This research puts forward the theoretical concept "print imprint," articulating the connection between the printed newspaper and its reader's "Self." This paper contends that the printed newspaper draws out the meaningfulness of ownership, touch and nostalgia, all influential ingredients of the self. This research centers on interviews with 19 former readers of a weekly newspaper that shuttered. The findings illustrate the significance, usefulness and uniqueness of the printed newspaper. In particular, participants expressed a relationship with the printed newspaper, calling it "my paper." Ultimately, this research argues that the loss of the weekly newspaper prompted a loss or lessening of self of the abandoned readers. Finally, this article argues this "print imprint" extends beyond printed newspapers and should be considered for all print products, including magazines and books, pointing to future research possibilities. From Twitterature to Instapoetry, several literary forms owe their genesis and propagation to social networking sites, or SNSs. Amongst these, Instapoetry has enjoyed the most notoriety, though at the cost of its demerits overshadowing its merits. One of Instapoetry's merits is its ability to induce a sense of nostalgia with the help of evocative aesthetic modalities deployed by a poet during an Instapoem's formulation. Some of these aesthetic modalities include the typewriter font, black and white images, sepia or Polaroid images, vintage stationary, calligraphy, and textured paper. Leaning on the concept of "nosthetics" or nostalgic aesthetics proposed by Tanja Grubnic, this paper decodes the temporal hypermediacy prominent in the works of American Instapoet and photographer Tyler Knott Gregson, particularly in his first poetry collection, chasers of the light: poems from the typewriter series. Published in 2014, the collection possesses a temporal aura which not only romanticizes the past but also conveys the present as a part of the past by impersonating pre-digital analog techniques and materials. Through Gregson's collection, this paper aims at understanding the various designs or ploys behind the habituation of nostalgic sensibilities and relics in modern digital creative expressions that have come to dominate the current field of cultural production. This paper reveals how Gregson's works resurrect, temporalize, nostalgize, restore, rehabilitate, remember, reflect, conserve, eternalize, memorialize, physicalize, sensualize, play, beguile, daydream, journey, mask, elevate, legitimize, and tout. The paper ends with a conclusion highlighting the importance of Instapoetry with regards to the preservation and continuation of historical literary practices, and with a suggestion encouraging further scholarly exploration on the topic. Butter had an extensive network of textual agents working for him, and he may have arranged for one of them to lightly edit and "correct" the plays in preparation for the Caroline editions.[63] It does not follow that all of the variants had the same source, however, and given Heywood's interest in the publication of his plays during the 1630s, he may have been involved - although the continuation of some errors suggests he did not oversee the process. First, Heywood may have supplied Butter with the prologue and epilogue, but could not prevail upon him to print a revised edition of the main play. The author examines, contextualizes, and elaborates upon Slochower's psychoanalytic exploration of commemorative rituals and, more specifically, the Jewish tradition of Yitzor as well as upon Impert and Rubin's understanding of embodied nostalgic reminiscences, considering them within a therapeutic context for the mourner entering into the clinical situation. Slochower's experience with commemorative rituals as facilitating environments for the restoration or support of potential space and memorial activity suggests that they can aid in the re-construction and re-shaping of emotional memory, going beyond a notion of “working through.” Impert and Rubin suggest that generative nostalgic reminisces, a soma-sensory based form of memory that holds the potential for activating arrested mourning, may be clinically usefully in awakening dormant or dissociated grief so that patients can access mourning. Extending upon these contributions, the author further considers the possibility that mourning might be more usefully conceived as processes of transformational work for which a fixed resolution or outcome is neither proscribed nor prescribed. This transformational work may be seen, in part, as ongoing cycles of self-surrender to the mourner's swirling constructions of attachments lost, re-found, re-remembered, and re-conceived. This is a commentary on Joyce Slochower (this issue) and Laura Impert and Margaret Rubin (this issue), who study how psychoanalysts struggle with progressive and regressive dynamics of mourning, remembering, and nostalgia. They offer new ideas about the creation of “memorial spaces” in order to challenge the classical conception that, ideally, mourning ought to be final at some point, and to enhance our clinical facility with “sensual objects of nostalgia” qua evocative phenomena that can help thaw frozen mourning. In the effort to carve out more time and place for the mourner who has lost historical time and place, the authors refer excessively to terms like space (“memory spaces”) and object (nostalgia-based “evocative objects”). While these terms are common coin in contemporary psychoanalysis, the overemphasis on localized, almost concrete “spaces” and “objects” is inconsistent with the intent to describe mental developments taking place at very high levels of symbolization and memorialization. Finally, important elements of the authors' clinical material are highlighted that can be further mined in order to reveal deeper psychosexual dimensions of the transference and countertransference, and to expose existential aspects of why and how we write as psychoanalysts. The paper 'Nostalgia' by Avishai Margalit and Lew Aron's discussion of it, which were the opening papers for the IARPP 2009 conference in Tel-Aviv, explicate the complex nature of memory and its ethical and relational components. Margalit explores the evaluative and ethical dimensions of memory in the private and collective spheres, describing 'good' and 'bad' nostalgia, and Aron brings Margalit's arguments to a meeting with psychoanalytic ideas of the transformative as well as defensive functions of memory and of 'lived memory.' Historians have examined vernacular duplex homes in Milwaukee's north side neighborhoods to write the history of the white working-class immigrants who settled this industrial metropolis during the early years of the twentieth century. African Americans moved into these neighborhoods in the later decades of the twentieth century. This paper explores how current Black residents construe the history of their neighborhood. To examine what such a historical narrative might look like, this paper presents three stories from a single city block: a twentieth century narrative of growth, a more recent story of decline, and a longer aspirational dream of a shared commons. Grounded in the material world that they observe around them, the current inhabitants assemble these diverse memories in anachronic ways, around multiple experiences of time such as nostalgia, a sense of disenfranchisement in the present moment, and an aspirational dream of a yet unrealized future. This ability to craft a complex narrative of place in a precarious world has emerged as a form of collective resistance against realities of racism, segregation, and urban disinvestment. Drawing on an existing debate regarding the conservation of living heritage, this paper delves into the dissonance and contestation that emerges during the aesthetic treatment of religious wall paintings. The Cypriot UNESCO painted churches open a window for the examination of how policy makers, clergy and visitors negotiate the materiality of religion. This multi-method qualitative comparative case study aims to understand how the 'material-focused' Authorised Heritage Discourse retains its hegemony during the conservation of living heritage and how AHD-led practices ('preserve as found' strategy) impact visitors' perceived authenticity and experience. The findings demonstrate that over the years, a centralised decision-making system has been maintained in Cyprus that limits polyvocality, perpetuating AHD-led practices. However, evidence of reconciliation between AHD and living tradition was found, challenging the current assumption that considers anti-restoration (objective authenticity) and living religious tradition as antithetic practices. Interviews showcased that for most social agents, deliberate damage, patina, and graffiti triggered an immersive and highly reflective experience while the prospect of restoration provoked 'pre-nostalgia,' a self-awareness that restoration may result in significant cultural loss. The paper concludes that, in future conservation and interpretation strategies, 'evidence of time' should be considered a salient quality of 'heritaged' churches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Abbé Sieyès is usually portrayed as a thoroughly modern thinker and a critic of the nostalgic Classical Republicanism of some of his contemporaries, in favour of a "modern republicanism", founded upon the division of labour and commercial sociability in a nation composed of equal labourers and producers. But Sieyès's unpublished manuscripts suggest he, in fact, regarded modern labourers as unskilled "Machines du Travail", dulled by work and incapable of exercising the duties of citizenship, a critique grounded in a critical account of commercial society as compared to the ideal republican polity. Where most scholars regard this as either a simple contradiction or a passing juvenile nostalgia, this paper argues that, influenced by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Sieyès consistently sought to counteract the degrading effects of the inequalities generated by commercial society and the division of labour. It was on this basis that Sieyès sought to construct a new political system which would reconcile participatory politics with representative government, enabling all citizens to enjoy a life of Active Citizenship. Based on these insights, this paper reinterprets Sieyès's political project as an attempt to reconcile the classical conception of citizenship with the demands of a commercial society. Purpose: The paper aims to identify the premises and feasibility of using nostalgia in marketing tourist destinations. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted using a literature review supported by bibliographic analysis and desk research involving available online reports and publications on nostalgic travel trends, nostalgic travel behaviour and nostalgic marketing activities applied in the context of tourist destinations. Findings: Considerations based on a scientific research review justify using nostalgia references in a destination marketing context. The rationale for using nostalgia in marketing tourist destinations stems primarily from its identified impact on tourist behaviours and the rise of nostalgic trends. The paper determines the feasibility of leveraging nostalgia in tourism destination marketing by identifying possibilities and specific application areas. Practical implications: The paper indicates the directions for appealing to various nostalgic motivations and triggers. It also identifies the areas of application and multiple possibilities associated with using nostalgia in the marketing of tourist destinations. Originality/value: The review of previous studies demonstrates a frequent focus on research areas referring to selected segments, types of tourism or specific destinations. This paper's value comes from a broad view of the issues related to leveraging nostalgia for tourist destinations and the incorporation of various aspects of application areas. The Newlands Rugby Stadium in Cape Town is the oldest rugby stadium in South Africa and the second oldest rugby stadium in the world. This paper explores the social and cultural consequences of the imminent demolition of the Newlands Rugby Stadium. Most research on stadia in South Africa have focused on the hosting of sports-mega events. This analysis goes beyond a descriptive examination of the tangible heritage of the stadium and focuses on the meaning and intangible heritage the stadium holds in the everyday lives of those who frequent it. With the advent of rampant commercialisation and globalisation of rugby, the Newlands Rugby Stadium itself has become expendable and a sporting space with fleeting qualities. This development highlights the importance of exploring the intangible heritage associated with this site. The study is informed by the notion of 'Topophilia' and associated heritage dynamics. This paper is based on the author's observations at the stadium during Super Rugby and Test matches, interviews with fans, and vendors, and the lived experience of going to the stadium over a ten-year period.
