The recent century has witnessed many social, cultural, environmental, globalization, technological, transport development, and commercialization changes in the society. These changes have a profound impact on the growth and nostalgia of religious tourism globally and India is no exception in this context. The Himachal Himalayan religious sites possess attributes that can meet religious tourists' need for nostalgia. In fact, these sites are considered important at the levels of religion, heritage, and culture of tourism worldwide. Despite the popularity of voyages to religious sites and their global importance, there is still a lack of knowledge about the Nostalgia as travel motivation for Religious tourists' visiting in Himachal Himalaya religious sites. Thus, the aims of this research is to understand the motivations of religious tourists by using Nostalgia (push and pull) framework and to examine the relationship between religious tourist motivation and overall satisfaction. In a survey of 278 religious tourists who visited in the Himachal Himalaya religious sites were sampled. Data were analysed by using structural equation modelling (SEM) via AMOS statistical software using the maximum likelihood method. The study postulates that Nostalgia pull motivation of Himachali tourists' affects their overall satisfaction at the religious sites in Himachal Pradesh India and Nostalgia push motivation has a significant positive effect on Himachali tourists' overall satisfaction at the religious sites in Himachal Pradesh India. Furthermore, the results of this research indicated that overall satisfaction of religious tourist can be determined by their push and pull motivations. This paper is a study of a first generation diaspora woman character named Mrs. Prameela Dutta, who leaves her native land Calcutta, India and immigrates to USA, to be with her son Sagar and his family. Though the diaspora subject Mrs. Dutta looks forward to a life with her son and his family in the US, once in the United States of America, she finds that she is ill-prepared for life there and consequently undergoes many trials and tribulations. The immigrant character displays the diaspora sensibilities of feeling alienated, of experiencing a sense of loss, of possessing a feeling of being displaced apart from being overcome bya sense of nostalgia. Often migrants are caught between spaces where they live negotiating between their past and present selves. A sense of nostalgia traps them from within, which gets reflected in comparative parameters through their interaction with the new place and culture, through changing frameworks of family and relations, and through varying levels of perceptions. As a social phenomenon, migration gets potent when seen through the perspectives of time, nostalgia, and memory. Temporality hence is closely connected to the understanding of the process of migration. Neo-liberal reforms of the 1990s in India brought new modes of operation which made cities as the central nodes of the economy. The cities were now reconfigured as servicing hubs for the global market. The spatial nature of the city and the way of life also was transformed to match the other global cities which served as examples on which the Indian cities were modelled. In case of Hyderabad, this moment of transformation to a global city creates a critical tension between the futuristic imaginations of the city and the present. This tension is experienced spatially and temporally; while the new city was shaping itself as the Hitech city, the old city with its identity associated with the Muslim past was outside the development discourse. It is at this juncture that the Hyderabadi film emerges, speaking Deccani language, a language which has historical origins in the region. These films visualize the interaction between the old city and the new city through humour and satire. This paper attempts to examine the ways in which the city is brought alive on screen by the Deccani films and interrogate its politics. This paper looks at the journey of new small-town films and analyses the cultural economy of this small-town nostalgia. Looking at the reconfiguration of Indian cities as a key phase, the paper attempts to argue that small-town nostalgia is produced by these reconfigurations as the small-town seeps into the big cities and produces its cinematic variant from within the urban imaginary. The paper conceptualises the small-town as a space marked by performative excess and state of exception in the realm of law and order. It is produced as an imaginary ‘other’ of the big city, a counter-utopia which threatens even as it entertains the residual cultural-self trapped in the confident but ill-conceived Indian urbanism. The multiplex, as a prominent socio-economic site of exhibition, now hosts this new small-town simulacra that disengages itself gradually from its referent and gets a life of its own. This paper, therefore, situates small-town nostalgia within the multiplex-mall probing the boundary conditions of this new genre now working in solidarity with various vernacular cinemas in its site-specific idioms, yet thriving in a space beyond. Thus, the paper raises arguments about a new cinema culture that has at its heart, complex migration patterns across India, a performative belonging, and a cinema culture of mourning. In recent years, there has been an emerging critical discourse in South Asia that examines the changing contours of representational politics that could, in turn, be strategically mobilized to introduce an alternative idiom of same-sex love within a standard template of heterosexual storytelling. This has been complemented by an evaluation of alternative modes of sexual politics that need not necessarily conform to Western labels or paradigms of queer identities. Taking its cue from such discursive readings, this article demonstrates how Roopa Rao's web series, The "Other" Love Story (2016), revisits some of the dominant tropes, practices, and narrative conventions of the Hindi films, released in the 1990s, to create a counter-archive for the lesbian subject who, for the most part, was conspicuous by her very absence in the popular figurations of that period in South Asia. There is a perceptible strand of lingering nostalgia and artistic homage that undergirds such an experimental project that nevertheless also becomes a disruptive site for articulating an oppositional esthetics of romance. The subtlety and restraint of such a nuanced portrayal of dissident desires and queer intimacies thus not only resist the easy appropriations that women in the subcontinent are routinely subjected to (as veritable repositories of tradition and national identity) but also retrospectively reclaim a voice for an otherwise historically silenced discourse of sexuality for the masses. Purpose: The study aims to investigate the impact of brand nostalgia, self-brand connections and parent brand trust on brand extension purchase intention. Additionally, the research examines the moderating effect of brand attachment on the link between brand nostalgia and intention to purchase brand extensions, as well as the relationship between self-brand connections and intention to purchase brand extensions. Design/methodology/approach: The study collected data from 458 respondents in India using a cross-sectional survey research methodology. The collected data were analysed in two stages in SPSS, using structural equation modelling and the process macro bootstrapping method. Findings: The study's results indicate that although brand nostalgia and self-brand linkages exert a favourable impact on intention to purchase brand extensions, this effect is not significant when it comes to brand trust. Brand attachment acts as a moderator between brand nostalgia and the intention to purchase brand extensions. Additionally, brand attachment acts as a moderator between self-brand connections and the intention to purchase brand extensions. Research limitations/implications: The study adds to the consumer–brand relationship and brand extension literature by proposing and empirically testing a comprehensive model that determines the role of brand nostalgia in the formation of self-brand connections with the brand, trust in the parent brand and, finally, the intention to purchase brand extensions. Additionally, it examines if consumers' attachment to the parent brand increases or decreases their intention to purchase brand extensions. Practical implications: Consumer brand nostalgia may be leveraged while introducing brand extensions into the market. What is more, managers could use brand attachment to enhance the impact of brand nostalgia for favourable brand expansion assessments. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first research to examine the influence of brand nostalgia and self-brand connections on the intention to purchase brand extensions. Recently nostalgia has received attention from academic researchers for increasing destination attractiveness and tourist footfalls. Despite increasing interests in food tourism, little research exists regarding gastro-nostalgia to motivate tourists for visiting gastro-festivals. The current study identifies six potential dimensions of gastro-nostalgia through extant literature review viz., cuisine, gastro-experience, gastro-festive ambiance, socialization, personal identity, and cultural identity. Furthermore, it developed a robust instrument for measuring gastro-nostalgia as a reflective-reflective second-order construct using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The study collected perceptual responses from tourists and individuals having positive memories associated with two prime gastro-festivals in India: (a) Durga puja (221 responses) and (b) Onam (257 responses). The instrument is empirically validated through factorial validity, nomological validity, and measurement invariance. The study showed that gastro-nostalgia could positively influence tourists' willingness to recommend intentions and revisit intentions. India's population of 1.2 billion suggests a large consumption potential; therefore, understanding Indian consumer behavior is very important for local, national, and international companies and marketers. Innumerable Indian TV ads use old Bollywood songs; however, little research has explored the effects of such songs on Indian consumers. This research explores the nostalgia-inducing ability of old songs used in Indian TV ads, compares the advertising effects of different nostalgic types, and examines the possible moderation of singer gender, gender match-up between singer and audience, and product involvement. The empirical results indicate the following: (1) old songs can evoke different nostalgic feelings; (2) historical nostalgia songs generate better ad effects on young Indian consumers, especially songs sung by female singers, are gender mismatched, and used to promote high involvement products; and (3) personal nostalgia songs lead to better ad effects only for low involvement products. In today's global world of movement our personal identities are changing. So, 'where is my "home"?' and 'what is my "identity"?' has become essential questions in one's life. In recent times, more and more diasporic communities visit their homelands, perhaps to reroot their identities. This study explored the infl uence of Bollywood movies in the Indian diaspora's identity construction, notions of home and tourism behaviour to India. Findings revealed that the Indian diaspora's imagination of India is strongly informed by Bollywood movies. Yet, different generations of the Indian diaspora have different reasons for travelling to India. The first generation's nostalgia of missing the past arises by watching Bollywood movies, and as a result, creates a motivation to travel to India. The second generation's main travel behaviour to India is to experience the new 'modern' country, portrayed in the affluent surroundings of contemporary Bollywood movies. And, for those first generations, who have never seen India before, Bollywood movies enable them to romanticise their homeland and create an urge to visit India. Thus, Bollywood movies have immense importance in the Indian diaspora's identity construction, promote diaspora tourism and constitute a huge opportunity for economic development. The article examines the experiences of three generations of refugee families in New Delhi, India and explores their role by outlining an analytical need to differentiate between ignorance and forgetting. It discusses how the intergenerational has depicted tension between forgetting and ignorance. The author argues that cultural identity depends on the structures of not knowing and the loss of cultural knowledge is not a loss of cultural identity.
