Conventional archaeological studies have reported that the Wādī Sūq societies of the Trans-Ḥajar region in the central and south-eastern sectors (to the east of Al-Ain/Buraimi and Wādī Jizzī) are characterized by the deterioration of complex social organization, transformation towards a mobility-oriented society, and collective burial practices. This view has been questioned by recent archaeological evidence relating to several parts of the aforementioned sectors, but it is influenced by the substantial amount of burials and the lack of micro-geographical-scale variability. In order to gain an understanding of the regional aspects of the Wādī Sūq landscapes, a re-examination of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Bāt, Dhahirah Governorate, in the central interior sector, provides evidence relating to mortuary and occupational aspects and a framework for understanding the local transformation of archaeological landscapes on a limited regional scale. This paper discusses the archaeological landscape of Bāt during the Wādī Sūq period, based on various available datasets. We identified seventy-one Wādī Sūq tombs including reused ones, four residential structures, and three non-occupational structures including walls. These multifaceted features indicated the presence of a seasonally settled community at the site despite the social change due to aridification on a regional scale. The archaeological evidence suggests regional aspects in the central interior of south-east Arabia during the Wādī Sūq period, which is represented by the continued but downscaled population and activities at Bāt. This study analyzes two concepts used to reduce environmental impacts and to improve environmental performance of industrial activities. The concept of Best Available Techniques (BAT) is used in many countries as the major regulatory one, while the concept of Best Environmental Management Practices falls under the category of voluntary approaches, promoted by the European Union (EU). BEMP is understood as the most effective way to implement the Environmental Management System (EMS) to achieve the best environmental performance. Whereas Reference Documents on BAT have been drawn up, reviewed and used since the 1990s, Sectoral Reference Documents (SRD) on BEMP developed since 2009, are much less known, especially outside the EU. Priority sectors for SRD are set by the European Commission (EC) and include both "heavy" industrial sectors regulated by BAT-related legislation and such areas as Public Administration, Tourism, and Telecommunications. Several examples of BEMP implemented by Russian companies are presented. Some of them develop BEMP as EMS voluntary procedures relevant from the point of view of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The extensive investigation carried out between November 2017 and the end of January 2018 at the UNESCO site of Al-Khutm (Bat) has allowed us completely to expose an important tower dated back to the end of the third millennium BC. The excavation revealed the good state of preservation and monumentality of the complex, unique among the towers so far investigated in Oman. The tower was covered by a deposit of collapsed stones several metres deep, which had hidden the tower until recent times. Among the significant results of this season is the exposure of the tower wall reaching a height of c.4 m and a perimeter wall 2.3 m in height, surrounding the western side of the tower. The excavation has also revealed the presence of several structures located inside the tower, including a deep well found in the central corridor. The sloping profile of the substratum and the monumental architecture of both these structures testify to the monumentality of the tower. Preliminary analysis of stratigraphic data and associated pottery suggests dating the construction of the tower to the late Umm an-Nar period and to a second, Wadi Suq, period featured by constant rebuilding. Environmental compensation aimed at keeping bat flight paths open is a major environmental protection issue. The small mammals play a very important role in eliminating pests and insects, pollination and seed dispersal. New roads often sever the continuity of bat migration routes. Not only do bats have traditional migration routes, but also their winter habitats rarely change. Given the above, many countries use different solutions of sustainable civil engineering, geared towards maintaining free passage for bats over currently constructed or rebuilt traffic routes. New gantry structures over S3, a new expressway in Puszcza Bukowa (Beech Woods) near Szczecin. A total of three gantries were built over S3, two at the end of forest edge and one along a forest clearing on both sides of the road. All the three objects were located precisely on bat migration routes, confirmed by several years of monitoring. Monitoring studies were conducted again after the road had been completed and commissioned to confirm the effectiveness of the solutions. Currently, in the biogas upgrading field, many technologies are on the market, making use of different principles/unit operations. No one has proven to be definitely better than others, and all the technologies have some pros and cons. The aim of this study is to test the chemical washing with Hot Potassium Carbonate for the biogas upgrading. Indeed, although Hot Potassium Carbonate washing is extensively used worldwide for the CO2 Removal, no biogas upgrading plant with this technology has been proposed till now. In this study the summary data of a biogas upgrading demonstration plant (based on Hot Potassium Carbonate technology) collected in one year of continuous operation are reported. Global lead consumption has exceeded 10 million tons in 2011 and approximately 80% of the lead produced is used in manufacturing LAB. The growing demand and importance of the LAB led to make the recycling process of LAB a very beneficial due to the environmental aspects and the recovery of lead as a valuable metal. To convert the crude lead obtained from reduction process of the lead content in the LAB to pure lead, refining process is necessary to remove the metal content such as calcium (Ca), copper (Cu), antimony (Sb), arsenic (As), tin (Sn) and sometimes silver (Ag). LAB is one of the famous industries in Egypt. The total amount of LAB produced in Egypt is about 1,270,556 bat. /year. There are 5 producing factories in Egypt which don't cope with the local consumption resulting to an import of 1,552,900 bat./ year. The LAB industry is one of the hazardous industries due to lead and sulfuric acid associated with its production. The LAB wastes are discarded after 2 to 4 year uses resulting in pollution of the environment. The aim of this paper is to propose a solution of the mismanagement of the Egyptian amounts of LAB wastes generated after uses resulting to many negative impacts and adding a new positive impacts approach through recovery of many valuable products according to Egyptian local market. This paper will add to the sustainability approach of LAB industry in Egypt through identification of most aspects concerning information related to local waste management compared to optimum LAB waste management according to the Best Available Technique¹s (BAT). The proposed Effluent Limitations Guidelines (ELG) and Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) rules promulgated by the U.S. EPA impact the coal-fired power industry significantly. The rules will 1) regulate fly ash settling ponds out of existence, 2) regulate the location, design, operation and closure requirements for impoundments, and 3) impose strict new requirements for wastewater management. Traditional "dry ash" management satisfies the requirements of the new rules but suffers from inherent technical deficiencies that are costly and that exhibit inherent safety risks. Dense Slurry System (DSS) technology mixes an optimum quantity of plant wastewater with CCR's to produce an environmentally stable end product. Once cured, the product exhibits low hydraulic conductivity, high compressional strength, no transport water discharge, little or no fugitive emissions, reduced leachate volume and enhanced metals sequestration. DSS achieves the goals of the ELG rules and CCR rules more safely and at a lower cost than that of traditional "dry" ash management. DSS has been used extensively in Europe but is only being used at one plant in the United States. In the present paper, a new model of flying bat robot is introduced. The aim is to design a robot that mimicking a bat, is able to fly in a straight path. The body of robot mimics a species of bats called Pteropus poliocephalu. The robot features two wings each having four degrees of freedom, two degrees of freedom are controlled directly using actuators, and the others are underactuated. Two separate 4-bar mechanisms are designed for flapping and expansion of wings. Using this model we can apply simpler control algorithm to reach desired flight characteristics. This paper represents results of measuring of sedimentary dust at two locations. One location is at SM where installed is old fashioned technology for limestone processing. The other location is «Kota» near Vareš, where installed is contemporary technology for limestone and spilite processing with application of BAT (the best available technique), and is a property of company “BBM Vareš„ d.o.o. from Vareš. Measurements confirmed that during limestone processing where old fashioned technology is installed primary pollution with dust of researched area occur and that represents the most significant pollution source. Also, measurements confirm that during limestone and spilite processing in company “BBM Vareš” d.o.o. at each measuring points, measured values were under border values. Emissions of gaseous pollutants as well as noise were of secondary character and insignificant in comparison with dust emission. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents the result of the study which assesses the morphological and DNA characteristics of the insect species Nycteridopsylla (N.) iae and N. quadrispina. The study was conducted on the male and female species of both species taken from the Great Evening Bat. It was found that genetic sequence of both species was 100 percent and shows that N. quadrispina is similar with N. iae, despite morphological differences.
