Starting from an examination of the concept of being active - as a prerequisite for learning processes - this volume discusses the significance of freely chosen versus instructed activities and places them in the contexts of teaching and learning workshop work. The juxtaposition of instructed and free activity challenges us to determine more precisely the relationship between instruction and successful construction in the interaction between learning facilitator and learner. This applies to work in learning and research workshops, in learning labs and in learning in the "normal" seminar room or classroom. All in all, the question arises: Can the activity of discovering, researching, practice-oriented and cross-discipline learning be made one's own in such a way that it becomes habitual learning? And: should it do so at all?, Ausgehend von einer Auseinandersetzung mit dem Begriff des Tätigseins – als Voraussetzung für Lernprozesse – wird in diesem Band die Bedeutung frei gewählter gegenüber instruierter Tätigkeiten diskutiert und in die Kontexte Unterricht sowie Lernwerkstatt-Arbeit gestellt. Die Gegenüberstellung von instruiertem und freiem Tätigsein fordert heraus, das Verhältnis von Instruktion und gelingenden Konstruktionsleistungen in der Interaktion zwischen Lernbegleitung und Lernendem genauer zu bestimmen. Dies gilt für die Arbeit in Lern- und Forschungswerkstätten, in Lernlaboren und beim Lernen im ganz „normalen“ Seminarraum oder Klassenzimmer. Insgesamt stellt sich die Frage: Kann man sich die Tätigkeit des entdeckenden, des forschenden, des praxisorientierten und des Disziplinen überschreitenden Lernens so zu eigen machen, dass es in habituelles Lernhandeln übergeht? Along the action forms of playing, learning and working, the most diverse forms of cooperation and collaboration in and between learning workshops are discussed and research approaches as well as facets of pedagogical learning workshop work are described. It becomes clear that playing without learning and working, learning without playing and working and working without playing and learning is unthinkable. In this way, a monoculture of playing, learning and working is overcome and a reciprocal conditionality in pedagogical action becomes visible. Learning workshops are also places in which being at work or being active, discourse and reflection in learning, work and play situations are the focus and in which cooperation, which may be understood pragmatically, can become collaboration based on the subject matter., Entlang der Handlungsformen Spielen, Lernen und Arbeiten werden unterschiedlichste Formen der Kooperation und Kollaboration in und zwischen Lernwerkstätten diskutiert und Forschungsansätze, sowie Facetten der pädagogischen Lernwerkstattarbeit beschrieben. Dabei wird deutlich, dass Spielen ohne Lernen und Arbeiten, Lernen ohne Spiel und Arbeit und Arbeiten ohne Spielen und Lernen nicht zu denken ist. So wird eine Monokultur des Spielens, Lernens und Arbeitens überwunden und eine wechselseitige Bedingtheit im pädagogischen Handeln sichtbar. Lernwerkstätten sind zudem die Orte an und in denen u.a. das am Werk sein bzw. das Tätigsein, der Diskurs und die Reflexion in Lern-, Arbeits- und Spielsituationen im Mittelpunkt stehen und in denen aus einer vielleicht pragmatisch verstandenen Kooperation eine am Gegenstand anknüpfende Kollaboration werden kann. From Mah-Jong, to the introduction of Prussian war-games, through to the emergence of location-based play: maps and play share a long and diverse history. This monograph shows how mapping and playing unfold in the digital age, when the relations between these apparently separate tropes are increasingly woven together. Fluid networks of interaction have encouraged a proliferation of hybrid forms of mapping and playing and a rich plethora of contemporary case-studies, ranging from fieldwork, golf, activism and automotive navigation, to pervasive and desktop-based games evidences this trend. Examining these cases shows how mapping and playing can form productive synergies, but also encourages new ways of being, knowing and shaping our everyday lives. The chapters in this book explore how play can be more than just an object or practice, and instead focus on its potential as a method for understanding maps and spatiality. They show how playing and mapping can be liberating, dangerous, subversive and performative.
