Social learning takes place in an environment where social influence plays a significant role. The role model with appropriate experience and achievements being one such influencer. In facilitating entrepreneurial behaviour in our students, we often make use of experienced and articulate entrepreneurs as role models. However, they are only one of many role model influencers. This paper considers the influence of several role models upon a group of just under three hundred senior business students in an Indonesian University. It identifies those role models that the students value. They draw role models from within their home, their community and their university. We hope that this paper will generate interest and discussion on two issues: how we manage this complex mix of role models both from within and outside the classroom, and secondly, the extent to which culture determines the universality of the experience reported in this paper.
