As early as March 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic took over globally and soon the world as we used to know underwent abrupt changes, including education sector. The key motivation for this research is to understand how teaching and learning in the art and/or design discipline might be transformed in the long term, for both teachers and learners, as a reflection of teaching practices under the pandemic condition. Comparatively, this research aims to find out whether there is a shift in educators in art and/or design's perception toward online class, by considering both technological and human aspects surrounding the subjects. This research uses mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitatively, this study analysed data from online questionnaires addressed to lecturers at Higher Education Institutions (HEI). To get a deeper understanding, this research also uses a qualitative approach, by investigating both lecturers and the students majoring in art and/or design. This research maintains that while the presence of technology and internet are vital in virtual class, but such classes can only be dubbed as successful providing there is an active role from both educators and students. Currently, the online classes that are taking place in a rather emergency manner are not yet running optimally, due to the lack of participation from the students. However, it is probable that in the future this situation may be changed, with the carefully planned curriculum, once our students are mentally prepared. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study presented in this paper consisted in the development of a prototype for an online e-learning platform, with the aim of contributing to the preservation of the material and cultural heritage of Portuguese craft industries. More specifically, through the creation of a technological solution that helps access and pass on the ancestral knowledge of handicraft to younger generations. The research focused on the Design field using methodologies and concepts related with user experience design (UX Design) and user interface design (UI Design), namely addressing crucial steps such as the creation of personas, information architecture, user flows, wireframes, visual identity and style guides. The research's outcome culminated in the creation of a high-fidelity prototype and the performance of usability tests to evaluate and validate the designed solution. The results demonstrated the efficiency of the designed interface and the potential interest of the target audience: young people and more specifically arts and design students. Peer review can be broadly categorised as either the individual-based review system used to review academic papers for publication or the group peer review system used, more usefully, in student reviews of their work. Web 2.0 technologies present an opportunity to consider a hybrid of these two modes of peer review. Using the rapid communication with, and 24/7 access to, a shared online environment it is possible to identify explore a form of hybrid space between the two orthodox modes of peer review. This paper describes an initial attempt to examine how student peer groups operate within the subject of art & design, and whether their use of social networking sites can apply in a wider academic context. By examining current models of web 2.0 categorised by having a self-selected user or member group, (Facebook for example) we have witnessed a form of peer review taking place. In this form of peer review, members appear to make almost entirely informal and qualitative judgments. We designed a space and observed students interacting with it in order to explore what we might productively learn from this form of peer review process and have explored how these models might provide an insight into a new model for peer review.
