Abstract
Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is a software development kit that is used to enable software communication. Furthermore, it can be utilised to implement a service-oriented architecture (SOA). With WCF services can be created that encapsulate business functionality, which is then offered to either the company's internal or external consumers. in order to make use of these services they have to be hosted in an appropriate hosting environment. Various methods exist but each is characterised by different attributes. This paper investigates these hosting methods and gives recommendations with regard to the use of distributed industrial applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
