known hybrid methodology; however, due to its relative newness, it has not been studied in great detail. Unlike previous studies, this paper argued that Lean and Six Sigma practices are distinct from its predecessor TQM practices; moreover, both Lean and Six Sigma practices do not need to substitute QM/TQM practices instead of complimenting the QMPs. In addition, this study adds to the growing body of QM literature by empirically examine the effect of LSS practices in moderating the relationship between QMPs and quality performance. At present, low-speed high-torque permanent magnet motors are widely used in the sampling industry, manufacturing industry and energy industry. However, the research on low-speed high-torque permanent magnet motors is far from enough. The primary difficulty in the initial design of low-speed high-torque permanent magnet motors is the selection of pole–slot ratio. The pole–slot ratio has a great influence on the electromagnetic performance such as torque ripple and the maximum output torque of low-speed motors. Choosing the appropriate pole–slot ratio scheme can make the design of a low-speed motor more efficient. In addition, the optimization design of the motor is also a necessary process. At present, there are many studies on optimization algorithms. However, the research on sample point sampling and surrogate model fitting is not enough. Choosing the appropriate sample point sampling method and surrogate model fitting method can help one obtain a more accurate surrogate model, which lays a foundation for the optimization of the motor. Based on the above analysis, this paper first selects four representative pole–slot ratio schemes for comprehensive comparison of their electromagnetic performances. Secondly, two sample point sampling methods and three surrogate model fitting methods are combined to obtain six surrogate models, and the accuracy of the six surrogate models is compared and analyzed. Finally, a 37kW,160rpm prototype is made, and the comparison of the surrogate model optimization prediction results, the finite element simulation calculation results and the measured results is carried out to further prove the accuracy of the selected surrogate model. Evolving from ethnographic research that determines what meanings are shared within a culture, studies regarding Speech Codes Theory have been conducted with implications for intercultural communication. Arguing for transitivity as speech codes in diverse cultures, this paper aims to describe and explain the transitivity attributes of English-medium Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reports by Chinese and British/American corporations, and the transitivity variances between industries by Chinese corporations. Results reveal that frequencies of transitivity features in the Chinese CSR reports are significantly lower than those in the British/American reports, and that the relational process dominates in the corpus under investigation. Also, cross-industrial comparisons among Chinese corporations show that the mechanical manufacturing enterprises and the iron & steel enterprises share similar transitivity codes, but they differ from the energy enterprises distinctively. The paper concludes that linguistic/cultural contexts, translation strategies, moves in the CSR reports, and industry attributes together contribute to the transitivity codes and communicative conducts in different cultural and industrial backgrounds. This paper might help writers/translators of CSR reports in China better understand lexical and functional conformities and peculiarities reflected in Chinese and British/American CSR reports, enhance their corporate narration in the international communities, and thus reinforce communication with the general public by appropriately expressing and accurately translating transitivity processes. Rapid advances in new-generation information technologies have been the main driving force for the transformation of manufacturing enterprises in Industry 4.0. Digital twin (DT), as a key technology to promote intelligent manufacturing, has shown great potential for manufacturing enterprises to create an industrial intelligence-driven production equipment through in-depth integration of cyber-physical systems. However, the lack of a systematic effective DT modelling method with a supporting evaluation metric is the most important factor restricting the application of DT in manufacturing enterprises. To bridge the gap, this paper proposes a novel multi-level modelling and fidelity evaluation (MLM&FE) method of DT for creating smart production equipment in manufacturing enterprises, which could help enterprises establish an industrial intelligence-driven production environment to quickly respond to changes in the customised global market, thus greatly improving competitiveness of the enterprises. Specifically, this paper firstly designs a reference framework for DT-enhanced smart production equipment, on which an MLM&FE architecture is proposed. Then, key implementation methodologies and tools for MLM&FE are introduced from the perspective of data space modelling, virtual space modelling, knowledge space modelling, model integration and evaluation. Abrasive machining processes have long been integral to various manufacturing industries, enabling precise material removal and surface finishing. In recent years, the integration of non-Newtonian fluids has emerged as a promising strategy to enhance the performance and efficiency of these processes. This review paper provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of research on abrasive machining processes, including abrasive lapping, abrasive polishing, and chemical mechanical polishing, and then analyzes in detail the abrasive machining processes enhanced with non-Newtonian fluids. It explores the fundamental principles underlying the rheological behavior of non-Newtonian fluids and their application in abrasive machining, with a focus on shear-thickening fluids. The paper will begin by introducing the abrasive machining processes, including abrasive lapping, abrasive polishing, and chemical mechanical polishing. Then, the current research status of non-Newtonian fluids will be comprehensively analyzed, and we will explore the enhancement of abrasive machining processes with non-Newtonian fluids. Finally, the paper will conclude with a discussion of the future directions and challenges in the field of abrasive machining enhanced with non-Newtonian fluids. Overall, this review aims to provide valuable insights into the potential benefits, limitations, and opportunities associated with the use of non-Newtonian fluids in abrasive machining, paving the way for further research and innovation in this promising area of manufacturing technology. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the scientific impact of additive manufacturing in recent years, considering its evolution as an Industry 4.0 technology and also in the current context of Industry 5.0. For this aim, advanced statistics and scientometric tools have been used. Design/methodology/approach: This study aims to explore the trends and impacts of additive manufacturing, focusing on its evolution and its relationship with Industry 4.0 and 5.0. For this purpose, a scientometric study and a meta-analysis of data extracted from the scientific Scopus database have been carried out. R programming and specific bibliometric software have been used to conduct the research. Initially, the data were evaluated from various perspectives, including sources, topics and impact indexes, to assess trends derived from the volume of publications, the impact of sources and affiliations, as well as the production segmented by country and the relationships between authors from different countries. Subsequently, a meta-analysis on keywords has been carried out using two distinct clustering methodologies: link strength and fractionalization. The results obtained were compared to establish a specific taxonomy of the AM subtopics, considering AM as a single body of knowledge related to Industries 4.0 and 5.0 paradigms. The analyses carried out have shown the impact and strong evolution of additive manufacturing as a field of knowledge at the world level, both from the point of view of manufacturing processes and from the point of view of materials science. In addition, some differences have been detected depending on the country. As a result of the meta-analysis, four different subtopics have been detected, some of which are highly related to other technologies and approaches in Industries 4.0 and 5.0 paradigms. Additionally, it establishes a comprehensive taxonomy for AM research, serving as a foundational reference for future studies aimed at exploring the evolution and transformative impact of this technology. Findings: The analyses carried out have shown the impact and strong evolution of additive manufacturing as a field of knowledge at the world level, both from the point of view of manufacturing processes and from the point of view of materials science. In addition, some differences have been detected depending on the country. As a result of the meta-analysis, four different subtopics have been detected: one of them directly related to the use of recently developed Industry 4.0 technologies in additive manufacturing. The results provide a starting point for prospective studies to understand the evolution and disruption of this technology. With the rise of influential customers and environmental issues, this paper studies the alliance effect of the manufacturer and its weak customers by differential Stackelberg game. Low-carbon production and dynamic pricing strategies are analyzed in alliance and no-alliance situations. The results find that forming an alliance between the manufacturer and its weaker customer helps them resist the advantages of a stronger retailer. Compared to the no-alliance strategy, the alliance strategy will decrease their profits. The stronger customer needs to set a lower retail price toward the alliance between the manufacturer and the weak customer. And it can narrow the price gap in two situations by increasing its proportion of sales revenue. Moreover, when consumers care less about the product's environmental problems, all the partner firms in the supply chain will price lower and make fewer efforts on low-carbon production. Purpose: Most studies explore the success of mergers and acquisitions through ex ante analyses based on the compatibility of resources and capabilities between the acquirer and target. As more than half of them fail, there seems to be room for enhancing our understanding of when and how acquisitions can actually improve firms' competitiveness. Diverging from these conventional approaches, the authors posit that attention should be at the strategic level. The purpose of this paper, therefore, is to explore the existence of compatibility between acquirers' and targets' competitive strategies and its effect on post-acquisition business performance. Design/methodology/approach: Through the Thomson Reuters Eikon financial and acquisition databases, the authors built a unique data panel of 174 acquirer–target matched acquisitions in the manufacturing sector from 24 different countries between 2000 and 2020. The authors used a two-step System-GMM approach to address the hypotheses proposed in this paper. This methodology allowed to isolate and easily compare the differential effects of each possible combination of strategic similarity and dissimilarity between the target and acquiring company on the latter's post-acquisition strategies. Findings: The need to unravel the motives behind successful acquisitions has gained enormous interest in recent years among academics and managers to improve – or maintain – firm competitiveness. Through a panel data of 174 acquisitions among manufacturing firms (2000–2020), this study shows that differentiated firms improve their business performance by acquiring firms with similar strategies; nevertheless, their performance worsens if the acquired firm follows a cost-leadership strategy. Concerning acquirers with a cost-leadership strategy, the lack of clear behavioral patterns suggests that the lower knowledge absorption capacity associated with these firms might be a decisive factor in being able to assimilate and efficiently exploit the acquired firm's knowledge. Originality/value: Overall, this approach offers a new and valuable perspective for practitioners because it improves understanding of the possible causes of merger failure and opens new attentions to consider in maximizing success and long-term competitiveness. The results of this study bring, thus, an unexpected result to this research: the importance of the acquirer's strategy beyond the similarity or dissimilarity of the strategies of the acquirer and the acquired company. Achieving exceptional financial performance is a primary goal for every management team due to its importance in establishing a solid firm structure and facilitating growth. However, several factors consistently hinder the attainment of this objective, resulting in adverse effects on a firm's performance and financial success. Therefore, this study aims to analyze scholarly publications to understand relevant factors influencing the financial performance of firms in the manufacturing industry. Using keywords in the Scopus database, we identified a total of 808 papers published between 1987 and 2022, and ultimately selected 289 for further analysis based on predetermined criteria. The selected literature was then analyzed in two different ways. First, we discerned the crucial factors affecting the financial performance of manufacturing firms. Our systematic review revealed that organizational characteristics (e.g., CSR practices, strategy, board characteristics, innovation & technology, information, decision-making and communication, and environmental and sustainability practices) play a more significant role in determining the financial performance of a firm than external factors (e.g., market economic parameters, government policies & support, and competition). Second, we employed VOSViewer software to dissect the selected publications, including the creation of bibliometric co-word maps and the examination of bibliographic coupling among journals. The results yielded valuable insights into leading nations, notable journals, noteworthy studies, trending keywords, and prominent publications in this field. Moreover, our research emphasizes the multifaceted nature of financial performance-related factors, offering useful insights for future studies exploring the interplay between factors and the performance of manufacturing firms.
