Both the incidence and prevalence of well‐differentiated neuroendocrine tumours from the small intestine (Si‐NET) are gradually increasing. Most patients have non‐functioning tumours with subtle GI symptoms and tumours are often discovered incidentally by endoscopy or at advanced disease stages by imaging depicting mesenteric lymph node and /or liver metastases while around 30% of the patients present with symptoms of the carcinoid syndrome. Adequate biochemical assessment and staging including functional imaging is crucial for treatment‐related decision‐making that should take place in an expert multidisciplinary team setting. Preferably, patients should be referred to specialised ENETS Centres of Excellence or centres of high expertise in the field. This guidance paper provides the current evidence and best knowledge for the management of Si‐NET grade (G) 1–3 following 10 key questions of practical relevance for the diagnostic and therapeutic decision making. Compared to previous studies that generally detect scientific breakthroughs based on citation patterns, this article proposes a knowledge entity‐based disruption indicator by quantifying the change of knowledge directly created and inspired by scientific breakthroughs to their evolutionary trajectories. Two groups of analytic units, including MeSH terms and their co‐occurrences, are employed independently by the indicator to measure the change of knowledge. The effectiveness of the proposed indicators was evaluated against the four datasets of scientific breakthroughs derived from four recognition trials. In terms of identifying scientific breakthroughs, the proposed disruption indicator based on MeSH co‐occurrences outperforms that based on MeSH terms and three earlier citation‐based disruption indicators. It is also shown that in our indicator, measuring the change of knowledge inspired by the focal paper in its evolutionary trajectory is a larger contributor than measuring the change created by the focal paper. Our study not only offers empirical insights into conceptual understanding of scientific breakthroughs but also provides practical disruption indicator for scientists and science management agencies searching for valuable research. There is increasing demand for a filtering system for scientific papers that can be utilized by researchers in business organizations. In conventional paper filtering systems, relevant papers are selected without sufficiently representing the researcher's interest structure, and thus the accuracy of filtering is not satisfactory. The purpose of this paper is to solve this problem and to propose a method of providing a structured representation of the researcher's interests by clustering papers of interest to the researcher. The similarity of newly appearing papers to the structured representation is calculated and the result of filtering is presented with rankings, resulting in both accuracy and convenience of use. With three researchers as the participants, an experimental evaluation of the filtering was performed by an N-fold cross-validation test, using 2 years of papers from proceedings journals in information science. An accuracy of 44% to 69% was achieved, 9.6% to 17.9% higher than the results of a filtering system without clustering used as the baseline. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Due to the progress of Internet technology and the increase of distributed information on networks, the present approach to knowledge management has been based more and more on the performance of various experienced users. In addition to the increase in electronic documents, the use of paper documents has not been reduced due to their convenience. This paper describes a method of tracking paper document locations and contents using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. This research also focuses on the expression of a task process and the seamless structuring of related electronic and paper documents as a result of task knowledge formalization using information organizing. A system is proposed here that implements information organization for both Web documents and paper documents using the task model description and RFID technology. This paper shows a systematic literature review using HistCiteTM in the context of factor market misallocation in China. Four key research streams are identified: government intervention; misallocation explanation; market distortion and regional factor distortion. Further, the paper identifies three emerging research streams: endogeneity; legislation relating to factors of production; and knowledge management. Factor markets misallocation has been a lasting problem since the market‐oriented reform implemented by the Chinese Government. Frequencies of the number of references per paper were obtained for the information science literature represented by ail papers cited in Information Science Abstracts, volumes 1-6 11966-1971). Almost one-third of the papers had no references. Half of them had four references or fewer; two-thirds had eight or fewer references. The ratio of papers without references to those with references was proposed as a measure of the scholarly status of a field. With more and more information available on the Internet, the task of making personalized recommendations to assist the user's navigation has become increasingly important. Considering there might be millions of users with different backgrounds accessing a Web site everyday, it is infeasible to build a separate recommendation system for each user. To address this problem, clustering techniques can first be employed to discover user groups. Then, user navigation patterns for each group can be discovered, to allow the adaptation of a Web site to the interest of each individual group. In this paper, we propose to model user access sequences as stochastic processes, and a mixture of Markov models based approach is taken to cluster users and to capture the sequential relationships inherent in user access histories. Several important issues that arise in constructing the Markov models are also addressed. The first issue lies in the complexity of the mixture of Markov models. To improve the efficiency of building/maintaining the mixture of Markov models, we develop a lightweight adapt-ive algorithm to update the model parameters without recomputing model parameters from scratch. The second issue concerns the proper selection of training data for building the mixture of Markov models. We investigate two different training data selection strategies and perform extensive experiments to compare their effectiveness on a real dataset that is generated by a Web-based knowledge management system, Livelink. This paper begins with the story that systems science, born of modern Western civilization, began to pay attention to traditional Eastern wisdom to deal with management issues. The consequence of the story is that we should complementarily utilize quantitative and rational analysis results and qualitative and intuitive empirical knowledge to solve problems. As a methodology for implementing knowledge synthesis, this paper presents the knowledge construction systems methodology that promotes knowledge management enhanced by systems thinking. Based on this methodology, it introduces the concept of knowledge synthesis enablers, which are conditions or activities that facilitate knowledge synthesis when promoting research and businesses. This paper shows some results of covariance structure analysis using the evaluation data of applied systems research projects and examines the validity of the assumed enabler candidates. The main challenge of performing safety & reliability analysis in multi‐disciplinary products is the lack of information and knowledge within an organization to guide them in the beginning. In fact, such knowledge can be extracted and consolidated from historical data, technical experiences, and system architectures. This paper proposes an approach to leverage the value of system architecture models, safety & reliability models, and the CBR method to enable a systematic, adaptive, and multi‐disciplinary knowledge management system. As a result, the engineers can retrieve and reuse the information from historical failures to guide their analysis in their existing or new product development. To improve the knowledge in CBR casebase, this paper demonstrates a conceptual idea to leverage the values of FMEA‐FTA integration and SysML relationships. Besides the substantial advantages of adopting information and communication technologies (ICTs), software small medium enterprises (SSMEs) face major challenges largely connected to knowledge sharing, security, and management of data and information. The objective of this paper is to propose a platform backed with the advantages of blockchain technologies, allowing intra‐ and inter‐organizational knowledge and information sharing in SSMEs without losing control and ownership. Blockchain technology has the potential to bring about significant improvements in enhancing business models and processes wherein the authenticity of data is provided by smart contracts at every access point in a distributed information cycle in a transparent manner. The findings will support businesses in enhancing information flow, innovation, and competitive advantage in the current dynamic market. This paper analyzes the influence and predictive effects of knowledge management on job satisfaction. The aim of this paper is to develop a model based on the effects of knowledge management on job satisfaction. The data were obtained by interviewing 520 managers of all levels from manufacturing enterprises in Serbia. The results showed that knowledge management has a complex influence on job satisfaction. It negatively affects the dimensions of Salary, Promotion, and Supervision and positively influences the Additional Benefits dimension, while having combined effects on the other dimensions. In a working environment where knowledge management levels are high, employees may perceive their salaries, rewards, and promotion opportunities as inadequate. This is because they feel they deserve more due to their knowledge, ability, engagement, and the enterprise's success. Serbian enterprises are often unable to pay their employees higher salaries. The theoretical importance of the results is precisely in the fact that the individual relations of the observed dimensions are determined and that the desired model is developed. The practical significance of the work is that leaders and managers, based on these relations, can see the possibilities and ways to improve certain aspects of knowledge management and job satisfaction. Many researchers are of the view that a firm's knowledge assets include its structure, culture, processes, employees and physical artifacts. The knowledge management (KM) literature has tended to emphasize employee knowledge as a locus for KM efforts. While this viewpoint is perfectly rational and justifiable, there is also a considerable amount of knowledge embedded in the firm's operating procedures. In this paper, we espouse viewing organizational knowledge from this perspective and propose a framework to manage process knowledge. Starting with a definition, classification of processes, and a characterization of the knowledge generation process, we provide seven dimensions by which process knowledge can be viewed: structure, personnel and coordination, performance and tools, discourse, results, quality and implications. They are intended to serve as a starting point for managing process knowledge. The dimensions are illustrated with several examples and implications of the framework are pointed out. Through appropriate operations and policies, such as green processes and product development process (PDP), companies can respond to environmental sustainability. To remain competitive, one such approach, Design for X (DFX), involves considering different environment and sustainable strategies through different factors Xs. With regard to the availability of different DFX techniques that consider environmental issues, the decision as to which approach needs to be adopted remains absent. This paper aims at presenting an overview from 1980 to 2020 of the developed research, applications, and DFX techniques for assessing green issues. Selected DFX techniques are linked with strategies used in organizations. Following a literature analysis, a collaborative knowledge‐based framework that addresses the design concepts needed to assess environmental, safety, and health concerns in the development of green products is proposed. Furthermore, as a pillar for considering the Semantic Web and an evolving approach linked with natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence (AI), an ontology‐based knowledge management model for green assessment is developed for the representation, acquisition, organization, and capitalization of knowledge in a computer interpretable manner. The findings are useful for both managers and practitioners as they provide a coherent domain ontology that can help them manage knowledge, improve teamwork, and make decisions in a collaborative green PDP. Besides, an understanding of the essential design considerations that are required to implement environmental, safety, and health issues, as well as competencies used in the PDP is presented. Rumfitt has given two arguments that in unilateralist verificationist theories of meaning, truth collapses into correct assertibility. In the present paper I give similar arguments that show that in unilateral falsificationist theories of meaning, falsehood collapses into correct deniability. According to bilateralism, meanings are determined by assertion and denial conditions, so the question arises whether it succumbs to similar arguments. I show that this is not the case. The final section considers the question whether a principle central to Rumfitt's first argument, 'It is assertible that A if and only if it is assertible that it is assertible that A', is one that bilateralists can reject, and concludes that they cannot. It follows that the logic of assertibility and deniability, according to a result by Williamson, is the little known modal logic K4 studied by Sobociński. Amidst the fluidity of today's post‐COVID business environment, this paper aims to fortify the discourse on strategic agility, by presenting a comprehensive best practice framework for its development and sustenance. This is achieved by carrying out an empirical investigation on four best practice multinational corporations. Despite abundant scholarly attention, a critical gap persists in the empirical examination of specific functional practices and their role for fostering strategic agility. This research fills this void, leveraging in‐depth interviews with strategic‐level managers and analyzing archival data, revealing that strategic agility necessitates a systemic approach and congruent efforts across organizational functions. Key findings underscore the role knowledge management as the linchpin, with corresponding emphasis on dynamic talent management, strategic partnerships, open innovation, digitalization, and sustainability. Conceptually, systems thinking (ST) and knowledge management (KM) seem to share similar grounds. At the level of practice, there is some evidence, if still patchy, that established systemic methodologies (SM) developed in the UK have been informing KM practice. This paper discusses the conceptual links between ST and KM, exploring the theoretical approaches that were embedded in the early KM literature. A survey of journals from both systems practice and KM areas is carried out to assess the exposure of SM in KM articles. Titles and abstracts of papers published in a sample of management science (MS)/operational research (OR) and KM journals between 1995 and 2005 were queried for the occurrence of SM typical keywords in order to identify articles that have used ST in general and a SM in particular. Results suggest that methods such as systems dynamics, complexity theory, soft systems methodology, viable systems model and critical systems have started to become visible in KM applications; we discuss some of these articles focusing on the methodological orientations of the approaches used. A study was undertaken to classify mechanically a document collection using the free-language words in the titles and abstracts of a corpus of 261 physics research papers. Using a clustering algorithm, results were obtained which closely duplicated the clusters obtained by previous experiments with citations. A brief comparison is made with a traditional manual classification system. The problems of knowledge management (KM) have changed in the last thirty years since its introduction, as evidenced by the decrease in searches for "knowledge management" and the up‐tick in Google trends for searches on "big data." With the introduction of Web 2.0, the amount of data available within a company has exploded, but a company's technology for navigating that data has not necessarily kept up. Consequently, companies are at high risk for organizational knowledge loss. This is particularly acute in new technologies that suffer from a labor shortage, such as Model‐Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). To reduce this risk, best practices for knowledge taxonomy and knowledge navigation are explored within this paper. A systematic literature review will generate categorization data for MBSE topics and suggest organization for a Knowledge Management System (KMS) that will facilitate user interaction. Gaps in the current research of MBSE are identified for future research. As firms seek multiple pathways for growth and competitiveness, effectively commercialising internal technologies leads to outbound open innovation. Both absorptive capacity and desorptive capacity are knowledge management capabilities crucial for open innovation. While absorptive capacity is well explored by researchers, studies around desorptive capacity are scarce. This study addresses recent calls for a more in‐depth exploration of the role of desorptive capacity, which is still in its cradle stage. Firstly, a synthesis of the literature on desorptive capacity was conducted from related fields like open innovation, external knowledge exploitation, technology transfer, technology commercialisation, and so on. Then, based on the synthesis, a theoretical framework was formulated to explain the role of desorptive capacity in enabling firms to identify, transfer and commercialise their internal technology outside their firm boundaries. Testable propositions were formulated around the role, antecedents and consequences of desorptive capacity. The findings were discussed along with a comparison between absorptive and desorptive capacities. The implications for both theory and practice are listed. The purpose of this research is to remove the ambiguity that clouds the analysis of knowledge management systems (KMSs). This is because of an overall lack of consensus on how KMSs adapt to the new "knowledge explosion" embraced by the booming "Big Data" hype. In this paper, a refreshing synthesis of literature will uncover benefits and identify gaps in current knowledge. These findings will also be of benefit to researchers and industries as it allows for the holistic analysis of a KMS. This systematic literature review collected 54 papers for qualitative analysis. This analysis led to a synthesis of factors evident in the research and how they could be combined and collected as key categories. Once each factor was categorized, the future directions of research was analysed and documented. The primary factors discussed include (a) formal processes, (b) company culture, (c) top‐down support, (d) motivation, (e) clear goals, and (f) quality of KMS. The background for this paper is the rapid changes that currently manifests around the globe. The premise is that system science can provide a basis to enhance the capabilities of system engineering to meet these challenges. This paper explores with a few examples how system modelling, decision making and methods to manage complexity can draw on science. This paper presents a framework of knowledge risk management in the face of the COVID‐19 crisis, derived from the literature on knowledge management, knowledge security, and COVID‐19. So far, both researchers and practitioners have focused on knowledge as an asset and their efforts have been aimed at the implementation of knowledge management in various organizational contexts. However, with increasing threats related to cyberattacks or hazards associated with knowledge loss (as magnified by the COVID‐19 crisis), there is a growing need to account for knowledge‐related risks. In this conceptual paper, we integrate the contributions from the knowledge management and knowledge security fields, together with research on COVID‐19 to help organizations protect the knowledge they create, store and share. Based on a structured literature review, our investigation provides researchers and managers with a framework for securely handling organizational knowledge in a critical situation. Our framework revolves around two foci: one the one hand, building appropriate knowledge risk measures and controls; on the other hand, holistically tackling knowledge risks as part of knowledge management activities. The effective use of Information Management & Decision Support (IMDS) System can play significant role in combating pandemic and its spread, managing relief actions effectively, accessing vulnerable communities to roll out targeted subsidies by ensuring the coordinated effort and subsequent implementation. Reliable information is significantly critical to assist government and public health agencies in determining the best way forward to control this global health emergency. Therefore, this paper aims to strengthen capacity of IMDS System used by government institutions and authorities for decision making and information dissemination. In this research work, we addressed the integrity‐based issues that include completeness, correctness, and freshness of data by proposing a block chain‐based integrity protection mechanism. The proposed novel framework is a cascaded formulation of Integrity Assurance (IA) Protocol, Cryptographic Merkle Hash Tree, Digital Signature, and Blockchain. Beside cascaded formulation, two (2) schemes for MHT Generation are also presented in the framework. The proposed framework ensures fairness, completeness, and correctness of data that will be very helpful for secure data management, integration, and utilization in analysis for decision‐making. This paper briefly reviews some history of the concept of dominant logic, and then elaborates some of the ways in which the authors have further developed this concept in recent years. Discussion focuses on the dominant logic us a filter, on the dominant logic as a level of strategic analysis, on the unlearning (forgetting) curve, on the dominant logic an emergent property of organizations as complex adaptive systems, and on the relationship between organizational stability and the dominant logic. The use of focus groups is a well-established qualitative research method in the social sciences that would seem to offer scope for a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge and understanding in the field of business ethics. This paper explores the potential contribution of focus groups, reviews their contribution to date and makes some recommendations regarding their future use. We find that, while the use of focus groups is not extensive, they have been utilised in a non-negligible number of studies. Focus groups are usually used as a supplementary method, often as part of the development of a research instrument. Whether used on their own or in conjunction with other methods, we find that in the majority of cases there is insufficient information for a reader to judge that the method has been carried out well and hence that the 'findings' may be trusted. Nor is it easy for future researchers to learn about the practical application of the method in business ethics contexts. We therefore recommend improved reporting in future published studies. Based on an analysis of a subsample of papers that provided a reasonable level of methodological detail, we provide further insights into, and recommendations for, the use of focus groups in business ethics research. Effective management of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) and the urgent need to improve epidemic prevention require rapid response and immediate solutions, deploying appropriate knowledge management procedures and facilitating effective decision‐making and managerial efforts. The increased adoption of smart cities (SC) technologies offers various technologies that can support knowledge capturing, acquisition, sharing, and transferring. However, knowledge management practitioners and decision‐makers face various challenges to manage huge data generated from the various SC platforms. Managing COVID‐19‐related knowledge necessitates filtering, cleaning, keeping, and sharing only useful data. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to investigate managing knowledge related to COVID‐19 from a SC perspective. The methodological approach for this study is a systematic literature review. The findings indicate that SC technologies, through the advanced deployment of information communications technology (ICT) applications, have a crucial role in knowledge capturing and sharing. Smart cities strategies enable knowledge extraction through facilitating data collection and analysis over various disparate databases, as well as facilitating quick and accurate handling and analysis of huge and unpredicted amount of data. Managing knowledge related to COVID‐19 pandemic has the potential to improve the planning, treatment and controlling the pandemic, enhance decision‐making, and enable disaster management. However, the managing of a huge amount of complex, unstructured data and information remains a big challenge for COVID‐19 knowledge management (KM) initiatives. In this paper, we invite psychologists to reflect on and recognize how knowledge is produced in the field of social psychology. Engaging with the work of decolonial, liberation and critical psychology scholars, we provide a six‐point lens on precarity that facilitates a deeper understanding of knowledge production in hegemonic social psychology and academia at large. We conceptualize knowledge (re)production in psychology as five interdependent 'cogs' within the neoliberal machinery of academia, which cannot be viewed in isolation; (1) its epistemological foundations rooted in coloniality, (2) the methods and standards it uses to understand human thoughts, feelings and behaviours, (3) the documentation of its knowledge, (4) the dissemination of its knowledge and (5) the universalization of psychological theories. With this paper we also claim our space in academia as early career researchers of colour who inhabit the margins of hegemonic social psychology. We join scholars around the world in calling for a much‐needed disciplinary shift that centres solutions to the many forms of violence that are inflicted upon marginalized members of the global majority. To conclude, we offer four political‐personal intentions for the reorientation for the discipline of hegemonic social psychology with the aim to disrupt the politics of knowledge production and eradicate precarity. Introduction: Knowledge is a strategic resource in health care organisations and knowledge management (KM) is applied as an effective solution to overcome challenges, such as rising health care cost and increasing demands for improving quality of care. The aim of this review was to identify factors influencing the success of KM process in health care organisations of developed and developing countries. Methods: This review was conducted in 2018. The sources used for searching relevant papers were PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, Web of Knowledge, EMBASE and Google Scholar, and the time frame was between 1980 and 2017. The search terms were KM, health care services administration, health care organisation, hospital and clinic which were combined by using AND/OR Boolean operators. Results: In this review, 13 papers were included. The main success factors influencing KM implementation in health care organisations were organisational culture, information technology, organisational structure, and performance evaluation and measurement. In developed countries, organisational culture was the most frequent factor, while in developing countries, organisational culture and information technology were the most frequent ones. Conclusion: It seems that in developed and developing countries, organisational factors are the most frequent factors influencing successful KM in health care organisations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of the paper is to propose the concept of the Knowledge and Process Continuum, which corresponds to the changing role of Business Process Management (BPM) in Knowledge Intensive Organizations in the Knowledge Economy. The paper is conceptual in nature and is grounded in the theories of Knowledge Management (KM) and BPM. The systematic literature review method was used in order to employ a manual search of peer‐reviewed papers available in the Springer and ProQuest databases. Seventeen articles were chosen for in‐depth analysis, which shows the research gap with respect to the integrated application of KM and BPM. The article is an inspiring contribution to the theoretical reflection on the current state and further evolution of BPM in the Knowledge Economy and its inseparable connection with KM. The proposed conceptual framework may facilitate the management of Knowledge Intensive Organizations to effectively capitalize on the relationship between knowledge and business processes of different nature. Knowledge management structures (KMs) can be defined as structures whose purpose is to encourage people to build relationships, networks and trust. Global companies like Apple, Inc. have promoted these structures to transform its organisation into a knowledge‐based organisation. This paper identifies the role of national culture on four KMs namely open‐mindedness (OM), counter‐knowledge (CK), environmental innovation (EF) and customer capital (CC). In doing so, this study uses data collected from 354 end users of Apple (161 from Italy and 193 from Brazil). This paper provides evidence that while Apple end users from Brazil are more positively associated with higher levels of OM and CC, Italy users are more positively associated with higher levels of CK and EF. This paper discusses the role of the six dimensions of national culture–power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, long‐term orientation and indulgence of a nation that plays a significant role in how they impact the KMs. Hence, this study serves as an important contribution to global companies that are trying to develop their KMs to sustain competitive advantages. The paper aims to provide a systematic overview of the maturity models used in knowledge management (KM) with the purpose of identifying different perspectives, contributions, shortcomings, and implementation gaps. This study can be characterized as a theoretical research based on a systematic literature review. As a result of this analysis, KM key points and knowledge management maturity models (KMMMs) critical success factors (CSFs) are pointed out and recorded. The concept of standardization and its relation to KM, presenting known KM Standards and their core principles is explored. Even though there is a large number of publications on KM, a literature gap is identified in publications regarding the field of KM Standards and corresponding case studies. Based on the most widely spread critical success factors used in the knowledge management maturity assessment presented in the literature survey, the objective of this paper is to propose a holistic and integrated knowledge management maturity assessment framework encompassing the core guidelines of ISO 30401 in order to be used by researchers and practitioners for future reference in the form of a generic maturity assessment web matrix. Against the backdrop of physical ageing, asset management organizations not only struggle with scattered object‐related data across incompatible software and models, but also dispersed, often missing, insights from domain experts. There is a large volume of data already available particularly at National Road Authorities i.e. object characteristics, inspection and measurement results, usage records. Yet this data is distributed, has complex and varying structures, it takes cumbersome effort to find and obtain for a particular asset management decision. Semantic knowledge models aim to capture domain information and represent it via class definitions, their attributes, relationships and in instances. Such models are used to create knowledge bases, where different technologies are utilized. In the IM‐SAFE project, a knowledge base is created based on a Semantic Wiki Platform. It captures asset information concerning their structural analysis and state on 99 civil structures across Europe. In this paper, a step‐by‐step methodology is provided to build the knowledge base. The paper involves knowledge acquisition, data collection, knowledge modelling, populating datasets and quality assurance steps. This paper explores the knowledge transfer of internationally mobile scientists. It builds upon previous work on the development of methods for detecting the knowledge transfer of German scientists. Using abstract terms of publications covered in Scopus, this paper proposes a lexical‐based approach to identify knowledge transmitters. These scientists are characterized by acquiring knowledge from their co‐workers during their international stay and transferring it upon return to German co‐workers. Knowledge is operationalized as the co‐occurrence of rarely used abstract terms. Knowledge transfer is expressed as the diffusion of these term combinations in co‐authorship networks. The method developed was validated by contacting the bibliometrically identified knowledge transmitters and asking them what they believe they learned during their stay abroad. A control group of internationally mobile scientists without traceable knowledge transfer was similarly asked to report on their knowledge acquisition. The findings suggest that bibliometric data are capable of detecting knowledge transmitters among German scientists who were internationally mobile. The juxtaposition of the responses on their perceived knowledge acquisition and the bibliometrically identified lexical terms shows that the method proposed is well suited to studying the knowledge transfer of internationally mobile scientists. Effectual knowledge management (KM) entails knowledge assessment capability which enables organizations to identify knowledge holders and hence optimize human capital allocation and retention. The purpose of this paper is to present a new framework, referred to as MinK, that empowers organizations in appraising individual knowledge by providing an inclusive assessment platform. Following a comprehensive literature review, an exploratory study was conducted to explore the underlying constructs of individual knowledge from a practitioner's perspective. Semi‐structured interviews were held with 20 senior executives from diverse industries. Managers provided valuable insights about their conceptualization of individual knowledge and the characteristics of knowledge holders. Findings from the interviews complemented the literature in informing the design of the framework. The MinK framework evaluates individuals' knowledge from a number of perspectives using a multi‐dimensional scorecard of theoretically grounded measures. The assessment process adopts the 360‐degree approach to collate multi‐source appraisals from different echelons of the organization, ultimately producing an Individual Knowledge Index for each employee. The index is computed using a unique mathematical formula that combines multi‐criteria decision analysis techniques to consolidate results into a single reflective numeral. The incorporation of technology allows the complete automation of the assessment process and helps to address parametric multiplicity and arithmetic complexity. This paper contributes to KM theory by unveiling the underlying constructs of individual knowledge in organizational context and proposing a comprehensive theoretical framework that signifies the pivotal role of individuals in firm knowledge dynamics. Knowledge management is a key driver of competitive advantage at all times. This paper explores the different knowledge management measures taken by organizations during the initial stages of the pandemic and the various knowledge resources leveraged for the same. The scope of the study is limited to the initial stages of the pandemic, when things were uncertain and most organizations were going through such a crisis for the first time. The methodology used in this paper combines three‐stage thematic coding and a topic modelling algorithm. The data consist of interviews of human resource leaders and articles published in globally renowned sources. The data was collected during the initial stages of the pandemic and it reflects the thorough process during the initial stages of the pandemic. The findings indicate that firms take various short‐term and long‐term knowledge management measures by leveraging on several internal and external knowledge resources. The findings were analytically clustered and theoretically aggregated to develop an integrated framework for organizational navigation during the initial stages of the pandemic. The paper contributes to the literature by making a novel attempt to study the measures taken in the very early stages of the pandemic and some findings are new to the literature. Also, this paper integrates two different methodologies, which is unique to research. The integrated framework could be used by practitioners for developing a resilient knowledge management system. Across many sectors, new developments and discourses that emphasize change, collaboration, shifting professional boundaries and increased sharing of knowledge are taking place. One is thus challenged to question and/or develop further understanding of how and to what extent new ideas, scientific developments and technologies are translated within such contexts and thereby extend management and organization studies. To advance understanding about this significant field in the scholarly community, this special issue has assembled a diverse set of papers, which review developments in translation theory and seek to encourage new thinking and frameworks and open up new directions in management and organization studies more generally. By reflecting on these papers, the authors summarize key challenges in translational research and new framings, and point to exciting new research opportunities that can be found in fruitfully comparing, elaborating, expanding, contrasting and blending extant perspectives. Drawing on the team‐member exchange theory, in this paper, we examine how the knowledge‐based three team capabilities (team knowledge management capacity, team absorptive capacity, adaptive team capacity), when shared among team members, will influence the effectiveness of team decision‐making and team innovation. The study was conducted in Indian organizations. Data collected from 112 team members (with experience in innovation projects) were analyzed using structural equation modeling and bootstrapping procedure. The findings reveal that team members' capability (knowledge management capacity, adaptive capacity) plays a significant role in team innovation when there is team decision‐making. However, the study found no significant relationship between absorptive capacity and team innovation. The study contributes to the literature on team innovation by offering fresh insights into how the high‐quality Team‐member exchange leads to better capitalization of distinct team capabilities leading to effective team decision‐making, culminating in the generation of creative and novel ideas and solutions. The purpose of this paper is to propose a new framework for the governance of 'modern' smart organisations that integrates IT‐based orientation to decision‐making, systems thinking through system dynamics modelling and cybernetics. The design of the proposed framework is based on the key role played by knowledge in the governance of organisations. The literature on ambidexterity, organisational learning, knowledge management and systems thinking is the adopted research background. A synthesis of the connection points between these fields is proposed within a theoretical framework named Smart Model‐based Organisations. The main result of this work is represented by the proposed Smart Model‐based Governance (SMbG) framework and an example of application. There are two main findings related to the contribution of the proposed framework: the overcoming of 'data‐based' approaches that favour rigidity in knowledge governance and the contribution of systems approaches that, increasing organisational involvement, improve knowledge governance. The likelihood that the development of theoretical foundations for information science is a distant goal suggests that the near-term objectives of the information research community should be formulated more realistically. Since the task of science is increasingly being determined by urgent, and changing, social concerns, these objectives should be formulated within a socially utilitarian framework and within a problem domain different from that which has sustained information research in the past 15 years. The imminent societal imperative, management of knowledge as a social resource, appears to be a viable new framework for defining major roles and tasks for theory-oriented work in information science. This paper aims to understand how and why knowledge boundaries occur, change, and evolve throughout the life‐cycle of interdisciplinary research projects, how they are experienced by different actors, and what strategies they deploy to overcome these boundaries. The study took a case study approach focusing on an interdisciplinary research project for the development of computerised tomography and digital X‐ray scanners in a governmental research organisation in Thailand. A multi‐method qualitative approach, involving semi‐structured interviews, participative observation, and artefact and document analysis, was adopted. Data was analysed through thematic analysis. The findings suggest that knowledge management is more complex and difficult than portrayed in previous studies because of the following: (1) knowledge boundaries evolve and exhibit different emphases at distinct stages of the project; (2) boundaries do not stem only from differences in knowledge across different organisational actors, but, equally importantly, due to the lack of awareness that these differences exist; (3) different organisational actors experience diverse types of knowledge boundary types when faced within the same situation; and (4) context, in terms of external pressures driving the project and influencing its direction, plays an important role in boundary construction and boundary‐spanning mechanisms. This paper presents a novel framework for conceptualising how and why knowledge boundaries evolve throughout an interdisciplinary research project, how these changes are experienced by different participating actors, and what boundary‐spanning mechanisms for bridging them are developed by them. This study examines elements of knowledge management (KM) applied during the treatment of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) and proposes a KM framework that can be applied to respond quickly to a new virus outbreak. Following a content analysis of the press conferences held in China, this study found that various elements of KM, including strategic KM, the knowledge codification strategy vs. the knowledge personalization strategy, a knowledge‐friendly culture, knowledge‐based leadership, KM‐based human resource management, and KM‐related information technologies, were widely used by Chinese authorities and healthcare workers to improve treatment effectiveness for COVID‐19 patients. The explosion of interest in knowledge and its management reflects the trend towards 'knowledge work' and the Information Age, and recognition of knowledge as the principal source of economic rent. The papers in this Special Issue represent an attempt by strategy scholars (and some outside our traditional field) to come to terms with the implications of knowledge for the theory of the firm and its management. They are the product of a convergence of several streams of research which have addressed management implications of knowledge, including the management of technology, the economics of innovation and information, resource-based theory, and organizational learning. At the theoretical level, knowledge-centered approaches of Penrose, Arrow, Hayek and others have been enriched by contributions from evolutionary economists (notably Nelson and Winter) and epistemologists (notably M. Polanyi). At the empirical level, research into innovation and its diffusion originated by Mansfield, Griliches and others has been extended through studies which investigate tacit as well as explicit knowledge, and explore knowledge transfer within as well as across firms. This paper provides a conceptual framework that links manufacturing to business unit strategy and focuses on developing the notion of 'generic manufacturing strategies' at the strategic business unit (SBU) level. Specifically, an explicit conceptual link is drawn between 'generic' business unit strategies and 'generic' functional structures in manufacturing. It is proposed that the alternate manufacturing structures implicitly represent 'generic manufacturing strategies'. Drawing on ideas and concepts from the business strategy literature and manufacturing literature the paper links Porter's generic strategy framework to a complementary manufacturing structure framework that uses three dimensions: process structure complexity, product line complexity, and organizational scope. Viewed from different perspectives, the 'manufacturing contingency theory' concepts presented implicitly in the paper can be viewed as an extension of classic research on the interdependence between strategy and structure. The frameworks developed here provide a partial synthesis of knowledge in the broader disciplines of engineering and management without sacrificing academic rigor and practitioner relevance. Customer knowledge is one of the most noteworthy assets for firms to manage in order to improve their products and gain competitive advantage while meeting the customer needs. Customer knowledge management (CKM) arises when firms see the significance of customers as a source of firm's knowledge. More importantly, customers alter from passive product receiver into active knowledge partners and generate co‐created knowledge with firms. However, despite the popularity of promoting entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for economic development, research studies, examining CKM in the context of SMEs, are relatively small and diverse. In this paper, the authors discuss the concept of CKM from a comprehensive literature review as well as other related concepts that are anticipated to have relationships with CKM in SMEs, namely knowledge‐oriented leadership (KOL), trust in management, and firm performance. A thorough analysis of past research confirms that the existing literature in this area is highly fragmented. By integrating the main findings of relevant research streams, a detailed overview of the literature on CKM in the context of SMEs is established, and a research agenda is set up.
